  1. In fact what Bioware need to do is the following, and this needs to happen before changes are made above level 20 legacy levels. It's imperative they add something like this, or they face people ripping all the content from the meta end game and pretty much allowing people to finish the game. This isn't just bad for the people who have reached that level, it trickles down to all players, there seems to be 'no point playing' if people have already completed everything already. They can add this to any legacy levels earned over level 20, to stem the flow of huge gains over short periods of time. They have the tools available to do this. What I'm suggestion is a dynamic legacy XP acquisition rate, based on the amount of XP earned each month. Suggestion Make legacy level a function of elapsed game time (not played time) spent playing as well as XP. So it's diminishing returns on legacy level awarded to players each month. Each player has a legacy percentage meter that shows the accrued level of legacy XP vs normal XP. This way there is a normalize progression and those who want to push the limits can do so, but it's only effective up to a point. Using this system you can create a much better distribution over time, which allows Bioware to create content over that period and ensure there are always awards available, regardless of time spent playing, and not have to rush out content
  2. I'm legacy level 15 from what I consider to be on the very high side of reasonable hours putting in around 14 days on various characters, one 50, a couple of 25's, 20's, 15's etc all my slots filled. I've also done dailies, space, pretty much everything. It's obvious that people who are anywhere near 50 have found a technique to game the system and artificially increase they legacy level through non intended mechanics. On my server people have been farming mind traps. What is Biowares stance on people who have achieved such a high level of legacy, given there have been similar exploits in the game to things like valor trading etc? I hope the only solution isn't to increase the target (as I noticed in some recent patch notes), as these people who have gamed the system will have made it so much harder for others who play a lot less than me, to gain any real benefit. I'm definitely not opposed to hard capping the legacy in line with future updates, even if it negatively effects me, it will be good for the game overall, and give a longer term goal to all players, just not all at once, so the grinders can't manipulate the system.
  3. *@$% people actually read what I write, I better be more careful in future!!!
  4. If people can present me with examples of them making spelling errors in their legacy name, I'll change my mind. The majority of people changed their mind and wanted to pick another name.
  5. Interesting concept, as a 'scorer' and a player who blocks and cc's to allow others to score, a bit of recognition for my efforts would be appreciated, rather than sorting a spreadsheet by any other metric that would promote people in the same role as me into mvp. I notice you DPS you give mvp to healer not someone who out-dpsed you you heal, you don't give it to the other healers, you give it to the dps.....
  6. Extremely annoyed that we were told this was fixed and it still persists, really no reason to pvp right now. Developer response needed now, it's been way too long and you've had two chances to fix this.
  7. Given the fact that pretty much every sentence is chat channels is prefixed or suffixed by "LOL", I can see his game, like real life, represents the fact that people do in facr repeat themselves from time to time..... I've only noticed it once, a complete non problem.
  8. As a solo player, I like many other intend to start my own guild today, fill it out with people so I can get to go to Austin to see the guild capital ships and laud my top secret info over the rest of the player base, as well as forcing home my own personal agenda and being social with all those people I've been nasty to in game. Let's see how this one goes, I get the feeling however this is done, it's going to lead to the feeling that some people are 'B team' players, and feeling hard done by. After all, given this is an online game, isn't everyone's opinion valid and isn't the web the best medium for presenting material like this?
  9. This is not close to true. Look at the Sniper/Operative once you hit the advanced classes you use totally different skills to what you do pre-10. They don't add further abilities, you get your class defining abilities as you get your advanced class. Rotations, skill priorities totally different. An operative will very rarely use cover skills, but they are the bread and butter of the sniper class. Changing AC is really just changing class, difference is Bioware let's you test drive them for the first 10 levels.
  10. Is this available, I can't see it as a recruit? It's a good tool for keeping track of friends and working out how to coordinate active players?
  11. Wholeheartedly against this. I believe this will damage the game tremendously as people flip flop between classes causing imbalance and adding pressure to development resource to balance every last percentage to the nth degree. If you look at WoW, you can pick Warrior or Paladin, both tanks and damage, one has healing too. You make that change at the start of the game, then you are unable to change that. It's the same with advanced classes, there is a wealth of info available before making the choice, SWTOR just allows you to take the class for a test drive before you commit more deeply. If you are unhappy with your advanced class choice, you should reroll, given it's a three hour investment to get to level 10. I would hate to think there were cookie cutter leveling builds in one spec, so people could race through content, only to chose an advanced class at 50 with absolutely no knowledge on how to play it.
  12. I'd prefer this is be available on inspection only, as I think it would be horrible to have to endure people constantly linking their crafting abilities in a public chat channel, similar to other games where this contribute to spam. How about making the schematics available as a remote inspection, so you can still deal with people, but not have to be right next to them?
  13. Also people claim to have made a mistake with the legacy names. This is just dressing up the fact they changed their minds and had another idea after they committed their choice. If this is to happen, it should be on an equal footing with changes to character first name, server choice and advanced class choices, as people can claim that they also made a 'mistake' with those choices and are unable to change them.
  14. On reading through this the main issue is that some people made a mistake and want to change their legacy name. Legacy names right now are cosmetic only and can be switched off. It really doesn't impact gameplay for anyone else other than yourself. Given that this can be addressed in future it's hardly a showstopper and needs to be considered later down the line as and when they develop the legacy system. Name changes are not always available at launches in MMO's, so let's not expect this to happen right out of the gate. I would prefer more robust naming conventions and policing to happen before we start allowing folks to change things up. Bottom line is that you made a mistake, knowing it was permanent, you'll just have to wait for it to be changed later on down the line.
  15. Apologies for the repost, I put it on the wrong forums. This is a new idea, not sure how players would feel about this. Say you KILLED you character off permanently and there was a death story line, how would you feel if you could pass on greater benefits to your legacy through the sacrifice. In a similar way to Obi-Wan in the movies?? I was thinking this would give a real living feel to an MMO, give greater content choices for hardcore players, and would be unique in a MMO setting. Players would come and go, but their legacy would live on, and they are incentivised to roll alts to continue to play the game? Your character may not live forever?? Any thoughts?
  16. I guess it would be small benefit to game play, probably something to reduce time sinks or convenience items. They should be awarded on a infrequent basis, to give game play a lift from time to time. Looking at movies I can see that the light side gives you the following 1) Ability to sense danger, impending doom, other force sensitive individuals. So maybe an increased stealth detection? 2) Overpower minds, this could be an ability where you could go backward in a discussion to change options, similar to a Jedi mind trick? 3) Combat benefits are difficult to add in, as they unbalance things somewhat, so I have tried to stay away from these. 4) Now this is a good idea, I just had!!! How about if from being a good jedi you can offer DS/LS benefits to other players when you make group discussion decisions. Agree with the light side jedi and there is a bonus from being associated with a pious individual. So an alignment buff to light side characters for other members of the group. 5) Socialability : How about you can actually allocate some of your social points to other group members, unique to light side and generous players? 6) Force calling : In the movies the Jedi call out to the force, how about you can call your crew to pick you up in your ship. I would love this to be incorporated into a cutscene, as opposed a teleport? There looks to be so much you can do with the concept, it's best to use the films to generate ideas however, to keep it in keeping with the lore etc.

  18. I lot of people are drawn to the dark side because, well honestly, they look bad *** with dark glowing eyes, who wouldn't want that. It seem that light side really miss out, so I compiled a list of idea of similar perks that could be assigned to the light side to help address the imbalance. 1) Blue glowy : after you die you can rez with a blue glow for say a minute or two which shows how you have managed to channel the force to repair your wounds. This sort of fits into the lore as only characters who are of light side, or turned from the dark side, are glowing blue in the movies. 2) Virtuous : Give players an increased value to items sold to vendors, in appreciation for their commitment to piety. 3) Attunement to the light side, reduces travel times as you ancestors channel their powers to allow you to move more effortlessly throughout the world. 4) Ancestral mentors : You can commune with blue glowies to get a series of perks and benefits. I feel this would be a great way of adding to the story. There needs to be something that the light side can get, and I don't think it needs to be purely cosmetic, that hopefully is the start of Biowares plans. Not sure who reads these forums, probably a waste of time or discussed before, but I thought I'd contribute.
  19. I'd like a run down on some gear, as i have read a lot about the spec, but not how to optimally gear for it, i.e. Supercommando or Eliminator, would bonuses from PvE gear help, do you use a shield or a power generator etc? Thanks!
  20. This is still happening, even after logging out. Having a hard time liking the pvp in this game now. Nothing like winning 8 in an hour and getting nothing from it. Fix please
  21. You need to have found all the Datacrons before you can get the White Crystal, correct?
  22. Just checked my Codex and says I'm 5/6 for Datacrons. I'm almost 100% sure that it was five up until a few days ago, did they add another very recently?
  23. I just wanted to add my voice to those who claim to be unhappy with these developments. I feel like I've been let down by Bioware now. The problem is, I think I'm being misled, and that's broken my trust. In each and every case previously, we've had spot on feedback for problems, community engagement and a resolution. However in this case, I don't think the response was honest. This is why : 1) It takes 3 seconds to tell the truth, it takes 3 days to make up a story. 2) To be told that adding hi-res graphics is a huge amount of work, concerns me, this is 2012 and high resolution graphics are assured, why on earth have we not got them. 3) I feel like the community are being treated as stupid regarding the 'bug' on the pulldown option. Making unpopular choices is always made easier by being truthful. I think the graphics got cut due to performance concerns after Bioware heard the outcry that this game would seem like a single player game. They upped the volume of players that can play on each server, but at the same time had to dumb down the graphics. The overall solution is awkward, annoying and I feel like I'm being penalized for investing in my gaming hobby, because someone else chooses to run SWTOR on a 8 year old Dell laptop. An official apology and emergency community action is needed here. I hate being misled like this, in the marketing material, even in beta. Why did you even try and invent a story to explain this, the people who spent upwards of $50 wanted this game to be a success and work with you to enjoy it, but you've alienated most of your player base through a very poor management decision to make an excuse, and leave the community feeling rightly upset. I reject the explanation of a bug in the UI, please give us the real reason behind the change to remove high resolution textures and give us a timeline for a fix.

  25. It's the data from the SWTOR files, it appears in the data. Has anyone done something like max out affection with all companions to maybe unlock a quest? I can see something like this being a bigger deal, so would probably be triggered by a significant event?
