  1. @Feldraeth- I didn't figure it actually was physically warmer, just that water tends to feel warmer the more of you when you're mostly or entirely wet, as opposed to just dipping your feet in. That, and Ketturah was trying to convince Cato to come in. Yeah, despite them both being basically child soldiers for hire, they do still have more of a sense of spontaneity/fun than older people. It helps that Ketturah's pretty resilient mentally, she doesn't get traumatized by her experiences as easily as, say Mallena might (although she's not delicate either) Comments on your stories spoilered for length and for those who haven't read them yet. Title: I Work Alone (Part 4) Prompt: Seven Deadly Sins: Pride Characters: Ketturah Atridies (Bounty Hunter) Length:1,100 words Spoilers: None
  2. Aww, thanks! Yeah, let's just say that personal codes like this are tailor-made for shoving protagonists into situations were they have to bend, stretch, add-to, or break them. Part 74: The World at the Bottom
  3. In a bit of a hurry, so skipping comments for now. Title: I Work Alone (Part 3) Prompt: Seven Deadly Sins- Pride Characters: Ketturah Atridies (Bounty Hunter) Length: 1,500 words Spoilers: None Warning: Some mild innuendo in this one
  4. Glad everyone likes Ketturah! @Feldraeth- yeah, Ketturah got started pretty young (she was actually fifteen, although that first bounty was a bit of an accident). I'm not sure if I pushed it too far with the age (and the older I get, the more sure I am, lol), but the idea is to have her be about 18 when she starts the Great Hunt. Hearing that story you mentioned reminds me that Ketturah was actually a bit of a self-insert on my part. Then, character development happened and now apart from sharing the same vague physical descriptors, I don't think we could be more different. Comments: Sorry for the kind of rambling comments, it's been a bit of a weird day around here...
  5. Very sorry it took me so long to update, writing has been a bear lately and I had to drop to preferred for a while (nothing serious at all, just decided to spend my sub money on Christmas presents for my friends instead) Part 73: The Pit
  6. Here I am, with the second part of Ketturah's Dantooine adventure! Title: I Work Alone (Part 2) Prompt: Seven Deadly Sins- Pride Characters: Ketturah Attridies (Bounty Hunter) Length: 1,200 words Spoilers: None
  7. @Alaurin- I checked over the index. Most of it looks good, but One Year in Two should be between History and Wire. Sorry if I forgot to mention that, and thank you so much for maintaining the index! Comments!
  8. @Frauzet- Nice to see you here again! Sorry, KotFE spoilers, so I won't ready your story. Well, I had grand visions of doing a seven deadly sins bit for all my characters, but I realized that not only is it difficult to quickly demonstrate that sort of thing, but I'd end up with like three of some sins and none of others- nobody has Lust or gluttony as their main sin, for example, but I'd end up with I think four Prides. Also, a couple of characters' flaws have been demonstrated already, so I think doing it again would be redundant. I think anyone who ready She Who Battles Monsters can probably tell Kiarn struggles with her pride. Interestingly enough, despite being the future Emperor's Wrath, Karanni's sin is actually Envy. Anyway, here's a (hopefully not too) ambitious multi-parter instead! Title: I Work Alone (Part 1) Prompt: Seven Deadly Sins: Pride Characters: Ketturah Attridies (Bounty Hunter) Length: 1,200 words Spoilers: None Index after First Blood, but before Opportunity Knocks Notes:
  9. Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you're having fun and staying safe. @Feldraeth- Thank you for the encouragement! And I'm fairly sure Bryyn is going to be Cypher 9, although there's still a remote possibility that a different person might do it, or they might end up splitting it a bit. We'll see. Comments:
  10. Normally, I just wait until I'm ready to post the next installment to respond to commments on my writing, but I decided that it couldn't wait this time. @bright- well, there is at least one person who will mourn him... @rike- exactally @saywhatnow- I just wanted you to know that your comment made my entire day, I probably smiled for a good ten minutes Thank you so much, and glad you're enjoying the story!
  11. Merry Christmas, everyone! I suppose I should have themed this update somehow, but I write my stuff several days to a week before posting it and had no idea it would go up today. So no Christmas, just Sith. I did get a Star Wars T-shirt, though! Part 71: The Major's Son Note:
  12. Looks like nothing to comment on today Anyway, I have another story ready, so here ya'll go. Enjoy! Title: Giving it Everything Prompt: Tools of the Trade Characters: Bryyn Harkness (Imperial Agent) Length: 650 words Spoilers: None Contains mentions of a bit of general nastiness. Nothing explicit, but might cause problems for some people. Index before the other story featuring Bryyn I've posted. Note:
  13. @bright- Exactly right on both counts. @frauzet- Also exactly right, although I feel like someday she's going to be forced to figure out what she would say, and I'm not convinced she'll be happy with it. Part 70: A Compromise of Wills
  14. And now here's my story but first: @Toatokua- I like the backstory you're establishing here. It's a connection for Warrior and Inquisitor that makes a lot of sense. If I had to offer some advice, I'd proofread it one more time, there were a lot of typos. Here's more angst this time, as Mird's own sadness continues. Title: One Year in Two Prompt: Seasons Characters: Eyrie Lancaster (Jedi Knight), Orgus Din, Kira Carson, Bela Kiwiks, Feyte Saien (Jedi Consular) Length: 2,600 words Spoilers: Jedi Knight Act I Spring Summer Autumn Winter Notes:
  15. First off, welcome back, Yoshi! Good to see you again @Almostinsane- Thank you! I'm so glad you liked the story and yeah, that section seems tailor-made for fan fic writers who feel like darkness/angst Comments
  16. It's great to hear from you, Avatar, and I'm glad you're still liking the story! Kiarn's actually rounding a bit, she's five feet even, but that's still pretty short. Even shorter than me, lol. Part 69: Goal Note:
  17. Well, it looks like everything that people have posted since I last did has KotFE spoilers, so I'm going to have to post my story with no comments prior. Sorry everyone! Title: Failure Prompt: Loneliness and Solitude Characters: Eyrie Lancaster (Jedi Knight) Length: 300 words Spoilers: References to the end of Jedi Knight Act II WARNING: I'm not entirely sure what to warn of in this story, but I guess I'll just say that Eyrie is in an extremely dark place during this story and it could be a problem for some people. Please see author's note. Author's Note:
  18. And I have once again managed an update! Uggh, I feel terrible about having such long gaps between installments, but school comes first right now. Part 68: Infiltration
  19. Comments, first: Drumroll please..... It's the last piece of the Jess and Mallena three-parter! I finally finished it, and I'm done with my midterms to boot! Since it's been such a long time since the first two parts will posted, I'll note that the first part is here and the second is here. Title: The Face Merchants, pt 3 Prompt: Worlds Colliding Characters: Mallena Dayne (Trooper), Jessasi Silver (Smuggler), Aric Jorgan, Corso Riggs Length: 1,000 words Spoilers: Same Coruscant trooper and planetary spoilers as the first two parts
  20. @Feldraeth- glad you liked my story! Comments:
  21. Thanks, guys! Having your character magically able to solve every problem that comes their way is the fastest route to Mary Sue-dom and conflict-free plots that I know of. Besides, there's no reasonable way that Kiarn would have much computer experience. Heck, for a while I debated whether she would know how to read or write, although I eventually decided she does. Part 67: Interview with Bessiker Note:
  22. So I'm taking a bit of a break from Mallena and Jess this week. The inspiration just wasn't flowing for the second part so I decided to do something else instead. My next post should continue (finish off? Not sure) that little arc. Title: Cooking up Conversation Prompt: Food Characters: Eyrie Lancaster (Jedi Knight), Feyte Saien (Jedi Consular) Length: 650 words Spoilers: Reference to end of Jedi Knight Act I Index after Wire Author's Note:
  23. I am here, all moved back into school and trying to keep my head above the homework waterline. I have the feeling it's going to be a rather sparse semester for story writing. But have some comments. @Divi- A strill is a six-legged Mandalorian hunting animal. Mird was the name of one owned by a character in the Republic Commando series of novels, which I enjoyed. Thought it was a nice SW reference without being obvious or having to come up with the fifteenth iteration of "Luke Skywalker" @Charmseed- He's adorable! Congrats on baby Ben, and glad you enjoy being a mother. Looking forward to seeing you back, but no pressure
  24. Thanks! And I'm glad you can post I feel like I should have Kiarn kill some Jedi in this installment, but unfortunately we're not that far yet... Part 66: Journey into the Nest
