  1. It's a fairly safe assumption if you think about it logically. For many classes (if not most classes) having a permanent house would be immersion breaking. My ship has a bed, storage for personal items and a droid who cooks my meals. As a galactic hero cruising around from one hot-spot to the next, my ship is my home. That said, the lack of a shower and toilet can be an inconvenience.
  2. Selling a service that they know they cannot provide is a clear violation of consumer laws in most countries. If you've purchased the companion unify unlock (or any other non-functional unlock) and havent been able to get a refund, you should lodge a complaint. If in the USA go to https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ If outside the USA go to http://www.econsumer.gov
  3. Try tossing a coin 200 times and come back here with the results.
  4. There are a lot of bugs in this game that while annoying, I can put up with while Bioware takes their sweet time and fixes. But the sound bugs have pushed me well beyond my tolerance level. No Bioware, it is not my sound drivers, it's your damn spaghetti code.
  5. +1 for the OP's suggestion (either one of them). With the legacy system encouraging people to roll alts/crafters/gatherers from both factions, not being able to friend them for mailing purposes seems like an oversight.
  6. I'm completely over this as well. It was a cool idea, but now it's simply become an annoyance for many people. BW need to give us the option to opt out, and they need to do it soon.
  7. MT would kill this game IMO for two main reasons: SWTOR is set a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. It's space fantasy and part of it's appeal is that it's so far removed from someone's real life. I don't want how much money I earn in real life to have any bearing on my success, power, or even convenience in the game world. The second reason is that MMO's rely on always having goals to aspire to. As soon as one achieves all of their goals, they'll get bored and inevitably leave. If BW introduced MT, the temptation for me to purchase them would be too great to resist. But at the same time I would be destroying a huge part of my gaming experience. I'm reasonably confident BW are smart enough not to do this, right BW?
  8. These are publicly released patch notes, not internal documentation. Very unprofessional.
  9. Ah yeah, I was trying to add an imperial player as republic. Guess we're still not allowed to be friends
  10. Nope sorry. Just tried it and that's still broken as well.
  11. I check Steam every other day for what new stuff they have on offer, and it doesn't take much to make me hit the purchase button. I've bought an absolute ton of games off Steam in the past 12 months, more than I'd care to admit. On the other hand I almost never look at Origin, and would certainly never make a impulse purchase. I've bought two games off Origin in the past 12 months; Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 (SWTOR I bought from Amazon). The next game I'll be buying is SimCity 5 in 2013 So yes, I will still buy EA games if they're exclusive to Origin, but only if I absolutely must have them. And it's not because of some principled boycott, is just not convenient. Steam is a sophisticated, reliable and mature platform, and they have got to where they are by providing a service that makes buying and maintaining games super easy. I throw money around in that place like it's Christmas, and I have a lot of friends who do the same. Over time Steam has gotten to know the kind of games I like and doesn't bother showing me crap like "The Sims 3 Katy Perry's Sweet Treats". Sorry EA, but your platform isn't even in the same league as Steam. Even if you manage to catch up in terms of features/service, the horse bolted long ago.
  12. OK my mistake. I read it off someone else's quote and launched into This Is An Outrage mode
  13. There are quite a few cases here where I tend to think well that sucks, but them's the rules. But I think any reasonable person would look at your situation and agree that's just bureaucracy for bureaucracy sake. It's not a technological restriction because we know they are doing some transfers manually. Come on Bioware, give this guy a break will you?
  14. The minute I heard someone use the term 'name-griefer" that thought occurred to me as well.
  15. While I wouldn't ever seriously suggest that, my god it would be entertaining. This forum would literally explode.
  16. What most reasonable asia-pacific players are asking for is that maintenence be shifted slightly. Anyone with any knowledge of geography knows that our two biggest oceans account for a significant portion of the planet's surface. Surely that provides a bit of wiggle room? I'd wager that migrating whales couldn't care less about SWTOR, primetime or otherwise. We're not asking to be given favour over US or EU players, just for a minimal bit of consideration on this matter.
  17. I suspect we're just going to have to deal with the reserved name issue ourselves. There's no way Bioware would implement a process where a character is automatically deleted, even if they sought confirmation at the time. Any other solution (that isn't fully automated) could make the process far more complicated than it already is, so I doubt they would risk it. Far safer from Bioware's perspective to leave it as a player's responsibility to deal with. Personally I wouldn't argue with such an attitude, given the problems they've had already.
  18. Most of my characters are on The Harbinger and I've managed to register them all for transfer to Dalborra. The weird thing is that I have two characters already on Dalborra, and one of them is listed as an option for transfer. Apparently it thinks that character is on The Harbinger. If I was to take a wild guess as to the cause: I think I was playing that character when Bioware pulled the data over, and it snagged itself to the rest of my characters. I've left the character as "Don't transfer" and as long as it doesn't cause any issues, I don't care. But it's clearly a bug.
  19. As a developer I can tell you that not returning data is extremely unlikely to have anything to do with your web browser. Those drop-downs are server-side controls which means the problem is further down the application stack. In most cases asking users to delete their cache is basically a 'keep yourselves busy while we fix it' response. The devs know full well this is not the problem. Unfortunately deleting cache can be a huge inconvenience to many users. I'm very grateful Bioware is doing this for us, but my god they seriously need to review their implementation procedures.
  20. 7 days isn't that unreasonable given the sheer number of transfers they'll be doing at once. As for the form, it's still within the window they'd given to get it fixed. But yeah you'd think they would have finished building it before releasing it... Seriously, don't they get embarrassed by such laughable screw-ups?
  21. I'm in Australia and didn't get that email either. I definitely satisfy all of the requirements for the free transfer.
  22. Any company that has a system up 24/7 does so not because they can but because they have to. Downtime in those cases translates directly into lost business. Ever notice how you can buy SWTOR on Origin 24/7?
  23. Given that 81% of Australia's population lives on the east coast (2006 Census), it's not surprising BW chose Sydney to host the servers. But it is most definitely an Oceanic server and should be labelled as such. I don't believe for a minute BW were unaware of the routing issues to the rest of Asia.
