  1. This is a tough question because context really tweaks it. For example while low level a sentinel/Mara is going to feel quite squishy. This is because much of their survivability is in the form of defensive cooldowns instead of general mitigation. At 50 they actually have perhaps the best survivability of any dps specced class, but until they get higher level those benefits don't shine too well. Alternately tank classes obviously have good survivability but mediocre damage output will be minimal. A hybrid specced Shadow with part in the tanking tree and part in either dps tree offers a great survivability to dps blend, but again this won't show until they are high enough level to actually become a hybrid spec Gunslingers/SNipers are great at keeping enemies off of them, but once those kiting abilities are used up then they are cannon fodder. Sages when specced at least halfway into the telekinetics tree are extremely hard to kill but in doing so they are giving up a lot of primary function (losing the group heal as a healer, losing the top half of the balance tree as a pvp dpser). As far as pve-dps however telekinetics has a decent survivability to damage rate.
  2. Yeah from what I've seen it would probably have people a bit grumbly and disgruntled were this a traditional $30+ expansion, but for less than the cost of a one month sub it is more then plenty to keep me happy. And the context someone else used was another good'n Take movie tickets, a single blue-ray disc, heck any cd that isn't out of the bargain bin and there yah go.
  3. Companions do not get expertise benefit, therefore a fully BH'd up companion would outpace a WH companion. That said the difference is small enough to be irrelevant and most of the "victims" are probably still optimizing their own 26's and 27's let alone putting companions in them. So the idea seems good but in practical application would actually be a wash in most circumstance.
  4. Actually if you haven't already there's not a whole lot of point to worrying about completely maximizing it. You only hit 40k in three weeks if you did it for all three, if you were at say 12600ish from week 1 (i.e. used blue instead of purple at the end) you'll come up about 400 rep short.
  5. If you really wanted to nit-pick 16 (there's a solo quest at newcomer that nets two helixes) That said-- you don't need to be a raider to do SM Xeno, I have run Hardmode on two characters Storymode on 5. Out of all of that I did one HM with my guild and none of the SM's-- the rest were all just seeing someone in general asking for more and joining up. As long as you have some Columi you'll be fine.
  6. Not necessarily. A great way can be tagging along when bigger guilds do their secondary type ops (TFB/EC comm runs, HM EV/KP, etc.). Often you can catch a guild that has 5-6 and needs a couple more. Do well on these and toss the stray "happy to help anytime you need me just shout" kind of a deal afterwards. Basically you're working to get on friends lists of guilds that will run more advanced content, that way when they need a fill-in you get the call. Once you can do this with 3-4 guilds you can often end up asked at least once a week. Now if you want top-tier progression (nightmare EC) then yes you probably will need to actively seek out to join a progression-caliber guild. Anything below that you shouldn't have much issue with.
  7. There was already a thread asking this that already met with a response, that response was "nope Working as intended" The reasoning behind this was so the playing field was somewhat leveled between those with 1-2 characters that they stay near exclusive to and those with several alts (I would assume a sub component being the intent that to get 18 you need to take down at least storymode Xenoanalyst once). While I'd prefer to swap around components as someone with more'n a couple 50's I do see the intent so its something I can deal with.
  8. I think a solution could be Bioware's Making A change to the zone with more points for the taking Make two central turn ins, or perhaps three or four So with forces divided we even the score Or 'else to make the dome a gree guarded site so that outside the center all groups have to fight With free for all outside and no mid to deny the q-ers might q less with more places to hide It falls less to flagging and a zone to kill all but more to the lone point and the quest it involved achievers they see it with completionist eyes which is why they're so p****ed off when'er they die Explorers they look at the new zone quests to They hope to accomplish a time or two These types may like fighting if ever they tried but the way this is set up, they just see that they died It a shame that the white hats are forced to police They shouldn't need waste time just keeping the peace but I thank them for trying as it does help the weak though at least with my scoundrel the orbs I can sneak This thing got derailed as I've not done a poem In quite a long time, as it's fiction that's home but t'was fun to try it, if not just to flex Those brains cells not worked by, a job not complex` Long story short it's just theorycrafting now but I think they would have been better served taking one of two approached 1.Decentralize pylon turn-ins by having 2-3 points, thus making it hard for a single dominant group to control (thus allowing secondary groups to have a much better assault chance) 2.Make very center guarded by gree enforcers, thus pushing the actual pvp activity outside the dome which would make it more focused on roving assaults then point control. This means that those who aren't lions may get chewed on a few times but they have a better shot at ultimately being able to eat as well.
  9. About the unobtainable weapons as well-- the was already a dev post stating the vendor will remain beyond the event. If you can knock out SM xeno and the world bosses a couple times then saving up enough rep should be no issue. I know if we assume linear rep increases (we shall find out Tues) I already have the items to be about 1k rep into champiodespite not playing at all Fri or Sat
  10. These always seem to have an eerily similar opening gist "I was your staunchest supporter until X thing happened to me instead of sebody else..." I am sorry for your bad experience with phoning CS but have read more "my wait wasn't that bad" notes in ese types of threads then I have hold tome.horror stories leading me to believe they are the exception, not the norm for my own experience calling CS to remove my old security key when I got a new phone, it was 30ish min Wait with the issue resolved less than 5 min into the conversation
  11. Is there a dramatic jump at the 27 level of gear? I ask because so far I am just not seeing it. My repair bills are up but doing the xenoanalyst WB on HM for example we wiped about 4 times before we knocked it out Afterwards my tank's repair bill was roughly 43k with nearly all black hole gear (with a 27 barrel, offhand armoring. Similar experience on my sage that paid out 28k for two wipes (geared about the same). Yes it is up but not seeing these six digit+ repair bills, or even any chatter I'm general about seome having them nor saying they font exist, only that the yay be more isolated them beimg made out on these forums.
  12. If the dps is modest it actually isn't too hard to hit the enrage on hk. I've had a few times on my healer where tionese/columi blend groups have hit the enrage, though my scoundrel out gears it enough that it isn't a big deal to just heal through aside from his stealth instagibs.
  13. I tend to hold odd hours as well as PuG a fair amount of ops. I have any role available and am always happy to try and help. Unfortunately I tend to spend a lot of time trying to knock out BH and Sec-X weeklies across several alts so I'm not often hanging around fleet to catch a lot of the lfg calls there. If you need a vanguard tank, scoundrel/sage/commando healer, dps sage, or dps sent feel free to hollar. I spend most of my time on cyperian, cy'prian, and cylerian.
  14. I think this falls to both sides being right and wrong. Unfortunately more of an issue is not so much the stance either takes but the vitriol with which they hold for those of the opposite. I'm more of a pve-er that toys around with pvp at this point, so open world skirmishes erupting really are not to my taste most of the time. That said, the few times where I have ventured into south-central Ilum I did so entirely aware that I could find myself back at respawn on short order. If I'm roaming and someone picks a fight I'll probably lose to someone more dedicated to pvp and I will be irritated at being killed, but neither will I hold it against them for doing so. That said, I find a big difference between roving the still relatively small FFA area and engaging any red names you come across in the process and camping out that central focal point with the only real aim being to perpetuate area denial. You'll never find me grousing about a group choosing to do so in general (I was actually overselling how much I was enjoying the event in my guild's chat because I was getting irritated at some of the complaining), but I do think it goes against the spirit of what pvp used to be. That said I find it as much a design flaw on BW's part as a questionable character aspect on those participants' part. What tweaks could have been made (3+ deposit locations, increase the cube's required but deflag inside the thunderdome-- thus changing where point control fighting occurs) are an argument for another post but I don't think they did themselves any favors as it creates a system that put way to much faith in the natur of pvpers (hoping they will stick to 4v4 or not seek point control domination as a unit).
  15. Is this a pve or pvp server? If pve then your autoflagging when entering the center FFA area should not leave you flagged when you run back up to the northern pve content, only time you'd stay flagged is if you manually toggle.
  16. There must be some kind of huge ramp-up between 61 and 63 because today I was on my Sage who has all Black hole with a 27/63 hilt and offhand armoring. Wiped twice and my repair bill was 28k, a tick up but nothing special.
  17. Repair costs were adjusted because prior to they were counting items from the orange shell level not the mod/armor/enhancement level. "community fear" is akin to "people making junk up and flinging it at a wall to see what sticks". Sorry they have plenty of faults but this point is baseless fearmongering.
  18. Just curious if there was a change to civil war somewhere that I didn't pick up on where a player is no longer killed when up in the other teams spawn area (the speeder drop for mid). Once when coming down from spawn a guardian leapt to my character and once he arrived popped my stun. He was up there the full four seconds of that stun (in addition to the half second before) then had time for one more GCD before jumping down. Later a similar thing happened with a sage on the other team. I pulled him up there with grapple and stunned him, only for the stun to go full duration and nothing happen. Now I haven't done a lot of pvp in several months, but it seemed it used to only be acouple seconds tops before the autokill, thus leaving me rather confused.
  19. I know how frustrating it is, believe there are times where my dogs up and leave the room because I'm yelling at the screen so much. I just feel that telling someone how stupid they are acting benefits no one. The berate-er gets themselves more irritated and the one being told shuts off any attempts to possibly grow because they're too busy being frustrated or irked at the other person. I'm never going to pretend to be among the ranks of the top pvpers, not only am I just shuffling back into the fold after a few months mostly pve-ing (making me rusty as ____) I'm also starting to spend time on a character that's seen all of a couple dozen warzones at 50 total and trying to learn nuance there. So if I do get called out no biggie, it isn't so much an issue for myself personally. Moreso it is for all of those who are newcomers who don't really have a clue yet. Yes you can argue that the WZ experience is better without them, but lose much of the fresh blood and eventually it'll become a famine. Like I said doesn't mean you have to hold people by the hand and baby them along the way, but if they are seemingly beyond redemption i'd say just not say anything
  20. Heh amusingly after puttering around this thread logged in and first WZ in the only person to leave (and doing so the instant the opposite side capped) was someone with your guild tag. Side note-- When it would have been easy to write off the match Battanid took some time to try and instruct folks and while it was what you'd think was common sense basic stuff, just reminding people about focus fire and target priority in a constructive way had a very noticeable effect.
  21. If it's because of trying to be, as per your example, a dark jedi-- there's a host of cartel helms that are in the GTN for credits (i.e. you aren't paying out any Cartel coins yourself), has a variety of options. Beyond that, the tionese--> rakata headpiece (the eyepiece) is pretty role neutral, looks quite "dark" on my Scourge companion.
  22. I think however folks might also want to look not merely at the competition but within as well. Was in a Novarre coast that did not go great but was not a steamroll at least. You could tell most of the team was inexperienced just by reactions and functionality. Ended up losing 52%-0 so while it wasn't down to the wire, neither was it a 100-0 domination. Throughout the WZ the Vanguard slumrat spent a good amount of it telling the team how they were F____ idiots and other assorted colorful putdowns. I've seen enough to pretty much ignore such things, however I could easily see how a newcomer subjected to similar warzones and commentary at 50 would quickly either decide to go the route of solely PVE or become a knee-jerk WZ leaver. People need to be given a chance. This doesn't mean its everyone's responsibility to play teacher to every neophyte that comes along, but at least a modicum of respect can keep a disappointing match from becoming a miserable one.
  23. I'd be in favor of this, if there's one thing I took away from when I played Lotro it was that they had a great cosmetic system in place. The number and shades of dyes, cosmetic slots, and wardrobe (acted as shared storage but for cosmetic-slot only) were great for customization, think each of my characters had a different look 2-3 times a week thanks to it.
  24. Paid Transfer'd go high for me as well (poor mothballed Sorc on Shadowlands... as well as his bit over a million credits would be nice) Also I'd love to be able to create a 'friendly' for lack of better term WZ queue-- basically a dummy match with those who enter for no comms/rating/etc. Would be a great way to teach/show guildies that are interested in trying pvp but leery to jump straight in. Also gives a venue for more advanced groups to practice strategy as well. Cosmetic-- while I am normally loathe to say "should be like X game" I would really love for this one to steal heavily from Lotro's cosmetic system with regards to 1.wardrobe storage locker (acts shared) 2.Cosmetic equip slots to override "stat" armor cosmetically 3.Comprehensive dye system.
