Installing from setup.exe dl. Funny you should mention this, I have not backed up like this for ages but I found an old backup from a while back copied it over but its still doing the same thing, I also noticed I don't have the fixlauncher.exe.

Thanks for this quick reply Cawyden. I have done all of the things you suggest previously and no joy, I used to have to install the game in safe mode until recently so I have been in and out of safe mode a couple of times this evening on the off chance it would help, I have also tried starting the game from the launcher icon within the game folder and I get exactly the same behaviour sadly.

I know there are lots of posts about the launcher not working but few about the launcher not working right after running the setup.exe, nothing appears to happen after I click the game icon but on viewing the task manager I can see the launcher there but it only runs for about 30 seconds and then closes. As I have not even installed the game most of the fixes I have read simply do not apply as I don't have any files to play with, has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

I was looking to see if this option had been implemented to the rank permissions my self last night, in my opinion this is a crucial feature for all the reasons stated by the op.

I like what you have done here but I think you need to add more advanced options such as module class suffix as this enables customisation of the specific module, a feature I use a lot on my site.

If player bounties were to be added I have concerns, this is great if you like PVP but if you are a PVE player like myself it would be a distinct disadvantage if expertise was used in bounty PVP fights, so if this was introduced then expertise would have to be void or there would have to be an opt in/opt out otherwise it would be rather biased towards the PVP players. I'm not against the idea as long as its fair.

I cant say I agree that the game will be ruined by 12 year olds tbh, there may be an influx at the begining almost like the influx when a game is released, there are plenty of disruptive players for a while and then it settles out. If you look at alot of the FTP games which generally are not totally free to play and Im thinking of item hall based games such as Allods, Aion, Runes of Magic etc they actually have a decent community of helpful pleasant players, sure there is the odd idiot but you are going to find that everywhere. As people have said time will tell and we will only be able to judge when FTP is introduced, we are going to see far more of this in online gaming in the near future, I have read lots of articles dicussing this for and manner of gaming genres its the way its going to go so if its not what you want see for the future of online gaming your going to have to get used to it or go back to single player gaming. Online gaming/multiplayer gaming has evolved a great deal over the years, the biggest problem for me is the no effort required side of things, I cant see it going back to how it was back in the day so we have to accept it or stop playing not alot else we can do no matter how disappointed we are. I have my own guild in this game and have had in others, I have had no restrictions on age in one game and there have been problems caused by younger members and then no problems in other games, unfortunately its usually a youngster falling out with and older member but to be fair not aways the youngster at fault. In SWTOR i decided to have a loose age restriction of 20+ only, however we do have younger members, we dont have an open invite policy as such so its sort of by invite only or recommendation, if you pug with someone who is looking for a guild and they seem like a good sort and accept what our guild stands for as what they are looking for then fine. We have two members in particular who came to the guild due to one of their parents being with us, as they are both under 18 I expect their parent to have a certain amount of responsibilty for their behaviour but there has been no need as they get on with the game are polite and fun to be with and valued members of our little community. So it can work

Flame me all you like for this response I really dont care but I played tonight in the black hole and I was killing mobs just as efficiently as pre 1.2, I dont have all the best gear from ops but my gear isnt crap either. So why are you all whining about some minor changes? Get used to it and learn to play again if its that bad or you could even learn to play your class properly in some cases. I suspect alot of you rushed ahead for end game or pvp'ed your exp and avoided as much pve as you could to reach your personal goals, in doing so you missed out on a huge part of the learning curve that teaches you how to adapt as you class evolves. Im also guessing that alot of you insist that there is an optimal spec and gear that you must wear because if you dont you wont be uber enough, tbh I and many others find your whinging tedius to say the least. Anyone who has replied to this post like me saying they dont think we have been nerfed gets flamed instantly for having a different opinion. So if you want to go back to playing WOW with the 12 year olds then cheerio Im sure you will feel much more at home there because its such a perfect game.....NOT

First of all sorry if I repeat what may have been said but I couldnt be bothered to read the whole thread before posting my response to the OP. I have played Merc from release and tbh I have to admit we are definately overpowered anyway, I really dont see a problem with any of the changes to Merc least of all Death From Above. On my journey to level 50 my play style has evolved to be less reliant on certain abilities and as any experienced MMO gamer knows you have to adapt your class to all manner of situations, its comes with the territory and that includes changes to your class that you may consider a nerf. It may be a cliche but "Get over it adapt" is exactly what you have to do, posting in the forums isnt going to change anything over night and not everyone will agree with you. I appreciate your frustrations but it really isnt that bad.

I am quoting from way back on page 3 of this discussion but it peeved me so much I had to post a reply.... Why play? To have fun why do you think most people play you numpty, we are not all into being uber and having the best gear and all the bull that goes with it. If you want to play the game with a hardcore atittude and disect everyones play style and DPS then that fine by me but dont think that the MAJORITY of players think the same way you do. As for real combat logs I really dont care either way for reasons stated above, I can see how they can be used to benefit individual players and serious raiding guilds to improve performance when used sensibly but they are not the be all and end of any game, when they do become all that matters then your playing the game for the wrong reasons.
