  1. I hate to disappoint you all, but Sorc shield will not be nerfed - for a simple reason, its team ability designed to be spammable on whole team. So its not "sorc" that benefits from the shield, healing sorc keeps the shield on all team mates at all times. Its cruicial PvE ability so it wont be nerfed 100%. Its designed to protect people in pve, and a shield barely can shield one attack on tank from the strong bosses - its 3k protection if specced into it, no more, thats it. People complaining about shield are delusionsl. At best, it would be made not default, but talented in healing tree (in same talent that reduces its cooldown and mana cost), so that pure DPS sorcs woudnt have it or would have to sacrafice something for it.
  2. While i cant agree with troopers (or BH) being OP - troopers are annoying as **** (troopers, not BHs) as it seems every second Republic player tends to play one. In opposite on Empire side every second one is Assassin/Sorc. Troopers are not OP, just easy to play. The annoyance comes not from facing them (they are actually easy targets), but by facing crowd consisting of troopers - since they have great CC and utility to keep each other alive, while nuking you down.
  3. Stop using basic attack of the class and use some ability instead? The shield , if talented blocks around 3k damage. Half the classes can hit for that much with single ability.

    Short answer - No. OP, l2p. A simple fact - melee focus on target brings any target down quicker than equal ranged ever will.
  5. Shadow is not difficult to play at all, however needs to know in what situations and how it should be used. What i find is most people using it completely wrong. Another aspect of him being that he can do 3 roles (well, actually more like 2, since need to spec into it) and change between them without really loosing something. He is outclassed as tanks by tanks, and outclassed as rogue by rogues. But ability to choose when you want to be a tank and when you want to be a rogue is superb.
  6. I just want to address the people always asking why you dont get anything for "world pvp". The reason is simple: exploiting. Warzones are controlled enviroment and you gets comms/valor for participating/winning in them. World PvP however is no such enviroment, and while rewarding honest kills would be great it all comes down to - if there will be commendations or other kind of relevant rewards from actual "killing" - people would exploit it by killing each other over and over (like they do now to gain valor...), thus exploiters gaining insane advantage over "honest" pvpers. What can adress this is two methods: 1) Diminishing returns - so that after 5th kill of a player you get nothing (still does not help much when whole guilds gather to resskill each other) 2) PvP death penalty - aka valor gain is dependant on valor level of enemy player, and if player dies he looses valor. So you will barely get any valor if any from alts of players that get killed constantly, and woudnt let your character get farmed, as it would mean substantial loss of valor for you. But that methods have its own disadvantages, since valor loss in pvp would mean many players only rolling out in zergs or not doing world pvp at all. So as it stands now, recieving substantional rewards for actually killing players - is unrealistic. Thats why the rewards are objective based, and in the future most likely will be as well.
  7. Healing implies multiple players. So lets say a situation is Enemy and his healer vs you and your friend. You cant kill them 2vs2? No chances? Them, plainly - you are bad. Oh wait, you meant you cant outdps healers target 2vs1 when you hit him while someone heals him? Then what is the complaint about?
  8. Sorry OP, but "faction" pvp is doomed by default. If you want real pvp play something like Darkfall and EVE. Faction should not be hard picked, but created and organised by the players themselves. Darkfall had better warfare than any of the listed game would ever have.
  9. I love OPs complaining they are the "weaker version of assassins". People obviously have no clue. Purely deception specked assassin is the worse version of Concealment OP - both in terms of damage and survivibility. The most "benefits" OPs claim assassins to have come from specking in other trees and at cost of damage. Maybe OPs would eventually discover they have other benefits and utility, just as sins - by realizing they have 2 other skill trees which offer them healing and sustained DPS.
  10. Love that logic. Simply love it. Used every single time some mechanic is encountered that out of line with the rest of pvp balance. The most prominent example in recent time would be AoC Guardians (highest armor lowest damage class) instakilling people with charge/low level overreach combo exploit - arguing its intended and people should just prepare for it, stack shields at the front, use bubles, play smart e.t.c. And about the same logic and wording repeats with EACH AND EVERY NERF FOR EVERY CLASS. Its amusing, it really is. Unbalanced mechanics are like ingame exploits - they are pretty obvious for any person with common sense. Its just those benefiting from them for some reason prefer to ignore the said "common sense" telling them theres something wrong, and instead blame devs, nubs, whiners when get the end of the stick.
  11. Surprise surprise, i got 5 classes i pvp regularly myself - Sorc, Sniper, Juggernaut, Powertech and Assassin. And guess what? I encountered many mechanics that could be considered "out of line" and might eventually get nerfed. I dont care however if any of my classes or my favorite gets nerfed. Its ok. Why do you? Operatives are just first in line for nerfs, and saying the nerf was unjustified is just a blind ignorange. As told in previous post - i cant respect any person that seriously each time argues nerfs in MMOs as if implying the combat balance is perfect from the start - its not. Sorry, but if i read "seriour pvper" complaining about his class being nerfed i cant help but laugh. I`ve seen million nerfs over the years, and each time the same song is sung by receiving side.
  12. Because he is a bad played, playing assassin even with full tank build and getting so little kills/damage is inexcusable. To get protection all you need is to press guard button and taunt occasional - thats all. As you notice enemy team has lot more kills and still won, making his "protection" useless. I got assassin myself and i got to say this is absolutely nothing spectacular (and those protection numbers arent superb either, a sorc just spamming shields on team mates can get that much without doing anything else)

TLDR: i am a player that before rolling in mmo reads forums to determine what class and build is the most OP and roll it, and when it gets nerfed roll the next FOTM class Its ok, nothing to be ashamed of. And min/maxing classes and builds helps to show what next needs to be adjusted or nerfed. There never is perfect balance in MMO. Only people complaining about changes are those who want to keep their advantage.

From a decades long experience in MMOs i got to say. 1) Nerfs are always justified. 2) When overnerfs happen, its still for the best of game balance. 3) Every class eventually gets nerfed. 4) Every nerfed class eventually gets a rewamp. 5) In the end, game becomes better because of circle of those changes. 6) People saying not to nerf or to buff instead have no clue. 7) Nerfs/rewamps never end. Live with it. I get absolutely no respect for people every time crying about nerfs in MMOs - it just shows they have little expirience with them or always were on a side exploiting the nerfed mechanic. Each MMO with PvP at release had so many things that needed to be nerfed (and were) looking back at it one wonders how it was possible to play with such gamebreaking mechanics at alll - each and every. SWTOR is not exception. Are you the kind of person that ragequits MMO because his class got nerfed? Good. It makes nerfs double as good - the class gets fixed, and obvious jerks and exploiters leave.
  15. Because Sniper is not a solo class. If you play one as such and rack top kills and damage in warzone - you still suck and contribute little to team. To be effective sniper have not just DPS people from 30m away but take down required targets quickly in needed situations, requiring him often to be on frontlines. He is very good at that, but to be effective at that he needs a support - as minimum some melee to run with, at best a guard and a healer. Thus limiting its use in pugs. Topping charts with DPS/kills as sniper is as useless as toppic chart with Sorc Dots. You did a lot of damage, you killed lot of people from a far - you but you werent really "playing a game". Operative is more popular from that point, since it allows player to choose any target and take it down - providing a feeling that you are on frontlines and control the flow of the game. Even more so for other classes that can just run in an pwn people - the feeling is better. Sniper is very powerful, but its not a class for solo player. Its great team tool, but no more. If choosing between sniper that plays solo in team and any other class, i would pick any other class. However if sniper is supported by the team... thats other question.

  17. Its amusing to watch how exploiters every time try to play it down and blame it on the flaws of game design. You reap what you saw. Everyone with a bit of common sense can realize when he encounters unintended mechanic and tell "stop" to himself. You couldn't. Too bad - you are the only one to blame.
  18. This sarcastic post reminds me of "nerf sorcs" threads. Any decent player would know snipers are not capable of the listed above and area pretty balanced class, yet when it comes to sorcs same generalizations are used to people for some reason turn their brain off. Please dont nerf sorcs! Its not our fault we heal like gods and dps like devils in same spec, have spammable buble that absorbs 666k damage, have double the CC of other classes, stealth and can instakill enemies from 35m away with lightbnings or in melee with Maul!
  19. You get medals not for "trowing out a guard" - but for absorbing the required amount of damage by that guard, thus already fulfilling your role and contributing to the team. Guarding 5k damage might mean you saved someone or turned the flow of encounter - the spec does not matter. You dont get those medals for "free". Sorcs do, with their shield cast on others - but they deserve it as well, as shield is great team utility and they should be motivateed to use it on team at all time (most are dumb and dont... most people because of that dont even realize the shield is designed to be casted on others..)
  20. Nope, they deserve it. If anything i would suggest more medals for healing, but tanks getting what they get is ok. Its motivating right gameplay and contributing to team rather than OMGLOLITOPDPS.
  21. All i want from Guild ships is not space combat, but ability of guilds (even of same faction) siege each other - boarding the enemy ships and fighting inside them for objectives. Aka GvG warzone - same way it was done in guild wars with Guild castles.
  22. You made a fatal mistake comparing AoC and SWTOR here right now. Because AoC nerfs were all justified. I cant even remember how many gamebreaking mechanics were there - unkillable super damage PoMs, 1-shotting overreach charge guardians, 1 combo headshotting barbs, multiple totem ToSes, Grip of Death necros or at other time pet necros and the list goes on - EVERY class had some gamebreaking mechanic at some point . All the AoC changes made the pvp way better and more balanced. The only thing i dislike is change from longer 5 step combos to 3 step ones, but got used to it too. AoC is perfect example of how defiant morons each time whined when they class and exploiting mechanic they were used were about to get nerfed. Each and every time - same arguments, curses and whines. Barely anyone accepted things were "wrong" with their classes. AoC made a lot of mistakes, Funcom are terrible when it comes to bugs, shedules and delivering promises - but AoC PvP is actually not bad. And thats BECAUSE of many many balance changes, tweaks and whole classes and mechanics rewamps.
  23. It baffles me each time someone brings DAOC as example of "perfect" pvp title. I seriously doubt the people who say such things ever played it in prime time. Class balance? Unexistant. Not "bad" mind you - there simply was no such thing. Some classes were better, others were useless. CC? Cry about SWTOR stunlock - when you CC whole raid of people for about a minute... Lags in mass pvp? People implying DAOC was smooth ride obviously did not participate at such. Dont misunderstand me - it was a great and fun game, but its value is that its showed a LOT of things that should NOT be done by developers - a great lesson for the future.
