  1. Reply to the OP, I gave it some thought but unsubbed.
  2. I'd have to disagree that space action is a sideshow in the movies. you already admit to the Death Star Scenes being a major component of two of the movies. Empire had the escape from the imperial blockade and the falcon going through the asteroid belt. Ep I climaxed with a space battle and young Anakin taking out the control ship and Ep III opened with a huge space battle. Space is lacking in TOR as it stands and was released. Then there are speeder chases and races which suit the current tube model far better and are also strangely lacking from the game. It's almost as if the mission statement for TOR development was "*** it, it'll do"
  3. There has been no evidence that a SSP exists. No updates and not a single leaked detail over the month as to what it might contain. I've been patient enough and f2p isn't going to encourage development of these things. Will they spend, 6 months developing a new type of game play that may retain subscribers or 3 minutes uploading the jawa model as a minipet and selling it for $5 ? Which has the highest return on profit with the lowest risk? This last announcement has been a long line of decisions that demonstrate the short term thinking of the project management. They saw the SW franchise as a cash cow ready for milking but they missed the deadline and released a substandard product to a fickle audience. Like too many others if it wasn't for the SW logo I wouldn't have even looked at this MMO. When will there be a proper Star Wars MMO? I completely missed SWG as i was busy raising a family then spent the last 3 years waiting for TOR... wish I'd got to see it now, I have a feeling I'd had liked JTL.
  4. Thought about this.. I have 173 days left on my sub but I've just cancelled because the game will be f2p. Why? Well, I don't get time to play operations or even many FPs. Possibly just 1 or 2 FPs a month. I was paying so I could play if I wanted to, I was playing this rather than other mmorpgs because I had paid for it. So with not paying I can still do what I want just without the stupid vanity items. I'll probably end up playing different games and even restating my WoW sub. End result is that bioware just lost another subscriber and probably a player eventually. If it becomes pay to win I'm out anyway but otherwise bioware just saved me £100/yr. I've never been overly happy with the gameplay past level 15 tbh but was willing to keep a subscription going to aid development. I wanted to see flashpoints to the same quality as the first, proper space combat and more freedom of choice. Looks like that won't happen now, I get the feeling its all trinkets and re-hashed missions from here out. For their sake I hope I'm not typical because if I am this game won't make it to Christmas!
  5. Well for me the good news is that while we currently pay 3 subscriptions in my house after f2p is launched we wont. The bad news is that I can see many other households doing the same thing which means less investment, less development and a slow decline into a trinket heavy but generally shallow world environment. It's also quite anoying that I just took out another 6 month subscription.
  6. This thread again?! Despite very busy threads of people saying how the single player rail game doesn't fit an MMORPG since before release. Despite complaints from the outset at how disappointing the space game turned out to be - even with low expectations set after hearing it was a tube shooter. Despite months of begging for details about what they hope to do with the space game, they remain suspiciously silent. If it's staying on rails the short term fix would have other players able to control turrets and spin them around to face out to the side or rear of the craft while the pilot concentrates on piloting. Long term it has to come off the rails though.
  7. Transfers worked really well for me. I decided to move after discussion with other players I like to group with and my character was over to the new server in seconds. Once there it was great to see other people in the game again, previously I could have gone through a whole session without seeing another player but now I'm considering turning off player names so that I can see better! Props to Bioware, they had several options open to them including ignoring the problem, forcing server merges or providing a pay-for transfer system but they chose to do right by us and allow us the choice without trying to squeeze money for it.
  8. I can't get the right character on this daft iPad but it's basically Caetos. That's Aetos meaning eagle with a C at the front. Very personal o me and only a handful of people's know why
  9. It should be modable. It is not which makes it a pointless waste of time.
  10. I was just wondering. If I am in and instance and log out to do some RL stuff how long to I have to log back in again before the instance is reset and I'm dumped outside again? Is there a maximum instance duration or is it after x minutes of being offline?
  11. I get the feeling it wouldn't be too hard to add vocal customisation to your character by allowing at character creation a subtle alteration to the tone or range of the vocals. Nothing so severe that people can end up sounding like one of the smurfs but enough so that people can create a custom character. It seems this would be a fast, efficient and cheap alternative to offering several voice sets while accomplishing the same end result.
  12. Imperial or Republic? I unlocked 5 now on imperial side,
  13. Better more flexible searching, correctly identifying schematics that are already known or items unusable by the player or specified companion. Plus a current going rate tool when selling would save time. Not sure an auction is the right way to go but perhaps a "make an offer" button so you can get a mail saying the item didn't sell but a player offered x and you can mail it for COD. Kind of like a blind bid system. Finally, remembering preferences for when you return.
  14. Doesn't happen on my pcs either but they have bigger problems, let me know if you find a fix!
  15. Ditto, snap to grid option and grouping of Ui components so the can be moved and scaled together. Also can we change the cut scene subtitles font, size and colour yet because if we can I can't see the option!?
  16. Yes it will play games well but the systems not balanced. you're spending way more than you need to and it will run hotter and noisier than it has to for that performance too. Personally I'd ditch the SLI, its not worth it. Combine the money and spend it on a single good gfx card. This will simplify the system and reduce power and heat in the case. It also gives you a wider range of motherboards so you can select one that is bother cheaper and better performing perhaps with USB 3 on board. I'd also suggest a normal SATA drive for OS and data - it wont be as fast but they do last longer. If you want a SSD for your games or high performance apps by all means but 64GB wont last you very long at all. 32GB of ram is far more than most people would ever need. I have database servers using less than that! Start with 8 as RAM gets cheaper and it's easy to add more if you start to run low. Don't forget you will need to add an operating system too. Win7 Ultimate (64) would be my suggestion.
  17. Many exploiters will see the actions they take as no more serious than googling the location of datacrons. Especially as in this case it only really effects their own bank balance. The exploit doesn't effect other players directly so don't be too upset upset but I see that it could effect the economy as these people will be able to purchase stuff from the GTN at far inflated prices. This would effect others as it would cause an inflation of prices on the GTN and as a result a devaluation of the currency so I'm glad they put a stop to it as soon as possible. I'm a forgiving chap though so I wouldn't ban the exploiters for a first offence. Those people guilty of using the exploit to farm cash should have all their money and equipment removed from their characters and be left with just an orange jumpsuit.
  18. First point to mention is that 2am for the yanks is not 2am for the rest of the world. This is why people find patching out of the regular time a problem. I'm in the UK and at work so I don't really care too much right now, but if I lived in East and was looking forward to that one time a week I have a chance to get online without work/wife/kids disrupting me and I found the server was down for unscheduled maintenance I'd be a little upset. The ONLY way to address this problem is to split maintenance times and do one server group at a time. They already have two server groups for patching - live and test - so the client can do it and it would allow them to roll out patches to one server group and have a few hours to assess impact before starting the next group. There is no down side. They've got better though, they've stopped calling these 'scheduled maintenance' and opted for the more true 'unscheduled' tag . Now the question left is whether the maintenance is urgently required or could have waited until Tuesday. If they're going to fix an issue that stops more than 5% of the gamers from playing properly (like repeated crash to desktop - and I don't know how many people get this) then I'd say it's worth it. If they're fixing a nasty little exploit that people are using to cheat in PvP then fair enough. We won't know if it's worth it until after the maintenance when we read the logs. Even then the logs may not reveal the severity of the issues that are addressed.
  19. Actually I thought it would be good to add plague effects as they where in the event to some of the tougher Taris rakghouls but beef up the space port gaurds to restrict people getting to the fleet too easily - and disable the fleet pass while infected too. Glad to see it's still a going concern though.
  20. I am very excited by this. I really hope that TOR can live up to the promises and allow Pilot to be a valid class/subclass.
  21. Increase the difference in speeders speeds. I am certain this has been mentioned before but after spending a ton of credits on my speeder at lvl 40 I am very unimpressed by the tiny fraction of a speed boost it gives. The starter speeder feels quite slow but I foolishly thought that as I go up in levels the sit on ones would remedy this. Now I realise that even the level 50 speeders are going to be stuck in first gear. Perhaps this was because bioware wanted to avoid having its worlds appear small, or making it too easy to avoid agro of mobs? I really dont know but I hope they do something about it.
  22. The plague does not persist through defeat...
  23. I love this event, good quests and it draws players to one location for some proper mmo interaction! More like this please!
  24. The servers went down on Thursday with only 1 days notice for 1.2. This might have been thought of as a good thing but if the patch was not ready on Tuesday then it could have waited to the following Tuesday. No one would have known, no one would have cared. Pushing it out on short notice like this resulted in many subscribers in the EU and Aus being unable to play on a day they thought that they would be able to. (did you know kids are on holiday for easter in the UK?) Worse, the 1.2 patch obviously had a few unresolved issues as it was on Friday the day after the patch you had to patch again. This second patch downtime fixed some fairly minor stuff according to the patch notes. Again this should have waited until Tuesday. As a result of forcing short notice 'scheduled' maintenance you've upset a great many subscribers. You must have been aware that every software change comes with a risk of a mistake and now there has been a mistake the servers are down for 8 hours while you run around trying to fix it! Stick to Tuesday for updates and patches with the exception of course of fixing show stoppers like you've introduced with 1.2a.
  25. Part of me says "Should have been in at launch" - but this is excellent news all the same! Well done.
