  1. Exactly. These people want me to play lvl 50 PVP? Why? To compete against these clowns? What a joke of a game.
  2. Hi, I'm lvl 50 and I need BM gear to make me feel special. In fact, I suck so much that I NEED BM gear BADLY to kill ANYONE. See? I can play this game too.
  3. You want a challenge? Roll a new alt and hit the warzones at lvl 11. You have enough skills to deal damage and kill lvl 40+ players. I've done it and it feels awesome. The 40+ do have an advantage due to more tools but, I have enough tools to deal enough damage to kill them. The only thing I fear is the lvl 49's quitting before the end of a warzone and buying pvp weapons, removing the expertise mod and popping it in thier gear. At that point the 10-49 PVP would probably become retarded just like the lvl 50 PVP.

    Remove PvE gear

Sure, as long as the NPC's don't increase in power we should be fine. Good story archs, choices and dynamic enviroments does sound like more work for developers though. I don't know if they like working. What do you think?
  5. Instead of rewards being given to win, rewards are being given to play. Whats wrong with playing?
  6. I've been playing Quake, Quake 2 CTF, Quake 3 CTF and Counter Strike from 1996 on a 28.8k dial-up modem all the way through 2004 on a 10mb cable modem. Then World of Warcraft was launched and everything changed. Guild Wars 2 will launch and everything will change... again...
  7. Thats nonsense. Back in vanilla WoW, before honor, before Alterac Valley, before Warsong Gultch there was Tarren Mill. We PVP'd there all day. Entire guilds clashing and playing tug of war in the open fields. Small groups flanking from the east and west. PVP in its purest form completely destroyed by the developers themselves.
  8. I'm probably being trolled but, I'll bite. The real hero is the person sitting inbetween the chair and the keyboard. If you believe that the pixelated character you are playing is the hero then I fear that there may be something sinister at work here...or derranged.
  9. Not if the stats are normalized. Using a mathematical formula you can make ANY PVE gear of any tier deal Y damage to player X. Tier 1 player with 100 strength attacks player X with 1,500 health for 100 dmg. Tier 100 player with 10,000 strength attacks player X with 150,000 health for 10,000 dmg. Tier 100 player with 10,000 strength attacks player X with 1,500 health for 100 dmg. No matter the gear, player X dies in 15 hits.
  10. You're not the only one buddy. My entire guild and many people in other guilds I know are DYING for this game to come out. Realm vs Realm and non-gear based PVP. Oh how I rejoice the thought...
  11. I don't need a carot to play PVP. I love PVP. I just despise development studios making me run on a hamster wheel chasing gear. That's not what PVP is. If you need a carrot on a stick to get you to play a video game, you need to go see a doctor.
  12. World Events... Dynamic environments that change based on player interaction. For example, if a group of imperials attack a neutral NPC city and make it look like the republic initiated the attack, that city will declar war against the republics and become hostile to them. Daily quest hubs change based on whats happening in the world and the republics either mend relations through dipomatic means or prove that the imperials were behind the attack. Every decision that either side makes will impact the world. Think of a light/dark side bar for the entire planet instead of just the player. World PVP... Tug of War. Imperial and Republic NPC's fight eachother over territory. Only player activity will tip the scale of battle to victory. If population imbalances exists, provide a stacking ENDURANCE/DAMAGE buff and a full resolve bar to the under-populated side.
  13. Which is in fact related to the cost of the project "investment" and expected revenue returns. WoW has a metric to follow. SWTOR just copy/pasted almost everything over. I think players want something new and innovative. The biggest challenge is convincing investors to expose thier investments to risk. This will be challenging to do when investors will demand metrics and statistics before loaning money for a project. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I think these development studios are going to have a very hard time keeping subscribers subscribed if they continue to copy/paste what previous developers have done.
  14. This is NOT good advice at all. Winning objectives belongs in rated PVP. Highly competitive enviroments where the rules are very strict and all stats are normalized so that advantages between players are eliminated. If you want to design a game for fun, where people enjoy thier time playing, you reward players for playing, not winning. You'd think developers would of figured this out by now, apparently not.
  15. That would kill whatever remains of lvl 50 very swiftly. If people lose a couple of games in a row and have nothing to show for it, they will stop playing permanently. Why? Because its a gear grind. If you can't win, you don't get gear, meanwhile your opponents do. It creates a cascading effect. Like a Black Hole. The system consumes itself into oblivion.
  16. I find it sad that game designers in the MMO market don't think outside the box and actually innovate anymore. There's a serious lack of creativity and innovation. I'm thinking this has something to do with the initial cost of the project. MMO's are generally very expensive to make and if you slap a subscription fee on it, it better be worth it. I forsee MMO's being free to play in the near future. I sense that Blizzard and other shops are expecting Guild Wars 2 shake up the MMO market really hard.
  17. The more you punish players in the game the less likely they are to continue playing.
  18. Progression was never needed. The skinner box works in the same way a casino works. If the subject is rewarded at random intervals, he is more likely to continue the same behavior. In this case "playing the game". All subscription based game models use the skinner box in some form or another. Guild War 2 doesn't have a subscription fee. It costs 0$ per month. They will be making money selling vanity items that have no stats. Mounts, player housing, asthetic gear, expansion packs ect...
  19. I know right? Don't make it better. Just let it die already.
  20. If you think 1 million credits is a lot... My repair bill assuming all gear is red is 50,000. On hard mode progression nights my repair bills are over 200,000. If I wasn't biochem I don't even want to think how much it would cost.
  21. I like this advice. Keep it coming folks. Sooner or later the amount of people playing pvp at lvl 50 will be 0. My guild use to have 20+ active lvl 50's pvp'ing. Now? ZERO.
  22. Get a grip people. I have a rakata mainhand in my bags collecting dust just as you do. So what. Like I need it anyway. You want the cool looking color crystal? Take it out and put in another weapon so you can show everyone else how cool you look. They'll fix it eventually, keep your pants on. Have you seen the FPS and lag issues? Ability delays and that monumental PVP disaster we have going on right now? You want to complain about some item that gives you +8 in "I'm awesome" stat? Christ...
  23. If you sincerely believe that losing in PVP is not fun then it's not a game to you anymore; its business. In the business world you have rewards for "working". If PVP is all about "working" to get gear then I understand why losing is not fun for you. Because you don't get any rewards for losing. You've spent time, you've worked, without reward. Remove the reward. See what happens.
  24. I personally believe that it'll only get worse over time than get better unless the gear gap in PVP is closed somehow. If the current situation continues to persist, new players coming to PVP in SWTOR will play a few games and never return. This will destroy the lvl 50 PVP community. Currently, the 10-49 PVP community is growing. Queues are instant and there is no gear grind. None. Quick solutions -Make expertise a base stat based on player level instead of stat on gear. -PVP gear has same stats as PVE gear. -Gear bags for each item slot. Example: Head Gear bag, Chest Gear bag... ect...
