  1. I'de rather gain datacron perks for each charactor individualy,I like the feeling of recieving the extra points as I level up a charactor.everytime it feels like a reward.

Reduceing it to a one time only event for all charactors actualy robs the player of gameplay.

"Here you go Extra +10 of everything" as soon as you create a new charactor reduces the value of gaining the datacron perks by 100%.It removes a goal/reward concept completely.

  2. Every mmo has repetition if you create more than 1 charactor.

swtor deviates from the repetition with different companions and class stories.

I liked createing a bunch of charactors in guildwars 1 even though it was the same exact path in game for every class.

I do agree quests repeat themselves but,In beta i had a bounty hunter, all my current are republic i cant wait to make my bounty hunter, different companions/personalities ect

I hated making 1 charactor in Wow uninstalled vanilla wow way back and forgot that headachey cartoon grind.

Rift had 2 starter areas but every class had the exact same path, quests ect per faction.no companions to interact with or companion quests or diologues.

you choose mmo-you choose class- and do exactly the same thing in other mmos ,swtor at least deviates from standard.

  3. As a counterpoint, here is a list of why I think SWTOR IS successful:

    • Entertaining (& often comedic) voice acted player/questgiver dialogue.
    • Interactive quest/plot decision trees that help shape my character's story and companion roster. (I could not care less whether or not my character's story has an effect on someone else's story or the world at large's story.)
    • Gearing up an evolving stable of combat-ready crafting companions - EVERY CHARACTER HAS THEM.
    • The challenge of advancing through level-appropriate 4 player group content with 2 players + companions, or 8 player story mode content with 4 players + companions.
    • Fun & balanced heroics & flashpoints.
    • Huttball (reminds me of Unreal Tournament matches.)
    • Bioware listens: 1.2's customizable UI (BW hit a home run with this one.)
    • Legacy perks & unlocks (just wish the Heroic Moment CD was shorter.)
    • Orange custom gear that is upgradeable through level 50 HMs.
    • Old school tanking mechanics (gimmie 1 taunt, 1 aggro bomb, 1 stun, 1 CC breaker & 1 interrupt and I'll do the rest.)
    • 2 new FPs and a 3x expansion of Karagga's.
    • Bioware listens: Groupfinder
    • Bioware listens: RWZs
    • Bioware fixes stuff.

I think the water army is back from their coffee and smoke break.

Lots of good points ,expect someone to pop in with a glass half empty rather than half full to spew all over the place though.

  4. When it comes to me, the only opinion that matters is mine. Swtor is successful. The others are not. Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. Is it more fun? Hell yes. That is all.

Dont mention Fun in General Discussion,Its a myth and a long forgotton concept for most.

  5. Conclusion: This game will be picked apart to death in the forums.

Just like the other MMO forums...developers are left with no recourse but to let the threads blow up and die out, There will always be unhappy people that will be so Chronicaly nit picky that the game is no longer fun for them because the concept of a glass being have full is a fleeting thought. Its tunnel vision and a mob mentality, meaning generaly outside of being in a mob you wouldn't heave so many rocks , bottles and other debri at other people.

I have seen action taken to improve and try to please the community, but everytime, the community lashes out in dissaproval or really enjoy the patches and updates.

Fluff? maybe some of that fluff was on the backburner due to the voice over process to give players something new and more emersive and to create stories that are more alive rather than a silent npc along with a text window..

There is plenty of places to upgrade and utilize areas in the game for future content.

Casinos, Cantinas, the future may hold more fluff in those locations down the road, thats an assumption, not an expectation or fact.

Let the game evolve, they do open threads for the zillion questions the community has , although it seems impossable to please everyone with an answer to all those questions.

  6. Why swtor is not succesfull

Because you cant sit in a chair?

You can If you use the Sit Emote, you can sit anywhere you want, just hit the X key, sit on a chair, on the bar, dance on the bar dance on your ship , take people on your ship, travel on your ship.

There could be a thread called :Why text only storyline mmos are not succesfull.

The author of the article wants to fluff around,Had no interest in all the class story lines and this mmo didnt suit his taste.

The Author:SWTOR puts up a good show with its cutscenes and class stories, and it was enough to keep me happy for a month or so after release.

So he followed every class story, played every class in a month.....I doubt it.

Point being made is the game wasnt for him and he is more about fluff than the actual gameplay and voiced class stories that alot of others are interested in.

  7. If there were no reward at all there would be no conspiracy theories about persuasion or manipulation.

I dont really base my subscription on in game reward items,I just play games I like.

Doesn't mean I dont appreciate this stuff, And I'm not about to make myself miserable and try to dislike the ingame rewards.

I'll take it and appreciate it,theres nothing wrong with the rewards and is not an evil conspiracy.

If it encourages transfers thats fine,Its not brainwashing or manipulation or a plan to remove your innerbeing and reduce you to an empty husk or an abused pork rinde, those who wish to transfer will get the reward,Many people are glad they transfered, are on a populated server and needed no encouragement.

  8. Just like in 1.2 giving out a free month, they are trying to keep people subscribing that is all, lol.

I know, seems kind of senseless to create a subscription game and then try to keep those subscribers.

Like if i wanted to win a foot race I would tie my shoe laces together and break both my knees with a hammer. No idea why anyone would try be succesful at anything.....kinda dumb.

  9.

You refusing to use facebook or twitter is on par with the people who don't spend half their day on these forums or hovering over the dev's like a bunch of crack addicts looking for a fix. The information is there in multiple mediums for those who actually want to know or communicate.

    Best response yet.

  10. patch to fix a patch which fixed a patch and so on and so forth

    more bw fail

Well every game does that even some single player games have to follow up with a fix for a recent patch.Ide think more so with online mmos.

  11. People are, in general, too sensitive and I've had a couple of incidents where people, based on nothing but a misunderstanding, have blocked me. Here's an example from yesterday.

*me asking a question in General*

    *some guy misinterprets the question*

*guy who obviously can't grasp a simple question whispers me*

    Conversation follows:

Other guy - Hey, where are you so I can help you?

Me - Help me? Help me with what? I wasnt aware that I had a problem.

How els what I was I going to reply? Was it offensive that I asked him what he wanted to help me with?

Other guy - Well be a ******* then *puts me on ignore*

    What happened?

    Another example:

On iIlum collecting armaments back in the day. The place is empty but for a player on the other faction. We're not attacking eachother since it would be a waste of time.

*guy on my faction shows up*

Me- I'm not going to help you if you attack that pub. We're just doing our own thing here.

*guy on my faction decides to attack the pub anyway*

*guy on my faction gets his *** kicked, twice*

Guy on my faction - ***, why didnt you help me?

Me -I told you that I wasnt going to help you.

Guy on my faction - You *********** *** **** *ignores me*

I had no intentions of replying to his obscenities but either way, it makes little to no sense that the person who calls people names is the one responsible for the ignoring.

Yikes! you ran into a Baby Bundy.

Just kidding....yeah text can be misleading sometimes and taken wrong or misread.

The second guy in your faction " why didnt you help me?" Is actually a funny idiot who deserved to get his butt kicked lol

  12. Thanks Cygnus for pointing that out, you are quite right - narcissism is reaching epidemic proportions today. I think our present culture has helped to reinforce narcissistic attitudes and therefore we all need to be on guard so that they we don't fall prey to it as well. In a driven, frenetic and hedonistic world - we all need to deliberately set time aside to self-reflect and to remember that yes I am special, but so is everyone else. <Gets off soapbox :) >

Ted Bundy's most commonly diagnosed personality disorder was Antisocial, and Narcissistic personality disorder.

Ok a bit over the top lol.

Some crappy behavioure can be simple frustration, immaturity (yeah even 30 or 40 year olds),A PvP loseing streak.Failing a mission several times.

    A simple bad mood.

There are plenty of high achievers in mmos that simply enjoy the goal of being good, but they also understand that others have not been able to invest the time they have,or others are in the midst of the learning curve, are open to errors and dont take it serious enough that they need to scold anyone,In fact more times than others they might give a few pointers if asked (not force their build on others).

We all want better gear,to be part of a winning team,to contribute to the group.

But there is something wrong with the person who decides to attack someone because they aren't as familiar with the game,or do not consider that others are going through a mission for their first time. They see others who may not be playing as well as a crippling factor to their road to greatness.

We should call them Baby Bundys LOL

  13. Narcissistic personality disorder.

Symptoms of this disorder include, but are not limited to:

May take advantage of others to reach their own goals

Tends to exaggerate their own importance, achievements, and talents

Imagines unrealistic fantasies of success, beauty, power, intelligence, or romance

Requires constant attention and positive reinforcement from others

    Easily becomes jealous

Lacks empathy and disregards the feelings of others

    Obsessed with oneself

    Mainly pursues selfish goals

    Trouble keeping healthy relationships

    Is easily hurt and rejected

    Sets unrealistic goals

    Wants "the best" of everything

    Appears as tough-minded or unemotional

    Scarey

  14. Ok, thank you. What would you recommend?

    This depends on your budget.

    Recommend

    *CPU-quadcore

*Vidcard -Nvidea with at least 1GB video ram

*Power supply-at least 650 watts (Vidcards have minimium wattage requirements,Higher your power supply wattage more likely youle be able to upgrade vid card later on.

*Memmory or Ram-At least 4 to 8 GB

*Hard drive is optional most people need at least 1 terabyte to fit all their games on the HD.

Look over gaming PCs prebuilt that are intended as Gameing PCs

It will depend on your budget.

Maybe others can recommend PC gaming machines.

    like :

Ibuy Power , or Velocity Micro, there are alot of pc companys dedicated to gaming machines specificaly .

From Casual gaming rigs to High end beasts, do alot of research if you make an investment,so that you choose a system that will handle the new hardware requirements in the future (thats something that never seem to end lol.)

  15. We wiped once (maybe twice) and someone quit. So we hit the 'looking for replacement' button, and when we got a replacement we had to start the WHOLE instance over. Whatever, so we started the whole instance over, someone quit halfway through. So we tried to finish with three and a Companion, but had trouble on the boss, someone else quit, and it was late so I said screw it and logged off too.

    .

I doubt who ever is "the replacement" wants to join a Flashpoint Halfway.

It would not make sense to be looking for a group and land halfway into the flash point.

I remember in guild wars if a monk quit,or disconnected you start from scratch.

At least If someone disconnects you can at least wait a few minutes until the disconnected reconnect and they appear back in your group within the mission .

  16. If I understand this right, The LFG tools purpose is to find you a group, offer a teleport to the destination.

I'm just wondering where the expectation came that it would conveniently put you back on the planet where you were questing came from?

I mean c'mon Its intent is to find you a group,Its convenient the tool offers a TP to the destination , but isnt the expectation of plopping you back from where you came a bit much?

I suspect the new tool will be a bit buggy on release and there will be a few patches to fine tune things....seems normal with any big changes or patches or updates in mmo's and single player games.

Its a mixed bag of reponses.

Some complaints might be due to some bugs.

Some have a perfect experience useing the tool.

Some expect the tool to fix the people that end up in the group....complaining about who and what type of person ends up in your group is an unrealistic complaint.

Are they suppose to add a psychological screening button to the LFG tool?
