  1. I got the impression reading the FAQ, you could select multiple characters but not being on one of the transfer servers, I don't know for sure. As for what happens, its called passive incentives As your 100+ characters move over and the population dies you will find more and more reason to move and less and less reason to stay and eventually move You might be left with a few fringe cases that stay until they are forced to move, but give it a month and most everyone will have moved that could I predict.
  2. I anticipate in a lot of the cases, that is exactly what they are going to do. They are phasing servers in slowly because of load (probably database load) and monitoring (make sure a server doesn't over-populate). They never said destination servers would have only one origin server, only that each origin server would have only one destination server.
  3. He was unsure if you /could/ move them piecemeal instead of "all characters on this server". Its an understandable question (one of very few in this thread) since it isn't covered explicitly by the FAQ. Luckily for him, he can transfer a single character.
  4. Yes, that is confirmed, you can move single characters. Someone posted in the earlier thread they moved one character and it took 5 mins.
  5. Worst case scenario, copy your characters over one by one, delete the placeholder and rename your moved character to the original name. Since you can transfer single characters, this would make the most sense to me.
  6. Actually the non-answer was intended to mean, stop being lazy and read the FAQ they bothered to post answering most of the questions people have... but perhaps I was too subtle.
  7. I would be surprised if it were a destination since it seems to be one of the mid-low population east coast PvE servers. But I have been wrong many many times before.
  8. That would fall under the arbitrary move stuff answered in the FAQ. If you are asking in this initial transfer, probably not since they are trying to keep people in the same category and region as the source.
  9. They have said it will take less than a week to get all the servers. The guild stuff is answered in the FAQ.
  10. They have started to categorize them by region in the sticky, maybe they will break it down more with future posts.
  11. I would be awfully surprised if it weren't many to one. Esp in the cases of some of the lowest population servers.
  12. Depends, since people know the transfers are happening today, there are probably more than would be on during the day looking to transfer, etc. The first couple of server lists are predictably slow as they watch the load and come up with some rough numbers of how many transfers/hour they can do without overloading the system. That is probably why they started with the lowest pop source servers. I predict it will pick up after a few hours of prime time.
  13. The problem is that of sustained vs peak. If you have a transfer service from day one, allowing FFA transfers doesn't affect peak database load as it is spread over time. Knowing everyone is chomping at the bit (don't believe me look at how fast this thread is filling up) means that if they opened it up, it would likely overload the databases.
  14. Why wouldn't the large number of friends and RP buddies move? Its not like they are allowing people to select destination, so there is only really one place to go. I can see that concern if it was arbitrary but if everyone is able to got only to the same place, seems odd to me.
  15. Is your server in the same region (West Cost, East Cost, etc) and the same type?
  16. To those that are upset about only doing this gradually you need to realize the amount of load something like this can put on a database. I have no doubt they will get to all the servers in the next day or so, but doing them all at start would have been irresponsible.
  17. My guess is that they will add a few more gradually before 5pm EST and then monitor the number of transfers and how the system can handle it and after a few hours of "prime time" start opening the valves a bit more. But that is just conjecture.
  18. I know I am a tad biased being on Ebon, but honestly they probably had to choose one and TEH has more sustained "Standard" time. But I think having the two RP communities together would be beneficial to all and I look forward to seeing all the new faces if that is what they are doing.
  19. Quoted for truth. I think people are ignoring the East Coast/West Coast distinctions. My guess is in most of the types will be consolidated down to one or two servers per type and region. So one RP-PVE, East Coast, one RP-PVE, West Coast, etc...
  20. They added more servers a while ago, don't pay attention to /transfer, check the sticky or under my swtor, accounts.
  21. And they are all on my lawn damn it... sorry couldn't resist the crotchity old man routine made me laugh. (as someone who has a cane that they can use to wave at the damn kids on his lawn )
  22. The selfish bit in me is glad that the ebon hawk ended up a destination server, means I don't have to fiddle with character names or legacy names :-p I also in an unrelated note feel very very sorry for the community people right now having to follow this thread... moves fast.
  23. According to server status numbers, it is the highest population of the east coast RP-PVE server. http://www.torstatus.net/ Followed closely by Lord Adraas I suspect that all the RP-PVE east coast servers will end up on Ebon Hawk
