  1. "Why didn't we just make this a single-player game?" I think it'd work well as a single-player game personally. I've never done a FP, and only use BG's to leach XP if I'm bored of questing. I never intend to do a FP or OP - when I'm 50 I'm done with it. Just enjoyed the story along the way.
  2. I actually play BF and SCII on PC (don't have an XBox or PS3). Both of those require actual skill and strategy. But you just carry on running about randomly in Hutball pressing 1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3 & kidding yourself that you're a great player. LOL!!!
  3. I've yet to see a "stand out" player in SWTOR's PVP. All I've ever seen are groups of random idiots all dog-piling on other players as they spam every CC they have. MMO pvp is a complete joke - there's no skill involved at all. All these "PVP'ers" are kidding themselves. The vast majority probably haven't improved on iota since they started playing - they just plodded along picking up better gear. Go play proper PVP in an FPS or RTS. That's what they're designed for, and they do it 1,000,000 times better than a slow, laggy MMO.
  4. I think the reason is that they can't compete in a real pvp game. MMO's are like the kiddies-pool of pvp - not much skill required, mostly random thrashing about. Of course, COD doesn't require much in the way of brains to play; BF is far more strategic, and a deeper game. Personally I prefer SCII vs randomly running about spamming 1 or 2 abilities.
  5. Can I still AFK in BGs in 1.2 without whiners kicking me out? I like getting XP while I'm watching TV.
  6. Reported for trolling. Actually, from the Minimum system specs: "Windows Vista and Windows 7" - The info is right there if you know where to look - i.e. on the box that you're about to buy (do people still actually buy PC games in boxes? How quaint.) Wndows XP is a 10 year old, discontinued OS that's no longer even supported by Microsoft unless you pay for ongoing support separately. It's ludicrous that anyone developing a game in the last 3 years would bother to support it in any way. If it works, well it's just plain luck. So why do you keep moaning then? I suggest you sell your 3 ancient computers, get some more money and buy something built in the last 5 years as an upgrade :-) No, it's "the minimum" at which the game will actually run. It's not "recommended" to run it on a system that slow, and running it on something even slower is just ridiculous. If you can't afford a couple of hundred quid for a basic PC to run this game then you probably don't have enough to pay the monthly sub. Go get a job. I think you're doing quite enough of that on your own. You're either deliberately trolling, or just plain stupid. Hard to tell which. My system (just to dick swing ;-) ): Dual GTX580 graphic cards in SLI Dual 27" 2560x1440 monitors 24GB DDR3 2100 RAM in tripple-channel mode 320GB SSD RAID (3, 540GB/s OCZ drives in RAID0 for maximum speed) for OS and games, + 9.5TB RAID data storage on network server CL Titanium HD soundcard with optical out to 1000 watt 7.1 surround system Q8300 Core 2 Quad @ 3.8ghz water cooled Sabretooth motherboard KillerNIC gaming network accelerator 850watt OCZ PSU UPS that can run the machine and monitors for 15 minutes during a power outage G19 keyboard, Razor Imperator mouse Loading times, practically non-existant. No crashes. Game never slows down, and it sounds awesome with the hardware accelerated sound positioning, mixing and effects. Have used this system to run 6 copies of WoW at the same time when I used to multi-box across 3 monitors so SWTOR is hardly taxing it ;-)
  7. What are you, a Bioware employee wannabe? If you seriously think the PVP in SWTOR is anything like as well balanced and varied as WoW you need mental help. That game has been tuning its PVP for almost 10 years - it has far more BG's, Arena, open world PVP, working diminishing returns, sensible CC. SWTOR is just a ****ed-up mess. Abilities can be used instantly in WoW, where-as the backward SWTOR engine adds a GCD to everything, slowing down combat and removing skill from the equation. The laughable "resolve" system means that stunlocking to death is standard in WZ's. Complete joke. Stop being a fanboy/deluded. (from someone who no longer plays WoW, but did play RBGs and Arena into the 2k bracket for most seasons.)
  8. 0/16 - but I just AFK anyway, so doesn't really bother me ;-)
  9. It's because there's a point at which reducing the graphical detail no longer affects performance enough to make it a worthwhile option. If you're using an ancient PC, then network traffic, game logic, sound mixing etc will all be taxing the CPU to the point that it'll be unusably slow no matter what's actually being displayed. The "minimum specs" are there for a reason. If you're stupid enough to buy a game knowing your PC doesn't meet those specs, THEN you're also stupid enough to gripe about it here, you deserve all the derision you get.
  10. I doubt very much SWTOR will ever have arenas: The PVP system in this game is too simple/random MMO's are generally really really bad for PVP combat Even Blizzard are on record as saying Arena was a mistake Causes balance and gear issues Creates 10 times as many QQ threads about X combo being overpowered If you want proper player vs player, play a game that's good at it: An FPS like COD or BF, or an RTS like SCII or whatever. They actually reward skill and not just imbeciles who can play 20 hours a day and get all the best gear to faceroll people.
  11. Well SWTOR has certainly failed. I played WoW from BC till I quit the end of last year, and the arena and BGs were a lot more interesting and skill based than the crap in SWTOR. No working DR system, CDs on every skill, sluggish controls, is just inexcusable.
  12. I call BS on this. If you're an "MMO vet" you'll know the forums are the LAST place you should look for reviews of a game. You think the WoW forums are any better? Guessing this is your first MMO... I'll add that I also think this game is absolute **** really. The PVP is a complete joke. Quests buggy as hell, boring and repetative. It's about where WoW was back in vanilla which is pathetic for a game launched so long afterwards. That's my opinion - I don't give a toss if you agree or not.
  13. Ok, that's what I wrote here too - I just AFK in HB. It's 50/50 whether I'm on your team or the opponents, so why do you care? I contribute well (I believe) in the other WZ's, as there's a point to them and some strategy involved. HB is just a zergfest, and I find it boring. I'd rather watch a video or make a coffee... or watch paint dry ;-) I believe I made my argument. HB is dull, and extremely biased in favour of ranged classes due to the design of the levels. I have no interest in playing it at all any longer, and just leach the XP. I don't care who knows this - I'll have hit 50, and be finished with the game soon anyway and onto something else. As I say, I consider SWTOR a single player game with an MMO attached to it, rather badly. BW are great at making single player games - they should stick with that.
  14. You have to remember that most forum posters will post anything to get attention. The idiots who just say "l2p" probably also hate it, but are bored in school and want to start an argument. There used to be a dungeon in WoW called Occulus that everyone I know hated with a passion - groups would just abandon as soon as it came up in the dungeon finder. In fact Blizzard had to add extra rewards to keep players in there. Even so, if you'd only gone by the forum threads you would think that 99% of the players loved it. Really, they didn't. It was crap. Blizzard themselves said it was a big mistake, and they wouldn't be doing it again.
  15. Stopped reading here. WoW currently has 10 times as many players (and that's going by EA's figures, which some say have been... well, fabricated). It has a new expansion coming up that's likely to raise that to 11-12 times as many in the next couple of months. Hardly "dead". I no longer play WoW, but it's a lot more polished than SWTOR, with a lot more to do - I just got bored of it after clearing all the raids I wanted to do, and burning out on the pvp/arena. The PVP in WoW is definitely more balanced, and more solid and faster. The fact it has a working DR system, and not the broken resolve ********, plus almost every class having far too many stuns, knockbacks, pulls, knockdowns, roots, slows, snares etc here is also a plus. SWTOR is trading on the franchise. I'm playing it almost single-player - when I hit 50 that'll be the end of the game for me. Not going back to WoW, but D3 looks great, and I play a lot of SCII for a proper PVP fix (not just a random, mindless zergfest we have here). I had to write this, as the OP is just delusional. Going by the title of this thread though - yes, HB is a terrible design - it's pretty much free kills for ranged classes as they can stand up top picking people off most of the time. I just AFK as soon as it pops, till the end of the game now and watch a movie on my other screen ;-) I play an SA, and it wasn't too bad in HB when I used to play it, but HB is so terrible and boring that I just don't bother now. Just leach the free XP.
  16. It's pretty obvious resolve is totally useless. The whole pvp system is a joke really. 2 people can easily stunlock 1 to death. In some cases, 1 player pretty much can. PVP is no fun at all - I just AFK for the free cash and XP when I can't be bothered to quest.
  17. I *********** hate Huttball - I have to waste time requeuing every time that piece of **** comes up, with is 99% of the time. Give us the option to queue for the BGs we actually want to play. I don't care if I have to wait longer, I just don't want to ever see HB again.
  18. I *********** hate Huttball - I have to waste time requeuing every time that piece of **** comes up, with is 99% of the time. Give us the option to queue for the BGs we actually want to play. I don't care if I have to wait longer, I just don't want to ever see HB again.
  19. Boo Hoo. It's obvious sorcerers were overpowered. That's why there are so many of them in BGs. Same in WoW, same in every MMO. If a class is OP, everyone rushes to play it. Now the same people will fine the new OP class and play that. Who cares?
  20. Meh, PVP in MMO's is a joke anyway - nobody should take it seriously. If you want to "PVP", play a game where it's enjoyable and requires some skill: COD, BF, LoL, or an RTS like SCII - those are designed for PVP, and are extremely good at rewarding skillful play - not just random button mashing with the "flavour of the month" class. MMO's have always had terrible PVP - mostly due to class differences being impossible to balance, along with slow responses, cooldowns and other hinderances. SWTOR is so bad it's virtually unplayable. I only go into BGs to get free XP - never bother actually "playing". I'd rather watch a video or something and tap the jump button every minute or so. When I see people actually getting angry I just laugh - it's stupid! (And no, resolve doesn't work - it's the most ridiculous system I've ever seen anyone attempt to implement in PVP. Especially in this game, where every class has about 500 different stuns/slows/roots/knockbacks etc. I'm sure it'll eventually get replaced by a more sensible alternative like DR if anyone's still bothered).
  21. Not really, I think it's players expressing their disappointment at a game a lot of people have been eagerly waiting for for a long time now. People are entitled to their opinions, especially when they PAY to use this forum. Do you expect people to just meekly tip toe away if they feel they haven't received the product they expected? Do you think Bioware corporation/EA Games are fragile little cherubs who should be shielded from criticism? If a company doesn't get honest feedback from people and their reasons for leaving, then they won't improve. It actually makes you sound like a whiner by complaining about people saying anything negative. The OP didn't request any responses, so why do you feel compelled to post? Trying to reassure yourself that your money is well spent? Trying to convince yourself that people are only leaving out of spite? This is a GAME - its purpose is to entertain. If people are not being entertained they'll move on to find something else to occupy their leisure time. It's nothing personal. Don't feel personally offended - just enjoy the game if you want to, and don't expect everyone else to think the same way you do, or to like the same things you do - that's a childish view of the world. I'll add that I hardly saw any players as I levelled on a "heavily" populated server. It was actually a shock at times when I realised that something near me wasn't an NPC or MOB. From level 1-30 I'd guess I saw a total of 20 other people outside of the imperial fleet hub.
  22. Although I've unsubbed, I hope you're right! I enjoyed the PVE as far as I went, but the bugs and lack of any sort of customer service drove me away. I will be back if things improve - in the mean time I'll be playing other games (not going back to WoW though) - there's lots of good titles about at the moment. It's just a game after all ;-) Good luck with your gaming!
  23. Of course I didn't, since it won't happen unless the problems with the game are fixed. I've already said I'll be checking back every so often, and if the game's obvious problems are fixed I'll be happy to resub. It's not a question of money (I've only just cancelled my 3 WoW accounts and haven't played that for 6 months), it's the principle. The game has been released in an unfinished state (not that an MMO is ever finished, but the parts that are in place should be working better.) I only reached level 30, by the way - first MMO I've played where I didn't get to max level on at least one toon.
