  1. So you think there is nothing wrong with people huddle at the emergency fleet pass like some kind of sick flash mob in order to "participate"? (by going afk mostly) Sorry, that was a side effect of this they didn't anticipate and shows how events like this can spawn "abuse" that some will find distasteful. As for those who cry out against the event and mention an event in the "game that shall not be named", don't. I was there and that event allowed open PVP by getting infected, allowing greifing of not only every NPC (flight points, auction house and bank) but also ganking of spawn points where people were rolling brand new characters. Permitting the killing of a new lvl 1 character goes behind stupid and this event doesn't even come up to that level. One legitimate gripe I've heard is the impact on PVP for this. I could see having your Hutt Ball carrier explode would be intrusive in the game you are trying to play. My experience is, the only time I've even seen infected people is when I used the emergency fleet pass. I ran out of the crowd (as fast as lag would permit me) and wasn't infected. At no other time have I seen anyone else infected in hours of play and it has in no way hampered my ability to play. Frankly I wonder what the others who say they are impacted have been doing. Instead of fleet pass, just use your ship, sure its a few more minutes but guess what, you miss the crowd of afk'ers. Besides, why do you need to go to the fleet? They tell you to avoid "heavily populated areas don't they? Frankly both sides make me want to quit the game, there is no reason for the whining and there is no reason to bash the whiners. I'm pretty disgusted with this community at the moment.
  2. I saw this thread when it was on its second extension. So I logged in to my lvl 40 character on Hoth - played for two hours. Didn't see anyone infected, no one tried to infect me. Of course there were only 8 people on the planet, I didn't see anyone! So I logged to a lvl 15 character on Corresent, plenty of people running around, doing the auction house and quests. Never got infected, didn't see anyone who was infected or anyone complaining in chat. Just saying, it seems like people who want to avoid the plague could do it pretty easy. My experience has been I'd have to go out of my way and stop questing to get infected.
  3. MMO players include jerks who ruin it for all http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4063007781 MMO players include greedy people who want and want http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4062877237 MMO players include people who cheat to win http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1074378050 So don't blame the people who write the games, the players are the problem and that forces them to make the games the way they are. If a MMO that's been around for 7+ years still has issues with players abusing the system, do you expect a brand new MMO to do better?
  4. Because people will pull things like this http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4038616848
  5. Lets look at a bit more of the earnings statement, anything can cause confusion when taken out of context. Here is what I read in the link ---------------------- --Star Wars: The Old Republic Has More Than 1.7 Million Active Subscribers Electronic Arts Inc. /quotes/zigman/71356/quotes/nls/ea EA +4.61% today announced preliminary financial results for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2011. ---------------------- So they state this is the results for the end of the year, December 31st, 2011. At that time they had 1.7 million active subscribers. They would not put in numbers for another time period because that will be for the next earnings statement at the end of the first quarter. If it didn't happen by Dec 31st you have to say things like "projected" or "anticipated" to differentiate the numbers from the facts you are reporting in the earnings statement. They don't say they have 1.7 million as of the time they released their statement, I don't know who tossed in the word "current" but all a company can do is report point in time information. IE as of this date, this is what we have sold and how many are subscribed. That date was December 31st. Given that, 1.7 million out of 2 million means most people had to have a subscription in order to play their 30 days "free" and had not cancled that subscription before Dec 31st. This gives us no information on how many are still subscribed after the 30 days were up or are subscribed today, or even how many are still playing today.
  6. Did you link a new profile to the exe for swtor? Make sure you linked the game exe and not the launcher exe. I did that and have had no issues with my G13 since I set it up.
  7. That bucket of bolts and bad programming called my crew FAT! Tearing out his voice box is the least we should be able to do!
  8. Are you by chance a smuggler? Seems like the smuggler screens cause all kinds of problems with the "cannot see target" and well as other issues As for the stuck companion, usually I have to cross the doorway, dismiss them and resummon them on the other side if they won't cross over. Its like there is a barrier there for the companion.
  9. I was tempted to post it in the smuggler section, in the bug reports and general - but figured I'd get in trouble for spamming Thanks for confirming it is a problem!
  10. Thanks, glad to know I wasn't the only one having issues with that quest instance. I think it shows the lack of beta testing on the high end content to ensure it was bug free and tuned correctly for all players. I was actually lucky enough to get to the escape pod and activate it, so saw the final cinematic. That was fun to see at least. Still, what it took to get to that point was painful to say the least.
  11. What should have been an exciting climax to my smuggler class quest line was instead an exercise in frustration as I attempted to complete it and had issue after issue with "Cannot see target" as I attempted to complete this quest. I submitted an in game ticket for this to ensure it was brought to Biowares attention. There is nothing they can do for me, I was able to complete it, but I hope they can fix it before others have to suffer through this. If any other smugglers have had issues with this quest, please speak up. If you didn't have such issues, I'm happy for you and glad you didn't get the bug fest I ran into.

    King Hutt

Common, you looked at my post! At least say Hi!

    King Hutt

To address the issue with Faction imbalance in Ilum I suggest the following: Limit equal numbers of each faction into Ilum at any one time Limit the time anyone can spend in Ilum if they are part of the faction with more people waiting to get in Queue up the faction that has more people waiting and offer them the option to play a new game called King Hutt while they wait to get into Ilum or do other quests/pvp while they wait for Ilum to open up. King Hutt: New game that is an all out free-for all. Sort of a cross betweek King of the Hill and a wrestling "King of the Ring" The game starts with 10 players on top of a piller, with no guard rails on it. The goal is to be the last person standing on the pillar at the end. Last person standing gets some random prize for being the King Hutt. Valor points awarded for each "kill" actually killing an opponent or blowing them off the pillar counts as a kill.
  14. I was hoping this was a rant against the Elevator Mob's that result in many deaths and wasting of time and hope the Dev's would be kind and remove them from the game.
  15. Server Forum's is a great idea! One additional request to make it even better Have seperate ones for Republic and Empire
  16. You mean something like Skyrim? I blame it on WOW basically saying "its all about the end game, lets help you rush to max level to do end game content because the rest of the game is just a time sink to keep you from getting to end game where the action is" Any more there are those who don't care about the story line, all they want to do is show off they "beat the game before you", flexing their virtual purple pixels thinking they have done something special (just how special I leave to each person's opinion I did have to check out the math 14 days played (across two characters) 6 days early access and 28 days post release = 9 hrs 52.94 minutes a day logged into the game on average Most jobs people only put in 40 hours a week, this guy put in close to 70. Call it working two full time jobs as his "hobby" in order to do what he did. Kinda scary there are people like that out there with this much idle time on their hands, glad they have MMO's to keep them busy...quick, someone make more content for them! (think I just scared myself)
  17. Check out http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=159167 Some good details about the issue and possible ways Bioware could fix it (like other MMO's have done) It would be nice if Bioware would post a statement about this issue. Bug or working as intended? I plan to file a bug report if I can document a time and a place it happens.
  18. More than a few posts on this topic. Why is there no formal "this is a bug, we will fix it" or "working as intended" response 30 days is up tomorrow, hate to see people leave just because a few people enjoy interfering with the way others want to play and Bioware won't give us a response to let us know about it. People will have to think either Bioware doesn't care or this is what they want to have happen.
  19. It's a race track for speeders! Let have some races around the circle!
  20. Seriously, you've beaten all the content you want to enjoy from the game. That means you won. Time to find a new conquest. Any MMO is just that, you put in x amount of time and effort and you "win" because you've done everything you want to. Others will play different amounts at different speeds Some will want to craft and get all the patterns to make things. Some will want to enjoy the story, from many different viewpoints (different class story lines and even the different sides - Republic and Empire) Some just want to get on line and do stuff with freinds and have a good time. It doesn't matter what they do as long as they do it with their freinds. Some people even RP to have fun! If you have done what you wanted, congrats - you did it before you had to pay for your subscription and can quit. Come back in six months and I'm sure you can catch up and pass everyone who has been playing the full time, then quit again after a month. It's your time and money spent, do what you like. Want a cookie with that? Have a great day.
  21. Player is reporting an issue he see's with bot's farming credits and is reporting the lack of action against said bot. Why flame the person reporting the issue? We need people to call out problems in the game for it to get better and not flame them for reporting problems. Don't blame others for what they report they saw. Even if they report something in error or make a mistake we are all human. In this case the player is reporting a known exploit and the lack of response to address said exploit. That is important for everyone to know as it reflects on the quality of the game. If someone makes a mistake, prompt them with a "are you sure, because what I understand is this....and give the facts others can substatiate" This is why we can't have good MMO's people don't know how to be nice on the internet.
  22. This needs to be fixed, if it is "working as intended" they need to change their description of PVE servers to match the current reality. 1. AOE hitting a flagged PVP enemy should not trigger your PVP flag, it should do no damage (not register) if the enemy player is in your aoe. 2. Healing a freindly PVP flagged player should not be possible without flagging for PVP or popping up a warning - this will flag you for PVP, continue Y/N? 3. Raising a dead player who is flagged for PVP, needs a warning and an option to flag for PVP or cancel the spell. 4. Targeting and casting a damaging spell on an enemy PVP flagged player should require you to flag first, so the enemy can see you are now ready to PVP. Not forcing this allows an unflagged player the advantage of "shoot first" and has other side effects. This is important because of the "challenge/duel situation" (unflagged enemy challenges you to a duel, you start combat, he flags for PVP, you get flagged for PVP and suddenly his 5 buddies jump and gank you (who were not flagged for PVP) These are basic rules needed for a PVE server to prevent PVP griefing. I've seen it myself on a pve-rp server. For those who think this is ok and just a "clever use of mechanic's" I feel sorry for you. In real life if you treat others this way, you will reap what you sow. This isn't the only reason I've canceled my sub, too many bugs and frustration with some of the quests were major contributors. The game is immersive and fun to play for the story line, but the mechanical issues with the game rob me of the fun. Hard to enjoy the story line when every time you do a quest you are faced with play issues.
  23. Thanks for the reply, good to know. Seems like some of the bosses are easier with some classes/pets than others. As a smuggler / gunslinger I'm finding it tough with any melee type of boss just because our best attacks are based on crouching in place, so kiting lowers my DPS - I may still have to consider it in these cases I guess.
  24. So people say to kite him, when as a smuggler/saboture most of my attacks are based on crouching in place. Nice design by Bioware to gimp our primary attacks. What level were most of you when you did this fight?
  25. Anyone else finding the fights against the various bosses on Voss more than a tad difficult to pull off as a gunslinger? Did you find you had to gear up/level up to take them (like get to 47 and use gear from commendations to take them?)
