  1. The only thing you lose is kolto pack. That is pretty much it on the healing side. And your DPS gets up there. Since the only real metric we have is PvP, you can easily get 200k+ damage and 250k+ healing in the same match. While that might sound underwhelming when some people are doing 600k damage or 600k healing, but when you put it all together, it still makes you valuable. The "elitist" raids who do not see that, that is their problem. I dont have to deal with em.
  2. I did a DirtyBones spec last night. I am a little on the fence about it. I feel I did more DPS overall since the dots were ticking away while I was waiting on cooldowns (from normal scoundrel melee stuff). The draw backs are obvious. I cannot heal while emergency stealthing, Backblast costs me 10 energy as opposed to 0 (soon to be 5 with 1.2) and Pungency does not heal me. With all that, my energy is sucked up like a Cherry Limeaid from Sonic on a hot summer day. I am still going with it, but I may go back to ScrapBones.
  3. I have no idea if I posted this already, but my Smuggler's name is Korso. You cannot imagine how much hate and reports I got on this name at launch, on a RP server no less.
  4. Holy thread necro! Nothing about the Smuggler class resembles "Han Solo" except the ship. Han Solo had as his companions, A Wookie- Check. A smuggler- Check. A Jedi Knight- wait, what? Really? A princess- holy crap, how? Not one, but two droids- Ok, I give up...
  5. I am trying a hybrid spec. That of sawbones/dirty fighting. I did Scapbones, but I really wanted to try DirtyBones out. FYI those names are now copyrighted, and I get 1 Republic credit for each use
  6. Why cant they keep the giggle and make for the player to hear only , much like how the companions work.
  7. Dude, Vanguards have 2 gap closers. One by class default and the second if you spec for it (Harpoon and Storm). And they do have buffs like Shield other and the Fort buff, and the fact that they are tanky and can hold their agro most times.
  8. I just chalk it up to the Developers just not likings Scoundrels/Operatives since they pushed 1.1.1 after a week of testing. Of course they changed how you can use stims in the same patch, which dropped scoundrel DPS a bit... But hey, it is what it is.
  9. Here is how you decide.... Do you want to be mobile on the battlefield? If yes, Scoundrel. Do you want to be flexible with your team make up? If yes, Scoundrel. Do you want to be stealth anytime you want? If yes, Scoundrel. Those are some advantages of being a scoundrel. I cannot speak much on Gunslinger as my experience is highly limited.
  10. Why are you worrying about channeled heals? Slow Release Medpack and Emergency Medpack should be the main skills you rock. Emergency Medpack you should be able to spam regularly if you are Slow Release Medpacking your team (more chances for it to proc a UH). In any case, 2 second cast time for your main heal that does 4k+ is not that long compared to the Sage. Crit and Power... that is what you want. At least that is what I want.
  11. I have a build similar to yours Wohast. It annoys the living crap out of everyone who fights me. Granted I do not have any Battlemaster gear (well now I have the implants and earpiece) when I was fighting other 50s in warzones. One match of huttball I was fighting a commando who I eventually beat, but the rest of the fights were stalemates (either my team or his team jumped in). I asked him on a scale of 1 to 10 how annoying the fight was. He said "I give you a 7, at least you are not a sage". I have gone up against multiple foes and lived. However when I get 2 or more marauder/assassins/operatives on me at the same time, the burst dps is far more than I can handle. I did steal a technique from you though. Orbital strike a single target.. I have no idea why I did not use this before. Ranged classes I will get only one tick. Melee... they just stay right in the fire taking 2k a tick. When I get my Tech set put together, then that will be a total of 4 ticks of 2k damage. Which will be nice. One fight another smuggler flash naded a group of sith, and we both did our orbital strikes... as soon as they hit, I flashed them, so I forced them to take another tick of damage. People tend to get nervous when they drop 4k-9k of damage in a few seconds.
  12. This is all correct. Although the cooldown for triage is not that much. It is reasonable to use it 3+ times in a fight. Especially when fighting a firebug.
  13. I have to find the link, but the devs have stated that every class can perform their tasks in healing and dps for every raid or flashpoint on any difficulty. So nothing is truly broken or needs fixing anyways.
  14. I looked at the patchnotes and what my scoundrel has now. And compared the two. I have no interest in the test server, nor with my scoundrel as each time they make a change, they make it rashly. Past history of their patch notes on test server shows they do not make changes to what is on the PTS before pushing it on LIVE. Slowing down attacks and increasing their energy cost and decreasing energy gain makes for something that does not seem fun or viable. I will wait for 1.2 and give it an honest try, but at this point , I am categorizing 1.2 as SWG CU. Yiou can have your own opinions, these are my observations.
  15. I am not sure what Bioware is thinking. Quite honestly, the changes make the scoundrel weaker and forcing them into more of a hybrid/healer build. Halving the energy cost for back blast instead of negating it will seriously neuter the amount of time we can spend in active combat. The pungency "increases" are barely that, as the original bonuses are removed. There is more...much much more, but I just do not understand what is going through their heads. i wish one of the lead devs could live a month in our shoes. I am tired of armchair quarterbacks thinking they know what is going on, when they obviously have trouble seeing. Another note about this patch. All of the massive "re-balancing" and changing of all the classes and how their combat systems work all at once is reckless. They did this with the multiple changes with the scoundrel in 1.1.1. The only game I could think of with doing this kind of a massive change is SWG. And we all know what happened to that game. Please bioware, get your heads out of each other's bunghole and actually play this game, play it without your "freebies" or enclosed environments, play on the live servers and be honest about the changes that are needed and not keep favorites or holding grudges.
  16. No problem. If you need more info, just ask.
  17. Yes, I have a Bounty Hunter, I also had the BH as my main in beta. Merc and PT. The one video I showed, old boy had spammed Tracer 14 times in a row. You CAN spam it, a lot. I know the mechanics are broke, I have said that numerous times. You have to do it multiple times to get a decent debuff each target. It's messed up and wrong. I get it, I know it. To say otherwise is just cheating yourself. Now you say it generates a lot of heat, did you spec partway up Arsenal (6 points I think) to get the reduces heat by 9? Plus there are other skills you can get that will randomly drop your heat. I am not telling you how to play or questioning your ability to play. This is how the system is, and I hope they can adjust the mechanics as it just does not make it fun to play. I am not on the NES where I need to push 2 buttons to play.
  18. It should be 41-49, not 40-50. When you get Flechette Round, you are golden against others in the pre-50 bracket. You won't get anywhere close to those numbers or ability until you get most of your champion gear and the rest Centurion. Battlemaster things are supposed to look brighter, but I haven't gotten there yet myself. Only 57.
  19. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=343684 Enjoy
  20. There is a 4th option. PvP Warzone Commendations will let you purchase armor/equipment pieces at level 20 and level 40. Same goes with PvP (orange) weapons from level 14 all the way to 47? or so.
  21. I think healing mixes it up a bit... that part where you did 14 Tracer Missiles in melee against the Guardian was hilarious to me
  22. Forget Mando armor, I want Darth Tormin's armor!
  23. Orange Armor is odd. I think I made a post on it a few months ago. In a nutshell, depending on the orange item if it is Light Medium or Heavy armor, you will get different armor values depending on the armor rating. Not real math here, but an example. Take an Armor Rating 10 item. Light Armor - 30 Armor Medium Armor - 50 Armor Heavy Armor- 100 Armor So just be aware when you start messing with your armor and your companion's armor with these armor mods, they won't be the same stats for armor unless they share the same armor type, light, medium heavy.
