  1. The main problem that I see with Marauders/Sentinel is that their burst doesn't really have a peak and then a down time. It just keeps coming and coming, and if you can manage to burst one down, they have very high survivability.

I think they should have to sacrifice some of the survivability for the amount of damage they can currently dish out.

People have already figured out that premades need to consist of warriors assassins and PTs. If you stack these, with good players, things are going to melt faster then you can hit your buttons.

Still, I can 1v1 bad marauders, if the marauder has any idea on how to play his class its GG for any healer.

When is a wz ever 1v1 though

  2. So from a healing aspect your are getting .012% increase per EXP point.

Let's go back to my example when I said the armor slot is fudged up:

    BM: +31END, +33WP, +50 EXP(~.6% healing increase)

    RAK: +55END, +51WP

    We still lose 240HP.....

Now healing rating (My toon's 500 Base Healing Bonus. I have a BM chest piece and a Rakata Chest piece. Which on do I put on if I want to heal):

    BM: 500*1.006= 503.00

    RAK: 500+3.06(+18WP)= 503.06

Your output is a virtual dead-heat, but once again you nerfed your END by 240HP per piece. This is a BIG reason why healers can't keep up in PvP. I would not use PvP gear at all if I wanted to be an effective healer in 1.2.....

Now the above example is with my theory that Expertise only affect heal/damage boost(who know how reduction is increase, but I would guess its based on your defense rating) isLets even look at it from a best case scenario: My deliverance as a DPS sage is around 3K on the tooltip, which is made up of base attack rating plus healing bonus.

    BM: 3000*1.006= 3018

    RAK:3000+3.06= 3003.06

Not even a 15HP difference to lose 240HP. Plus WZ medpaks are percentage based on a toons max HP...LULZ @ EXPERTISE.

You forgot to calculate in the damage reduction that you gain w/ the expertise. Good luck dropping those healing bombs when you are dead.

Expertise is the end all be all stat for PVP. STack it and win.

  3. As much as i wanna heal, i dnt feel like lvling up an op for healing lol. But im just having a much harder time surviving and keeping someone up since the patch. Any build suggestions for bodyguard spec for pvp. And how are your bodyguard merc healer doing?

PVP merc healing requires good gear and a great attitude. You will always be focused and if your CD's are not up you will die. Even sometimes when your cooldowns are up, you will die.

Things you want to avoid are Marauders and their jedi counterparts. We just have no counter/escape vs one.

That being said, I have always had fun healing on my merc in 1.2 and pre 1.2. I will post a screenshot of some of my healing scores in 1.2 pvp when the uploading works.

Basically, 500k+ healing w/ full (unbuffed) Battlemaster gear.

  4. Where does the math show there was a bug yesterday? I'm not seeing this. Thanks.

So its kind of like driving a car. Car is rated for x horsepower, but you can't feel it, you know from your perception that something is wrong...although you go back to the manufacturer and say this isn't performing well...manufacturer comes back and says, well its rated for x horsepower so your feelings must be off.

Experience and feel go a long way on knowing if something is right or wrong without any concrete evidence.

Example: I've played up to Rank 72 before the patch. That's a lot of pvp and a lot scenarios, wins, losses, stomps, being stomped, and not ONCE, in those games did I ever felt that I just got burned down in seconds without the ability to feel like I did something in that interaction.

Insert 1.2 and now all the sudden the time to kill me has increased beyond what I have ever experienced, in some cases, I would be back to back stunned (stunned, pop energy shield, stunned) I would come out of the stun and be able to get an instant cast off on myself. Now, I don't make it through the 2nd stun w/ my bubble up.

These are the situations where "feel of the game" comes in to play.

Now take this morning, my time to kill was extended back to how I remembered it. Or if you will, bringing my character back in line with what the original poster was describing.

Now one thing to note is that not everyone's battlemaster gear was updated with the patch. Maybe this had something to do with the "feel" of the game as well.

  5. Past the lack of Bioware rep acknowledgement does this mean my dreams of killing people with my healer have been dashed since it was all a bug? :(

No there was still a reduction in overall healing. Its just not a killfest where everyone burns in seconds.

I also think there was no post since all the craziness with the servers happened.

  6. Indeed there may have been a bug yesterday, and today when the servers come back it may be gone. You said you clearly felt better this morning about it. This post/compilation is to keep the "Sky is falling" people in line. So they can come here, figure out whats actually happening and quit the complaining because they have no knowledge of the system.

Yeah that makes sense. I agree with the math, and it makes sense what they did. Taking math and putting it in to the practical application of what was happening on the servers I think was the missing link yesterday.

I also think, people have to get out of the notion of using a mix of pvp/pve gear. Although I've never done that, I think a lot of people still do.

  7. Your snarky little attitude probably is less noticeable irl. I wouldn't worry about it.

I play with three gamers who have, for lack of a better word, dominated healing in mmo pvp for the last 10 years. They play games for a living. They are no longer healing in this particular game.

You also misread my tone in my posts. You, in your head, assume I mean I can't heal. I actually said I'm more useful in a pvp environment as a dps. Me and a sent can merc ANY healer in 10 seconds. You can't stop it. I constantly duel a healer with 19k health and he dies twice as fast as he used to.

I get the arguments. What I don't get is telling some of the best pvpers in the world they are bad. Going to have to do better than that, even with the snark.

I assume your friend got his gear pre 1.2 and didn't get the buff or whatever. I had the same problems yesterday. Today they weren't appearent. I suggest retesting when the servers come up to see if the same results occur. I doubt very much they will.

  8. I would rather them worry about the game more than catering to a bunch of people than nerdrage on these forums all the time lol.

I think people realized that there was a glaring bug in the equation (myself included). I really don't have a problem with nerf but, there was a real feel of something "wrong" with the game yesterday. If you couldn't "feel" something was out of place. Then I dunno what to say.

Even the guy I play with most times, juggernaut was laughing at how fast he burns and gets burned.

When you play a game long enough you get a feel with how everything runs.

  9. Yes, because you say its wrong its wrong...Go away now...I've seen your troll posts and dont care for your opinion, read and learn or sit and cry.

Has anyone tested the math yesterday to determine if there was any issues with the expertise not granting its actual posted mitigation?

I would be curious to know, since this is how "it felt" in terms of game play.

  10. Someone sticky this for the love of god, that way baddies can learn something and people can stop crying!!!

I think what most people are experiencing is some kind of bug w/ the old pre 1.2 gear not being buffed or not applying its actual mitigation.

I don't think its a a L2 play or baddies unite kind of post. I heal like 50 wz a day pre 1.2 and I could instantly tell that I was being burned down in 1 stun, using a CD.

The math above wouldn't account for that. Which is the exact opposite of what was happening... I guarentee if its anything like i experienced this AM. All these threads will die off and healers will be the norm in groups again.

Its not really that our heals are low or weak. We just lost all our mitigation from expertise from some weird glitch...I swear.

On patch day, wearing all my BM gear, I said this exact statement: "It feels as though im wearing all my pve gear"...kind of like when I first started PvP'ing.

This morning it was magically fixed.

  11. So then my gear is bugged and the expertise wasn't working yesterday.

Today it seems fine and the "time" needed to kill me is the same.

Yesterday the "time" needed to kill me was drastically increased. Full BM except for relics, which are champion.

Makes sense of why yesterday I was melting and this morning everything seemed normal.

Its really not the "healing" that is the problem, its the instant melting not able to get any worthwhile heals off that is the problem.

  12. "This sounds like a learn to play issue."

    - Everyone on the PvP forums

    d:

    :D

I think my gear was just bugged to be honest. This morning's matches went a lot better. No more melting in seconds. Wonder what itll be like after the downtime.

  13. He said he only lost once in 45 levels of one on one. Since you can't engage in PVP before level 10 he therefore must be level 55. Get your math straight! :D

    Oh good point :o

  14. I'm assuming no marauders or sentinels play on your server and you are immune to Trauma.

He isn't a level 50 and thus, his whole OP statement doesn't really apply to anything worthwhile.

  15. I really like the way you took his statement and made it your own..

Bottom like, 2v2...2 dps vs 1 healer and any other class...who wins? Assume all gear is equal, assume all skill is equal...GO

DPS without even sweating it. 2 dps vs 2 dps, whoever gets the drop.

    2 dps vs anything ..... 2 DPS

DPS is the only thing you need in a wz.

    DPS DPS DPS.

  16. Healing is no longer easy-mode, with all of your self stated expertise and experience from World of Derp-craft I would think that you'd be happy about this and adjust quickly.

One DPS does not "instantly blow up" a healer, they, as you said, force them to heal themselves. Eventually, unsupported, the DPS will usually win because the healer can no longer pop off a couple heals to 100%, use 2-3 globals to put out some damage and go back to healing, eventually whittling down the DPS. All this while never having to worry about managing their mana at all.

I know this is going to blow your mind, but you actually have to work as a team now. You also have to think about what you're doing and how you're going to manage your abilities and your mana. Amazing right? Who would have though that healers should need guard? Or to have people assigned to peel dps off of them. These concepts are so forward thinking I just don't even know where to start!

Your whole statement that if 2 DPS are focusing one target it is impossible to keep them alive is leading at best. It's completely untrue if the focused target is a tank, has guard on them, if the DPS get taunted, if the target has defensive cool-downs ect. ect. What you are really saying is that it is no longer viable to use none of the damage mitigating game mechanics and opt to simply faceroll healing hotkeys and mitigate the output of 2 DPS's on one, squishy target.

tl;dr: You are not as good as you think you are, you're QQ'ing, get better team mates.

p.s.: To all of you "I was wth ever XYZ is and super star rank over 9000 in WoW" characters, we don't care. Nobody cares. It doesn't make your opinion any more valid and mostly makes you sound like a tool.

You most likely aren't a healer from the biased posted you just created.

That being said, I will with hold my real judgement on the state of pvp healing after the servers come up again. I really think there was a bug w/ expertise ratings that they stealth fixed this morning. The difference from yesterday to this morning was night and day, and honestly refreshing since being melted instantly the moment a dps noticed me.

I got in to 1 wz and I wasn't melting in seconds w/ cds, and mitigations.

  17. So, to the OP... If two (2) DPS classes decide that one person is gonna die, you cannot heal that person to keep up with 2 DPS classes damage?

    How is this unfair?

Cause it scales horribly, making it a massive dps fest and no reason to bring anything but dps.

    That's the point.

  18. I don't think that will last long. Calling targets has gotten a lot easier. We just call out a name. We used to say dps on 'name' Benny (our main sent) lock up 'healer'. Now we just call out an initial target and switch from there. We don't even mark heals anymore.

Yeah I started noticing after awhile playing the same teams, that as soon as I started to kite, they'd just blow up the next poor sap.

Its funny, im full BM gear, so anyone not BM gear....god I just feel so bad for.

  19. To say more about the mechanic change to the Combat Medic:

Someone up on page 12 or so (servers down forums explode with posts) said that commandos have no mobility. This is just not true.

Hammer Shot, Kolto Bomb, and Bacta Infusion can all be done on the run.

We do have a skill that turns a cast with a channel time into an instant cast.

If you have your progression set right you can throw a full batch of heals while only having to stop for 3 seconds.

Trauma Probe can be cast on someone in advance, so that's a periodic heal every 1.5 secs they have in their pocket, and it lasts for 5 minutes. It's a fire and forget skill you use even before combat starts.

I think the ammo changes were fine. It makes you have to play smarter and manage your ammo better, which is a welcome change. It raises the bar for skilled players who I'm sure are up for the challenge.

I disagree with the nerf to healing PERCENTAGE. I think overall the sage / sorcerer had the advantage over the combat medic in terms of raw healing, based on the AOE heal and their neverending source of force power (now wiped away in 1.2).

But I thought the combat medic had an edge in the areas of mobility and SINGLE TARGET heals. Being able to use Bacta Infusion instantly and on the move was the bread and butter.

With the percentage nerfs to the progression openers (Supercharge Cells / Kolto Bomb)you just don't nerf one skill, you nerfed the whole tree. You hit the base of the pyramid. You hit the foundation. Whatever analogy you want to use.

I think if you undo the percentage changes but keep the ammo nerf changes, the commando will be right where it should be.

The problem with those heals is how little they heal, vs how much mobility damage dps have. I can pop all those cooldowns and still be loosing hp overall, all while kiting.

  20. Close. What I'm saying is that you're the only class that, compared to the others, gets to significantly slow down the enemy's damage. You won't be able to outheal him cause he's tweaked to put out insane amounts of damage, but you'll end up eating more of it before you die, because of your heals. That means you get more time to hit them in return.

Now the thing is, the DPS is not tough, per se. He kills you fast, but he himself dies fast too.

If you focus exclusively on healing, he will keep piling damage on you till you die, because that's what he's designed to do. Most importantly, he'll be comfortable doing that.

So you won't win onl by using heals. It just won't happen, sorry. It's like a DPS trying to kill you without using interrupts. What you need to do is apply pressure on him in return, either through team help, or by doing it yourself. Hit him with dots and damage everytime you know there's no chance he can kill you in the next GCD - and you do have the tools to stay the **** away from those sabers.

The lower his HP gets, the further away he gets from his comfort zone, and, obviously, the closer to death he'll be. If you limit the time he has to kill you, he'll dish out less damage, and will be prone to make more mistakes as soon as he gets uncomfortable with the amount of damage he's taking.

You obviously don't play a healer in 1.2. I can tell that just by what you are suggesting. Burst down a dps as a healer..........
