  1. I'm quite happy with my current setup, though I haven't really played with theorycrafting min/max stats. I try to have about 45% crit, and the rest I pop into alacrity. I know people swear by alacrity, but very little of my Force regeneration comes from sitting idly by and waiting for alacrity to increase it over time. There's also a sense of satisfaction seeing large healing numbers thanks to crit. Still, if you have the money, craft or purchase crit augments and test healing some tactical flashpoints with stupid DPS that seem to try to kill themselves at every turn. If you can keep them alive, you'll know you're gearing correctly.
  2. I've been using the hybrid spec, though not quite the one linked on the first page. I dropped the 2 points in Shock, since I never use it, and instead used it for another 2% critical. However, since double dipping Force Lightning will be fixed in 1.3, it looks like I'm going to have to go all the way up the Lightning tree. I followed your report, the one that said that overall, the hybrid spec had an edge over all of them (at least the report as of a month ago). If it now shows that Lightning is better, then that shall be the way to go! I was near the top in DPS when I wasn't healing, so here's to hoping that the trend will continue.
  3. You grabbed a piece of gear meant for assasins, and used it. You should look for the armor piece of the same type, itemized for sorcerers. That being said, the itemization for this game is really off. The best-in-slot off-hand right now seems to be the Black Hole assasin generator, since it has a ton of willpower and power. No other gear can match it, as far as I've seen. Again, when you're going for implants, go for the Rakata stalker's set, since it's a massive upgrade over the caster set. If you have more than 6% alacrity, start swapping out mods from other sets. Often, a raid drop for mercenaries or operatives can have mods that are better than what your set pieces contain. It's not wrong to need on those pieces of gear.
  4. I made myself a complete augmented PvP War Hero set, all augmented. I had to cry a little as I power-leveled my Valor, though queuing from Ilum really helped. Really, I wanted a set that looked good, and that would allow me to stand out in the crowd a bit. Having all slots augmented, and a guild member with a great endurance/willpower/power mod from some Black Hole gear he reverse eengineered, I either hit or heal for a good 20% more than when I was wearing 4-piece Rakata. The fact that I look good while doing it, is a happy bonus.
  5. Hi Kor, nice to see someone actually respond to me, and correct some of the things I said, especially you, as it is based on information from your website. Using the charts you posted on your post here: http://mmo-mechanics.com/swtor/forums/Thread-Stat-DR-Graphs I kind of assumed that crit plateaus out at 40% from your graph. The curve would go flat at around 1500. What my post here is trying to get at, is that if you purchase a piece of gear (even if its not for your own class), and grab a mod from it that would benefit the Sorcerer more, for both DPS and healing (I don't see any differences in stat desires). Plus, with campaign gear allowing you to pull the set bonuses, there should be a consensus amongst the Sorcerer community regarding what stats to focus on.
  6. True, but i find it's easier to stack Willpower over Power.
  7. It's having the talent that allows Force Lightning to cast twice as fast every 10 seconds. If you spam the button, it allows you to get the 2x cast time twice in a row. It is a bug, and it doesn't always happen. I can confirm that it still is broken as of last night's EV run. It was double-dipping as it has before the patch.
  8. I'm an officer in a small guild, we managed to trudge on through Eternity Vault, Karagga's Palace, and managed to do both on heroic, though it was tough as we were on the cusp of hitting the enrage timer on every boss encounter. I scavenged the Internet and managed to find a few really good min/max sites explaining the mathematics behind SWTOR. The more I learned, the more I realized that the gear I was wearing, though appropriate for my spec, was completely insufficient for its role. All of our gear is heavy in Alacrity and light on the rest. I managed to get the Rakatta offhand and implants because they were far better than the caster versions of the same type. I've crafted an entire set of orange augmented gear, and was able to obtain the endurance/wisdom augment, which I shall be using on all my gear. In the end, I should be a lot more useful to my guild. In operations, we're starting to roll on other gear, like Operative or Bounty Hunter gear, to rip out the mods and use it in our own orange pieces. Here's the reason why. It has been proven that more than 9% alacrity is wasted, as diminishing returns would negate most of its benefit, and focusing on other stats should be the way to go. For proof, go and watch: Surge caps out at 30%, while crit's benefit seems to slow down at around the 35% mark,, and I would assume that it caps out at 40%. Being geared in full Force Master or Force Mystic gear does in no way make you a more effective Sorcerer than a Tionese/Columi geared player with mods shifted to crit/surge. Alacrity seems to help drain the Force bar of many healers, and since one of our main healing Sorcerers swapped his gear around, his output is that much greater, and never really seems to run out of Force. Whereas he used to use Innervate on me for a total of about 4500, maxing out crit and surge, he is able to easily multi-crit during the channel and top out 6000 healing. He rarely uses Dark Infusion and never uses Dark Heal (not even on any bars), and he's able to push out some amazing numbers. Throwing shields around, Resurgence on the tank and Innervate whenever it's up, as well as Revivification whenever it's off cooldown allows him to conserve his Force bar significantly. Here's how I figured out which stats to focus on. 1. Willpower (no DR, also affects critical percentage) 2. Critical Rating (tops out at 25%) 3. Surge Rating (tops out at 30%) 4. Alacrity Rating (steep DR curve, and you should try to keep it in between 9% and 15%) Feel free to roll on gear from other healer types, like Mercenaries and Operatives, since the "Enhancement" portion of the gear is similar (if not identical) to Sorcerer gear. The Black Hole set that just came out is terrible, but there are some mods in there that are beneficial, so feel free to cherry pick the different components to maximize your output. Don't forget to throw in the Endurance/Willpower augments in every enhanced crafted orange gear you have, to help your healing/damage throughput. In conclusion, you can be at your best wearing parts from Sorcerer healing, Sorcerer DPS, Assassin DPS, Mercenary and Operative healing pieces, than anything per-fabricated, that you can get off drops. Don't feel shy getting Tionese or Columi mods and inserting them into your shiny Rakata gear. Though, chances are, you'll be wearing orange!
  9. I have played a number of MMOs throughout the decades, and I can honestly say that SWTOR is by far the most immersive and fun to play. The stories make you really feel a part of the universe. The bar has been set really high for any new MMOs coming out. The next great MMO will easily take 5+ years of development, oodles of cash, great stories and even better game play. I can't wait to hear about all the new goodies that will be in-game. Please BioWare, focus on making the game fun, adding story elements, and ignore the constant whiners on the forums. If you listen to too many whiners, we'll end up with Jedi panda!
