  1. I don't really understand what they mean by fixing the holodancer. Since now when you use it it just spawns an NPC that stands still and it does not look like a hologram at all. It is more like a duct tape patch on a broken pipe.
  2. Indeed shadows seem to kill game performance. Check this outhttp://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=322217
  3. There are already some threads on Fps issues and game performance. I want to start this new thread to clarify the situation a bit and also provide game performance data along with P.C gear and GPU and game settings. If you also want to post on this thread please don't forget to include the following. -Your basic P.C components(processor,VGA,memory, main hard drive and sound card if applicable) -The game settings you use. -The 3d settings of your VGA you use for the game -The in game location where you took the readings. This is very important since planets and locations with dense vegetation will really put your system to the test. On my tests I always have a minimum of 4xAA enabled as a red line for modern P.C gaming. It is not much but anything bellow this setting really makes games look like crap. I took this readings from Alderaan at the Juran mountains territory. I used FRAPS Always make sure you got the latest drivers for your card. P.C: 1900x1200 4xAA 16AF All settings High Trees and grass 100% Bloom V sync off(I always have this on but I turned it off for the tests) GPU settings: With the above game settings in an area surrounded by trees and dense vegetation I could max 33fps and get as low as 17 fps(I took these readings while I was moving on my speeder. When I'm on foot I get a 10fps rise in both max and min frame rate but still the game is not running smooth). The game is playable but far from smooth. Now when I set shadows to low I had about 100 fps!! max and in no case I dropped below 60 fps.In more open areas of the map the situation is improved and you can see about +/- 60 fps steady, even with the shadows set to High.I've tried lowering other options too but nothing was even close to affecting performance to the magnitude of shadows.(2-3 fps gain not worth given the lower quality). It seems that the shadows are sucking the power out of my P.C in a way that only a few badly optimized DX10 games do.But in those cases we are also talking about jaw dropping high end graphics and although SWtor has a beautiful art style I can't say it's graphics are of the highest level. It seems there is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to shadows and the effect they got on game performance.
  4. Get to any water covered area. And then either use jump or tilt your camera upwards and you'll see that the water surface disappears from the screen and it looks like you are standing on dry land. I 1st noticed this when I fought the Alderaan world boss. It is standing in a small river and it has a knock back ability.Every time I got knocked back I could see that the water disappeared and the same happened when I tilted my camera up so I could see the boss. This needs fixing asap cause it really gives a low quality and unfinished game impression.
  5. Seriously If there is one thing that this game has nailed and does better that all it's current competitors is the single player quests and side quests.:confused::confused::confused: It is natural to be bored of the side quest design given the variety and imaginative side quests of all the other current mmos. WoW?you never get to do repeatable stuff.Every side quest is a new adventure. Rift?as above Any other mmo?as above But the best there ever was and will be if I might say was Hello Kitty. You just can't beat that.
  6. I guess the title of this thread is way better by BW standards so they closed the one we were posting before. So to sum it up... All servers are ok. There are no population problems. Everything is great. Take your time. Is this fanboy enough for the fanboys? I can do better. This is the best game there has ever been. All the servers are highly populated and there just isn't enough servers to cover the demand from the billions of players out there. bzzzzzzzzzzz. Dear player.Server population is growing. It just isn't your server:eek::eek::eek:
  7. Evil Jedi...ok So and so I guess. But good Sith????what is this???Hello Kitty?
  8. lol.I quoted a previous post when I wrote this.look at my original post plz. and then look at the post I quoted.
  9. And my server is light populated. Where does that get us? You win? There are some light populated servers that need to be boosted either by merging or by server transferring cause it is really a shame to play SWTOR on a server that looks empty.
  10. Open world PvP does suck.(worst PvP I've ever seen) There are Fps issues especially for a DX9 based MMO with PS3 textures and shadows. Trolls do damage but fanboys also do damage. The whole SWTOR universe is not your healthy polulated server if you are on one. There are also really lightly populated servers. And players might also leave the game because of that. So mentioning the problem is not trolling
  11. 1.Companion "mission accomplished" pop ups 2.Bugs 3.Companion "mission accomplished" pop ups Did I mention companion "mission accomplished" pop ups?
  12. lol. Maybe your spaceship needs upgrades. But space combat is so easy really.
  13. Certainly the game is not dying. Especially US servers seem to be alright. But on my EU light populated server(Ludo Kressh) it feels there are less players playing this game that Warhammer.Lolz The truth is that there are also servers mainly in the EU side with light population 24/7 and given the instanced nature of the game it gives players the impression they are empty. After the Australia launch they will have to address this problem either by merging servers or by allowing server transfers.
  14. SWTOR is the most demanding and blood suckin' DX9 game on this side of the galaxy. There is only a couple of games that drain the life out of my PC and this is one of them.
  15. Oh..sorry I was not talking about money. My comment was made from a gamers point of view. Although my guess is that GW2 will have a a lot more players to invest in the game than SWTOR. It is just a different model of charging money but overall I guess that the money per year needed to play the full content of the game will be the same.
  16. This is not a game to love or hate. It is just another attempt to make an old school MMO. It certainly is interesting enough to play for 6 months. After that I don't see how this can compete in anyway with GW2. This is the year of the dragon after all. P.S..MMOs need love. Stock holders need money.
  17. +100 But I guess an increase to the detail bubble would make the game even more demanding for PC force.
  18. +1 for inc cross server warzones.
