My job is to make money.
  1. Exactly. You know, the more I read some of these posts, the more I realize how far these guys have to go before they make a good game. Its terribly sad, because the things I enjoyed here, I did fall in love with. But, I'm glad I canceled my sub now, instead of letting it linger for far too long in hopes that this will be fixed.
  2. You know what would be a HUGE step in the right direction with getting in touch with their community of players? ... Letting us all test their content before its out... Allowing everyone the opportunity to copy their character over to the PTS.... just like Blizzard does. Oh look, something found in another MMO that has been completely successful... wow. Who would have thought? This is the sort of thing that I meant when it comes to BW & EA taking ideas from other MMO's in one way, so much so that the game falls into the same category of MMO, but then doesn't follow through with copying the basic things that have been the root of those MMO's success. In fact, on that note... they have copies things from other MMO's that just don't work. <_< Go figure.
  3. This is just hysterical. You really think that it was the players that were to blame for all that mess? Who decided to do an early launch in small numbers at a time? BW & EA. Who decided to bottle neck the servers during that whole commotion, only causing it to be worse than it was? BW & EA. Who then, as you said, made so many servers it inverted the issue and made it into what it is today? BW & EA. The fact is as simple as this. You can run around and try to place blame on the players all you want, but guess what... they don't make the decisions in the end, the game company does. And if there weren't so many messed up things that just kept on piling up, there wouldn't be much to complain about would there? These post of trying to blame the community for the lack of insight on making an MMO game that BW & EA have is just petty and seems like people lingering on their last thread of hope. "Oh, maybe if all these subscribers that are leaving finally get out of here, BW can actually have time to focus on important thing." No... sorry to bust your bubble, but no. BW will either get its act together or it won't. The only difference is that they either do it with a larger or a lesser community of subscribers.
  4. Now I know you are being blind. You think they are still here? lol. Who's being presumptuous again? Take a look at the number of people on the fleet as opposed to a month or two ago, and keep in mind that although most of those on the fleet will be level 50's, a bulk are players still leveling. People have moved to playing alts, just to pass the time, hoping that BW starts to get things right. Of course the devs are aware of what's going on. How can anyone assume otherwise? But they are by far NOT in touch with their game. It's comments like the ones you are making that show you're leaving behind critical thinking and are crossing the boarder into a fan boy way of thinking. The writing is on the wall, so to speak. A lot of people have already left. BW is giving away game time. Things that have been on their plate since before launch are still not taken care of or released. End game content is minimal. PvP is broken. Ilum is broken. World PvP is broken. GTN was bad to start with and is now broken. Crew Skills are broken. The one thing that was driving the fun experience in this game was the class storyline and they stop dead at level 50. The millions of dollars poured into the making of this game was largely used by voice acting to create an experience that BW didn't even follow through with. The game itself jumps around from idea to idea with no actual direction. For example; the class storyline, which as I said was a huge part of this game and stops abruptly, has absolutely NOTHING to do with the ops we can do at level 50. The story driven game that was experienced while leveling, poorly swaps over to a WoW-like approach to raiding ( which is very impersonal ) and BW tries to disguise it with small voice acted cinematic at the start of the fight. It in no way immerses you further into the game and loses complete sight into what was done right. Yet after all these things and more that I just don't even feel like bothering to type out anymore to make a solid point to you, you think that this company is in touch with their game? That's honestly not even worth me abbreviating a laughing response. Now, I do hope, as I can sense you do too, that this game somehow does become successful. But, it doesn't look like it will. The game industry isn't going to stop itself, just because one company can't get their ____ together, and games that have been released recently have already taken a large enough portion of the subs here. All the future has, is even more games ( mmo's or not ) that will continue to eat away at the player base here. So, are they in a critical moment of this mmo? Yes. Have they proven they can handle an mmo so far? No. Are they truly in touch with this game to satisfy the wants and even the needs in some cases of their player base? So far they have proven the answer to be no. You can toss out any excuse or sad story you want to try and defend the makers of this game, it adds up to nothing in the end though. Its a make belief setting in the game, but its the real world that BW & EA are in and excuses get little to no sympathy in the business world. Considering that you seem like an adult, you should know that.

    Simple PvP Fixes

Just some straightforward PvP fixes that no one I have ever talked to disagrees with ( But I'm sure a ton of you forum junkies will ) - Resolve & Diminishing Returns - This is a really simple fix to a situation that plagues PvP atm and has become worse since the Expertise changes from 1.2. No one likes to lose control of their character. Its just not fun. Although, in PvP ( according to popular belief ) CC is a must. So, we need diminishing returns to those CC abilities. Considering the fact that Resolve is already on the right track, my proposal is simply this: Allow the % of resolve you have already accumulated from previous CC to effect the duration of the following CC. ie: a 4 second stun fills your resolve bar up by 75%, so 75% of the duration of the next CC is removed, making the following 4 second stun have only a 1 second duration.... for a grand total of 5 seconds of stun. - CC Breaking Abilities - As it stands, our CC breaking ability is pretty useless. Let me explain why. Its on a 2 minute CD for most, 1.5 minutes for some. But, if you use it to break out of the first CC ( which only filled your resolve up to 75%, you will easily and more often than not, get CC'ed again for the CC's full duration. In other words for example, you either eat the for second stun and all the damage that comes with it in anticipation of the follow up CC then break free of the second CC. Or, you break free of the first CC and get CC'ed again... and eat the four second stun and all the damage that occurs during that time. My proposal? My first point and / or the CC breaking abilities we have maxes our resolve bar when used. I would even go so far as to say that these abilities should bring your resolve from 0% to 100% on use, effectively causing you to be non-CCable when its preemptively used, every 2 minutes. (1.5 minutes for some.... which I honestly find a little silly... but what ever. ) - Fire, Acid & Huttball - I am under the impression, and of course could be wrong, that these sort of "danger zone" mechanics will be used again in some new WZ. But even if its not and they only remain unique to Huttball, they need to be fixed. As of now, certain classes, like tanks for example, take less damage than others and Assassins and Shadows can completely negate its damage ( and sprint through it ). This leads to this map being the absolute most class / spec bias map in the game. I think that these obstacles should remove a solid % of health to any class / spec that gets stuck in them, despite talent choices or defensive CD's being used. Why? Because it would even the matches and make it more enjoyable for the majority. And if you are one of the classes that can escape one of these obstacles "scott free" and are upset by my opinion.... cry me a river, because deep down you know I'm right when it comes to balancing this map. =) Another thing for Huttball, is holding the ball itself, should put stacks of a damage amplifying debuff on the ball carrier. This will prevent the scenario of a tank carrying the ball with a healer or two from one end of the court to the goal, with ease. My idea is this... and this is just an example of what I mean: - Every 10 secs, the ball puts a debuff on the carrier that increases damage taken by 10%, stacking up to 10 times. - The stacks are reset when the ball is passed to another player, with an internal CD on the reset of 20 secs. In other words, every time someone holds the ball, they would accumulate at least 2 stacks of the debuff, equaling 20% damage taken, before they could reset the debuff. This would cause players to have to play more smart and encourage passing and team play. This diversity would make for a much more fun Huttball match. Where as now, if you have a solid healer and tank combo, they can almost carry the team. - Aleraan's Speeder Bikes - BW... you have gone back and forth on these side speederbikes having a cast time on them and not.... just remove them. It really is as simple as that. If they are removed, then defending them will be just as hard to coordinate as attacking them, and all players will have to do is adjust, making this map far more dynamic and all in all better than it currently is. - Tank Guard - The Guard ability is nice, I have to admit. It was nice to see tanks having a decent role in PvP as well as PvE. But it just doesn't work right. There is never a real reason for a player to swap their Guard around, they just leave it on the healer and make that healer excruciatingly difficult to kill. In a WZ like Voidstar... its dang near game breaking. Guard, imo, should work in one of two ways. Either its a short CD that leaves a solid window of opportunity and has to be used by the "tank" intelligently, or it should reduce the healing on that target by a large %. Forcing the tank to actually think about when to use Guard and who to use it on. Because right now, its a no-brainer... and its just annoying. Again, I'm sure there are going to be healers and tanks out there that have their fingers just itching with all the flame... But be honest, you know it would add PvP dynamic and reduce faceroll. - Group CC - This... is just... ridiculous. No one should have a group CC of any kind. Especially in a game that has so many knockbacks and LOS positions. - Roots Not Pushing Resolve - There really is no reason that roots shouldn't be affected by or push resolve. Don't believe me? I can prove it in one sentence. Your CC breaking ability will break you out of it. Funny, huh? So something that you can use your CC breaker on, because it can be that effective and used by smart player for a multitude of scenarios ( some that can outright kill you, btw )... is somehow not involved in the resolve bar? Not to mention, that a melee class is completely useless when rooted, since they can't get to their target. So should these roots really be outside resolve? Noway. Snares, sure. But , not roots. - Better CD Animations - Some CD animations are VERY apparent. But some of them have got to be the sneakiest things found in MMO's since Ninja Capping. Take the Marauder Undying Rage for example. You practically have to hit the player twice before you even notice its up, only noticing because you see your damage numbers are so low. Some good players will get away with hitting them once and noticing... and some barely notice at all... Point being, CD's in general should have very vivid animations. I honestly can't imagine any serious PvP'er playing this game that could possibly disagree with this one. ( Even though I can't imagine people disagreeing with any of these, but this one especially ) - Medals - I know some changes have been made to them already, but honestly, the way players acquire them still sucks. My biggest issue with the medals is simple; it doesn't create better players and it has nothing to do with the WZ you're in... its really just e-peen nonsense. Here's an example of what I think should be done. Each WZ should have its own set of medals that are specific to that WZ. Like, take Huttball. You could get a medal for passing the ball, scoring a goal, killing a player in fire, killing a player in acid, killing the ball carrier in acid or fire, grabbing the ball from mid, killing a ball carrier in your inzone, assisting a goal... etc... etc... If the medals were made in this manner and specific to the WZ itself, it would encourage players to actually do what they are supposed to do in these games and discourage deathmatching to farm medals. Now, I'm in no way implying that the current medals have to go, just that they could be far better. - Voidstar Spawn Doors - Last and actually least, but still up there all in all imo, the Voidstar spawn doors are a bit too long and yet at the same time, too short. But, its not really the timer on the doors that are too short, but rather the distance from them and the defending points. I actually think that's why the timer on these doors were made to be so much longer than the ones found in any other WZ. This fix would not be so simple, but its something to think about. However its done, the defender spawn point needs to be as far away from the doors that are bombed as the attacker span point is. Because its clear that its either too long that you're stuck behind those doors and the offensive team gets the bomb on with you unable to do a thing, its its far to short and the offensive team has no chance of placing a bomb. Basically it feels like its left up to RNG far too much. A solid and equal distance from those doors for both sides would be far better and leave out the frustration of this WZ for both the attackers that has to deal with killing players only to see them instantly back in the fight, and for the defenders being stuck behind a door completely helpless. For example, take the way that the new WZ, Novare Coast, and how each team is equal distance from the mid turret. Also how short the spawn door timer is. Even though you know you have to run back to where you have to attack or defend I know its long, but I think these things will make PvP in this game far better than it is. Please take note that I thought all of these things out thoroughly and I am in no way attacking a specific class or spec in this post, just making some serious suggestions. So please, try to refrain from the flaming just because I typed this on the forums. Thanks.
  6. Fair enough. I still find some of the coding to be of low quality, but fair enough. As gar as the things that were mentioned, I am willing to agree with you and the others that have mentioned the same thing. Thank you for pointing this out. Sadly, this still doesn't address the current state of the game, and no matter where the blame should fall, there is still something to blame on someone. Imo the clock is ticking and for the few people out there that are actually wanting this game to stick around for years ( myself being one of them ) I think its time we start to complain about more important things. Although I am still under the impression that BW is not doing a good job of picking and choosing their battles, so to speak. Not to repeat myself, but all of these things that they are focused on have left Ilum a waste of digital space. And don't forget that a recent poll showed to BW surprise that the majority of players in this game.... are PvP'ers. That being said, again... the basics are missing from this game as of now, and dispite its voice acting and eye candy... its very hollow feeling at end game.
  7. Look, unless you are saying that you are in fact COMPLETELY satisfied with the course of this games development over the past 5 months, I don't see where you are going with your post. There is an entire zone that is a dead wasteland, its called Ilum and BW has given up on it enough to remove the PvP daily from it. There are Crew Skills that don't apply to end game and are laughable. There are simple things missing from the game, such as duel specs, that were claimed to be released shortly after launch. And BW has given everyone a free month, because they know they are messing up that badly and are desperately trying to keep subscriptions. So your comment / argument doesn't weigh in to much in the ens. I'm actually surprised that there are people, like yourself, that are trying to defend the poor evolution of this game. And before anyone wants to claim that this game is young, it has been in development for years and has many other mmo's to leech great ideas from. Ideas that have almost become the standard of mmo's like this. Point being, if you are going to make a game in a genre, do your homework in the genre first and make sure you have all the basics before adding you own twist to it. As it stands, I still have very little to do on my main in this game... I level alts to take up time and try to feel like I'm getting my moneys worth.
  8. Here's good standards for you in an mmo and would fix a ton of things that are an issue with gear, from PvP to Ops gear, in one swoop. You put a time limit of say... oh... 2 hours, where the player can refund the item or trade it to another player that was in the Ops group. Makes sense right? But no, lets just continue wasting time by fixing every little thing, one at a time. Its exactly nonsense like what you wrote that is wasting time and pushing players away. Sure what you said is a fix. How can someone disagree with that? But its not a long term fix and its not something that should be a priority in a game that is this young and this full of bugs, imbalances and has a lack of things to do.
  9. Of course, but 15 minutes on all the insignificant things start to stack up, and the more important issues linger for far too long. That's the problem. You did bring up a very important thing that I forgot to list though. Testing. The PTS is a joke and ultimately goes nowhere as far as serious testing goes. A lot of these issues would be taken care of if BW would open up the PTS to all players instead of limiting it to a select few. What I mean by limiting it, is that there are only a few that can have a level 50 toon on the PTS from the start, the rest have to level up. When taking into account a patch like 1.2, where almost everything ( if not completely everything ) is all end game thing... you would think that they would allow players to test it. Its all done for free mind you, its not like you have to pay all of those people to test on the PTS.
  10. Look, I really don't want to insult, but its kind of hard not to at this point when just wanting to simply bring up the topic. But, what the heck are these devs thinking and where are their priorities? The last patch 1.2.2, was just a joke. Here is a serious example. I log on the game to find that when I try to buy Rated WZ commendations, the "Enter" key is now cancel for some reason. In light of all the more "game breaking" issues atm, why the heck is this even something that was done? Its not like the game decided to do this, people did... the devs did... but why are they wasting their time on completely insignificant things like this? I mean... what program on a computer in general says that the "Enter" key is cancel instead of accept? My point is there are a bunch of little changes like this happening each patch / fix that really have little to no effect on keeping players satisfied and subscribed. This sort of thing should be done once all the other issues in the game are taken care of. For example, atm when I level up any toon, I lose voice sound during cinematic cut scenes and this can occur during my class storyline quests. Why isn't this one of the top priorities, or at the very least, taken care of before making the "Enter" key a cancel button? There is the "Esc" key you know... <_< Anyways, I am not going to rant here, its just... I feel that this game will collapse very soon if things don't start to change. To list a few things ( in case for some CRAZY reason you are unaware, Devs ) that need serious attention: - Player Economy and the use of our Crew Skills. This stuff is such a joke and has been since the start. - PvP. Resolve bar and CC. Role bias maps ( like Huttball and how its set up for tanks ). Expertise ( We went from healers being near impossible at times to kill to a focus fire extravaganza with players "popping" left and right. Perhaps bring Damage and Damage Reduction back to where there werre, and remove healing from the list ? ) Etc.. etc.. - End game content is marginal and could use work all in all. - Focusing on what makes this game strong. Personally I think this is by far something that should be done with priority when "balance issues" settle down some. I have spoken with many people and all of them agree, one of the most unique and charming things about this game were the interesting "side quests". Like Datacrons for example. That stuff was really fun and kept me occupied and was a seriously innovative approach to "time wasters" in an mmo. I think it was one of this games finest ideas and things like this should be constantly added to this game, because sitting on the fleet gets old fast. Not to bring up the "Ol' Bastard" ... But it took WoW a long time before it melted down to players just sitting around in a main city and "queuing up" for a Battleground or a Dungeon. This game has been out only months.... and that stuff is already happening. Anyways, I know this was a tad long, but this stuff has got to pick up soon or this game is a lost cause. I myself have already canceled my subscription ( although I still have 50 days left... lol ). But, if things down take a turn for the better and fast, I will not be looking back, and I know I'm not alone on this. It will be a sad thing to let a potentially great mmo go to waste because its developers can't stay focused and in tune with their own game and player base. Here's hoping, but I'm not holding my breath.

    WZ queue glitch?

Wow... So this isn't a glitch that people are accidentally doing, its done on purpose... Well hopefully Bioware bans these @#$%'s. Because if they are willing to exploit with one thing, they are willing to do it where ever. Thanks for the replies dudes. Have a good one.

    WZ queue glitch?

Anyone else noticing a huge amount of people on the opposing faction as opposed to your own factions numbers? For example, I am on the Empire side, the last 3 queue's I have done have been vs. the Republic and we have had 8 people against their 14. Last one was Huttball. 8 of us, 14 of them. Now the game starts the countdown the moment the match starts, but it is impossible to win against that many people, so they just score / cap ( depending on what WZ and win. Anyone else noticing this issue since this patch?
  13. The entire WoW comparison was really starting to make me think he was paid by Blizzard to come up with the most amount of QQ possible to influence impatient players to leave ToR. He started to lose his credibility and my interest. Here are some of the comments he said that I find hysterical. Seriously, one of them almost made me fall off my chair laughing. - "...my computer runs WoW on ultra, with a hundred frames a second... so I kinda expect decent performance with my computer..." ( how many people have we made fun of about this? and this guy considers himself a "serious gamer". Serious enough to think his vids of PvP are important, yet he basis of comparison for his computer running games well is... WoW? lol ) - "The skill involved in ToR is here" *places his hand shoulder level* "The skill of WoW is here." *Places his hand high above his head* ( ... ) - "I know perfection. Perfection is Warcraft. It's hard to find a bug in Warcraft. And PvP balance is SOOO polished. It's really hard to... hard to disagree with that." ( It has taken Blizzard 8 years to come as far as they have and they still can't get over things like spec of the month, serious class imbalances, faction favoritism, map imbalance, etc... etc... In fact, a lot of tournament holders have disregarded WoW as serious PvP because of its imbalance and removed it from their list of games. ) Idk... I thought it was funny. That being said, there are some points that he makes that I agree with.
