As a sniper from a pvp standpoint i just want to know if i'll still have no defensive cd, no assist, still no tech damage in MM and no dispell + horrible regen and no switching capability in lethality, with completely worthless 31 pts and bugs and the worst vurvability in the game, and still outdpsed by some hybrid classes. It's simple, did you completely overhaul snipers/gs in pvp? Y/N, not needed to be specific. Some people just want to know if you at least tried to balance the classes for rated plays. For the time remaining while waiting for the patchnotes i could either waste my time continueing to play my sniper (that's a dead weight for team pvp atm, but nearly all the pvp snipers rerolled anyway) or finish to lvl and stuff my marauder (which is mandatory).

  3. Lol, sometimes we can't reposition ourselves because every class has a snare. Our kb is bugged, we don't have a sprint. Entrench fades if we move. other ranged have twice the survability and heals. Srsly the only thing you need to do to pwn casting snipers is to los them or outdps them if you see entrench (pop saber ward and immune if he's MM spec GG) and to forcechoke/stun/.... if you don't. Should be easy. Or l2p
  4. So you don't know how your class works. Call the switch on someone ungarded on mumble, the moment your marauder charges the guy open on him, he'll 100 % die quasi-instantly without being able to move, if he breaks your opener you'll stun him, flash his mates. Ho and you can presap another player before, if he does not cc break he'll be dead weight. Plus you have great dps out of stealth. Stop trying to solo pvp and be smart, of course you'll think your class sucks if you try to open and solo a merc with guard up rofl. Shadows need procs and buildups for their burst, you don't. And by the time they throw their rocks you'll have done as much damage. GG
  5. I should create a thread "heals for snipers". Would make as much sense as this one. And maybe it'll work considering operatives are already in a much better state than snipers in pvp, but noone plays sniper so yeah... xD. Game is already a huge zergfest and melees aren't kitable unless you only play huttball.
  6. Good points. And yes leth/eng rules for 1v1s, good burst an aoes. BUT the spec has huge drawbacks (full leth too) ! If not you wouldn't see MM speced snipers for pvp. -You can't switch targets : your setup needs 2 dots minimum and cull, and that's a lot of energy. + your corrosive grenade gets dispelled ? No damage for 12s gg. leth would need a dispell protection on dots AND on stealth classes debuff removing mechanics. -you think it does insane burst because you don't have any damage done before culling. 3 dots + explosive probe and you already spent 4gcds on your target. In the same time mercs would have lolmissiled their target. Technically yes you do absurd damage while culling but dps wise it's not that impressive. -Even without switching you use a LOT of rifle shots if you don't have your adrenaline probe. Dot rifleshot dot rifleshot dot rifleshot explosive probe rifle shot cull. If you don't do this you'll already be below 60 % energy and will do subpar assist dps. The regen with crits and cluster bombs comes too late. You know something is wrong with the spec when you spend half the time rifleshoting.
  7. So you're saying l2p because you top dmg in pugs ? And you're not even bm yet so you did not pvp much with your sniper ? Then i'll say it again, even monkeys can do this. If your objective is to top dmg in pugs, don't play sniper, play merc or better, play hybrid sorc and spam aoe, plus you'll get a lot of healing done too (so pro lulz teh scores). Evasion is situational at best in pvp. Shield probe does not scale. The cover defensive buff does not work in pvp. Cover is bugged. Weapon damage sucks and does not get reliable damage. Entrench and balistic shield need rework. Fix these issues first and i mean ALL of them, then we'll talk. Until then snipers suck hard (and can still top dmg in pugs, but only scrubs care). Other facts for you : - there was a lot more snipers of snipers at release, at 50. -they ALL rerolled marauder/operative and dit not look back, and they still play. -i'm often the only sniper i see in wzs, and i mean 95% of the time. -and i talk a lot with others pvpers on my server. Noone and i mean noone will take at least one snipe for arenas/rated wz. -blah blah.
  8. Useless in competitive play, the only kind of play where you can judge the balance of classes. Good for you if you enjoy pugging and sniping/doting from afar. I don't care, even monkeys can do this and top damage with every ac. Yep i agree, stop counting the numbers, continue to enjoy when everyone (yourself included) knows you're a wasted slot. **** damage on ball carriers, far less dps than mercs in pvp and a lot more squishy.

  10. or you could l2read and l2p. I'm not complaining about the defensive cds themselves, i'm talking about the fact others acs can still properly damage the same target while gs/snipers just can't. And i'll still try to burst the ball carrier if he's not assisted by a horde of healers thanks, that's what we call playing the objectives and being useful to your team.

  12. With the current state of the game, serious pvp groups will NEVER take this ac, class is alrdeay the least played by far and will be 100% dead once rated wzs come out. I'll start with facts : the ac had so many bugs it was nearly unplayed for the 1st month post release. A lot of bugs persist, the 2 most known being the cover root bug and the unkown effect cover bug. We can't cover on ledges, on some places and we can't cover while rooted. Huge on gameplay, still no fix. People spec either MM/SS or leth/df(or hybrids with pts eng/sabo) for pvp. All MM/ss are weapon damage, and thus being negated by ALL armor/defense/shield mechanics. Someone takes the ball and pops defensive cds, even if he's a dpser, and guess what ? Nearly completely IMMUNE to all YOUR damage. Marau with saber ward ? Enjoy being chain deflected, my record being 7 chained deflections. Sorcs and mercenaries will hit. Even without defensive cds you get a LOT of deflections, playing against a lot of assassins ? Yup you'll be useless and do no damage at all but others ranged classes will do just fine. Why would be penalised this way ? because of your godlike dps in pvp ? Lol no we don't top dmg chart in wzs. Leth/df gets good damage, better mobility. But if only one or your poison/bleed effects gets dispelled in your rotation you will loose all your burst and be 100% useless for the whole wz. Ops/assas can clean dots. Mercos & ops dispell them. And people use them in group pvp. Plus it will lose the ONLY utility it offered, annoying nondispelling comps for tagging objectives (see next patchnotes). I remember listening devs talking about snipers/gs in previews for swtor, they said we were a very strong class for defending positions. Ho god the liars. Fact is, gs are the WORST class ever for defending, first, we have no defensive cds, shield probe is laughable at best (1.5K+ dmg absorbed ? really ?) and evasion SUCKS, all acs minus snipers mainly use power or tech abilities, and all bypass evasion, hell even marauders are more effective than SS gs against evasion. Meaning our ONLY defensive tools are our hps and our armor, which are laughable too. You cant' defend turrets or doors because there are objects EVERYWHERE. See a sniper ? go behind the turret and tag, he'll need to reposition himself and will be a free hk. Or you could send a stealth class to trishot him too. In group pvp it's the same, turret and get losed, move and get trained. Op opens on you, maraura charges you and you are instantly below 10%, sorcs bubble sprint away, mercs tank a minimum, you die. Cover should be a core mechanic for a class, not a gimping mechanic . It gives us 20% bonus RANGED defense, and it only works against our mirror only if he's specced MM/SS, what a crap. Cover has a huge delay after activation if you want to remove it. See someong aoeing after deploying cover ? your character will herderp mini for 1 whole second. Yup. Gets a small delay upon activation to actually DO stuff. Want to snipe ? Wait 0.3s for the animation, spam your bind and pray. Sometimes cover pulse does not work on melee targets with no resolve, implying you're not already rooted and you can use your tools. Entrench/hunker down and ballistic shield/scrambling field SUCK SO MUCH. See a sorc ? Pop entrench, he sprints behind pillar. Don't pop entrench ? Get bumped/stunned and no matched ? If you poped entrench and try to reposition yourself ? Well you can't, you lost the buff, will be rooted and won't be able to cover. Same with ballistic shield, ****** range, the bonus is crap and if you don't have entrench to back it up, you won't last more than 2s in cover. It's a pve ability. Remove it completely and give us our reusable defensive cd (less than 2mn cd, like other classes). Our ccs and utility are awesome...some snipers think, until they realise they have the only melee stun, the ranged class with THE melee stun rofl. Plus legshot can be deflected and has a huge delay. Want to root soemone ? Too bad he'll already be behind the fire/pillar or beating your healer. Want to stun someone ? Go melee lawl. Operatives get the same ccs, do more consistant damage, kill healers more effectively, techdispell, assist heal the ball carrier, aren't gimped vs defense mechanics, will do more damage in wz. They can stealth for passes. They can vanish if they see a switch on them. They can los and heal themselves. They can heal on the run if specced for heals. They too can orbital strike for area denials too and frag stuff. And you actually SEE some people complaining about operatives utility in wz, and they are still 10 times better than snipers for nearly everything. Facts. If you get the squishiest class in the game, you should get the most utility with ccs or the most damage of the acs in pvp. And we have nothing. Melee stun. Others ranged are better for offense, for defense, they don't have bugs or ****** INCONSISTENT MECHANICS which were not betatested, they can either force or tech dispell, they can offheal a ballcarrier if needed. A sorc can sprint/pull/bubble with no efforts and no cast times. A sorc can stun from range, a sorc does not need to spend talents to snare someone. A sorc will do more consistent monotarget damage and a ****ton more of aoe damage. Snipers would be needed if they killed stuff faster, but they don't.
  13. Thank god lethality is a very strong pvp spec. If you're annoyed with cover and shield/defense mechanics ruining our MM skills, go for it. I like cover, the delay is not horrible like some will way. Plus, sorcs get a huge delay on their bump animation., meaning you'll get bumped at the same time. But the absurd amount of parries i always get, + the annoying shields THAT ONLY YOU AND YOU ALONE with no reason to as a ranged class must go through are absurd. When you sos with 100 dmg per tick or get 5+ chained deflections...yeah...

Sagaboy If you're a skilled played you feel too limited in your gp possibilities playing a commando, having a sniper must feel refreshing Plus at lvl50 you can spec leth/eng, wich is borderline op, does not mainly require cover and makes los not a problem. Can be as bursty if not more than MM (downside being dispells and target switching). For the others, los is an issue only if you spec MM AND try to do solokills out of the open. Should not happen.

  16. If you play well you always interrupt on cd if there's a cast nearby even if the target is not the one you're dpsing, so yep the +5m is huge. Nothing wrong with our pvp bonuses.
  17. Most operatives will think you're free hks. If they make the mistake to break your stun to finish you of you, and 99% of them will do, flash them. Stay in melee : pop relic & stim > entrench > explo probe > orbital raep > ambush > ft. Everything its at the same time and if you crit they're so dead or they'll still die before you, plus their next hits will be diminished by balistic dampers. Combo can work too after a legshot if they've already used their evasion. The wonders of specing MM sometimes Leth speced i prefer to open with flash after breaking their stun, your stun will be more useful mid fight considering you'll dot. If you need distance don't dot your legshot. If he "dispells" your root then you can dot. Plus you can clear the snares/roots. Basically i break their stun, cc them, re-cc them directly if they broke my 1st. Kite, pop rakata medpac or pvp consumable then burst, works wonders if they didn't engage you while you were already low hp. But the fight can be really tricky if you're dot speced and if your opponent plays smartly with dispells, meaning you'll need to buy time with leghots (because his toxin scan is on cd) and cover pulse once his resolve bar vanishes. But let's face the reality, there's so few operatives using their dispells wisely it's a non-issue. Operatives don't win legit 1v1s against me, they wait till i've already someone beating on me to open up. In this case there's nothing you can really do because you'll take too much damage if not assisted. If you think one really hates you and will likely open on you, pop entrench and cast orbital on yourself, even if you're just dpsing someone else and don't isolate yourself too much from the pack. edited.

  19. He didn't miss out anything. Nobody want to see 10s heals with slowmos and 8mns of pulling/sprinting. The worse is you actually think it is a GOOD vid, but seeing your legacy it doesn't surprise me.
  20. This. And we have the same issues on sniper/gs forums. Our class sux no utility blah. Major l2p issues. Still funny considering ops are piss easy to play. lol. Some acs have way too much utility compared to others, nothing new here, hopefully bw will fix that once rated play is available.
  21. The 4 piece pvp bonus is underated and i will keep it, +5m on the interrupt is very usefull. 40M on takedown is very cool too, always gets people of gard. The thing i miss is better remods with a bit of theorycrafting & one piece of rakata gear + rakata offset.
  22. You kite only if you can los, you don't kite a 35m ranged class mister genius. MM snipers won't stay in losable positions and won't follow you. It's not their jobs. The most you'll achieve is corrosive dart them before they back up while they instant sniped you + ft (if they have good position and camera awereness) and if you follow them to put more they will burst you down. Welcome back to reality neo.

  24. And why would you focus a MM sniper on giradatta the hut ? They never get the ball. You can easily bump them and you should have healers nearby. The right people my ***. If you rolled sniper to dot and los people in huttballs you should've just rolled a sorc. Just saying. Something crossed my mind. Maybe you don't have the skills needed to play mm or mm hybrids ? Which is why you bash the spec ? Considering the spec is still very strong 1v1 and all.
