  1. No idea if this was intended or wrongly look over, but as the title said the Biochem trainer lacks a recipe for a green strength tank implant in the list of recipes intended for level 41 (item level 92). The current list of implants available at that range from the trainer are: Psychotropic Awareness Motivator (43 End, 39 Will, 18 Acc, 24 Power) Psychotropic Cardio System (43 End, 39 Cunn, 24 Pow, 18 Alac) Psychotropic Might Package (47 Stre, 40 End, 15 Acc, 21 Pow) Psychotropic Reflex Enhancer (39 Aim, 43 End, 18 Acc, 24 Pow) Psychotropic Rejuvenation System (39 Aim, 43 End, 24 Pow, 18 Alac) Psychotropic Resistance Implant (55 End, 35 Will, 13 Acc, 18 Abs) Psychotropic Resolve System (40 End, 47 Will, 21 Pow, 15 Ala) Psychotropic Response Implant (35 Aim, 55 End, 13 Acc, 18 Abs) Psychotropic Skill Package (40 End, 47 Cunn, 15 Acc, 21 Pow) If you take a look at the list above, there are: 3 aim implants for the 3 roles. 3 will implants for the 3 roles 2 cunning implants for the 2 roles. 1 single stre implant for dps.
  2. Sorry for reviving this old thread, but I want to share something about the mouse over heal. First, while many players in WoW used an addon that provided elegant group layout with the convenience of mouse over heal, an addon is not needed at least for the mouse over part. My last run in WoW after taking an absence from SWTOR a couple of months ago, I end up using an UI for the gui layout (always hated wow defaults). But instead of using healing addons, I just simply used macros to change the skill I was using and depending on if the target (mouseover) was friendly, or not. The best, is that unless those primitive mouse over functions were changed (very rarely), with that approach I do not have to worry by addon breakage on patches. Another thing, the mouseover healing action in itself provides faster healing than the 2 clicks method: click to select, click to cast. It can easy be a second difference. In dps, a second is nothing. In healing can mean a party/ops member is dead.
  3. Man, is holiday. Give them a break. Most if not all MMO's published minor and not so minor patches prior to Dec 23 so they will spend some free time while people was busy in the holidays with the new content.
  4. In most games you usually don't see an engine change, only visual and optimization tweaks. So I may said that this will not happen. Only and that is a very very small if... maybe in a big (disk based) expansion if it ever comes.
  5. I think the stealth detection is intended, and a way to have the stealth based chars change mechanics, thus making certain encounters more entertaining. For the pve based operatives, I always think the problem is not in the dps generation itself, but that they do not have a fast travel method to get behind target, thus wasting too much time by just (in combat speed) walking until getting behind target. In mobs like the robot in EV, that can easily be like 5 secs of ZERO DPS. Like I said before they need a kind of teleport, or like some builds in TSW, a kind of jumping charge ASAP.
  6. I found less lag in 1.6 than in 1.5 actually. CPU: Intel Core Duo GPU: Radeon 7850, Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11, 12.11 CAP 2 & custom swtor profile by me. OS: Windows 7 64-bit But as a suggestion, always in this kind of post, specify the CPU, GPU and OS information, that probably will help better the developers in finding any issue more than... "I have lag problems in patch xxxx" PS. Recently was found that some ATI cards have a noticeable lag (I notice too but was blaming the game), and it affects a lot of titles, not just SWTOR. http://techreport.com/review/24022/does-the-radeon-hd-7950-stumble-in-windows-8
  7. PvP sucks big time in this game. Yes many warzones like Huttball are fun, but wz are practically the only PvP system in this game. By game design world PvP is nearly non existent. Illum event was badly designed. Open world PvP areas offer no additional rewards so there is not much point in going inside them (ex Tattoine desert PvP zone). Also open world PvP in PvP servers is lame because again by design half of the leveling both factions level on separate zones and/or planets. Again if people take a look at korean/chinese truly F2P games, they will find a boatload of PvP content. Things that should be done to address the pvp issue: 1. Join the factions on the planets. Will not be easy since it requires massive changes to some planets But what is the point in PvP servers if you can't find the opposite faction at all in some planets since factions visit them in different timelines (Taris and Balmorra) or different questing areas like Nar Shaddaa. Except for the first 2 planets which are more like a tutorial to the game, the other planets should keep factions together. 2. Made more people oriented PvP. Examples of that are Guild vs Guild, and even have a kind of Billboard where people can see the standing. 3. Territorial Wars. With those end-game (and not end-game too) commendations dropping or rewarded everywhere, would be nice to have a system where guilds can fight for territory control, and having as reward extra commendations or tokens when doing quests, flashpoints or dailies when controlling an area. 4. Invasions. Would be nice as Empire/Republic to invade capital planets and kill certain key targets (like Satele). But keeping it away from regular leveling areas so lowbies do not get their leveling affected by bullies. Even if area is not separated, this can be done by having quests/vendor npc's and lowbies flagged as friendly. That could also be done as a weekly event for example to keep a kind of control. In the PvE side I may said they are going the right way. If there is no new reward in the new operations, they why people will bother doing them in the first place. That's the nature of PvE, always heading to the latest flashpoint or operation to get the best in game gear at the time. Then rinse and repeat.
  8. Never played SWG, but here PvP is a kind of joke. * World PvP is nearly non existent because half of the maps separate Republic players from Empire. The notable exception is Tatooine which I found it's layout excellent, resembling Arathi Basin battleground from WOW. Two faction at opposite sites, whole map to kick (or get kicked). Which I add: Why creating PvP servers when half or more of the maps do NOT allow interaction between factions... Fail Fail Fail. * Warzones -> nicely created, and varied. Found them very entertaining. * World auto PvP zones. Places where you get flagged automatically. Would be nice if they get a daily or some event on the planets they are available, to increase player participation.
  9. If those last 3 movies where filmed by the time the episode 1-3 where filmed, at that time I may felt kind of insulted or back-stabbed. But reality is that in this year neither of the original actors are in a very nice physical condition to film the 3 movies in the timeline when Skywalker returned to Tython and restarted the Jedi Academy. In the end, depends upon timeline of story, but I think will not be disappointed if original actors are not recast to do their original roles. But I will get very pissed-off if they don't cast them in the original roles, but give them cameos as other characters.
  10. And a last note to the offtopic adquisition. Unlike Lucas who said was not going to make more Star Wars movies, Disney already said they will do Episode VII, VIII, IX, starting 2015.
  11. In the news I read the adquisition included: Lucasfilm Industrial Light and Magic Skywalker Sounds Skywalker Ranch No mention of LucasArts. Either (a) the adquisition was to get another movie division like Marvel or Pixar, where a game division has nothing to do with, or (b) the game division has some money loss somewhere and they said no.
  12. Developers use the instanced planets to spread players since graphic engine sucks and slows down to a crawl if too many players (or different ones) are on the same area.
  13. My biggest fail was on Tatooine, founding that some items rewarded codex entries (Lore Objects), a friend and I found those glowing bones in the middle of Dune Sea, click on it without reading what it was, and we both were dead a couple of seconds later. Months later learned that it was the spawning point for the world boss.
  14. And content apart, up to 4 specs. So if I'm an Inquisitor or Sage, then I can have with a single char: * PvE dps spec * PvE healing spec * PvP spec * a free slot to play with (in Rift usually means trying Melee or something else)
  15. Humm... I played WOW until patch 4.3.2. While the gear was different, the end game raids were available in LFG, so everyone was able to see the story (and killing the bad dragon). After that, then doing the same raids again and again in LFG for gear drops if you don't have them, or doing the same raids again and again with a guild to get a higher leveled item clone of the ones dropped in the LFG raid. And if you don't get tired, then doing the same raids again and again for the top of the line end-game heroic items which also are clones of the ones in LFG raid. Yes, End Game gets repetitive. It gets repetitive here, it gets more repetitive there. I suggested one time that some big changes need to be done in PvP. Since all PvE content is repetitive when completed, the future is more PvP. Mean territorial wars where a guild get control of an area or planet for extra resources/money/XP, server wars, guild vs guild fight, etc, etc. It's incredible how companies look at the F2P alternative and they oversight one important aspect. The original games that indroduced F2P sucked big time at PvE, but excel at PvP. Perfect World is the 2nd Grossing MMO company after mighty granddaddy Blizzard and got that 2nd position with only F2P games with offer clumsy interfaces, OK graphics, crappy PvE experience, but with very strong, entertaining, and challenging PvP.
  16. I said working as spected... But that doesn't mean crashing like crazy, I also have to restart like 5 times. Around a game restart every hour or hour and a half. Sadly this game had a memory leak since release. If you watch the memory consumption of the game, it keeps increasing until resources are eaten. I don't know if they looked at it, but is easily verified by the Windows Task Manager app. The more areas you visit, the faster the game eats the memory. On a 32-bit windows under normal pre 1.4 patch it may give you 4-6 hours playtime.
  17. One question. How can they be able to test a new operation mechanic if people have the latest top notch gear, which even in normal servers people sometimes go under gear? There was no need for an end-game char with the highest lvl gear to test most of the features introduced in this patch (LFG changes, graphic changes, group loot changes, etc). That's gear may only be needed for raiding people that will test the new raid, and which probably already have the current highest gear anyway. End game operation testing is for people that reach that current end-game status and has gear, not for any regular player that is probably "Ok" at dungeons, that break stunts on every pull because he don't know even that CC means, or is using the incorrect stats/gear (Operatives using AIM, heavy armor knights/warriors using medium armor). If you can't get past EV, then the others new or old operations are away from you.
  18. For me (ATI Radeon 6xxx card, old Intel Core Duo chip): * New shadows worked, and worked as spected * Saw an improvement (not that big on my setup) increase in framerate * Saw a couple of weird plants on Quesh, but not seeing any other artifact or render issue apart from that. * Shadows have a penalty on the framerate. But any game that has shadows ON has a penalty on frames. Sometimes the penalty is big, sometimes is not. But if people want MAX framerates, then... Turn Shadows OFF. PS. Later gonna try the game on my latop (ATI Radeon 6xxx mobile, AMD Quad-core chip) and see how it behaves.
  19. Interesting, looks like we got what is known in programming as a "Regression" . Wasn't that the way the schematics worked in early game versions, somewhere before patch 1.2?
  20. Haven't leveled a Vanguard past 30, but if I remember correctly, yes they were most effective in the 10 meter range (at least the build I had). Some moves are not available if you are farther than that. Remember how people came straight to me thinking I was a mere "Commando" and got the bad surprise that I owned them in close.
  21. One of the discussions since patch 1.1 was that Operatives DPS was low compared to other classes. I think the problem never was the DPS, but how fast they can reach the target. BH/Troop, Inq/Sage, Warriors/Knight, Gunslinger/Sniper all have either long range or fast travel mechanism. But Ops and Scoundrel do not have any fast way of getting to target, and most range moves do suck since they are melee classes. They can take up to 3-4 secs to get to a boss (after hiding from EV droid missiles for example), so their DPS output is seriously affected. TO BIOWARE DEVS: Scondrel/Ops NEED a teleport ASAP. 1 min cooldown to prevent spamming on PVP should be ok. An idea given here was a nice one, providing a immunity for a couple of secs (2-4) would have been a better option, or limiting the range ONLY on warzones, but keeping normal (pre 1.4) range on world PvE, Flashpoints, and Ops.
  22. Not for me. While I haven't the fastest machine (only a Dual Core 2.4 GHz and a 6850 Video Card), I noticed some things that got broken lately. * Lag apparently is back, specially noticed in PvP (more on that later). * People/boss position is not accurate (lag???), is noticed a lot in PvP. Dunno if it's connection related or engine related. Sometimes they looked like stuck on a place, while they are not. * Timings on interface (specially crafting timers) have gone very erratic since 1.2. * Toolbar actions not available when cooldown animation is over. Sometimes take like 2 secs after cooldown animation ends. Could be related to previous timing problem, or just lag. Again is more visible in PvP. But also to give credit, I like the new warzone, the world event indroduced this week. If they keep adding events like this one to change the normal routine, is nice.
  23. I think this game is not that bad shape. Yes some servers have been hitted badly by the decrease in population. For example in one I had a 45 ops, was one of those unofficial Brazilian/overseas server. I got tired of too many people speaking Portuguese on chat that decided to re-roll on another server. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one. A couple of days went to see how the server was doing and that one in particular its population have decreased. But have seen PvE servers with over 250 on fleet + over 100 in Coruscant. And that's not counting other planets or the Empire side.
  24. Yes, WOW and SWTOR are very poor in the pvp department. For people that really like PvP, I recommend the Chinese free 2 play games which provide things like realm vs realm, territory wars, guild vs guild, fortress wars (you can have ally guilds helping take on a bigger one), among other things.
