  1. That is what is known as a Programmer. A developer is a company/individual that makes a game. In this case, the developer is Bioware. So, about the only argument I could see is for you to tell others not to blame all of the "devs"...which isn't a thing anyway. Blaming all the developers would mean you are blaming every company/person making games.
  2. By your own statement, this game isn't canon. Just saying.
  3. I play LotRO for free. Period. I play League of Legends for free. Period. I play Super Monday Night Combat for free. Period. Plus a whole slew of indie mmos and such that are free. Yes, some f2p mmos out there are not even close to free and they just use the phrase to rope people in and surprise them with a slew of fees, but there are true f2p games out there.
  4. I just find it amazing that you don't understand the difference between the game engine(client) and the servers.
  5. Here's the thing though...CERN may have disproved Einsteins theory on the speed of light. It's still up to a lot of debate, but they supposedly managed to move neutrinos faster than light. So, it's quite possible that the law of physics you think they are breaking is not, in fact, a law. Quick source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/8782895/CERN-scientists-break-the-speed-of-light.html
  6. That's a problem that does need to be fixed, yes. But not by one giant super server. In fact, by doing that and not settling other glaring problems like not having a LFG system, you won't see any differences. If you've never played STO(who HAS a giant single-server sharding), then let me tell you something: Each instance of a zone holds all of like 15 people. So you'll see almost nobody and still end up feeling like you are on a dead server. Of course, that's also ignoring the glaring fact that this game has much larger subscription numbers than other flourishing multi-server games, yet feels much more dead because they simply have too many servers. LotRO doesn't have this problem. EQ2 doesn't have this problem. AION, RIft, AoC, etc don't have this problem despite all having significantly smaller subscription numbers. So this idea that they need to make it all one giant sharded system is downright silly. If you think the game feels like a single player game NOW, you haven't a clue what you'd be in for with one giant server. Good luck ever meeting anyone more than once in your travels.
  7. Just because both of YOUR servers suck, or you are anti-social doesn't mean that my server is the same way. I know a ton of random folks on my server. When I go to warzones, I recognize most of the names every day. When I go to fleet, same thing. When I talk in channels, we know one another. Learn to be social and maybe you'd know what community actually means. Community isn't something the game can do FOR you.
  8. No. That'd be a horrible idea. STO tried that and it basically made the game void of any sense of community.
  9. Wow...some of you are really jaded individuals. I don't know why you are so angry over the simple premise of someone wanting to change their legacy name. I've never known another MMO that: A. Forces you to pick one surname for ALL of your characters(And makes the assumption that one of your characters will have this weird legacy with a ton of fully grown kids and the like, all living at the same time). B. Doesn't let you change the surname as you see fit. It's a stupid mechanic that breaks immersion and lore to be honest. Even though I have my legacy set up with one of my characters being a FRIEND to the head of the legacy, that FRIEND must have the same surname as this other individual. Stupid. But anyways, the inability to change a surname in-game is something that should be there. It has no link at all to your primary name. Nobody needs to type your surname in when they whisper you, invite you to group, add you to friends, etc. Therefor, the legacy name is no different than a piece of armor your character wears. It is fluff. It should be changable as you see fit. At whatever in-game cost the devs feel like setting.
  10. These hours suck especially moreso for me. I get off work at 1am EST...right when the damned servers are coming down
  11. Go play City of Heroes/Villains. Congratulations. You have now met a majority of persons more interested in leveling an alt.
  12. Yes. I do see a problem there. My scoundrel would literally be unable to solo any quests. My scoundrel is 100% dependent on the companion to survive. If I couldn't do anything without first finding a group, I would quit. Much as I did in EQ.
  13. You know, you're right. From now on, I'm going to take 10 seconds every minute or so to re-equip my companion. Most areas my level that I go to, he dies on most pulls, so I already have to resummon him. I might as well re-equip him too. And when I use my speeder to travel a little faster, I should re-equip him then as well. And when I change maps, ride a speeder, quick-travel, swap companions, etc. I should just re-equip them again. It's obviously no problem at all to re-equip your companion in the middle of questing when he dies every other pull. Heck, everyone should do it just for the sheer fun of it! I hope they break gear on our player characters too. We need to be forced to re-equip all of our gear between every fight!
  14. My smuggler(female) gets a TON of flirting options. Corso gets upset and jealous everytime I hit those options XD
