  1. I would like the other companions to send you on companion quests, not just the first companion you get. That would be more fun. If we had a companion limit of 5 on the ship at any one time, but had a greater pool to choose from, that could be fun as well.
  2. Although I have no wish to participate in PvP or warzones, I do think it would be good to have an option to watch a hutt-ball match, or a warzone match. Certainly it works well in Guild Wars where you can enter the arena purely as a spectator. You never know - it might inspire some PvEers to try PvP....(won't happen in my case, but might for some others).
  3. I would support this completely - PvP on PvP only servers. No open-world PvP on PvE servers. If you are into PvP, that's fine by me and I have no issue with it, but let PvE be for those who aren't. If a PvEer wants to do some PvP, they can queue for a warzone or hutt-ball game. Or roll on a PvP-specific server. Although I'm not sure how you can be killed by another player if you have not flagged yourself (either through being in a PvP area, duelling, or manually toggling it on) as PvP?
  4. Accidently reverse engineered an orange blaster....complete with mods....oops.... First character I rolled and was still getting used to how everything worked. Then, "what's this little button in my inventory window do?"...
  5. ^^This. Absolutely this. Can't stand the arrogant, self-important floozy. I also deliberately reduce her affection - all the others are maxed or close to, and she's on 100 or something. That airlock is looking better all the time.... Guss - he's annoying sometimes but he's comic relief. Bowdaar with his constant whining about being a slave grates on my nerves more than Guss. The Imperial side ship droid is miles better than the Republic one - another one I'd like to push out the airlock!
  6. Smuggler (gunslinger/scoundrel). Gets the healer companion last, after Hoth. It was a real pain in the neck. I don't think the planet bonus series are easy to find, other than the ones like Taris and Tatooine that are straight after you've finished on the planet and you find them as you are heading into the spaceport on your way out. There's nothing to take you to the quest starter on the fleet for the others, and unless you found out by accident or through talking to someone, how would you know they were even there? I avoid the fleet like the plague (way too much lag there for me) so it's not like I pop in to visit the rellies on a regular basis or anything and find them that way. As a gunslinger I don't get stealth and make a point of finishing all bonus quests. I have done a grand total of 1 space mission, 0 pvp, 0 warzones and very very few heroics (a couple of +2s only) and managed to stay on level for each planet. The planet level is a range, so if I was a couple of levels higher than the start level, that's cool - you don't have to go to a new planet as soon as you hit that level. Hoth - don't forget to explore the planet fully. You may find an outpost with a couple of quests that you didn't even know was there. Just a suggestion.
  7. I don't keybind for a couple of reasons - I can't remember which spells are bound to which keys, and my off-hand coordination is complete rubbish (I'm right-handed). I have been a very successful raid healer using mouse clicks in other MMOs (no, I've never played WoW). I don't PvP so no need to change my preferred playstyle. Not that I would because other people expected me to - I do what suits me.
  8. Getting rid of speeders on the fleet would definitely help the lag problem. I avoid the fleet generally and go to other planets to check GTN etc because of that reason. I only go to the fleet when it's totally unavoidable.
  9. That's good to know - thanks for the replies. Yes, taxi travel is where I think the problem lay. So used to jumping on a taxi and heading off to the taxi point nearest the mission objective. I will check and see if any are in the west and abandon those missions. Appreciate the very constructive advice. A couple of these missions I got before I got to Ilum. So the assumption (rightly or wrongly) is that they were PvE.
  10. Thanks for the reply - appreciate it
  11. I have to put this here as there doesn't seem to be a forum for PVE missions. I have a number of missions on Ilum that I (as a PVEer) would like to complete. However, it would appear that every time I attempt to head to the mission area, I get that nasty red "you will be flagged for PvP in xx seconds" message. I don't PvP. It is not a playstyle that appeals to me (good for you if it does for you). Is there any way I can complete these PVE missions without going through PvP areas? Considering Bioware stated that they were developing a game "for all playstyles" it seems odd that PvE missions cannot be completed without being forced into a playstyle that is unwanted.
  12. So? I like to group because I choose to, not because I'm forced to. Solo play style is also my preferred style. I like having other people running around, doing their thing, and chatting with them - but I don't like being forced to group with others just to get stuff done.
  13. Why do people base an assumption that server population is low on the number of players sitting at the Fleet? I (and others in my guild) almost never go to the Fleet - we are too busy out in the galaxy, rescuing it! Plus the lag is terrible on the Fleet - it's painful trying to move around it. Perhaps what they are trying to say is "Flashpoint/Ops/PUG-players-at-level-50 populations are low on this server". Would that be more accurate?
  14. When Corso goes looking for his cousin, or Aric wants to rescue his previous squad that got into trouble - that's fun. Totally non-romanceable and totally fun. Also more in keeping with my experience of MMOs. And it's also interacting with my companions and seeing their personalities. Don't need the whole romance thing. Maybe it's that in all the MMOs I've played, every time I've had a pet, they've had a specific job to do. I would just like the companions to get on with doing their jobs.
  15. Hmmm...so it's sort of RPing? Not something I've ever taken on board so probably why I don't get the concepts. I can understand it better now though - thanks for the explanation.
  16. Both, I think. I just don't understand why they would put something so (to me) weird in. It just seems to be a very strange sort of concept to put into a MMO. I can understand having a pet or having henchmen to help you with combat/pulling and holding aggro etc, but not romance. Having the companions crafting is a great idea though.
  17. That's true, but I don't smoke nor drink nor do drugs, so got to have some kind of vice
  18. I just want them to do their job. A necro/conjurer/illusionist in EQ wouldn't romance their pet, nor can you do so with heroes and henchmen in Guild Wars. They just do their jobs. I just think it's a really strange concept.
  19. Frankly, I think the idea of romancing a companion irrespective of same or different sex to be pretty weird. Yes, I know it's a Bioware thing, but it's still pretty weird to start with. I want my companions to have maximum affection to make them efficient at crafting and crew skill missions - I don't want to MARRY one!! That seems to be seriously....weird.
  20. Yeah this is not good. It is such a shame that everything with them basically stops as soon as you hit max affection. No more conversations, no quests, nothing. May as well have a ghost tagging along with you.
  21. Kira "Feel my Force!" and "Eat lightsaber, jerk!" Guss "I heal you with Jedi power!" (yeah, right lol) Kaliyo "Hey ugly! Give you 20 credits to lick my feet. He'll go for it - spot me 20 creds?" And anything that M1-4X says - especially when he threw the Ambassador out the window...had me in total fits. So many really good ones to choose from...
  22. Getting rid of the speeders might also help reduce the lag that affects the Fleets so badly.
  23. EQ2 voice chat works brilliantly. Makes a huge difference to successfully taking the raid boss or the raid wiping. People don't have to talk - so long as they have the ability to hear what the raid leader is saying, that's all that's needed. Not everyone has Vent or TeamSpeak or Skype or whatever. With EQ2 you could choose your channel - none, guild, group, officer, raid. If you didn't want to be in voice chat, you chose none. In groups or raids, you chose the applicable channel. If you wanted to, you could even make your own channel and invite your friends from other guilds to it to chat. You didn't have to use it, but it made grouping so much easier if you did! Never came across any abuse or harassment on it either. People seemed to behave better somehow...
  24. Considering that at launch the Aus/NZ populations of Swiftsure and The Harbinger were accused of causing the excessive queues and were told by the American contingent to get off "their" servers (both on the forum and through ingame harassment), now they are concerned that the population will become drastically reduced and the servers becoming ghost towns. Talk about an about-face. You can't have it both ways. Be careful what you wish for - you might get it.
