  1. the only time i really have a problem with bombers is when i dont realize it's a bomber and follow it closely in my strike fighter, because through the red mist of bloodlust i only see a slow-moving target... the only times i really have a problem with gunships is when i miscalculate a head-on barrel roll approach and end up with no engine power at like 10km - or alternatively when i see only a slow moving target through the red mist of bloodlust and follow a bomber, not looking left or right
  2. if they don't, they should! draws are for soccers.
  3. I find both your ideas better than it is now... the exhaustion zone is something that could be done ASAP and I agree it would fix all the current problems around the cap ships. deathicide's idea indeed sounds like tons of fun if implemented right, so i'd be up for that as well, but this could take a while to get in the game, and even longer until it works as intended
  4. i said it before, after a couple of more matches my opinion is confirmed. there was some change to capital ships needed, but disabling turrets was the cheapest move conceivable. why not make it so the patch notes say "party on cap ships, everybody drunk, turret accuracy reduced by x%" or "minor power failure on cap ship, turret dmg output reduced by x%. would have been far better for gameplay, imho.
  5. thx for the replies. i did of course ask more than once that my legacy be transferred from POT5 to Europe, they declined. I read the stickies, and other guides, but all guides assume I level through pvp and have valor rank and comms rdy on 55. i don't, that's why I asked if it's worth the trouble. i remember leveling a couple of toons through pvp on POT5 and still hitting the gear-brickwall on 50 and getting creamed for dozens of matches. if you say it's not that bad anymore, why do people insist on me getting gear before even joining queues, which i dont know how to do ( is there a way to buy it?) i dont understand why i should wear low lvl pve gear. the bolster system is not selfexplanatory to me at all. my class is sentinel, spec is watchman, with 8 points for increased offhand dmg. i do have basic comm gear with augments and do around ~2,1k dps on an ops dummy
  6. I have returned to swtor after a long absence, started a new legacy in my current area (EU) so i can't move my legacy from US ... I got a new lvl 55, after getting started in GSF I find myself interested in ground pvp again, too. from what i read new players are strongly encouraged to lvl through pvp and buy stuff as soon as they hit 55. what do I do on 55 if i have not yet pvp'd this toon before? from the forum posts I read it seems rather pointless to try, because it would be an uphill battle forever. people even ask new players not queue in pve gear. how do I start, if at all?
  7. wouldn't it have been enough to lower the turrets damage by 50% (60, 70 - whatever)? so on a onesided match or if the opposing team hid there you could get in, shoot at the enemy and get back out. would require skill and a bit of luck but would have been better than no turrets at all and still spawning players would have had some protection. removing the spawn protection because some a**clowns exploited it, is a weak solution that will only see newbies farmed harder, the exploiters will find something else.
  8. curious, to me this sounds pretty much exactly like a rant. i can assure you, as someone exclusively flying strike fighter, that everything can be killed. if you or your teammates can't you need to do something different. i can't tell you what exactly, since i don't know you, but trying to sneak up on gunships using cover would be a start. taking out a bomber, how about you talk to someone and you 2man the bomber for a start. if that fails, try something different...
  9. "Quick_something" was actually posting right before you in this same thread
  10. did it occur to the proponents of "empty space maps" that not only would it be boring but really difficult to manage as well? i am pretty sure that in empty space half the players would be disoriented and goof off rather soon... i remember the same discussions from STO where people asked for the space maps to be empty. the devs explained they tried it, but the play testers got lost and in some cases "space sick" without the visual references. and STO does not even have full 360 free flight as GSF has. did i mention empty space is really boring, too?
  11. balance is quite good on red eclipse indeed. I thought if there was matchmaking it would consider the average equipment of your ships. thats why i cant change anything after q'ing.
  12. so you pick a gunship yourself and snipe them, if you can't get the kills otherwise. still don't see a problem. cap ship was important in 2 matches of mine yesterday. one time the imps definitely needed some backup, they got around 10 kills out of the cap ship turrets before we were done with them. the second time I was thankful for the extra muscle because we got farmed pretty hard. in short cap ships are a rebalancer in really, really one-sided deathmatches. I am pretty new to this still, but if I can figure out a counter to the admittedly lame strategy of constant cap ship hugging, so can you.
  13. it does. i am online almost daily between 9pm and 11pm and couple of hours more on weekends and near exclusively play GSF nowadays. i have yet to wait longer than 5min for any match to pop. after 3 weeks of this i recognise some usual suspects but not that many, telling me there is quite a healthy population of pilots around.
  14. why? seems to me like a very good strategy for gunship pilots. you fail to follow the maxims: 47. Don't expect the enemy to cooperate in the creation of your dream engagement. war is hell.
  15. on rep side Llamaeight (or similar) seems to always fly alongside Tilia, they always lay waste to the enemy in their gunships. Mbwun i know from dying a lot and then losing, too...
  16. stick with it. a little more than a week ago, i did not know how to load abilities into my ship: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=719633 now i do ok, get objectives, a couple of kills, even more assists and only die 2-3 times in a deathmatch.
  17. since i am one of those newbies who get farmed every once in a while, i got to say i don't see your point. calling out targets and focussing them as a group seems a legit strategy to me. since i have very limited experience with pvp games i have to assume that all strategies that don't involve exploits or bug-using are OK. the only thing that prevents me from doing the same is not knowing anyone who plays GSF, since i am only at it for a week. but the remedy for that is getting to know people... you have to ask people what they expect of a pvp game. even if q's were split up, even if there was ingame comms or whatever. with my current experience i would still suck, premades were still much better and I would get creamed every now and then. this IS the game we are playing
  18. i don't get it. limiting the number of ships allowed of a certain class? what kind of solution is that? we'll end up with scout limits on tuesdays when it's not raining. no strikefighters on football nights (either american or soccer) if everybody gets a vote on what they are comfortable with. not saying that there may not be balancing issues that need adressing , i am too new to this to say. but the "limit" idea is far out...
  19. depending on the mouse you use, you may have a configuration utility
  20. don't worry OP. i have been there a couple of days ago, same problems ... almost exactly. asked a couple of questions, looked at some external guides, now i'm comfortable with any battle. still die a lot because as is my nature i have not spend any time yet figuring out defensive strategies...
  21. until reading this thread i did not even know you could switch spawn points...
  22. Hello All, I was wondering if there is a channel for Republic GSF pilots for organization, grp forming, tactics discussion etc and if there's not are people interested in forming one? greetings
  23. bought myself a lefthanded naga, 90% problems solved.
  24. 18th battle. http://www.directupload.net/file/d/3527/r45x8cjp_jpg.htm i think I got it.
