  1. Yes, I am an experience player, sorry I was not more clear in my initial post. It appears to me that I am not getting the Knight class buff when I run a Knight origin and Shadow combat style character, but I did a test and I do get the buff if I run a Knight origin and a Knight combat. My fear is that I am wasting my time leveling this character, as I was solely doing it for the buff really (although replaying the story is fun I do not want to do it without the class buff benefit).
  2. I have been playing on a new server in 7.0, and as a result do not have my legacy and legendary unlocks there. I have already completed Consular, Smugglar and Bounty Hunter class stories through chapter 3. Now I want to unlock my 4th buff, which means I need to do a Warrior or Knight. My question is this. If I intend to level a Knight origin story (as I have not done it in a long time) do I also have to choose one of the Knight combat styles to unlock the class buff? I started a new Knight, and intended to level as shadow as it is my preferred combat style, however I am not getting the Knight class buff. I am almost done with chapter 1, but now I am afraid I need to restart because my reason for this new character is to simply get the class buff. Any help or clarity is appreciated. I have tried to search for this answer but cannot find one anywhere.
  3. I recently came back from a multi-year break. Welcome! For relearning my classes, I simply started playing all the story and event content. I do use a few useful online resources: Swtorista (Website and YouTube videos) Merlyn's SWTOR Guides (for current builds and eventually operations refreshers) Other than that, random web and youtube searches have been enough to get me back into the flow. With an expansion on the horizon, I have not stressed over gear or max level set bonuses. Also, I have maxed my crew skills, but only to set myself up for the next expansion. A few observations for my differences from a few years ago: Mega inflation - I used to be rich in the game and I had to grind credits upon my return just to have a comfortable base Crafting is nearly useless at high end - Too expensive and cumbersome to craft high end gear Flashpoints are run super quick with lots of short cuts - vet mode group finder taught me most of the routes Now, a few months later, I have multiple toons at 306 item rating (max level) and even have a complete set on my best character. It took time, but it has been rewarding to get back into the game.
  4. I checked all my 192 legacy gear and have equipped them. Stats do not change when equipped. This certainly looks like a bug to me. Not a huge one, but I lack early access so I am just trying to setup characters for next week. Have tank main hand weapons back, and a proper dps offhand for my sentinel, would be excellent.
  5. Additionally, main hand weapons which were tank gear have been switched to dps stats. For alts, this is generally better gear than what I had and perfect for leveling any character 55+. I made a point of making sure I had every type of gear and weapon as they announced this change before 4.0 went live, but then they messed up the stats on a few items. I would like to see the offhand saber changed to dps stats and to have the former tank weapons set back to tank weapons, because I do level characters as tanks.
  6. At level 60 186 gear put me at 1936 expertise 192 gear (old companion devoted sets) put me at 1870 expertise
  7. Actually, every MMO I have played has right handed characters. As a lefty I find it annoying, but I doubt it will ever get addressed. As a developer, I know it would take more code to provide an option, but that is not really too hard. Probably more annoying to fix all the cinematics than to update the combat code.
  8. I am fairly sure that I read that access to SoR was going out on the 27th, unless you had early access. Of course, I could be wrong on that but I thought I saw it posted somewhere on these forums. Section X is a good idea if the heroic can now be done solo. I never did grind that rep back in the day.
  9. I know I am in a similar situation with many others. Having played the game early on and returned in the last few months. I missed early access by a few days, which is not really a big deal as one week never makes or breaks a gaming experience. So, if you are lacking early access, what will you be doing this week if you play? I will choose one of the following: Finish my last class to level 60 - only 1 more to go for me Datacron hunting as I explore how level sync feels Start a new character - probably one of my early characters to 50 back in the day to replay the story and see how the new leveling system feels. How about you?
  10. Original companion stories are shut off as well (could be considered class, but thought it should be pointed out). Furthermore, these are closed on a character by character basis, so just because one character starts KotFE does not mean you can never do these again on another character.
  11. After years of playing MMOs, here is a simple rule. If you are on a PVE server and there are flagged characters of the opposite faction around you ... switch toons or zones and find something else to do. There are just too many ways to trick you into flagging yourself by accident, and with companions in this game it is even easier than most. Some people find this kind of harassment fun, but there is always something else I can do for fun and they will go away eventually.
  12. I recently came back after a few years off as well. Sharing my experience in case this helps. I happened to purchase one of the Amazon bundles, which included: subscription time cartel coins SoR Amazon pet As the bundle was not much more than the actual play time, I considered this to be a worthy investment, but of course that is a personal opinion. It does not take very long to level to 60 through SoR, which is good in this case because you can catch up very quickly (a few days is all it took playing casually). With any luck, they will give all subscribers access to all expansions on the 20th (when the 4.0 engine drops), which means you could be level 60 before the 27th with at least one character which would not put you even with other people like me that came back after the first promotion ended.
  13. Thank you! I happen to be making myself the 186s simply because I am willing to invest the time in my crafting. For my dps chars I will probably go with the passive types (such as the ones listed above) and I tend to go for the active ones for my tanks as having that extra cooldown when needed can be critical to success. Knowing to simply go with different types of relics really helps me identify which ones to make. As I have not even found a guild yet since I returned I am not even sure if I will get into a SM Operation as I keep hearing that the group finder is not working. In the past, group finder has been the way I have found guilds when I am new or returning to the game. Maybe once I have some decent enough gear I can find a group to run with. Luckily, I play on Harb, so there are a lot of guilds to choose from.
  14. This point does bring up a question for me, if you have two of the same relics, don't they share the same cooldown resulting in the situation where only one will actually work? For example, the serendipitous relic from one of the dread operations (cannot remember their names) specifically says that it shares a cooldown with similar relics. Therefore, I figured I had to make one "on equip" and one "on use" to be safe.
