  1. Honestly, I think it's rewarding enough to catch a smug stealther with his pants down.
  2. As above, you're losing out on stats, and some abilities require two blaster pistols. This is annoying because it's freaking pricey to give her tier weapons. You have to buy a Sniper rifle and rip out all the mods.
  3. Hmm, Rodians don't speak Basic. That'd be annoying. Make it a Mon Calamari, and you'd have a deal, though! A Mon Cal Trooper or Jedi Knight would be awesome. Bounty Hunter would be nuts and even more awesome.
  4. Yeah, I think he'd go really well with a psychopath BH who mostly chose the Empire as his client because he likes wanton destruction. However, my neutral-to-light BH was just like, "You are a psycho, I feel dirty just talking to you, and I would not for one second turn my back on you." And then invited him to her ship. o_O
  5. I can't remember the finer details, but essentially, you want revenge on the dude that killed all those cohorts of yours at the end of Act 2 and who wants you dead. The Sith for whom you are working also wants your target dead. So, the hits he sends you out on are a way of weakening that person, ferreting out details, and getting to kill him. You're basically letting the Empire use you because it's accomplishing a personal goal as well. The interesting bit is that your target has been breaking all kinds of rules and is in general a Very Bad Good Guy, which is why you've been pushed to the level of Republic's Most Wanted without necessarily warranting it. You can't rest until this guy's dead, because the price on your head is too high.
  6. If you want Groupfinder to be a "Find Flashpoint Now" button, go Jugg and spec tank. I mean, it might differ some from server to server (I'm on Prophecy of the Five), but dps always has the hardest time getting groups of anyone. Tanks are literally the rate-limiting step on my server when it comes to Hardmodes; it's awesome for my fresh-ish 50 Jugg!
  7. You guys, I think this thread was supposed to be for us to think up outlandish items that probably won't be sold, not to critique the OP's mostly-joking post. Somewhat realistic theories: -Character transfers, frickin' PLEASE -A token that gives you, say, 15 minutes to move around any and all mods you want without paying in-game credits Outlandish theories: -Non-mechanical mounts. Dewbacks! --Visual alignment lock. Love the amber eyes of Dark I but not the zombie look of Dark IV, your actual alignment? Dial your face back and lock it to I! -Trash skip. Who else detests Kaon Under Siege? Can't just be me.
  8. Yes. What wonderful sociopath logic you have there. "If you want to actually take the groceries you bought home, put them in your car faster. It's just a shame that bad design makes it like a race. It's not that I don't care about others, just that they're foolish enough not to sprint to their vehicle and dump the cart into their trunk before I run by and lift their Cheerios-and-cookies bag." Yeeaaah, 'cause no one's ever doing quests while in a queue of some kind that makes it so they may have to leave at any second. Anyway, OP and others, I suggest public shaming. Someone ninjas your node? Tell everyone in General about it. The ninja will either be shameful and silent, argue and prove themselves to be jerks to everyone in General, or send you hilarious, butthurt pms that you can block when you get bored.
  9. Ha, well, too late now. XD I'm level 50 and am working on my gear so I can do Ops. Sure would have been nice to have dual spec for the reasons you mentioned, but my consolation is how gloriously quick it is for me to get a Groupfinder Queue to pop. Tanks are the rate-limiting step on my server.
  10. Sidenote: If anyone is trying to run away as an Arsenal merc, stop. It won't work, and that's not where your strength lies. You're better off standing there and just dishing out as much as you can in a dps race, knocking back or stunning when possible. Your only chance of escaping is if there's a pit you can jump into where your foe can't be bothered to follow, at which point you've probably made yourself useless anyway. Meanwhile, you might be surprised what you can do if you stop panicking and unload like a beast, throwing in a Power Surge->Rapid Scan to prolong the fight or Power Surge->Tracer Missile to make the enemy cry. You might be able to step behind a corner and heal or LOS a sniper who's at a distance (if you can find him -_- ), but that's it. You can occasionally do the pillar dance, but I've never seen a single merc or commando that can match a sorceror for effective pillar-humping. Might just be me, though, so share if you've got some sweet strategies in that area.
  11. I'm glad this isn't just me. My first character was a Mercenary, and I did H2s on her all the time (namely outdoor ones), with Mako at her side. Imagine my surprise when I started leveling an Immortal Jugg and just failed spectacularly at H2s. I didn't even attempt it again after the first several failures. The Jugg's lack of 1-min CC hurts, even if the Jugg isn't squishy like the Merc. Could be different at 50, of course, but I haven't tried it out.
  12. I have neutral and LS characters, so I'm not bound and determined to play a certain way, but I REALLY liked doing Dark Side SW. Just like a lot of things in this game, it depends on how you roleplay it, right? My jugg is a true Sith, a hardass, but not a psycho. Peace is a lie; there is only passion - of all kinds. She bonds to the point of sweetness with her crewmates, she'll make a deal with Repub troopers if it's expedient to her cause and not kill them (remember that quest?), and she will straight-up murder you if her cause demands it or you cross her, no second chances. She goads people to make them passionate, enraging enemies or encouraging her crewmates to seek revenge. There's something evilly fun about being the devil on people's shoulders. And the Jaesa thing? OP, I'm glad you enjoyed your path, and I can see its allure. But the Dark Side way was just so gloriously screwed up and unique that I freaking loved it. And now Jaesa's like my character's unstable little sister. I feel like George Clooney in From Dusk til Dawn.
  13. That's weird. I haven't done much level 50 stuff with her yet, but while leveling she and Vette seemed pretty equally beast.
  14. Or feel free to load up your bar, just be on top of your Vent Heat timing. I can float on the middle-to-upper end of the bar, shoot a heat free Heatseeker Missile with Thermosensor Override, Unload, pile on some Tracers, and then overheat juuust as Vent Heat is up. On a long, steady type of boss fight, that serves me well. On bursty fights, the strategy obviously differs!
  15. I use number 3, which is roughly equal to default in cuteness. It's just a bit more delicate, in my opinion. I have evil Jaesa rocking the face tattoos and weird black hair, though.
  16. The letters Malavai Quinn sent my Juggernaut at the end of the romance arc. Torian's proposal. Lots of the fun put-downs and insults characters can use in conversations. The music. I wish we could hear more of it in-game!
  17. Holy hell, everyone, why are you still subbed if you're THAT miserable? Way to bring down the thread. On topic, I wish I'd known that hitting escape during a conversation exits it, undoing all the negative affection a companion accrued. It would have made things a little smoother between Mako and my businesslike mercenary.
  18. That's funny; I had the opposite experience. I was so used to looking for obvious reticles on the ground, I couldn't figure out how Draahg was murdering me so fast. Not that I tried for long; I died so fast I felt like I had to look it up. XD Baras, though, I got on the first try. I saw him doing a loooong channel and was like, "Better interrupt whatever that is." Total cakewalk.
  19. I think it's left intentionally vague. Some of the draw of being a Bounty Hunter or Smuggler is the idea of being a free agent, after all. So, it can all depend on how you feel like roleplaying it until Act 3, when your hand is forced. In my case, my hunter is a true believer in Imperial efficiency, even if she chooses to serve outside its confines for a number of reasons. She was my ultimate "Do what I want" character and thus hit 50 at Light II. My priorities were, in order: Reputation, money, not being a jerk. I do see your point, but I also think the story as is works really well for characters like mine, homicidal maniac characters, and a few other archetypes, which is what Bioware was probably aiming for. I guess they figured that if a player wanted to shoot things for the Republic, they'd go Smuggler (for that free agent feel) or Trooper instead.
  20. You could eschew healing altogether, as well. A geared Gault or Torian does a lot of damage, so you could run with one of them and just burn everything down like crazy, only spot healing when things go pear-shaped. But anyway, when you try making your new build, use the online skill point calculators that the other commenter suggested and keep in mind that, at least in this game and with this advanced class, you want to have at least 31 points in your one main tree so that you get the 31-point talent at the very top. For PVE, that tree would most likely be Arsenal for damage dealing and Bodyguard for healing. Pyrotech is also a dps tree, but I actually don't see that a whole lot in PVE. Never tried it; can't comment beyond that. You can spread the remainder of your points around as you see fit, amongst any of the three trees. There's usually something useful in the bottom tier of each one. Experiment and, if you don't like a build, try something else. You get one free respec a week and as many paid ones as you can afford from the Skill Mentor, a Duros who hangs out in the northern, outer corner of the Combat Training section of the Fleet. Hybrid specs, where you have less than 31 points in all trees, might be good for soloing, but in group content, you really want to focus on a role and get that pretty 31-point talent.
  21. Despite the bizarre thread revival (what was the search criteria that revived this??), I think that's a cool as hell idea. I'd totally bet on pod races, even if my guild couldn't afford our own.
  22. I'm not about to demand them, but I, too, would really freaking love to see some paid transfers soon. I kind of miss my level 25 Shadow, but I see no point in playing her without all my nice Legacy benefits and the crafting/monetary support of my Imps. And I don't think I'll have time to level my baby Sentinel up much before this HK-51 thing drops. Was it stupid to start characters on two separate servers at launch because I assumed you couldn't have characters of both factions on one PVP server? Yes. I just want the opportunity to pay you to help me fix my mistake, Bioware.
  23. Good post, OP. These basic ideas of communication and courtesy as applied to MMOs are lost on some people, but hopefully more and more pick up on them over time.
  24. Wait, I have the five aoe and two spammable, but three used on the move? You can run and spam Missile Blast - and I do, often, to finish someone who's fleeing from me in PVP - but what's the other one? Fusion Missile, Sweeping Blasters, and Death from Above are all channeled, and SB is spammable. Incendiary Missile isn't channeled, but it does have a cooldown and isn't the most useful thing in our repertoire. This I very much agree with. Mostly in Huttball, I adore my knockbacks. When I play my Jugg, I really miss them. Force Push is so powerful as to be unwieldy, and I shy away from using it sometimes for fear that I'll, say, push the ball carrier closer to the goal instead of into the pit or fire.
  25. Correct. Female BT4 doesn't look like a muscled, stockier woman. As I said in the comment you quoted, she just has lots of T&A. Male BT4 is ripped and wide, with a bit of a belly.
