  1. You are questioning the credibility of a sci-fi movie, with supernatural abilities and multiple alien races, which was first released in 1977? And you'd like to sound smug about it as if your sudden flash of intelligence has never been realized by others before you? /facepalm
  2. /facepalm And this thread gets 20 pages how??? /headdesk
  3. You can easily produce the same result by using your regular recall device to the taxi station with a FP shuttle in game, which will send you back to the fleet immediately. There's a FP shuttle on every planet outside of the starter ones such as Hutta and Korriban. And your recall thingy only has a half hour cooldown. But a lot of people haven't seemed to bother checking out anything that doesn't have a quest icon, so they just think that they have to use the fleet pass. I've used the emergency fleet pass a few times on my main before realizing that it's much easier to just recall to FP shuttle and go straight back to fleet. No need to wait for 18 hour cool down or run through the spaceport. The fleet pass with a shorter cooldown is just a bonus on top of the added security to those who have gotten an authenticator.
  4. Gemstone IV still has all those qualities you desire, maybe you should give that game a try. It's a decent MUD for those who want to take their time. I played it on and off for about 3 years. Also EQ for 3 years. DAoC for close to 3 years. CoH for a bit over 5 years. CO close to 2 years. Aion for about a year. Rift for a year and half. And lastly WoW for a little over 3 years. I've also tried some other well known titles, most of which either flopped spectacularly (WAR) or just not up to my taste (FFXI). The point is, after a while you realize that everything you can possibly accomplish in a game leaves absolutely nothing meaningful in the grand scheme of things in life. And as you grow up, there are other practical matters which take priority. In my case I had to finish school, got a job, searched for better jobs, and while I was having fun lvling up and making gold/gil/credits/etc in whichever MMO-of-the-moment, I was more concerned about getting the next paycheck, paying the bills, and contemplating between continue my education for a higher paying job or settling down and buy a house. I got my first credit card to pay for EQ monthly, and now, well, other things happened along the way. I remember everything you mentioned, but frankly older gamers like me and you went through all those because there weren't alternatives. Games evolve, we adjust and make demands. What you see today is just an accumulation of multiple Quality of Life changes implemented in a way that closely mirrors the society's general lifestyle. Can't say that it's for the best, but I'll glady take what's available and enjoy the ride while it lasts. You want real achievement instead of those XBox-move-your-character-good-job Achievements? Have a life, have a good life, and ensure that your kids get to enjoy their lives and the time spent growing up with you. That, is a worthy achievement. Being proud of getting a server first or standing on the pinnacle of whatever you do in a game is for those who have nothing more important. The lowest common denominator also represents the most numerous number of potential customers, thus offering the highest amount of profit. If not Blizzard, then some other company would've done the same thing. And judging by the kind of money they've made, one would find it hard to argue otherwise. Blizzard made the right call and was aptly rewarded. You know what this means? Other games would try to emulate the success, think about that for a second. We are gonna have more MMOs where left/right click spam would carry you through 90% of the game content.
  5. Actually I'd suggest you to take a break. Play some other games, get some books to read, hang out with friends, whatever/etc. You've got 2 50's already, doing another one at your current pace would probably burn you out half way through. The best way to keep a game interesting is to play less of it.
  6. It was fixed for me after patch 1.1.0c, but something in 1.1.1 broke it again. Now I get error 9000 together with 4001 which crash the game completely.
  7. She's like one of those sweetest partners you could ask for, until you realize just how far off into the deep end she can go in order to do what she thinks is right. And being sweet to you just happens to be that. So far. Until situations place you in a similar situation as her old man. Then it's purging time.
  8. When I had this bug I also discovered that the companion doing a gathering mission can be queued up for additional crafts. For example, I had Doc running a Scavenging mission, and I was able to have him queue up 4 earpieces to craft. The additional crafting tasks would not show up on the progression bar, but they did get crafted. A bug within a bug, heh.
  9. Not sure if being obtuse or just trolling. Eh, probably just trolling, no one can be -that- dense and poor in reading comprehension. Also, Tony Soprano? Is your writing so bad that you can't articulate your rationale, and instead you need to cite some fictional TV character?
  10. Yes, I can safely assume the intention behind the current design, but I was saying that by looking at crafters using various ways to bypass that design in order to get as many metal missions as possible, it is clearly not working out well. And it should be changed. The problem is that with other missions available, the clutter frequently leaves no viable choices, especially if the crafter's intention is to do bountiful/rich yields in order to obtain purple mats from a crit. By having the choice of having a full log of specific mission types, you'd at least be guaranteed to have a rich and/or a bountiful mission. Keep in mind that I'm not asking for a full list of rich yields, but a full list of specific missions of various yields. The result is still no different than those who keep reloading areas to refresh the randomly generated missions, but the process will be much faster and sensible.
  11. Let's also fix evolution in the game. A character that dumb has no right to survive after the first fall.
  12. Apparently you can't even do something that skill-less. Staying light/dark/neutral means absolutely nothing so far, and changing alignment is so easy there's simply no reason to stubbornly remain neutral as far as equipping a relic is concerned. Of course you may have some RP reasons to adamantly remain neutral, but if that's the case why are you whining so much about not having 1 relic slot empty? Can't you RP something worthwhile out of that decision? Or is your inner munchkin speaking louder than whatever RP preference you have?
  13. Too bad this game isn't exclusively dedicated to fans, eh? The more colors the better, I need to recruit some marauders so we can have a rave at the local cantina next time.
  14. So many ways to raise your alignment points, posting on the forum whining about it ain't one.
  15. Implement set armor for Armortech and Synthweaving from low level (around Hammer Station lvl) to "end game" tier. Learned via recipes dropped in FP/world/OP. Initial products are green but can be further RE'd into purple. Stats at blue should be comparable to commendation pieces, but superior when including the set bonus. More toys and utilities - dyes, social gears, permanent stat boosters on individual gear pieces, boe mounts, pets, temporary buffs (that are not covered by biochem), etc. Bottom line: crafting should offer something that's either superior to other alternatives, or being an exclusive source of desirable products.
