  1. Obviously, I'm guessing since I'm not privy to numbers. My personal made up guesses are: 1-They are wrong but don't know it yet. 2- They are wrong, know it, but don't care. 3-They are partially right in that casuals are better in the short term but not long term. 4-They are actually right. None of this may actually come close to reality, but I do find it difficult that so many investors and companies can be wrong. Then again, movie wise, someone somewhere thought Highlander 2 was a good idea, so what do I know?...
  2. Great idea. Guild Wars 2, that also has level sync, by the way, actually has a pretty good log-in reward system. You can get Legendary (top tier gear) components, just for logging in! Marvel Heroes 2015 also has a log-in reward system. If you log in for enough days, you get a free random hero (a free class if I use SWTOR's language). That's 5-20$ value, for a free to play game, with no monthly fee. Excellent suggestion Lord_Iurus. Took you totally at face value, exactly as you meant it...
  3. Well, technically, everything and everyone is dying. My wife actually used that internet meme with my daughter once... Daughter = "What's the point of making my bed if I'm just going to lie in it later?" Wife = "What's the point of feeding you if you're just going to die later?" Daughter = "I'll go make my bed..."
  4. It would be nice (for me) if there was a way to downgrade comms. That way, you could get lower items like companion gifts. At 10 characters (for me) x8+ companions = 80+ companions = 80 x 250,000 influence = 20 million influence... Could use the help. I pity the min-maxer with 40 characters (80 million influence to cap!) Likely far more with the new recruits...
  5. Yes. Exactly that. I love the infestation of cutscenes. And, an afternoon of play that I enjoy trumps months / years of play that I don't. Selfish? Absolutely. I also don't go to ice cream shop and order what's best for the company, or what's best for other customers. Weirdly, I order what's best for ME. Ditto how I VOTE for what's best... wait for it... for me! Don't expect me to be different in a game...
  6. I stand corrected then. If that's the case, then people complaining against other things have a chance (see other threads, about, well, anything really)...
  7. I don't think it's specific to Bioware. I have played, what, 4-10 MMOs, ish... dragged there kicking and screaming by RL friends... and most of them had the same pattern (esp. EverQuest, though I'm sure there are worse...) 1-Release Expansion 2-Players rejoice in the new drops, levels, powers, AA (alternate abilities), etc... 3-Devs / suits adjust (ahem, "nerf", ahem) the drop rates, level/power/AA bonuses, etc... 4-Players complain 5-Time Passes 6-Devs / suits announce a new Expansion 7-Go back to step 1... That's my experience anyways. I have no doubt that companions will be... "adjusted"... and then, after a while... BW/EA will announce a new SWTOR expansion, and attention will go to THAT and people will forget about companions, or the slot machine, or whatever else was adjusted... It's one way to monetize. Gets people buying the expansion day 1, doesn't it?
  8. Sorry. My fault. Totally was unclear. None of the above are linked. Being a emotion driven person has nothing to do with being a technophobe. Being introvert has nothing to do with being negative. I'm just quoting all the personality traits that some people want GONE including being negative. And my point, which was obviously lost, sorry again, was that those traits are what some people are / choose to be, and no matter how many "WHY do people behave like {insert word from list}?" is said... it's really never going to change... (Edited my post for clarity)
  9. EDITED for clarity. It's not just Negative people. There are also: Introverts. Those hating change. Those wanting things easy. Technophobes. Emotion driven. Others have been trying to get people with the above traits to stop being who they are... for millenia now... with no luck. I fit in most of the above categories, and I can tell you, I totally behave the same, face to face. Anyways, I'm off to complain about the rain...
  10. For those that hate PvP, don't bother posting about it to people that want you to be upset. Either avoid PvP, or do this... Queue up. Enter the WZ. Then, between the times you push whatever minimum buttons qualify for not being afk-kicked and/or the TOS... read a book tab out and browse social media play on a tablet / iphone do a quick chore IRL etc... Have chat off, and you won't even see any reactions from either side. If you're kicked from the WZ, try again tomorrow. If, somehow, BW can tell you are reading a book (!?), or whatever and suspends / kicks you from the game itself... spend your money somewhere else. But here on the boards, all you'll get is LOL / "I feast on your tears"... Yet there's NOTHING anyone here on the boards can do to stop you from not paying attention to the gameplay. That's why they are engaging with insults... to draw you in. I'd love to see anyone here preventing me from reading a book IRL while I... "play"... (and if you CAN stop me IRL... please apply to Seal Team 6... they need your skills)
  11. Sad that no matter how many times this video is dubbed... I find it hilarious... thank you, Ferrnitty.
  12. I wouldn't bother, Max_Killjoy. That poster is purposefully missing your excellent description of the problem: "diatribe of derision and belittlement".
  13. As much as I agree with you, AdrianDmitruk, I can't see any front facing agents doing anything but the company line. Unless, of course, they want to leave their jobs in a DRAMATIC MANNER. Personal Anecdote Point, though, is unless you're in that position... if you don't want to be fired / sued, you do what you're told. It's why I have little faith that certain things will be fixed or even admitted to on the boards. And I don't really blame the devs. I blame the suits...
  14. One thing I find great about KOTFE I can do space missions and level quite well, even on the non-heroics. I bought for the first time ever the +EXP to Space missions perk, clicked the boosts to "EXP while in space missions" (I had 2, with NO IDEA how I got them...). 2 days of doing from Impossible Sector down to Fondor Escort, once each, and I'm level 64, half way to 65... not bad for an hour or so of playing...
  15. Hey, there were many threads of people that didn't like the level sync. The response was tons of "Level sync is here to stay. Deal with it. Your tears sustain me." posts. If that's how the level sync is (I've just done Space missions so far since I had no interest in sync-ed planetary dailies)... I have no problem being a hypocrite, doing a 180 and saying "Yay, level sync!" Hey, if all those "Deal with it..." comments remain unmoderated in other threads... if you can't beat them, join them. So, in that vein, since, as per the mods, it's an acceptable way to talk on these boards... Oh, you don't like how easy things have become?... ahem... cough... "Oh, the game is trivialized even more? Level sync is here to stay. Deal with it. Your tears sustain me."
  16. No idea. I was actually planning to do a few of the "old" core missions and dialog to see if I could raise influence "for free" with dailies, drops, etc... Now, if, as a pretend, I raise it to tier 20 in core, do KOTFE, and get the companion reset back at tier 10... it's pretty worrisome. Doesn't sound right, but it wouldn't be the first thing to "not sound right" yet is applied to game expansions...
  17. First off, I'm in the same boat you are MajikMyst. Unfortunately for us, game companies try to "encourage" people to PvP or group up for a while now. Sadly, this is nothing new in the industry. Pure RP-er are out for those companions I assume. So far, I've put any PvP goals / rewards in the "nope" category. Personally, since I want the companions, I might actually go PvP for the first ever in SWTOR, but certainly not the "right" way. TIP = If the PvP mechanics block that (that's how little I care about PvP, no clue how it works, nor will I after X matches), I guess we do without those companions, MajikMyst... As much as I agree with you, AlaricSevGirl, careful. People like that are quick to laugh at our tears but are strangely quick on the report button. I have the permabans to prove it in other games. I suggest you don't engage...
  18. Thank you for the answer. Actually, no. Not for me. I've read a lot of people have this glitch. It missed me this time. My improved Power Converter is on and stays on... unlike my companion pants... (Yeah, read up on that one... it's a hoot...) My ship problem is having an "obsolete material" as a prereq to craft Concussion Missile Magazine, Deflector Shield and Improved Electronic Warfare Pod... but I'm not spending 1,500 ish Space Comms to find out even if I rebought it... it's still bugged instead of a recipe that's "new" without those elements. But thanks again for the answer, Clipped_Wolf.
  19. Maybe you're totally right. I don't know the OP. But I can see some reason to those type of posts. Personally, whenever there's an "I'm quitting" thread, I actually see more of a Jerry Maguire effect. You know, the "I quit, please quit too." type deal. If the OP (or similar post) can get even ONE person that's on the fence to quit, that's (ROUGHLY) 15$ a month / 180$ a year, x the lifespan of this game... per person (ROUGHLY!) Extra points if it's 2... 3... or a lot more that quit. Obviously, works only on those on the fence. Those certain they are staying... will stay. Those certain they are quitting... will quit. Downsides to posting? I can't see any...The OP can't be banned (s/he quit), can't be sued, can't have anything done to him/her... yet might cost the company some money with no retribution. Not much, but it's some. And, if it doesn't work... sure, they get mocked for a game they won't ever return to (presumably) and all they wasted was 10 minutes of their life (max) before moving on. Childish / temper tantrum / whatever... you might be right, Sorrai. But if it works... does it matter? You get worse IRL if you shoplift $15 of stuff from a store (assuming "I quit" posts are against TOS...) "I quit" posts seem win/win to me... if you're there for stirring up... stuff... EDIT = Oh, and I'm an emotion > logic type person... so the above is likely WAY OFF on the logic scale. I personally do things because : "Blue, mostly"... props if you get the reference without Google... hehe...
  20. Totally agree. Heck, if I could, I'd take away the devs' AND upper managers' (lets not forget them) cars, and replace them with horses. Total classic feel... honest...
  21. People have been complaining about the rain for 10s of thousands of years, even though it won't change anything. Other people have been trying to stop us from complaining for just as long. We complainers still complain about the rain. You still want to stop us? Good luck with that...
  22. I apologize if I missed the answer in Google or in these threads. I know I'm probably 1 of 5 people that still self-gears alts with G7 space upgrades, but still... With KOTFE, the three Grade 7 recipes now need an obsolete item (paraphrased). Is it like the other recipes in that we have to rebuy it? If so, could anyone that rebought the recipe confirm that the "new" recipe is fixed... please... Thanks in advance.
  23. Stats gear up is covered. But looks wise, options went away. I was toying with the idea of dropping my Jedi Knight's "Corellian Armour" (I forget the real name) look when we first got the options to change our looks. I was trying to see how he'd look like as a Jedi Cowboy type (please don't judge, hehe)... Good thing I didn't over-write the Corellian slot... I'm sure I'd get it back eventually with drops or GTN... but the convenience is gone... Unless, of course, it's "out there" and I missed the vendors...
  24. Okay. Thank you. Apologies in advance to whatever (many MANY) teams I'll on where all I want is to get my 40 and go... Hopefully there aren't too many like me, for their sake.. And to my future opponents... you're welcome...
  25. Oh. That makes MUCH more sense. I've only had it happen twice, at the same spot in the Jedi Knight story. I just thought Doc REALLY missed his grandmother and did a Holiday-level memorial on himself...
