  1. Pretty convincing. Resorting to generic personal attacks is the clearest indicator that you've lost an argument/having nothing intelligent with which to refute. And it's spelled sense (which I fixed for you).
  2. Your whole long winded rant is substantiated at the end by: "But if its not or doesn't play like one which they suggest it should be based on the directors vision of what SWTOR is. Why are we having, or will be having to pay a subscription for a single player / Co Op game when its not marketed as one." ... i.e., why am I paying for an MMO when it doesn't feel like an MMO? i.e. I have beef with their pricing model. I'm glad I scrolled to the bottom and caught this, because this makes it easy for me to refute your arguments without going point by point into your extremely redundant, presumptious, and topically misinformed "article". Fact of the matter is most of us are paying to play SW:TOR, and could care less how it fits into your feeble attempt at defining genres and meta-genres. Somewhere, a team of financial experts/consultants, who are most likely in no way affiliated with Bioware or EA, recommended that a month by month subscription was the best way to price model this product. If this personally offends you, I say with all kindness, bugger off. There's also this: and don't take it personally, because I don't know you or your financial situation, and I'm sorry if you're short on cash, but for many, like myself, the money is simply a non-issue. 60$ + 15$/month is a drop in the bucket compared to REAL costs (mortgages, car payments, insurance). We pay because we enjoy playing SW:TOR, we don't sit there asking ourselves: "Is this an MMO? It isn't according to me. I need to espouse with a 2000 word article on the forums."
  3. Not that I support the direction they took with server forums, but you seem a little too wound up over something really trivial...
  4. Rofl. Seriously tho, a very petty thing to get upset about.
  5. Unless you work on this design team, you don't understand any better than I or anyone else here why the ability delay issue wasn't noticed/addressed/resolved pre-release. Maybe it was a lesser priority to other ACTUAL gamebreaking issues. Maybe during Beta, the way you communicated the problem to Bioware wasn't as clear or constructive as the feedback/vids that have been posted since release. Maybe they have only recently been able to allocate energy/manpower to resolving this issue, which, is clearly not an easy one to address. I can understand player frustration, but you may be taking things a little too personally when you accuse Bioware of "ignoring" you. Like you said, not everything is black and white.
  6. I will agree the game misses the mark in terms of MMORPG innovation and is mediocre at best... HOWEVER The fact that it's Star Wars IP and the novelty of a sci-fi MMO will continue to attract consumers. Those of us here with a chip on our shoulder from all the MMO "expertise" we've garnered over the years really have no clue what that consumer base looks like or how huge it is. There are people within my network of friends/acquaintances who would never think about touching WoW that play this game purely because of hype/word of mouth. I don't see this game dying.
  7. I learned you have to have a negative title to draw attention... but this thread is thinly disguised love propaganda for SWTOR itself. ^_^
  8. http://penny-arcade.com/comic ...but they love playing SWTOR! http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2012/01/16 You heard it here first.
  9. Did you even click the link and look at that fat drop? That is not the cyclical fluctuations in market prices you normally see. Do you even know anything about finance/investments?
  10. Exactly, so by your sentiment, why would it be that big of a deal to rollback the valor gains? Look at the last 80+ pages of people who are cancelling their subs. If your whole argument here is that "other games wasted less of my time", then by all rationality we can implement a rollback, and everyone's happy. Take note, Gabe, GoldSquadGirl supports a rollback, and she's not unsubbing either way.
  11. You're missing a key point here, farming lowbies was accessible for BOTH factions. This Ilum exploit has been largely Empire ONLY. That tips the scales, hence why all the unsubs from Republic players.
  12. WEeeelll, despite your misplaced gratitude to Bioware, you have to admit the sheer amount of people dissatisfied and unsubbing is justified. When a rational person commits time and energy to achieve something, only to have another achieve that same result (or greater) for a fraction of the effort (by no fault of said rational person), they have a right to respond in anger/frustration/disappointment. Just because YOU haven't experienced this while YOU are leveling, doesn't give you the right to pass judgement on others.
  13. They won't roll back the servers because the projected costs and problems associated with a rollback far outweigh the benefits of appeasing those of us here who may or may not unsub because of it. Their solution is simply to "encourage" us not to fight on Ilum... which will never work simply because human nature compels us to exploit advantages when they are there to be exploited. Game's broken and has lost a lot of appeal for me. Will be unsubbing as of today, despite how much I enjoyed and wanted to continue enjoying this game.
  14. A) At this stage of the game (first major patch, month into release), we shouldn't have to avoid an entire zone because of issues with poor dev foresight. B) While we "settle down" and wait for it to get "looked at", a massive exodus of players is occurring, understandably so too. I was a diehard Biodefender last week, but even this is too much for me to blindly accept. I don't mind the money I've paid for the game, I just want to play and enjoy this game. As of right now, I have no desire to play given the ramifications of these problems with Ilum.
  15. a) it's spelled "hypocrite" b) 50s farming lowbies was accessible to everyone, not just Empire only as is the case here c) lowbies had a chance to fight back instead of being spawncamped d) the rate of valor gain from "farming lowbies" is many times lower than ilum at its current post-1.1 state please think before you post
  16. Every couple of pages I see a post from someone who has unsubbed because of patch 1.1 AND because of how the dev/community management team has handled the situation... and that's just a vocal few out of many who have unsubbed and simply chose not to let the world know on these forums. I really really loved this game, and I'm so sad to see it hemorrhaging players like this... really wanted this game to succeed and having a thriving community of millions of players for years to come. Bioware has not shown any sense of urgency, their proxies to the playerbase are silent. In my head, I'm picturing the powers that be at Bioware, locked away in a small conference room, talking about how best to save face in this situation instead of taking action and rectifying this harbinger of a patch ASAP.
  17. Don't roll back valor and you get the same result. Complete catch-22 for bioware atm.
  18. Just logged on to my server, Nadd's Sarcophagus, and indeed there's 40-50 sith camping spawn on Ilum. Guild chat is nothing but talk about unsubbing. Such a sad day for this game :[
  19. On top of the fixes, I for one would like to know that somewhere, someone or some persons will be held accountable for letting this patch go live at its current state. 1.1 has caused a lot of backlash from the community, and I feel like the community needs something other than just a fix from BW to restore their good faith.
  20. Surprised Xugos hasn't popped up in here with a smug "i told you so".
  21. Any Imp with a brain knows that if this issue isn't fixed, the game loses 90% of it's republic players, and then it's huttball 24/7/365.
  22. I disagree, makes no sense for Bioware to "prefer" one faction over another. They're just incompetent and let a broken open world pvp system go live.
  23. Really embarassing for me as someone who loves the game and defended it against all the naysayers these last few weeks. I spent sooo long grinding up to lvl 57 valor and now this, if post patch valor isn't rolled back, I'm done with this game.
