  1. Your greatest defense is good mobility for a range class. So best way to survive is to utilize it every way you can. Stay close to object to use for line of sight, stay close to max range and sprint away to heal when things get hairy. Though honestly, if you want to be truly be effective as a sage you need to find your self a pocket tank to guard you. Sages are by far the squishiest classes out there and you will be targeted more then anyone else on the shear fact that people are stats crazy and you got lower armor then anyone else.
  2. Sage is a good class for PvP as long as people don't attack you. You're by far the squishiest class in PvP as a Sage. Your only defense is mobility and kiting. So if you want to really shine be ready to befriend a good tank.
  3. Yet what I see in those posts is nothing but hyperbole and lack of evidence. The Sith Inquisitor being a popular base class for Imperials doesn't automatically make the class overpowered. But more that people love lightning and double bladed lightsabers. I mean Phantom Menace is terrible, yet people are running to see it again in 3D.
  4. The problem is world pvp do not work on a base level in this game. The engine is totally broken and they've built the game around trying to do what they can keep it working. I mean why do you think that Republic and Imperials are pretty much separated in every zone, and zones can only being able to handle 48 players. Given that this is Star Wars you'd expect war, but instead you have everyone hidden away at their respective fleet. Ilum which suppose to be this great pvp area is a total lagfest the moment you have more then 30 people fighting at once. I absolutely love world PvP, but it was dead on arrival in this game and the amount of work required to get half decent world pvp is never going to happen.
  5. How about some of us just want OPTIONS. You know different ways of playing. I'd love for proper world PvP and conquest based PvP, but seeing as Bioware can't code to save their life we're stuck with a broken engine so that is out of the question. So given the state of the game a small scale deathmatch pvp is feasible without several years of work on the engine. I and from what I've read on this forum for people who want arenas don't want it to be the end all be all way to gear. Just another path with maybe some different cosmetics/titles compared to rated warzones. Here's a good example of what it would be like. What I find funny is when that video was posted on this forum people loved it. Yet when you mention the word arena people flip out.
  6. Seeing as I was a Sage after being almost full Champ gear and still not decided upon a legacy name I finally went with Pantsless. Seemed rather fitting. A good friend of mine who is currently playing a Shadow got the legacy name Pantless so if they ever decide to add 2v2 arena bracket it will be quite funny.
  7. Really awesome vid. I'd love to see arena in the games. Wouldn't even have to be rated to begin with, but be there as an alternative to warzones. If there were rated arenas keeping it 4v4 would be really interesting in this game with the addition of tanks. It just adds a whole new element to this style of PvP.
  8. I'd love for them to remove unity. Last useful ability you get as a base consuler is at 22. Tumult is pretty much useless outside of finishing off low hp mobs and unity you get at 50 and by then it is absolutely useless. I can't even think of a place where you'd find world pvp against other 50s with active companions. I'd love to actually get something from the shared tree past level 22 that I could use in PvP.
  9. The Gunslinger/Snipers in this thread realize that pretty much all force/tech attacks are mitigated by armor right? They either do kinetic or energy which are reduced by armor. Its really only dots that do internal and elemental damage which bypasses armor. With the exception of Force in Balance which is a 15 sec CD, Turbulence which is a 9 sec CD and I think there was some Vanguard direct damage attack that did elemental. A Dirty Fighting specced Gunslinger bypasses armor just as much as a balanced specced Sage.
  10. Best PvP I ever had in World of Warcraft was 3+ hours of fighting over Kazzak against 2 other Alliance guilds. It included stuff like 40 people ressing at the same time to AoE bomb them to death right before they pulled. It ended up with using having a absolute laugh over it on IRC with the guilds we fought later on because it was just a really fun night of great world pvp that you can not possible try and replicate in something like Ilum. If you get a warning for "griefing" for actively engaging in world pvp then really Bioware just should disable the ability to attack players of the opposite faction and relaunch the game as a single player only game with multiplayer warzones and dungeon crawling. The game already feels completely dead because you hardly see players from the opposite faction outside of warzones and Ilum. Might as well just take it one step further.
  11. Well if the Sorc whine is anything to go by Sorc can single handedly take down 40 players at once. The bubble alone requires a raid to be broken. The amount of hyperbole and down right lies going on this forum is just insane. Seems like any kind of damage that kills them automatically comes from the very overt Force Lighting. Same with the bubble being so difficult to break even though they maybe didn't see the fact that the target was guarded and they them self were taunted for even more reduced damage. Kinda wish the moderators would just lock the whine posts and straight up tell the OP here is X Y and Z on what is just wrong in the post.
  12. Compared to both Commando/Merc healers or Scoundrel/Operative you're a lot squisher. you got mobility as a Sorc, but thats really it in terms of survivability. You don't get any defensive cooldowns or special heals like emergency medpac to help you survive under pressure. I mean a Sage/Sorc is great for keeping multiple people alive over a long time, but any premade in PvP with half a brain will always focus the Sage/Sorc first. It will be interesting to see how things turn out once rated PvP is in the game. Seems like Bioware has realized that the PvE in this game is absolutely laughable and there are a lot more people doing PvP compared to PvE. So hopefully they will balance with that in mind instead of just catering to the PvE crowd.
  13. Pretty much every hard hitting ability in the game is mitigated by armor since its almost always weapon, kinetic or energy damage. With the exception of a few abilities, internal and elemental damage which bypasses armor is damage of time. Snipers/Gunslingers have some of the best burst in the game. Problem is how terrible the cover mechanic is. Its annoying for the Sniper and its annoying for the people fighting them as well because you have a single range class that you can not jump too, interrupt ect. Its just bad game design and I'm sure Snipers will be one of the first classes to get a major revamp. Though to be honest most classes could do with a revamp to make things a bit more interesting and actually fix all the broken spec trees in the game.
  14. If you leave a Sniper/Gunslinger alone they can absolutely destroy you in 5 seconds flat. What they need isn't really to be buffed, but to be fixed. The cover mechanic is pretty broken and just clunky and not fun to use, which is the main reason why I decided not to make Gunslinger my main as I had originally planned before Swtor came out.
  15. After running 2/21/18(http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600MZbsMMdRroZcMcRsMz.1) for a while I found kinetic collapse to be spotty at best. Its great for when a Operative opens up on you, but in most fights it just in the way. Increasing the resolve on target without actually giving you any benefit. It would be a lot better if it was a root that didn't break on damage, but again that might end up being to strong. But right now it just causes the target to be immune to CC without you having any control over it.
