  1. It's been a while, though I don't remember the fight being that hard. As a tank, I just made sure I kept aggro off of Elara, and did max DPS. As an armormech, I was in full purple (and I bought a purple gun as well). I don't remember dying to that traitor.
  2. According to his Twiiter profile, his position is now "Game Director."
  3. Ah, nm. I found he is now the "Lead Game Designer."
  4. Hall Hood's Twitter account says he is the "Lead Writer" on SWTOR. I thought that was Daniel Erickson's position.
  5. I would have to agree with you. I really hate the black core crystals. It just isn't Star Wars.
  6. While I understand the frustration of server maintenance occurring during a person's normal play time, and I mean this with all due respect... No, this could not wait until Tuesday. For many (myself included), Denova is the ONLY Operation that presents a real challenge. My guild has no trouble with Eternity Vault HM, or Karraga's Palace HM. If we can't take a shot at Denova, there is really nothing for the end game people to do. Sure, we can do our daily HM Flashpoint for the Black Hole comms, and do our other dailies for credits, but that's all stuff we do "before" we raid. So yes, it was worth 2 hours of downtime to fix the raid that is the only challenge for most end-game guilds.
  7. Their patches have been pretty good overall. This is an exception. For a game where patches break everything, give EverQuest a try.
  8. Thank you for confirming. Sounds likely there will be maintenance tonight or tomorrow night.
  9. Argh. Sorry, but WoW did not invent raids. People were raiding in MMOs LONG before WoW. Personally, I raided in EverQuest at least 3 years before WoW launched. Please don't say they added raids from WoW.
  10. They still want you to sub, so introducing new Operations would be a big factor in a player's decision.
  11. VO is what sets SWTOR above other games (and yes, I believe it is above other games.) No new content without VO. So let it be written; so let it be done!
  12. Agree 100%. I wanted the game to stay subscription only, but F2P can work. P2W is unacceptable though.
  13. Didn't lose 1.7 million. It reached 1.7 million, and is now "well above" 500k, but below 1 million. And WoW was an Everquest clone. I will even go so far as to say WoW looked more like EverQuest, than SWTOR looks like WoW. I think you are right about this. There are a lot of open-world PvPers out there, and they failed to deliver good open-world PvP. I can't deny this one. They started with 3 WZs, have added a 4th, and a 5th is coming out soon. The game hasn't been out that long. I wasn't playing when the servers were dead. I played at launch, and after the merges, so I can't comment too much on how bad it was. I disagree. It is a good money sink, and adds non-P2W perks. Fine by me. Depends on what the boosts are. If it is just an XP boost, That doesn't mean P2W. when I leveled up my Trooper, I was already over leveled for the content I was in. Leveling up faster doesn't grant you many benefits. It certainly doesn't make you uber. If they have special combat buffs that are "real money only", that could be a problem. I don't want to see P2W any more than you do. Haven't done ranked WZs, so I can't comment. I disagree. We have gotten content updates for free. The game has only been out 7 months. This is fine. The game isn't perfect, but I am having fun playing. This game is VERY far from biting the dust. It still has over 2x as many subs as SWG EVER had.
  14. Yeah, that really had nothing to do with my post. I don't think their game is really "broken". I can't really comment on PvP, since I don't play it much, but PvE seems to be working very well. They have been releasing new content and features, and yes, the argument can be made they should have had those features at launch. However, the state the game is in now is good IMHO.
  15. You forget the first of the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition. 1. Once you have their money, you never give it back. Edit: But seriously, this is a plan to make more money. They aren't going to give the sub money they have acquired already. That's not a sound business plan.
  16. They have already announced a level cap increase. Since F2P is arriving in November, I wouldn't be surprised if the level cap increase arrived on or before the F2P switch. So, right from the beginning, you will likely not be able to hit max level with a free account. Also, if you don't continue subbing, you are likely going to have a credit cap, lose bank/inventory slots, and won't be able to post anywhere near as much on the GTN. If you JUST want to experience the 1-50 story, then F2P is going to be a good option for you. If you want to raid when you hit 50, you will HAVE to sub.
  17. That WAS a good part of SWG. The crafting system was second to none, and I did like that I had a house that was a physical object in the game (not an instance). However, it didn't make up for the fact that there was zero endgame. SWTOR has Operations that are fun and challenging (for my guild anyway). The I would be ok with the crafting of vanity items, and some form of player housing (the ship doesn't really cut it, unless they really let you modify the inside). Even as a master Armormech, I don't know if I want the BoS gear to be player made. Looting gear in a raid feel more rewarding than purchasing it on the GTN.
  18. If you are a subscriber now, you probably won't want to unsub. There are likely going to be other restrictions placed on free accounts that haven't been made "official" yet, though BioWare has hinted at it. These restrictions include a credit cap, inventory cap, bank slot cap, etc. If you like PvP, you can only do Warzones so many times per week without a subscription. Also, anybody playing endgame will need to sub, as Operations will not be available to free players. Granted, if somebody just wanted to get through the class story (play KOTOR 3-10), it would only cost them $15 to buy the game (if they hadn't already), and they could play for free for the entirety of that. And I am sure that some players will do that. However, I feel a lot of people will not want the restrictions placed on the free players.
  19. I'm having fun in SWTOR, and I have no problem paying $15/month to play. While I would rather keep the game subscription only (higher quality players IMHO), I understand that the game has to go f2p to generate more revenue. More revenue means more content can be created. I love SWTOR, and I want whatever it takes to bring me more story. I'm waiting for Chapter 4 on my Trooper. I am working on my Agent. I have many other classes to play. When I get them all through Chapter 3, I am going to want to continue on. This requires that the game is making money. If f2p will help that happen, so be it. However, if the game ever becomes Pay to Win, forget it.
  20. My 6-month sub is almost up. Already scheduled to pay for another 6 months. I'm hoping for the best. I want as many subs as possible. I would prefer the game stay with a subscription model, so I hope the sub count makes that work for this game. More subs = more revenue = more development!
  21. I wish I knew that there would be so much hate for a game that I love. As a big fan of KOTOR, I love SWTOR. I just don't understand how people can hate this game, and the forums are full of these haters. I like the story while leveling, I like the combat, it's just a great game. The only thing I was expecting that I didn't get, was more social areas. I expected Nar Shaddaa to have a more sandbox setting. I didn't know that the only places to go on the planet would be questing areas. I figured a big social area (where people might hang out), surrounded by areas where you did your story.
  22. Something else you could have done was type "OMG, SPACEBAR!!!" in party chat. Then they wouldn't know who was actually watching the cutscene.
