  1. I have to admit that one was thing that kind of surprised me with this game. The first couple weeks of its incarnation I was playing it on a newer but fairly inexpensive laptop that utilized basically low setting all around to maintain a healthy FPS. Just over a week ago I finished building the machine I had been working on and while it isn't a powerhouse that'd play top-flight solo games at ultra-max settings it is a solid enough desktop able to readily handle MMO demands at high. Logged on with everything cranked up only to see relatively little difference was a bit surprising. I am not one to be that concerned with having absolute cutting edge graphics, enjoying the heck out of this game so far regardless but it was a little surprising in comparing it to the other MMO I still currently have installed (Lotro) and the graphical change being able to ramp up settings.
  2. The problem nowadays is the combination of hype meets gloom and doom. Every new MMO on the horizon is the next great thing, every pre-existing one is wrought it flaws threatening it's imminent destruction. Many of these flaws are very real and present, not foolish enough to write them off as nonissues. That said, I can remember when Warhammer, Conan, and Rift were all supposed to be that 'next great mmo' that ultimately failed to meet expectations. Some were impacted more by the flaw side (Conan) but all were a combination of flaws and overhype netting the expectation of something revolutionary. What happens now is a certain cross hatching of nostalgia and burnout that throws a whole lot of mixed messages into the lot (I wish it did X, Y, and Z like this game--- but A, B, and C are too similar to that game). Every game has certain elements you can cherry-pick as what you would like to see in your ideal MMO, along with commonalities that one wishes did not exist. Ultimately nothing will meet either the hype or the gloom and doom, most will now stabilize somewhere in a middle ground. The era of an all-consuming Juggernaut of an MMO a la WOW from late vanilla through early WotLK is quite unlikely to exist in the current climate, as it will now be about a solid share over market dominance. Because of this there will always be a new MMO on the horizon that on paper looks like the latest and greatest, while existing flaws in current ones will be even more victimized by a 'grass is greener' syndrome because of the variety of mid-large market MMO choices.
  3. Sith Sorc ( main) --Rattatki Jedi Sage-- Mirialan Republic Smuggler-- Zabrak Republic Trooper--Cyborg Jedi Knight-- Miraluka (likely to change) Bounty Hunter-- TDB (Leaning Chiss) Any MMO for first inclination is to steer away from 'human' toons and basically my choices go from there, hence my leaning towards dumping the Miraluka in favor of something else (just one human-esque in the cyborg is enough for me).
  4. Haven't had that exact problem but have had a few times where my mouse cursor becomes temporarily invisible. I can select things still as witnessed by the highlighting when I mouseover them and clicking, but without the visible cursor one can one guess in approximations where one is clicking. Hasn't happened a ton (four or five times total) but seems to happen most often when first entering flashpoints.
  5. I'm curious being that you are level 10 do you have an actual/official lightsaber yet? I ask because the starter items you get as jedi/sith are not actual lightsabers and it isn't until generally right as you are leaving the starting zone (somewhere between about 9 and 12) that you actually receive yourfirst true lightsaber. You will know the difference because that one will have moddable slots open when you ctrl+right click on it.
  6. I can see both sides of the coin here. I am one of those forum junkies who once I approach cap like to dig into all the tidbits folks have to offer about a given class, rotations, specs, gear, etc. I may not choose to adhere to the exact min-max optimum of everything but I usually end up close enough to it to have no issues with regards to effectiveness. Regardless of that I still like the capacity to inspect in order to have some things to think about or just to no if someone's overtly traited in a clueless fashion (there's a distinct difference between a serviceable but suboptimal spec and one that is just plain bad, I don't need someone to be min maxed but would prefer they are respectable). That said, I also like that if I decide upon a given spec that isn't the cookie-cutter optimum (and haven't gone deep enough on any specific toon to have looked into this heavily yet) I like the ability to prove it in a group setting rather then be denied by virtue of an inspection where the leader saw something he didn't agree with. At the end of the day probably better that it not become an option, I can put up with not assuaging my curiosity in exchange for preserving a bit of folks' privacy.
  7. Have to agree, I very much prefer the hood-down look which means that basically any head piece beyond circlet-esque ones have to be hidden or the hood flat-out disappears. There's my specific helm right now I'd love to have active along with the hood because I think they would look great as a combo, but instead I am stuck choosing one or the other (with the hood ultimately winning out).
  8. I think similarly. Given the choice of relatively easy re-doing or not at all I incline towards not at all. That said, I wouldn't be adverse to a single-shot mulligan where they can swap advanced classes once. I don't think having two to try and then swap back is necessary because I feel the focus for it should be 1."I hit the wrong button/didn't intend to choose that one" 2."A couple levels in and I really don't like this playstyle, I want to go the other route" Those can be solved with a single-time use of it. If you get one advanced class, decide to swap over, then realize you really did like the first advanced class better then that's life, the compassion only extends so far. As has been mentioned your advanced class is your 'real' class. This is not a trait tree but a character-defining choice, having the capacity to swap back and forth multiple times just undermines the nature of making the decision in the first place, had they wanted that they would have just made 5 talent trees.
  9. Three days ago means you should be among the last wave to get in. When that last wave is given access is probably indeterminate at the moment as it's most likely based upon ongoing server stability as each successive wave is let in. I would say even the best case scenario is more likely to be the 16th or 17th for that last wave however with my best guess being 2-3 days of pre-order play for that final wave of folks.
