  1. Managed to get through chapter 8 by avoiding and running, thx for the tip. Now I am doing the Iokath Superweapon story, supposed to beat 3 Champion Droids with a walker. Problem is, their first attack takes out 80% of my health. So this mission isn`t finishable as well and a fix is "being tracked for early next week", likely another week or so of a game breaking bug happening if we are lucky. Musco, for the vague chance that you even still care enough to read this: This kind of service is a joke and exactly the reason why my entire guild packed their bags and went to World of Warcraft. Just a few reasons without even touching on the game content: 1) People there work on the weekends as well, knowing it is the time when many many people are playing the most and bugs can ruin that. You aren`t given some vague statement on friday and then left hanging. 2) After a big patch, bugs are expected. No one minds. But you know what happens after a big patch in World of Warcraft? DAILY hotfixes. Daily. They don`t just drop a patch and then have a week off. They FIX their game. 3) Patch times are as ridiculous as ever. Prime time for everyone in the EU. Basically an entire day the game is offline for the working population here. You know when they patch in WoW? During the night and very early mornings, when you come back from work to unwind the game is up to play (and usually has already had it`s first hotfix) 4) The streaming launcher is STILL bugged. It was already not working when I played 2 years ago, it STILL isn`t. You have to search the nets to find the solution to somehow turn the streaming mode of and have the game download normally. You can`t be serious with this thing. You basically alienated the entire raiding community by stopping to produce decent group content and instead make a single player story game, which is by itself already a step that is hard to believe for a game that once wanted to be a "WoW Killer", but now we see you cannot even get your single player content working (and apparently this stuff was even tested and reported by people). I would really like to hear a statement adressing these things, but I won`t hold my breath. I have no idea what you are doing with the sub and cartel money, but it surely does not go into providing a decent service for your customers.
  2. So this is beginning to be actually quite hilarious. I am only visiting These Forums nowadays to find out how much lower you guys at Austin can get and I am rarely disappointed! Making your customers wait for month to fix a game breaking bug is unfathomable from a service perspective, but it fits the plan you are following this last year. Basically my guild has stopped playing and most of the senior players have decided to move to a game that actually cares about Raiders, about Content and about it's Community. You obviously stopped caring some time ago, it just got blatantly obvious in the first of your great Lifestreams where Eric and that other guy declared that Group Content, was really something they wanted to do, so they would talk about it. Talk about it. TALK. ABOUT. IT. More then a year after the last crappy Operations they have to TALK IF a new Operations fits into their great sheme. They haven't even considered that an MMORPG might need Group Content to work. How dense can you be? Or well, no, since I actually do not think they are stupid, I assume that they just know that they will shut the game down at the end of the year, so actually putting developing time and money into making new raids is pointless. Obviously they can't say that straight, since then everyone will unsub, but it is quite obvious that they are at this point in time just trying to milk as much money from the game as they can and stringing along People with cheap Bonus items but when the IP runs out after KoTFE is done, the game will end one way or another. For my part, after 4 years of supporting the people who now blatantly consider me and all other raiders a mere nuisance in their plan, I have finally clicked the unsub button and I highly doubt I will return. I can watch all the 20 minute chapters on YouTube, even the HK chapter that I am supposed to sub for halve a year for. If there are still raiders left in the game (can't be many now), I think this display shows you what you can expect from the people that you give money to.
  3. That is exactly what I am taking away from this stream. Nothing. They do not even bother to adress the issue of group content anymore, meaning there will be none, at the very least not until the end of KoTFE and by then it will be too late to safe the myth that this game is still an MMO. I kept my sub up this month to have a look at how good the single chapters would be. The result was 20 minutes of cutscenes and inbetween that I had to just run around and click things while some pityfully easy enemies tried to shoot me (I could have literally stood there for 20 minutes and have them shoot me without dropping in health). The story was neither good, nor long enough to justify a subscription or this complete negligence of group content. I know you don't care to read this anymore Eric and devs, you decided your way and that way includes pushing your veteran players aside in favour of attracting new players. Apparently your metrics show that it is more profitable to cater to people who sub for a few month and then move on again then actually putting time into making new content for the people who loyaly paid a sub for 4 years. Makes sense, I guess, new people do not notice all the bugs you haven't fixed for years, new people haven't played all your revamped Ops a few hundred times, new people do not complain content is too easy. So yes, you will likely make your life a lot easier by loosing all those pesky veterans that actually point out your faults. It's really annoying when a customer criticises you, isn't it? Better get rid of them. I hope you read your metrics right then. If not, well, you have already succesfully destroyed the guilds and community that carried your game the last years, so I suppose it will suck to be you then. Have fun!
  4. Just got kicked from the Progenitor, and now it always speaks of connection problems, when I try to reconnect to it. Tested to connect to TRE and it works with no problem, so something must be going on with the server.
  5. I don't often write in these forums, because they are usually toxic and hostile. I will try not to be, even though my mood at this moment would be just right for this. I am an officer of one of the oldest PvE/RP guilds in the game, me and my fellow officers and lots of guildies have worked hard to make this guild what it is, because we love your game, Eric, we love the way it plays we love the story. KoTFE has been very well received in the guild, people enjoy the story, find it engaging and lots of old seemingly lost members have turned up just because of it. So yes, I can wholeheartedly say that KoTFE is a great expansion. But, here is the thing. This is still an MMO. An MMO with many high quality guilds, that have all done a lot to stay alive. Just like them we try to make the best out of the situation at the moment. We rerun old Operations, we gear up people just so we can have some fun together, and it works. For the moment. It will not work for much longer. A guild CAN NOT be kept alive by a single player story, it simply does not work this way, A guild needs things it can do together. And for that we need your help, devs. We need content, we need Operations. If you do not give us any, I don't know how long we can keep people from going to other games that offer more content, that reward guild activity more. I do not know how else to put it: This is an MMO, if you want to keep it that way, then give us content for bigger groups. However, should what can be read into your post be true. Should you really think that just expanding on the story with no meaningful chance for group activity is the way to go for your game, then that is fine. It is your decision. BUT be fair enough to tell us this. If this game should no longer be considered an MMO, then I find you, Eric and all the devs, owe it to all those that have supported this game for years and have put a lot of work into creating the community, have a right to know, so we can make an informed decision if we want to continue supporting it. No this is not a threat of unsubbing. If I wanted to unsub I would find hundreds of reasons. This is a hopeful warning. An intervention of sorts. Eric and devs, please do not let yourself be blinded by the "story" aspect, no one is denying that it is awesome, but it is just not enough to keep this game alive as an MMO. Please understand that even the most loyal supporters will fall off if you overdo it. With this in mind, I ask you, Eric, who is our voice to the dev team and very rarely appreciated for that he has to suffer through in these forums, to bring these concerns to the attention of the team. And please return with an honest answer to just one clear and simple question: Will there be new Operations of the length and quality of KP, EV, EC, TFB, S&V at any point in the next year? Yes or No? I do not need details, I don't think anyone does. So you don't need to work on a formal announcement. Just answer this one question. Everyone knows you can answer it. No company just lives into the day and does have no plans beyond the next few month. Just a clear Yes or No. Either give us something to look forward to, or make it clear that we should no longer hold our breath. Either give us hope, or end this cruel game of making us wait. I think the players who have been supporting you for years earned at least this much. Sincerely, Rai
  6. Hello again Meatbags and those that still want to be one! It is my burden and joy to announce that Nestinar is still looking for new people to join our ranks. The Balhara has freshly been redecorated with actual plant life for a more healthy working atmosphere (well... unless you get close to Hade's oriconian farn... it can get a tad overzealous in its nutrition intake, pets should not run free...) and we have restarted regular RP sessions. Our sheduled Operations are running perfectly and we are close to beating the new HMs! Interested now? Search for Nestinar in your Who-window and whisper the guy that carries "Rai" in his name (which will be me or any of my numerous alts), write an in-game mail to "Raiko", or follow the link in my signature to apply directly on our website! I am looking forward to meeting you! Raiko
  7. Happy New Year from Nestinar! A lot of friendly and very skilled players have already contacted and joined us since my last post, so I am just peaking in to encourage the rest: We are still recruiting! Search for Nestinar in your Who-window and whisper the guy that carries "Rai" in his name (which will be me or any of my numerous alts), write an in-game mail to "Raiko", or follow the link in my signature to apply directly on our website! I am looking forward to meeting you! Raiko
  8. Hello everyone, my name is Raiko (despite what that nasty Forum tag is trying to tell you). I am the newly appointed Recruitment Officer for Nestinar and am just checking in to say that our great family is still recruiting. Now of course I need to get to the sales pitch, enjoy the show: Nestinar, founded on the 11.11.2011 is one of the oldest and most active Imperial guilds. We did acquire a flagship, christened Balhara, and are looking to expand and open all quarters of it. The population consists of over 70 friendly and active members, which means a full 10% Experience and Reputatoin Bonus for everyone. Usually no evening goes by with less then 20 people online. The guild is always helpful and will instruct new players and older player alike how they might improve their skills in certain aspects of the game. We have specialized Officers who can give advice on Healing, Tanking, Damage-Dealing and even Role-Playing! While we do not in any way grind conquest points until our fingers and eyes bleed, we managed to get into the upper echelons of the Top Ten on every planet we invaded just by doing normal gaming. We have a very well organized Operation-System with 3-4 Raid evenings every week. While Nightmare Modes haven't been our objective we had tons of fun clearing every HM in the game. And this is our focus in PvE: Fun! We do have an Officer for Roleplaying, who is at this moment looking to restart our RP-Section and is always happy to receive people interested in Heavy-RP! Finally we do have Darth Haderach, our beloved and worshiped chief and god. You will immediately take a liking to him, I assure you! You will! ....Okay, okay I wrote it! Happy now? Put the saber away already! After telling you about all the perks that we can offer, you surely wonder if we would want to have you with us, so here you got an easy checklist, that should help with your decision to apply: Question 1: Are you a friendly and mature person, but don't take yourself too seriously? While we are certainly not a boring bunch that can't take a joke (quite the opposite), we expect our members to hold up a certain standard in communication with eachother and people outside of the guild. Question 2: Can you put others and the guild in general above yourself? We in Nestinar want to have fun as a group of like-minded individuals and we want to try to get everyone to have as much fun as possible. However, a selfish attitude that only focusses on your own fun will not get you far with us. Every member is as important as you are, from officers to newcomers. This is also reflected in our naming policy, while we do not have any limits for how many alts you can bring to the guild, we do have standards for their naming, which apply to everyone. If you are an officer or not, an alt called "Lordjedideathstar" or "Fiatbrava" will not be invited. Question 3: Are you looking for a guild that values fun more than hardcore progression? While we do raid with a serious intent and have an amazing success-rate if we put our heads and hearts into the game, Nightmare modes have not been a guild objective in the past. Rather we have dedicated our raiding to a broader approach, where we try to let every guild member experience the joy of succeeding in Hardmodes instead of going for a Nightmaremode clear at any cost. Through this our raiding speed is probably much more relaxed then a progression guild's which does reflect our guild culture as a whole. Nevertheless we have a very dedicated Operation-leadership and a stable cadre of awesome players, who never forget to have fun while trying to come up with our own ways to beat content. We also do not enforce the use of voice-communication for raids in any way. You will be welcome to join our private TS server, but it will not be used to lead entire Operation-groups. Now if you can see yourself answering the above questions with a strong "Yes", I will be happy to receive your applications and meet you! To apply you can check our website (www.nestinar.eu) and post there or whisper me in-game. Usually if you check the Progenitor's "Who"-list and filter for "Nestinar" I am easily recognized as the guy that has "Rai" in it's name. Of course you can also send in-game mails to my main char "Raiko". Raiko
  9. Hello, just updated to 2.7., logging in on my main to test the new FPs, just to suddenly notice her gloves and belt gone. Specifically Mira's Gauntlets and Utlity Belt seem to have become invisible... this is really annoying, as I use the full set on most of my chars... Unless there is a new toggle is missed in the chat notes...
  10. First of all, I agree with the others, that the guy is very likely just spewing hot air. If the DPS behave like idiots and stand in Infernos (f.e) even a master healer will get into big trouble keeping them AND the tank up. Now as for tips. I am not yet a really experienced Healer. After miserably failing at my Operative Healer a couple of month ago (I hated the constant reapplying of KP), I usually sticked to my favourite and prime role: Tanking (mostly Vanguard, but also Shadow and Guardian), but to do something inbetween raids I started a Sage healer as well and love how it works. I feel that having done almost every fight from a tank perspective does help me with healing a lot. I am pretty confident, that I know when and where heavy damage will be coming in on the tank, what mechanics each fight has and so on. A good example might be Draxus. Since I tanked him numerous times I know that the guy hits like a truck on steroids with his attacks and the tank will need a lot of healing while he is up, I don't need to see and realize his health dropping in seconds before I start shielding and healing. So trying out a different perspective, especially the tank's (who is most bound to the healer), might help. Another thing I do consider a rather nice training are WZs, which must sound strange. I am also not a PvPer by a long shot, but as a healer in WZs you have to deal with a lot of damage coming in on a 8-person team usually (not counting Arenas), while also being under the stress of completing objectives and getting attacked yourself. In such an enviroment keeping people alive is a nice simulation for raids and while you won't be able to keep people up for too long, you can work on healing burst damage as long as possible.
  11. Maybe the other people just don't want to PvP in those PvE Areas (Oricon and the Rak tunnels) and would just like to finish their quests. If you want constant PvP I wonder why you are on a PvE server. Most People choose those specifically because they do not care about PvP beyond WZs (if at all) and just enjoy the PvE content except for the odd few PvPers who choose them specifically because they have an easier time in PvP and can prey on unsuspecting PvErs for some weird satisfaction (not that I am suggesting you are one of those). I understand the frustration with the Gree, to a point. I realize that going into that area was accepting that PvP was gonna happen. The QQ you are talkign about, usually was because some guilds (calling themselves PvP-RP ones, which means they shout: "For the Empire!! LOL!" after stomping you) used to gang up on solo-players with up to 12 people at a time. Now, imagine you are on the receiving end of that. Would you go in there again? Would you have a good laugh after this happening 10 times? Would you actually still raise your PvP flag in any shared event area, unless you have to? Would you not hate the guys that force you into PvP just so they can gang up on you again and again? In my opinion at least, this has very little to do with real PvP and much more with griefing. Which, according to some replies I got here already, seems to be what some people want to do. But I (foolishly) assume that the main body of the PVPers actually want fair fights. So, to me (but as PvEer my word means nothing I know, I missed the sign at the entrance permitting only PvPers to speak) it looks like a lot of the problems discribed in this thread are self-made by the PvP community. 1) If you want to mainly go for PvP go to a PvP-Server. Do not expect people on a PvE-Server to queue up for Ranked or take kindly to your selfish wishes of open-world PvP during events. If they want to PvP they will let you know by themselves. This should also help with server-populations and queue times. You could even make a poll and announce that one of the PvP Servers is going to be THE PvP-server from now on, where all the competetive people come. No need for server-merges or cross-server queues. 2) If you crave open-world pvp so much, what would actually help is organizing it. Put up a date, meet in an area that is not used for questing a lot and bash each others skulls in as much as you like. If people do not react to such a try at organising, I would suspect, that the demand for open-world pvp is much smaller then you think. Of course the engine might put some restrictions on that, but that is something that will never change. Now, feel free to attack me once more.
  12. Okay, I admit that "whining" was not the best choice of words. Could have been more diplomatic in that line. Of course you are not even wrong, my attitude towards PvPers is surely not improving by the ganking and now flaming I got for reporting an issue. The issue I am asking an answer for is about PvP and created by PvPers, It has been frequently asked and reported about. That is why I feel a thread about Frequently Asked PvP Questions was quite the right spot to bring this to attention again. If I am wrong, the mods will tell me and I will withdraw the question, until that point I will refrain from the facepalming.
  13. Oh dear, must make you feel really powerful. Good for you, child. But yes, prime example. As long as this is the way PvPers like to present themselves, I see no reason why anyone should care about their problems.
  14. After reading this and all the whining that followed I just have one more question regarding to Open-World-PvP to ask: Is there going to be a Change to the PvP flagging system, that finally prevents you from being flagged against your will? Or are there at least steps taken against people exploiting the system as it works at the current time? I really feel it is high time for that, as the amount of gankers that force you into PvP by stealthing into AoE, or simply stand in your way when you fight anything ist steadily increasing. Likely there is even a connection with PvPers disheartend by the lack of world-pvp, so in order to get what they want they force PvE-players, who have no interest in it, into unfair fights. Now, I will not start the argument about the Gree Event again, as at least the PvP flagging there gives them a bit of justification. But lately I had this happening in the Oricon Heroic area and even in the normal questing area on Hoth. And I am quite annoyed by it. On Oricon specifically a Group of at least 3-4 Stealthers (from a certain guild who is by now well known for ganking on my server) have waited until me and a friend engaged one of the Commanders and started getting into our rotations (Vanguard Tank on my part, where Pulse Cannon is used frequently) then stepped into my cone aoe and before I could react, got flagged and the next second had 2-3 Sabers and a Knife in my back, while the Commander was happy to assist the gankers with his constant stuns. Of course I reported them, for which I got "lol good luck with that" from them. Insult to injury, as I feel they were likely right. With the amount of ganking going on there can not be a lot happening to discourage such behaviour. This is on an PvE/RP server of course, just to be clear. And unlike with the Gree Event they can not make the excuse of "The quest is flagged PvP, so you are meant to be stomped", it is a PvE area on a PvE server. There is no justification there. Now as much as I feel sorry for the actual competive PvPers who do not engage in such lousy moves, I can't help but feel happy every time a PvPer leaves the game, as it always feels like a potential ganker has left and now annoys people in another game. Since I know some good PvPers who actually "hunt" for such gankers, I know this is not a fair assessment, but still... The solution to this problem is actually quite simple (or Looks that way for me): Just disable the option to attack/damage flagged players, unless you conciously flagged yourself by clicking on your portrait and selecting the option or of course enter a PvP area (such as the Gree one). That would solve the whole issue and PvEer would finally not have to put up with this anymore, while PvPers would get more interesting fights as only people who are actually prepared would flag themselves. The other much more time consuming option of course is reprimanding every ganker for what they do, which halve of them will not care about until it leads to a ban. Would appreciate an answer/comment from the Devs, Eric
  15. I can only concur with my fellow Tanks and the Healers. The majority of DPS is just sooo bad that I can understand every Tank and Healer if s/he does not want to pug anymore. DPS will: - attack ahead of the tank, thus screwing up Tank's aggro and taking lots of damage, which the Healer has to deal with, straining their energy pool. And no, not all are doing it because they don't know better. Some will say "Sorry" and stop after being told, but other (usually Sents / Maras) will keep going, claiming it is because they can and that otherwise the FP will take ages, the hostile replies you get are just priceless. - use Taunt if they have the option, completely ruining the tanks threat control, which in a fight where the Tank will need his Taunt for certain mechanic (f.e. the guy with the two dogs in Mando Raiders) might even wipe the group. - queue up as tank or healer, just because they do not like to wait for a pop, but do not want to tank or heal either, so the whole group has to work harder because Mister DPS feels treated unfairly by the Groupfinder. As an example, a run of Maelstrom Prison last night: I Tanked and we had a capable Healer, but the DPS? Geezus! We needed 4 Replacement-Queueings, because they either just left the group without a word or because they were dumb and unresponsive. My favourite was a Balance Shadow that used Combat Technique and figured himself the groups Tank, taunting whenever it was off cooldown, using the 30m range of Force in Balance to attack before me, then scattering mobs with Force Wave, so I could run around and collect them again. After he taunted the guy with the Laser Eyes and stood still right in front of him to be two-shotted, I asked him what he was doing there? Got no reply. Of course. And he just kept doing it, when the whole group was following me around the room with the Inquisitors and Terentatek, who had to pull them? ... He also started ninjaing stuff then and since I usually don't kick for stupidity I finally had a real reason. Or another one, Athiss HM. Again me Tanking (Assassin), a Guildie as Healer, one capable DPS and one Assassin that was just so bad in all respects it was gross. He obviously used the tank tree for whatever reason and of course dropping bosses became a lot harder since he was doing no damage at all (he was also undergeared badly). We had to skip the Bonus boss, would never have worked. The best was, when he died from the ground aoe of the final boss, went to the med center to run back and managed to pull 2 (!!!) of the Sith Champions to us. Luckily by then the boss was dead and we could kill them still. So, we revived him, which was a mistake. The boss had dropped a Tank-Assassin chest, which was really lovely for me. Yeah... the DPS felt it should belong to him for his invaluable work and ninjaed it. When I told him it was really a ****** behaviour his reply was: "I don't care, FP is over.", I tried to tell him again, and got basically: "Get a life!" Just in much more rude words, then he ignored me. So please, dear DPS, tell me: If that is the kind of behaviour I can expect from the majority of you, why in the Emperor's name should I pug if I don't have to? And also, if this is how the majority of you behaves if you find a group through the group finder, you can not honestly expect not to get onto every tanks and healers ignore list in a heartbeat. It is no wonder that you sit in queue for hours if no one wants to play with you. And rightfully so. It has come so far that I already sigh deeply when I see that I got a Sent / Mara in my team because 8 out of 10 times they will jump ahead of you. I have no idea why it is as it is. But it is an empirical fact that out of 10 DPS I get through the GF I should kick 7, I usually don't, but I should. This however does not account for all the DPS-Healers I encountered. That behaviour I do not tolerate and will kick the moment I notice it. Now, a few gifts for Tanks signing up would be nice, but I fear this will only encourage more DPS to feel treated unfairly and queue as Tanks and ruin more FPs then they do already. Conclusion: The problem is not with the Groupfinder, the problem is that PUGs are a torment to play, and the majority of DPS do all they can to make it so, getting themselves on the Tanks and Healers ignore lists in the process. Meaning that unless that Tank and Healer ALWAYS queue together, that DPS has now TWO - THREE groups he won't be invited to. And with every run in which he shows that behaviour it will be more and more. Now adding this to the high number of DPS in the game and you know why you have to wait so long for a pop. It is a pretty simple mechanic. - A wall of text from a very frustrated Tank
  16. I am playing the game almost straight since launch now and I think I saw it all, but last nights Maelstrom was strange even for my experience. Storymode, so not a big challenge, I tanked (37 Shadow) and got a pop rather fast. Healer and 1 DPS were ready and there. The other DPS however either D/Ced or dropped dead in front of his screen, as he remained on the fleet and did not answer to any questions. After 2 min of waiting for anything to happen, we kicked and got a new one. Here is where it started. The DPS we got I knew from a Taral V run I did before, knew he was capable and decent so it was great, we could finally start messing up the prison. Then suddenly, after the first group of mobs the other DPS left without a word, just *puff*. Soo again we had to get a replacement. We did get one of course, one that joined the group only to leave it 2 minutes later before he had even arrived at our position. Next re-queue. Now we got a second Shadow, nice enough. Used Force in Balance and such, so obviously Balance specced, but using Combat Technique (tank) and suddenly started to tank stuff, using FiB to grab aggro before I could get close to mobs, taunting and all that. I tried to tell him that he was doing something wrong, but got no reply. Of course. We got to the Boss with the laser eyes, the one you need to hide from if you don't want to die. Not our Balance-Tank, nooo. He not only ran straight into the boss, thus again taking initial aggro and making my job harder, nooo, he also taunted the boss in the Laser Eyes phase and then stood right in front of him... luckily he died and I could kill the boss with the rest of the group. Balance-Tank got revived and I asked him (again pretty friendly) why he was tanking while obviously in DPS spec (not to mention that he queued as DPS obviously and got a pop as DPS also obviously) I got no reply of course, he either did not speak english or he simply did not care that he was messing up the run. Anyway... he obviously did not understand me and just continued taunting and attacking ahead of me and then he also must have forgotten what gear he needs, because he needed for a Cunning headset. Well, that was it then, I initiated the vote. We got another new DPS after that and finally managed to finish (inbetween I used HK to stand in) this bloody run... but seriously... what is wrong with the DPS players in this game? I know some are good (I have a lot of those in my guild), but generally... I mean we needed 4 replacements.... My head hurt after that FP... If I was not leveling that Shadow I would never pug again I think...
  17. Ah yes, had a fun run yesterday. Double-Exp, so I was running FPs with a guildie to level our respective chars (Tank-Assassin (me), Pyro-PT (her)), and we got into Colicoid Wargames, likely one of the easiest FPs in the game if you know the cannon part. Our healer (Merc) didn't, so I explained and we got through that easily. Then we entered the area with the 4 shielding droids. I asked for CC on one of them, and since the Merc was the only one who could cc droids it was his job. Well... guess what did not happen? But that was not the real problem. While fighting and running from one droid to the next (no Wither at lvl 42 yet), I noticed my health dropping rapidly. And the incomming heals were... well... barely existant. Mostly the merc was using his auto-attack on me, healing for a great number of 80-90 per hit and the scan came so seldom and slow it was a joke. Needles to say that there were no other heals. No Kolto Shell, nothing. So after wiping the second time, I asked our lovely healer if he really was heal specced. "Yeah, I am", he said. And I had a lot of trouble to believe that, with the abyssal healing he did, so I decided to test him. I said: "Ok, cool, then put a Kolto Shell on me please" Answer: "I did not choose Kolto Shell" Riiiiiight So not only did he obviously queue as Healer when he was DPS specced, he also lied to my face about it and came up with a bottom right ridiculous and insulting explanation. So me and my guildmate said bye bye to this doomed group. Of course the DPS-calling-himself-Healer then started to blame the tank (me) for his uselessness. I am not sure how long he went on, I ignored him after a few F-words and insults. But it was a really interesting experience. To be clear. If a Healer is still new in the game, I expect no miracles. A new player has to learn healing, that is no problem. But what I will not tolerate is a DPS that queues as Healer, because he is not willing to wait in the queue and then when called on that bluff lies and accuses someone else for their cheating of the GF I get that people don't wanna wait for long in the queue, but that is simply the fate of a DPS, live with it or respec for real. I had that so many times by now, that I almost auto-quit a group where the "Healer" is in DPS-stance (if it is a Merc/Operative). Usually I ask then, but sometimes I am just too fed up with this trend. To make it clear to the DPS that still don't get it: You stop being a viable healer after Black Talon/Esseles, you just don't have the necessary tools to keep the group alive! If you wanna shoot things, wait your turn and don't make the tanks job harder then it already is! But since by now, I know the people in this game... chances are it will happen again and again. Good to have a guild.
  18. The thing is not that people don't want to PvP. The thing is how the people the OP describes carry out PvP. I would really not mind dueling some times (when alone), or fighting 2-4 vs 2-4 (with two groups that wanna engage in a fight). That is a fair and fun match of skill (and gear... but let's not go there) with maybe one side winning, maybe the other. THAT is PvP and THAT is fun. But what I experience in the PvP zone on ilum are 2 things: 1) People repeatedly ganking underleveled and undergeared players, or players that are fighting the Quest NPC (Pylon Guardian f.e., people seem to forget there are NPCs there, because the Quest is labeld "PvP"). This kind of cowardish behaviour just ruins the fun for the others and achievs absolutely nothing but making yourself look weak and draw hate to you. As an example: Yesterday I was doing the Pylon quest. Fighting the Guardian for a few minutes already, so that he was almost down and I was significantly weakend (somewhere around 30-50% health). At this very moment an Assassin unstealhed and started backstabbing, while the Guardian was still there, and blasting me. Between the Guardian and that Sin, even my rather strong Shadow has no chance. Now I am sure, he/she/it was giggling madly about how powerful he was to take the remaining 30% of my health, but is that considered PvP? Just jumping someone that is already halve dead and busy with an big elite? For me it surely was no fun, I can tell you that. I personally find that very low and it should be reportable. (I know, I know the guy was an Aassasin, a stealher, he is supposed to stab me in the back from stealth, that is NOT the problem. The problem was him waiting till I was weakend and still busy with a big NPC) I felt a bit better when I saw him again at the central Pylon and could show him how much "fun" it is to fight me at full strength with no Pylon Guardian to help him... twice... 2) Guilds grouping up and "holding" the central Pylon, like the OP discribed. The idea of the event was to have a max of 4 vs. 4 fights (hence no Ops). But this idea is led ad absurdum by Guilds running there with 12 or more jumping solo players or smaller groups. Now of course people will tell me that I should just collect a group of myself and smear them against the wall. Right... those people must think that there is no difference between a PUG and a Premade (maybe even on TS or some other voice chat). There is no chance in hell that a group I pick up randomly will ever destroy an organized guild group. And that hopelessness has already driven most people on Ilum to rather run from the Guilds (switching instance, hoping not to find another guild) then fighting or stop doing pvp quests alltogether because they have no chance and will never have a chance. Don't know what you think, but I doubt this will encourage more World-PvP in this game. Adding to that factor of course is, that most people on my Server (RP-PvE) are only casually PvPing and neither have nor want the best PvP gear just to complete some event quests. And repeatedly eradicating those players with a huge number of PvP-veterans or a whole PvP-Guild just because you can, will completly drive them from ever touching PvP again. Is that fun for those guilds? Do they feel powerful because they can squash a recruit-geared player with 3 people in full EWH stuff without breaking a sweat? I know how I would feel doing that... but that is likely only me. Now, to repeat myself. I have nothing against PvP. Not a bit. I might not be as much into it as other players, but I enjoy myself a few WZs as well. And yes, if I go into a PvP area I can be attacked and that is fine. What I question is the way PvP is carried out by players in this game (during the event mostly). There is really no decency, and no common courtesy. Guilds should fight other guilds (maybe make out times for big epic fights, that would be awesome and I would so be on board for that) and not engage in fights that hold neither challenge for them nor fun for the other side. And players should fight with a minimum of fairness. The game is about fun and that includes you AND your opponents, they are not NPCs but people who want to enjoy the game as well. Think about it. (I know you won't (self-reflection is overrated anyway) and I will get flammed from all sides now, no worries I can live with that. I have of course not named names so I am not calling out to specific guilds or players (that would be really childish) but by now every Progenitor player on Republic side knows who I am talking about)
  19. Had the issue myself, now it worked again.
  20. Hm... really a hard question. I played all Imperial Classes and now JK and Trooper to 50 and at some point I enjoyed all of them, let me get into detail a bit: 1) Sith Warrior + Story: I am a big fan of political stories and Darth Baras is the best mind in the Empire, more would be a spoiler but the entire first act was a great combination of politics and character development, also the biggest impact of Light/Dark-choices I encountered + Playstyle: (Annihilation-Marauder) Takes time to get used to, but once you have a working rotation the combination of DoT and self-healing is just fun. The Rage system is not very forgiving though, use up to much Rage you will only hit with normal attacks for some time. + Companions: Except for the Talz, everyone of them has his own character and a lot great dialoge. Vette and Quinn are especially great = If you want to play a Sith, take a Warrior 2) Sith Inquisitor - Story: First Chapter was pretty boring, there were only some good parts, like the plot on Nar Shadaa. You mostly end up doing the same thing 4 times. Chapter 2 is not much different. 3 is a bit better, but still not halve as good as most other class stories. I expected politics here as we are supposed to be the "intelligent" Sith, the master of manipulation that Sidious was, did not see that + Playstyle: Played both an Assassin and a Sorc for some time. Both play just awesome. I liked the Sorc a bit more as the mixing of Force and Melee is not so much what I like (mostly visually). Shooting Lightning out of your fingertips is just pure fun, especiall with the Madness tree, that allows for infinite Force Lightning. - Companions: Especially in the area of romances your companions fail, badly. As female you may choose from a pirate with a bad attitude (which is so over the top that it is ridiculous) or a pirate with a bad attitude, as male you get Ahsoka Tano's ancestor with the same annoying character. In the non-romance section we have a monster that would eat you, if it could, a crazy archeologist and a terribly sucking up Apprentice (who really is only interesting in the first scenes where you meet him) = Play the class for the Playstyle and you will have fun, play it for anything else and you won't 3) Bounty Hunter +/- Story: You want to play a Bounty Hunter, you will play a Bounty Hunter, your story resolves around heads with price tags. If you like that, good. A change happens after the climax of chapter 2 and I liked that a lot. The end was really enjoyable and is also very interesting to fill in some blanks when you play a Republic char. + Playstyle: (Dps-Merc): It is fun, but can get a bit dull compared to other styles. You pretty much punch the same 5-6 buttons again and again, maybe a cooldown inbetween. That is both good (as it is muuuuch easier to manage then a SW/JK which is pretty much like playing a piano) and bad (as it gets stale to only shoot rockets into faces) + Companions: Mako is great both characteristically and gameplay-wise, Gault is the good and funny version of the guy with the bad attitude, Blizz is... just Blizz, fun and cute, and then there is Skadge. I think I will never forgive Bioware for not letting me shoot the guy... for a lightsided BH taking him onboard is like complete brainwashing with hydrocloric acid. The one and only companion that I never gave any gift and have at - 50 Affection or so.... = If you like a simple and straightforward playstyle and can live with being a bounty hunter for most of the story, its surely fun. 4) Imperial Agent ++ Story: Next to the SW and the JK, this is the best story in the game. Can't say much more about it without spoilers but you really get a lot of suprises, also having Jo Wyatt as voice actor made me never touch a male agent, too great to hear her talk. + Playstyle: Did both a healing Operative and DoT-Sniper, loved the visuals on the Heal-skills, very powerful and very nicely thought out. The DoT Sniper has some problems, f.e. that I could never decide if I should use cover or not (problem with a shared tree I guess) and that the feeling of really being a sniper did not come up. Probably with the Marksman tree that would have been different. + Companions: Many people dislike Kaliyo, I did not. She is pretty much Jack from ME2 (and I mean more then that they share voice actors and a fondness for tatoos and bald heads). I found her very well fitting for the agent, leaving her to attract attention while I quietly snuck in the enemies back (not just in combat), also her chaotic lifestyle is fun to behold. Vector was also not that bad, a bit crazy, but whatever. Actually I liked them all, they were very great to have around. = Likely the best Class to play for fun. One hears that endgame damage is lacking, but one hears a lot of things. 5) Jedi Knight ++ Story: Very diverse missions and the end of Chapter 2 just blew me away, even though I knew what was coming. Awesome. + Playstyle (Guardian-Tank): Tanking was a new thing for me, so it took me a while to learn about it. The number of skills really are a lot to manage when you come to an MMO fresh, but it builds up slowly so you can get used to it on the way to 50. It definately is fun, though very unforgiving + Companions: From the first to the last these guys are simply great. Enough said. = Definately fun and likely the class with the most impact of overall story. 6) Trooper + Story: I read many people disliking the story, I can't see why. From the start on Ord Mantell its awesome to see the developments. You also gat a very strong connection to the powers that be (the senate) and General Garza is likely the best (and strictest) COs in galactic history. Also in Chapter 3 I encountered possibly the greatest and hardest decision in the whole game. Awesome. Also you notice very soon that Bioware did a lot of military plots in ME1-3 and implemented some of that, not to mention Jenniffer Hale, what else could one want? + Playstyle: (Shield Specialist Vanguard): After tasting Tanking on the JK, I got addicted and did it here too. Only reached 50 a few days ago, but I like what I see. Ranged tanking is very nice but you also see a big difference with the Guardian tanking. At the moment I prefer the Vanguard. +/- Companions: Well, there are some I really liked, like Elara and Forex, the others are a good medium. I did like the idea of actually being a strike team though, that was fun. = Definately better then what people say about it, very funny and with Jennifer Hale as voice actor a slight ME-feeling was there. Phew... that got a long post, hope it is informative.
  21. I would like to point out that no of the special events were advertised a long time ahead, they came rather suprisingly. So it might be to early to give up hope. There still maybe an ingame event around christmas or new year.
  22. Okay to give you an answer that might actually help. 1) It is hardly possible to Tank and DPS at the same time. Dps Assassins do not use the threat-control skills (like taunt), because they do not have the survivability and because (at least if you use the Deception tree) it is profitable if the enemy is NOT looking your way. As a Tank (Darkness tree), you increase your armor and survivability (f.e. through Dark Charge) at the cost of some damage. You still do hit hard, but your focus is to stay alive and keep the enemies from looking at your friends. At the first few levels the difference is hardly noticeable, but as you advance you will see that they are completely different playstyles of which you should pick the one you like. The trees are simply structured. Darkness is the Tanking tree, Deception and Madness are for DPS, whereas Deception is a bit more stealthy and backstabby, while Madness uses Damage over Time to bring enemies down. 2) The skills. That is a not easily explained as there are many important skills. The best way is to look at your selected tree and check out which Skills benefit from it. As an example I can tell you that for a Deception Assassin "Shock" is a very important heavy hitter and "Thrash" will be used up until ~ 40 where you get "Voltaic Slash" which will replace it.
  23. I quite agree, though most likely it is not necessarily the character I found so very interesting, but the story leading to her recruiting. All together I think the SW got the best companions of all classes and next to the agent the best story. On other classes I have sometimes really no interest in my companions or even outright hate them, especially Skadge on my BH is a thorn in my side. I would never have taken him onto my ship. From the first meeting (where he pretty much tortures a young woman for info...) all I wanted to do is shoot him. Still I had to take him on my ship. As for a dark/light-meter on companions I don't necessarily need that. I like that my companions have their own ideas and like my deeds or not. It makes them characters instead of just a game mechanic. Though I wouldn't mind a thing like the "hardening" in DA:O. For those who did not play it, it meant that there were convos in which you could help one of your companions over her doubts about herself or show another that the only one he could depend on was himself. Thus giving them much more determination and taking away some of their moral concerns. All things concerned I think I would have liked to have less companions in number (one for each role, heal, tank, dps or two of each gender, with all of them open to s/s-relationships like in DA2) and therefore a bigger and better thought out storyline for each of them. More convos = more immersion. Well, of course it is not yet to late to add some high-level missions and more convos for each companion.^^ So long
  24. Every time I take a look at these forums I wonder how Bioware is still putting up with it. I know I wouldn't. I mean it really doesn't seem to matter what they do, some guy will always whine about it. If they do mainteance and have downtime, they get bashed, if they skip mainteance, because it isn't necessary, another guy whines. It's a miracle that the devs may still breath without some guy whining about that as well (Can see the thread already: "Oxigen, Bioware? Are you kidding me...?"). If you think GW2 will be the holy grail of gaming, then by all means go and play it and don't bother everyone else with your useless and aggressive demands. For me, no downtime equals more playtime equals more fun with this great game. So long
  25. Well I can tell you that Juggernaut PvP is not easy and needs lots of practise. In Huttball you can be a very good ballcarrier and the two "jump"-abilities get you forward quite fast. Of course without a good team you still are helpless. In the other Warzones you suffer a bit from lower damage output (that is, if you do go Immortal for Tanking), but your Taunts and Guard get you a nice sum of extra medals. However, in PvE the Jugg is awesome fun. Your first companion is a) cute and funny, b) a buttkicking dps, who you can use for the whole game if you wish. If you don't care that a fight takes longer, you can also take your healer (2. companion, obtained on the first planet after Dromund Kaas) and pretty much become immortal. Additionally your master is most likely the greatest Sith in the whole game (Most others I found rather meh). A guy who really THINKS about things, who can be a sarcastic and funny guy, who even reacts to snarky comments appropiately (f.e. the inquisitor master largely does not get when you try to make fun of him/her). And then there is the story. Not spoiling here, but it really is a great plot with lots of sith politics (which the inquisitor is lacking completely...), especially if you like to go lightside (which is an absolute possibility for the SW, whereas the inquisitor feels odd with it in comparison) Another class you might wanna look at is a Lethality Sniper, not much cover needed and who does not like to poison people? Also it is most likely the second best story in the game imho.
