  1. I do not think they will add anything beyond Ilum in the near future. Infact I dont even think they will do much of that at all. Call me a pessimist, but I have played way too many mmos already to have high hopes that any dev team would actually stand up to the challenge and give the pvp players what they would love - zones to pvp in with an actual meaningful goal and a way to get pvp rewards without having to grind battlegrounds/warzones etc. It would not be hard to do but I think most of the time these things fall under the rug when the develpopers think about the implications that such a zone would have. It means that they have to restrict the entrance to that zone quite a bit or otherwise you will encounter serious server stress there and the zone might lag like hell or even crash alot due to lots of players wanting to be there and take part in it. In case of swtor you must understand that Bioware wanted to create a story driven mmo where the casual gamer does not have to fear being ganked over and over while cruising through his storyline. You can see that all over the place, with the instanced zones, the way that you will not see any pvp before reaching tatooine etc. I havent even had one pvp battle in the open world while leveling before I reached level 45... Also on Ilum I rarely have fights if not for the daily quest area where the republic and sith troopers fight each other. You get a few fights a day there but also not that many as I had hoped. Sadly that is a trend that is quite obvious in mmos these days. The developers want way too much control about how and when ppl interact, and especially do any fighting. Bioware guys, you got devs who worked on DAoC and Warhammer and you havent even tried making a dedicated pvp zone that has some interesting landscape and features plus different objectives to capture? Shame on you! If there is one thing that you should incorporate from any other game then it is the keeps and rvr system from DAoC and build up upon that. It is truly one of the best things in any mmo and I really dont get it why no company has had the balls so far to actually try and use this and improve upon it for open world pvp in their own game...
  2. Right now my biggest issue is being unable to actually play wz pvp properly. I can play one wz, and after this I constantly get kicked back to the character selection screen. I tried unticking the requeue wz box at the end of the warzone, I relogged manually, I also logged in a different toon, then back to the one before, always getting thrown back to the character selection screen. What the hell?
  3. Ah youre right. I oversaw the elemental specifier. Should still be higher dmg with the increased crit chance and harder hitting crits. The third dot will be the combustible gas cylinder dot, yes. I would love to get the 31pt talent fixed though rather than having to rely on some of these hybrid specs. Right now it is very lackluster, even though you can get some high crits with it in pvp. Giving thermal detonator some kind of a dot after the explosion and making it deal fire damage instead of kinetic would actually go a long way to making it useful again. And of course aoe like the dart is, which it kinda replaces due to shared cooldown. Right now it is really only single target damage with a bit more damage and higher crits on one target instead of 3 :/
  4. I would rather go for this instead. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#3010MZMsMMoZfhrbzGhMc.1 You will be using the combustion cylinder for best effect. Youre dot heavy with this, railshot has maximum damage from talents, gets the extra 30% crit damage instead of a 25% chance for a sure crit from two abilities youre only using every 15 seconds anyways. I rather crit harder instead of that, especially when you will be stacking crit and surge. Great synnergy here. The points in burnout will ensure that your 3 dots will do very good damage in the last 30% of a fight, which will be quite a dps boost when you keep all 3 up constantly.
  5. Whats your problem with the screenshot? The sage wasnt far off the trooper in healing, plus he did more damage aswell. To make things clear for you, once you pick the healer advanced class, youre not really "tanky" anymore. I am not playing trooper but bh and both advanced classes at that, and I can tell you that even the "tank" advanced class is not really tanky anymore once you spec for dps in that. The healing advanced classes on trooper and bh get no shield generator and no talents to boost up shield chance or even make use of them. You will get around 30% armor from good gear, versus a real tank that is also tank specced will get 50-55% in good gear. The real damage mitigation mostly comes from not only the armor rating but from stacking shield chance and absorption and adding a bit of defense rating aswell. You can get around 45% shield chance and 50% absoption relatively easy, in pvp gear it might add a bit more shield chance but less absorption, this means you can add around 25% more mitigation to the normal defense. But this only applies to the vanguard and powertech advanced classes, not the healing types. Trooper and bh healers get the 25-30% armor and that is it. They dont have the defense stance that boosts their defense ratings by 60%, nor can they make use of shield generators.
  6. The vid just shows that healing seems to be relatively balanced. But a guy who isnt good at interrupting healing is going to loose to a healer pretty much every time in world pvp, simply because the pet does enough damage to kill the other guy
  7. WHAT? BH and Sorceror are in the same faction.
  8. To the original poster : Why do you even pvp in the first place? Ask yourself this. And if your answer is, that you expect some reward out of it, then please dont pvp and stick to pve. You get your rewards there. The reward you get from pvp is having fun and some challenge in going up against other ppl instead of AI. Pvp should have a little more meaning in forms of some capture and control game that may or may not grant the winning side some advantages though, I think we can agree on that. But it seems that mmo developers dont really want to innovate and bring any systems for this into their games. SWG had the player bases and later on some planetary control game. Daoc and Warhammer had their keeps and zone control/lockdown. Something like this would really bring alot more to swtor. Not sure if that is on their radar at all though...
  9. Yeah, give us that grace period of say a minute. It is ridiculous if you crash randomly and then have to wait AGAIN for more than 3 hours (Legions of Lettow). And also, LOCK playercreation on the servers that are having those massive queues. If you dont already got a character on it, then you shouldnt be able to create one there until the queues arent as big anymore.
  10. Farstar BH reporting in (Pre-Cu till NGE. Although I did not play more than one or two years in the nge, for obvious reasons) Got around 200 screened precu and cu fulltemp kills and some good memories aswell as bad ones chasing jedi all over planets with them logging off in hotels, houses, private guildhalls, MPowers jedi staying in stealth etc etc. Those who played BH will surely know what I mean Sadly there are no player bounties in SWTOR. So I will have to make due with open world group pvp, at least I hope that there will be a good open pvp community going on our server.
  11. I like being able to choose between tank and dps. Played merc in beta and even though being able to heal is nice at times, I still prefer having more dmg absorb and cc, plus being cc immune for some situations is going to be a great thing to have with all the melee/snare classes around. With the right spec you should be able to deal a good bunch of damage aswell that is not so much worse than a merc. Some 0 / 23 / 18 spec comes to mind at 50, for free railshot procs and also free rocketpunches. Should be a nice jack of all trades for pvp in a more offensive role.
  12. Who cares which server will have more quality pvp guilds? I am sure TOFN and LOL will have some good pvp, lets hope that open world pvp will be fun for a while until most ppl will loose interest like it always ends in all mmos In the end the fun that is to be had will count, and thats is always subjective to each person. And also, I dont really care much about "known" guilds either. Its pretty ignorant to rule out guilds that arent as well known but might actually be equally good in organizing themselves for group pvp in a new game. Just because they didnt play daoc/war/aion/wow/rift doesnt mean they will be much weaker in swtor after a short period of getting used to the game.
