  1. This is where an active guild comes in nicely...a good guild will understand that not everyone has run an OP and will take the time to explain the fights for the noobs in chat or over a "Teamspeak" service. I personally gave up on OPs if not in a guild due to the kind of behavior described by the post, and the elitists doing the "must be geared & know the fights". Even some of us that have been around since beta have not run all OPS and need intel on fights.
  2. Yes, their timing is appalling & QA should be done before a release (not after it) - wait, are we the QA? - but our European gamers should also keep in mind that they weren't the only ones that lost a crap-load of game time. It took some of us in the states 10 hours to get through that fiasco as well. When it happens on your day off....that's prime time all day! That is also why Bioware/EA have lost at least one subscription...you all have buying power, not happy then hit them in the wallet and cancel.
  3. Hello all, based on information gathered from fellow community postings we may have success with the patching error. It has been mentioned to close the launcher and restart it, this does not always produce results (almost 10 hours later it took more steps). Not only do you need to close and restart the launcher, but before you do you should clear your cache. Additional postings mentioned the destination file being overly filled, so I loaded CCleaner to clear my internet/program caches. Reloading the launcher got through the main assets 225, but the install speed dropped significantly...although it was successful on both download & install. English assets 229 & game client suffered no speed loss on download or installing. Hope this helps more out there suffering from this issue....Bioware may not be able to get results, but the community can do their job for them...good luck!
  4. Another suggestion, if you are using third-party providers to host your patching and issues like this happen....cancel your contract with those parties & hire more competent providers of the service. Otherwise, it's your company that suffers with loss of customer base (some being loyal for years or returning to witness this failure). And yes, my sub is cancelled and I'm sure I'm not the only one that decided to take such steps. Subs are fixed income to report to investors and now you will see a decline in that margin.
  5. 9 hours & counting....I'm done even trying.
  6. 9 hours after the scheduled patch time and I'm still unable to complete the download...at this point it doesn't matter, my sub is cancelled. Must be consulting Sony on how to release new content.
  7. Must be nice to get on past the failed launcher patch....still unable to complete download 9 hours after scheduled maintenance time.
  8. "Testing a possible fix"....I haven't seen a failure this bad since Everquest 2's release. But at least they finally graced us with an update, provided you look for it or rely on the player community to inform others.
  9. Actually, that error while downloading patch data (Retrying...310) is getting subscriptions dropped. I am one of them. This error has been going for over 4 hour without any fix done. This is a totally unacceptable time frame when you know it's happening and choose to not give updates on forums/social media sites. Ignore your paying customers and lose money, it's that simple...we have buying power and there are many, MANY, games out there other than one that is broken every time they patch new content.
  10. 'Network error while downloading patch data. Retrying...(310)'...for 4 hours, My Account, cancel subscription. Fixed.
  11. Instead of taking you to the animation for Chapter 1 you find yourself on the fleet. This is only happening to the agent/sniper (as far as I can tell) since I can start the chapter with a juggernaut and have launched it about a dozen times with other classes.
  12. I'd agree with the last reply, if you don't want to do the required objective then skip it. It's not like you don't have enough companions after running the Star Fortresses....think I have near 20 companions to choose from &/or build reputation with. I would, however, suggest that Dr Lokin not be tied to Qyzen. That way, if he was part of your original crew you could get him back when the events take place. If he isn't tied to Qyzen's completion then disregard that, but I was under the impression he was tied to Qyzen's completion.
  13. Lord of the Rings Online implemented mounted combat...for myself it created horrible lag, yet when off the mount the game ran better to the point I stopped using mounted combat. While I see the logic with speeders having displayed guns I will also vote against this due to my experience on LOTRO. I can also imagine what it would be like on a pvp server...it's bad enough getting ganked while in combat with a mob, but not being able to be in range of someone on a mount? No thanks!
  14. Due to receiving 21 credit farmer spam in one day (no lie, 13 were from one individual) I feel we should have a mail preference. A setting to block mail from unknown players, yet allow for mail from GTN & guilds. This would eliminate the ability of these morons from mailbombing us. I know customer service has got to be sick of it as well considering I forward all that spam to them as "spam"...and after the 3rd one from the same farmer, it's submitted as harassment (imagine that day with the 21 mails, they had to love that!). Once this game went free-to-play this issue has flourished beyond reasonable limits and it's high time Bioware takes steps to relieve it's loyal players of this headache. Heck, can even implement preferred & sub status abilities...subs get the ability to set all mail preferences while preferred gets partial, and f2p gets none (yeah, know I just pissed off some freebie players). Considering that email services can filter spam, why can we not do this on an MMORP?
  15. I can confirm that the mission log has slivers that you can abandon and "reset" companions. Ran into this issue after the re-fixed companions. Sure glad they had to go and mess with them, haven't seen this many bugs since beta
  16. I am a sub as well and took a short break after Hutt Cartel. Prior to that I was playing since beta and pre-ordered. I feel like this level synch is a punishment...let me explain why. First, once I hit 65 I no longer get experience. Therefor reducing my level so that I can gain experience on lower level planets is an idiotic rational. All it does is make traveling more annoying because I'm getting jumped by trash that I'm trying to get past to hit the weekly heroics from the Alliance base...I now have to work harder to get through the trash to reach my true objective to build faction with the Alliance. Which brings me to my second point, it has made dailies more time consuming. Remember, now I have to fight through stuff that previously I had no problems dodging attacks and losing agro from. Thirdly, I never see my true stats....EVER! Even the weekly heroics for the Alliance take place on lower level planets, so I never see my true potential....until they release the next chapters and (hopefully) it takes place on an appropriately leveled world. That being said, I feel they need to make this an optional thing so that you could synch to assist lowbies when you have downtime or are just chilling doing crafting. Let us veterans unleash like we should be able to!!! I can deal with all the other changes from the expansion, but this level synch is likely to cause me to cancel my subscription...something I am seriously considering, and it's a shame because I do really enjoy the Star Wars universe/storyline. I was also an avid player of the KOTOR series, so this is logically the next chapter in that line for me.
  17. Anyone know where the heroic assignment required for the GSI weekly can be found? Checked at the Alliance oupost but didn't see it. If it was taken out of the game, then they need to fix the GSI weekly since it requires a heroic to complete. And yes, I also noticed less GSI dailies on Makeb...shame, they were easy enough to run through.
  18. I think it should be optional. If optional, you can always turn it on and assist lowbies, friends, etc that may be much lower in level than yourself. This is one pro to the level synch. The con...it makes doing dailies for faction in areas (for example Makeb, Hoth, Alderaan for GSI faction) inefficient & time consuming. Now instead of easily running through completing these things on a limited time frame ("I can get these done before work..."), you now have to contend with mobs that previously posed no threat. That threat does take a bit longer to eliminate and stretches the time required to complete what was a simple task before....and hence, inefficient use of resources (time). While they claimed in the August live feed that they don't intend to "punish players", this mandatory level synch does seem to be a punishment for the previous time we invested in reaching the levels we have. Let's see...X amount of years multiplied by subscription fees = mandatory level synch making you work harder when it should be easier? But that's just my view...one I'm sure others share. I petition for optional level synch for the express purpose of my above stated "pro".
  19. /signed I was rather offended that, as a subscriber, the Cathar race was not available to create unless I spent cartel coins. Not that I really care to play a Cathar, but as a subscriber this race should be available by default. Once again the free-to-play community is being centered upon instead of the loyal subscribers. Wake up Bioware, I think many of us subscribers are starting to become offended that we are not getting additional benefits besides what has been set from the start of the free-to-play launch. I've been subbed since the game went live and was in the beta crowd...but at this point I'm starting to look forward to a competitor MMO (Elder Scrolls Online for example) and I know I'm not alone.
  20. Barbershop...seriously? There are better things you could be dedicating time and effort to (like fixing the known issues that have been around since launch...like the graphical problems in space missions that make my brain bleed)? More and more things seem to be focused on the Cartel Market with less focus on the dedicated subscriber base. I find many of my characters sitting on a ton of credits because there is nothing to spend them on except legacy perks. Here's another idea...let subscribers use in-game credits that we grind at endgame for items. At least then we have something to shoot for as legacy perks become filled. Should also be dedicating more resources to more storyline and growth of characters, 5 levels added in the upcoming expansion will take some of us maybe 3 days to finish...then what?
  21. So here is my take...I agree with many mentioning the failure at releasing new end game content. The game has been out for quite some time now and one of the best ways to entice people to return/keep paying sub would be to release new content and raise lvl cap (5 lvls increase is more than laughable, it's insulting). I have 6 lvl 50s that are essentially "retired" because there is nothing to really do with them (pve anyways, pvp can go terrorize zones). I have no desire to create another character because I've done everything 9 times now...yes, 9 characters (3 pvp)...it's become monotonous. Secondly, I feel the f2p option is a bad idea. While it does generate larger player base generally, it usually ends up ruining the game for long-time players. I've seen too many games go f2p and then become so easy it's pathetic all to appease the f2p-players. I really don't want to see that happen with SWTOR. Unfortunately, they will be spending more time on appeasing these people that expect everything for free than to release new story and worlds. This is the first sign that their writers have hit a block and don't know what to do. When you create a game like this, you should be thinking long-term in not only finance, but for content. The basic business model calls for 5 years...implement it.
