  1. My experience is that you cannot post on the forums unless you have an active subscritpion. If I ended my subscription today I would still be able to post on the forums (and play the game) until my game time (the last day of my three month subscription) passes. This, I believe is standard practice for pay 2 play MMOs. The forums are there as an extension of the game and are designed for constructive discussion amongst and contribution from players of the game. If you cease to be a player of the game and/or breach any of the previously agreed forum rules then you lose the right to use said forums. Seems reasonable.
  2. I can't say after 6/7 months. I'll decide at the end of the first year. Bioware had a development plan that must have covered the first 12months, I would like to see what that is. The game has potential - for example if at the end of 12months they announce that for year 2 they'll be taking space of rails and injecting proper space exploration, space battles, capital ships etc. I'd like to see how that looks. (Seriously the current space aspect of this game is just lazy development IMO - they could have and should have given us more). However, whatever happens I will be playing Elder Scrolls Online so Bioware will have to bring out some big guns to even keep this game as my secondary MMO, which it will be once ESO drops (a case for F2P maybe).
  3. My honest opinion. It's a good game. It is just that given what I've experienced with other MMOs this game isn't as good as it could be. The above is compounded on by the mistakes Bioware have seemingly made. The over-estimation of server populations. Then, the lack of information/communication and length of time it took to implement server transfers - and the said thing is, it didn't take that long to implement transfers (compared to other games) the lack of information and communication fed the anxiety making it seem that it took long. Then, the decision to over-populate the most active (EU PVE) sever as part of the transfer policy so that players had to wait to log-in was bizzarre. Why not just increase the populations of the second and third most populated servers with those players? It all just adds to the frustration. If this was RIft or any other new fictional Universe I'd say "meh" and expect the players to stick it out until the next best thing. But this is Star Wars it's supposed to be the best thing. The game has pedigree, it has the richest history of lore and mythos going. It also has a ton of other best selling critically acclaimed games t could base its gameplay on. I don't understand why the PvP and Space games in this aren't Battlefront 2. I don't understand why there isn't any pod racing or Pazaak. I don't understand why combat is so static when games like Terra show that they don't have to be. I don't understand why there isn't any proper space exploration, hidden Worlds found by collecting star maps. Bottom line this game should be better. If it was a off the shelf single player game, it would be fine. I could play it and leave it. But it's not, it's an MMO and I want to be devoted to it long after my PC - that I built to play this game - has exceeded its own lifecycle. I don't think the game is in trouble, there are more people online happily playing than there are complaining on the forums. So I'll probably stick with this hoping space gets off rails, that frame rate and optimisation is actually improved, that the graphics get a massive High Def update and the World become more vibrant and dynamic and I hope that mini-games are included.
  4. This! Always this. The Red Eclipse is clearly the most populated server. It should have been kept off the list of destination servers.
  5. It is frustrating to the point of wanting to walk away from my PC in discuss. ALL they had to do was make the next most populated server a destination server. Instead they overpopulated the most populated server. So now it's suffering from lag and general overpopulation woes while the other 19 English EU servers stand empty. The idiocy, and it is, is astonishing.
  6. There are roughly 20 PVE English speaking European Servers. We know that there is/was a problem with server population and a large number of dead servers. This is best identified by the fact that The Red Eclipse was arguably the only EU PVE server to achieve a standard population of players in the month/s before the recent transfers. So bioware gave us transfers. Instead of offering transfers to the second most populated server, thereby bumping its population up to Red Eclipse levels. It made Red Eclipse a destination server. So what we do we have now. 1 EU server - The Red Eclipse - that is overpopulated and is suffering from waiting times for players to log in. And at least 19 empty EU English servers. The genius of it astounds me.
  7. If I can't transfer from Rogue Moon to Red Eclipse then I've lost my main toon. I doubt I will be able to transfer from Red Eclipse to elsewhere as it is the most populated English PvE EU server.... (preferred Rogue Moon though).
  8. Question: My main toon is on a low populated EU server, 'Rogue Moon'. I rerolled on highly populated 'The Red Eclipse' EU server. I've yet to achieve Legacy on both servers. Will I be able to move my main toon to The Red Eclipse or should I just delete him?
  9. If Malgus had suffered the injuries Anakin did (that turned him into Vadar) he'd have either died or been left for dead by Sidious. There is a post above debating whether Vadar has acrobatic and dexterity skills on par with other Jedi. He fought and killed Masters so it's likely that he did in excess of what is shown and could be shown in the movies due to technological limitations.
  10. Personally I think Rift is a superb MMO, couldn't ask for more from the game. It just needed more players. Personally think that's a large number. There was 150 people on the Fleet yesterday. I couldn't talk to them all and at most I interacted with 8 in a PvP and a further 3 in a Flashpoint. So I'm not seeing what benefits I'd get from 20k people or 1.3million. All I require is that the one server I'm on is suitably populated and a million people is an excessive largely incomprehensible number. For decades now the Star Wars franchise has expanded beyond the movies. To be moaning about this in this game seems bitter and pointless. Given the commercial success of the era in relative terms, I think that would be quite a respectable demographic. Honestly, the game is clearly titled Star Wars: The Old Republic. From the very beginning BioWare were clear about the setting, the era and (if people were still unsure) there are two previous games to draw a conclusion from. What did you think you were going to get. Luke fighting Vadar?
  11. I disagree. It's an MMO, these games cater for people who enjoy online public/social gaming but who are prepared to pay and contribute to see the game develop. I cannot think of one MMO that was 'finished' when it is was launched. I cannot think of a single MMO that after the 1st year looks like it did at launch. You play to enjoy the game. You pay to see it developed. That's how it works, well for me in anycase. When development goes in a direction I cannot abide or the game comes to the end of its natural life cycle, then I leave.
  12. Good point and it's the same point why I think Vadar would win. Firstly when Vadar and Sidious were around the rule of two was in full swing. "One to embody power, the other to crave it" The rule of two largely consolodated the power of the dark Side around two beings, Master and Apprentice. Darth Bane commented on how the dark side was diluted amongst many Sith, where they should be craving power. Furthermore Vadar benefitted from learning from the Dark Lord of the Sith, The Emporer and arguably the most powerful Sith in history. Vadar would have also benefitted from Sith knowledge developed over 1000s years after Malgus would have died and was himself pretty powerful, what with him being able to routinely kill Jedi Masters, despite never reaching the level as Anakin. Vadar didn't need to and probably couldn't openly defy the Emperor in the way that Malgus was ableto defy and power grab against the Dark Council. For Starters The Empire was larger and had more resources than the Old Sith Empire (Sidi's Empire held both republic and imperial space). Lastly, what was there for Vadar to power gab except Sidi's life, which was the point of the rule of two?
  13. How do you know. How do you know that it isn't they are planning to develop and build upon. SThe Intellectual property, the franchise was built with equal parts space combat, equal parts planet hopping ground combat. It certainly wouldn't damage the game if they included an expansive space element to the game.
  14. OK Server Merges/Transfers. If they block the heavily populated servers and left 3- 5 destination servers. Once everyone who needs to migrate has done so and then kill off the now empty servers then isn't the end result the same as a transfer? It's easier than merging as well - because it allows the indivdual to deal with the duplicate name problem when they choose to move as oppose to BioWare having to do it for the player. Massive E3 Announcement Firstly they didn't promote the fact that the game was goign free to play up to level 15. That'll get you to an advance level and part way through the second planet. That announcement, arguably the most significant indicator of a need to encourage new players sort of popped up at the end... The rest of it left me underwhelmed. I mean I'm happy there is clear development, but it's much of the same and nothing I would categorise as "Massive" or even significant. I'd expect new planets, new species, new War Zone, new Operation from a standard patch like 1.4. I can't see them justifiably charging for this "Expansion" dangerous precedent IMO. A little dissapointed that Space is still on rails.
  15. Personally I don't understand why there isn't a space PVP too the scale of Battlefront 2. I wanna space dog fight and the ability to land on a ship - real time. Fight may through the the core, destroy it and have 2min to get back to my ship before it blows up.
