  1. Hey, guess what? A simple forums search found an answer to your question! http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=548444&highlight=taunt Posts #2 & #8 in particular, post # 10 has a link to the Sith Warrior forums (an old theorycrafting site): http://mmo-mechanics.com/swtor/forums/thread-786-page-3.html Posts #26 and #29 Or... just try it out and see for yourself.
  2. ^ This. Consumers like options. If anything, it's the artificial limiting of options that is most likely to turn consumers off.
  3. I've been away for quite awhile and never had a character that got past Voss. I'm wondering: are these dailies in a PvP area on PvE servers?
  4. This post makes me think you have your scoreboard sorted in ascending order.
  5. When did 200K damage in a WZ become heaps?
  6. Thanks for posting, OP. Thanks to you and cmf for the great work discovering this new information on taunts.
  7. I never said that it did. I said that I appreciate the ease of gathering a piece of information about light or dark side alignment; the same way I appreciate the ease of gathering a piece of information about what class a player is by whether they have one saber, or two sabers, or a saber-staff, or one blaster, or two blasters, or an assault rifle, etc. It is an easy way to instantly recognize a fact that may have some bearing on my interaction with them. Maybe it doesn't have any bearing on your interaction with them, but this game is not solely about the things you think are important. For example, I would imagine that people interested in RP believe that alignment is VERY important. Perhaps some Imperial player somewhere likes to only kill light side Republic players in WZs. Is their opinion less valuable than yours?
  8. Oh, don't worry on account of me. I have no problems keeping track of things like: BTW... the correct spellings are: Soresu, and Juggernaut. Soresu should be capitalized because it is a proper noun. I particularly like how you assumed that my position on this issue means I'm not much of a thinker, and a fan-boy to boot: Finally, I appreciate the way you took my disagreeing with you so personally that you felt compelled to insult me. Look at it this way. Right now, I have to spend zero effort to gather some information that is of questionable value. If these changes happen, then I will have to spend a very tiny amount of effort to gather some information that is of questionable value. Why would I want to waste my time this way?
  9. Going to have to disagree with you on this. Making a person more or less powerful based on cosmetic changes strikes me as a bad idea. Cosmetics are just that, they should have no impact on the mechanics of game play; they should only affect the enjoyment of those players who find that sort of thing appealing.
  10. That is an idea that I really like. People who want customization can have it by putting in extra effort. On PvP servers, it might even spark a little extra open world back-and-forth, as people farming the opposite faction's resources have to enter enemy territory to do so.
  11. I'd rather spend my attention on what they are doing and how I'm going to beat them.
  12. I have to agree with you. I like being able to easily identify who is light/dark side. Sort of the way I like to be able to tell what someone's class is by they type of weapon they are carrying or wielding. The patch notes seemed unclear when compared to the announcement placed on the front page of the community site. Is it all color crystals that have had these requirements removed, or only some special (high-level) colors?
  13. You seem to have a strange definition of drastic as you only propose one new ability. I do not agree that warriors need a self heal. Juggs have the best armor and some great bubble/CDs, and Maras can spec into a self healing build if they so desire. When people don't agree with you and are not having the same "issues" you are, they are not trolls. Perhaps you should ask yourself why these others are not complaining instead of calling them names.
  14. The whiners will go start the same vicious circle in some other game?
  15. Warriors/Knight damage on the whole is fairly low compared to other classes, so having one big hitter is kind of nice for them but also ensures that they don't do too much DPS for a high-survivability class. Also, since there is a 3+ ability setup required for that critical smash, it is easily disrupted. In my experience, many people don't use their interrupts and CC when they should.
  16. Haha, good try. My main is a Jugg and I have a PT alt. Try saving your CC breaker. After you get hit with the second stun, your Resolve bar will be full and you will be stunned. THAT is when to use your breaker, and tada! Immune to CC and no longer stunned. It may be that some people have experienced legitimate bugs, but every time I see someone wastes their breaker on my first stun, I think about threads like this one.
  17. There are so many "Resolve is broken" threads that I have to wonder who actually reads the stickys. I had no idea what Resolve was when I started this game. I read one post by one player, learned how Resolve actually works, and have never had any problems with the system. I actually think the amount of CC in this game is pretty fun now that I understand it.
  18. Remember that stats are often distributed differently on different sets. On the whole there is more Endurance on the Rakata set than the BM set, iirc. Which is silly, since most of the defensive stats don't work terribly well in PvP, making Endurance much more desirable.

    Loving Swtor PvP

Huttball. First time I passed the ball. Threw it to a Assassin who sped away for a goal. Grappling ball carriers into the pit for the gank and possesion, hello speed-boost. Getting MVP votes from a PUG. You know you've played well.
  20. Look more carefully at what the OP is describing. It is not a system that automatically bans people who get X number of "cheater" votes. Getting X votes would simply flag an account for investigation by REAL people, who would be able to look over the in-game logs and even watch said person while they play to see if they are really cheating.
  21. Now that I am able to log into the game, I see that Guard does indeed give the target 5% reduced incoming damage. Serves me right for trusting Torhead's DB. However, there is no -4% damage done associated with IGC! Perhaps you are referring to the skill Combust in the Shield Tech tree that put a -4% damage modifier on a victim of your Flame Burst or Flame Sweep. Since 50% redirected damage is a different mechanic than mitigation, I will assume that it is multiplicative. So let ME re-redo the "maths" just for YOU. With the -4% damage debuff on the attacker: -39% damage taken 40% of the 15 seconds it takes for Neural Dart to come off CD -9% damage taken the other 60% of that 15 seconds 15 seconds = 10 GCD, let's assume 1000 damage dealt/GCD for ease of "maths" (perhaps you're British?) First 4 GCD attacks = 610 each = 2440 damage done Last 6 GCD attacks = 910 each = 5460 damage done Total: 7900 damage done out of 10000 possible = 79% damage taken, or 21% damage reduced with 50% redirect from Guard factored in First 4 GCD attacks = 305 each = 1220 damage done Last 6 GCD attacks = 455 each = 2730 damage done Total: 3950 damage done out of 10000 possible = 39.5% damage taken or 60.5% damage reduced 60.5% damage reduced every 15 seconds from ONE attacker. Per your example of breaking through the 6400 hit point bubble of a Guarded Sage/Sorc: 6400 / 0.395 = 16203 damage needed to burst that bubble or 20% less than you are claiming. Now, I see no reason to believe that the damage reduction and the damage redirection could possibly be additive as they are separate mechanics. However, that is something that I agree should be tested. Also to be considered is the fact that that amount of reduction is ONLY applicable to one attacker. Sonic Missile (the PT AoE taunt) is 6 out of every 45 seconds, giving it a paltry uptime of 13.33%. As long as the ST & AoE taunts do not stacks (which I am simply too tired to test tonight), every attacker after the first would decrease the percentage of damage avoided by the Guarded target after the 15 second mark. This is so ambiguous, vague, and indefinite that I have to wonder if you are deliberately trolling your own topic. Besides, if all other classes have these defensive abilities, then doesn't that, by definition, make it balanced? Hey, it's cool. You started of at 70-75%, went to 75-90%, now you're back down to 69%... maybe after a few more back-and-forth posts, you'll be in the realm of reality.
  22. The notes say "Fixed an issue," not "fixed the only issue." Reading comprehension, FTW!
  23. First, wins should count. If you don't finish your daily in the 1-2 hours you have free to play, too bad. If you don't finish your weekly in the 5-7 hours you have free to play, too bad. Penalize early leavers. Maybe increase the # of wins needed every time you leave, or force drop quest and lock it out for the day/week. Reduce the rewards for daily/weekly quests as performance should be a more lucrative way of earning gear than any quest. Play with guildies. If your guild mates are 99% in bed by the time you get on, find a different guild or a different schedule. Chat up people who you witness performing well in WZs, add them to friends list and re-que with them the next day. You are not entitled to an easy completion of WZ daily/weekly quests, that's why they call it a grind.
