  1. I to like the idea of having animal mounts, Dewbacks here we come!
  2. I'm thinking the exact same thing as the others on here, old players will return but I'm not really convinced that there is going to be such an increase in newcomers. In my own view I think this may be down to the bad view that people have been led to believe about the game by falling subscriber numbers etc. Although you never know Bioware may have a massive advertising campaign ready to come out tomorrow.
  3. Although I'm not against it I would personally rather the development team focused on improving the game and adding new content/features rather than focusing on getting the game to run on Mac OSX. I originally had just an iMac, but after my new found hobby for PC gaming I decided to get a Windows computer aswell. So I'm not against it at this moment in time, but I think possibly when it comes to the game being F2P then I think yes Bioware would benefit from having a mac client.
  4. I to am wondering what will happen to the likes of this game as from my own knowledge I think Bioware/EA have to pay Lucasarts for the right to use the Star Wars brand. George Lucas also claims to think Disney won't hurt his franchise, even though they are planning to release a seventh film to the series.
  5. I upgraded to Windows 8 on my laptop and have only been using it for a couple of hours. It is a lot faster than Windows 7 and it does boot up quicker, since my laptop only has a 500GB 5400RPM drive. In terms of my desktop I don't think I'll be upgrading anytime soon as even on my laptop it feels as though you need a touch screen. It would seem that Windows are trying to move computing forward from the typical mouse and keyboard approach onto different methods.
  6. Although yes there are still people out there moaning about the game and saying that they hate, but I've actually seen recently on the forums a few threads were people have returned to see some of the new content that the game has to offer. I personally love this game, okay it has its problems but in all honesty what game doesn't? What I would really like to see is this game getting back together again and start regaining subscribers, which I hope the free to play will accomplish. Anyway I am staying on and hopefully will be for years to come.
  7. I found that by disabling Anti-Aliasing my stuttering issue goes away. Yes the game doesn't look as good without AA, but for us Nvidia card uses, simply set up your SWTOR profile in the Nvidia settings panel to use FXAA and it looks just as good. I still get the occasional stutter here and there but for the most part it seems to be a lot smoother. Unfortunately FXAA is only available on Nvidia cards so I suppose ATI users will have to wait for the issue to be resolved. Again I'm not 100% if it is this causing the problem but, before patch 1.4 everything was smooth and then it got choppy, but for me turning AA off since this patch seems to fix it for the most part.
  8. This thread seems to have mixed ideas about where the game is going and if they are going to continue their subscription or not. In my own opinion I will probably continue my sub as I enjoy the game and it has features that other MMOs don't have. Unfortunately though I will admit that some of the features that have been added in the recent patches such as the LFG system should have been implemented at launch. Which is why I feel this game hasn't got off to a good start, as I personally thing it was launched too earlier. I recently logged into WoW a couple of days back and looks as though AOE looting has only just been implemented. So again all MMOs have their own special features and perks. In terms of the F2P aspect I am not quite so sure on how this is going to work. Don't get me wrong I'm still going to keep an active sub, but I feel that if the sub price was to stay at £9($15) a month then you are paying for a couple of features that F2P doesn't have. Whereas on a game such as WoW you pay the £9 for 100% access to everything in the game. My knowledge would be that the price doesn't go down and probably stays at the price it is, but if F2P goes well many of the players will probably spend more money on cartel coins each month than an active sub. So it may actually be the F2Pers keeping the game alive and not premium users. Anyway I have got a little sidetracked there, but that is my view on the current direction of the game.
  9. I'm using a GTX 670, which has been slightly overclocked by myself. Personally gameplay seems to be a little more stuttery (if that's a word) whereby the game just feels rather slow and clumsy especially with going about the different areas. Considering that I used to have a 560 Ti and that ran the game just as smoothly as this one it seems a little disappointing. I have adaptive v-sync enabled and most of the time get 60 FPS but FPS drops seem to be more frequent for me in the latest patch (1.4). I have included my system specs below just for a little more info that may help with your research. Although when looking at my FPS it always seems to show 60 even though the game clearly looks choppy. Drivers: 306.23 Specific Card: MSI PowerEdition Twin Frozr II GTX 670 2GB (Playing at 1080P) Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T @ 3.8GHz RAM: 8GB @ 1436MHz Hard Drive: OCZ Vertex 2 240GB
  10. Well we all knew this day would come, but I am not looking forward to these 'Cartel' coins. So it may be that I simply stop my subscription and play the F2P option as so far it wouldn't seem that you get much for being a paying subscriber.
  11. I can see his point as I sure remember getting those fireworks after I reached level 80 on WoW. Without them I surely would have left.
  12. I'm sure that those factors will increase sub numbers as the lower price will most likely tempt more people to come along and give the game a go. I have already noticed a reasonable increase in activity tonight since 1.3 was released. Generally speaking I can get on my server with no problem what so ever at around 5pm GMT, but tonight there was about an hours queue, which obviously isn't a good thing but it shows the numbers are going up, at least for now they are. We'll just have to see how it goes, as I suppose the amount of subs that this game has doesn't change anything, I just want it to do well. And what I would most like to see is all the smug WoW players, that think their game is much better than ours, be like oh it looks like SWTOR has got more subscribers. I know this is very unlikely but I think it would be rather funny The problem is that most people new to choosing an MMO will go to the biggest and most popular one just as a sort of habit, as in a way they think it is going to have the best player experience.
  13. Due to these server transfers, which I foolishly accepted I now have to wait on average about an hour and a half to log into my server. For some reason, it would seem that all the players have been transferred onto one single server. It was even worse tonight with having the new patch, which meant queues where even longer. What's even worse is when you go back to see how your login progress is going and see you have been disconnected from the server due to inactivity.
  14. Maybe so, but I think the numbers are slowly rising at least and are not continuing to drop. So that must be a good sign, and I think many people have come back to the game since the past couple of patches and realized how much better the game is than when it first came out. I personally have been here since the game started, and I must say it definitely has improved over the last few patches. Unfortunately we have Guild Wars 2 just on the horizon and although it is free some people may decided to unsub and not bother paying the fee to play SWTOR. On another note surely the numbers will allow the game to continue, at the end of the day I suppose the game will continue to go on.
  15. Haha, that would be good but somewhat unlikely.
  16. I have been doing a little bit of research lately on what is happening with the current subscriber numbers for the game. So far I think the general trend is that the subscriber numbers are on the rise, well from what I can see from 'unofficial' sources. The EU TorStatus reports that the population has risen overall by 5.32% from http://www.torstatus.net/shards/eu/stats, of course you have to take into the count of server transfers and all of that but it would seems that the population nonetheless is increasing. You can also see this on the US link http://www.torstatus.net/shards/us/stats. It will be interesting to see what the official server numbers will be when EA or BioWare release this information, but to all those trolls out there, who want this game to fail may be out of luck. Anyway if any of you guys out there have anything to add to this, then please feel free to.
  17. None the less gold selling is big business in China, although I must say there are probably people out there selling credits. So you do have a point.
  18. In my opinion I am not particularly bothered about how many subscribers SWTOR has, as to be honest I am enjoying the game so I'm going to stay. I'd rather the game wouldn't go free to play as I find allowing people to buy items is an unfair advantage and I just don't generally like F2P MMOs. On the point that China is WoW's biggest market then you must all realize that most of these players are either hackers, gold sellers or people who sell accounts for money. I hope people don't take this the wrong way, but the reason it is popular in China is because (most) of them exploit it and make money off of it. So it's not actually a good thing that Blizzard have this third party selling of accounts and gold going on. Are Blizzard bothered by this fact that people sell gold? No, is the short answer as if they banned all these accounts they would make significantly less money.
  19. It's good to see that those subscribers that left are returning and hopefully this will carry on into the future. I really do want to see this game take off.
  20. I was considering getting Guild Wars 2, but then from what I have heard here it sounds as if it needs a bit of polishing up before I'll want to join. I have watched a few beta videos and I have to say the PVP looks great, but some of the animation and combat looked quite weird, but by the time it is released I'm sure most of that will have been fixed. Anyway for now I'll be sticking with SWTOR.
  21. If the event isn't extended I would like to have it reoccur at some points in the future, like some others have already said. Because in reality they are never going to actually completely destroy the Rakghoul plague so possibly in the future they could host the event on a different planet and possibly have new items to collect. Because I for one didn't realize about this event until a few days ago when I became infected and searched up what it was all about. Since I can't really play that many hours during the week I didn't really have the time to sit there waiting for myself to explode and then get infected again. Some people are disagreeing with this sense of extending the event, but from the recent posts Bioware seem quite hesitant of how it is going to end. So at the end of the day Bioware are going to do what the majority of the players want. So I 100% agree with this cause
  22. The 6310 will probably be able to play the game easily at a resolution of 1080p. I'm amazed at how you managed to build this rig so cheaply for me it is just above £340, which is incredible for a gaming PC. On the other point of multicore processors, it seems to work fine for me CPU usage is at about 30-35% when I'm playing, which I presume is roughly 2 cores I suppose. But I did overclock my CPU from 2.8GHz to 3.8, so that may have quite a big impact on performance.
  23. I too use the x6 in my rig it is a great processor and works really well with SWTOR. I think I have the same integrated GPU in mine but it didn't play the game too well so I bought a discrete GPU but I suppose the resolution also has a strong bearing on it. I also think the integrated chip is easily overclock-able or at least that is what it said on my motherboard's box.
  24. The reason that employees where sent off could have actually been down to the fact that they where working temporarily until the game was launched. It could of just meant that they needed more developers, whilst the game was under construction.
  25. I find myself in the same situation most of the time by level 25 I just about had 60K but by the time I had bought a speeder and leveled up all of my abilities I had nothing left. Each level costs like 20,000 credits to buy all of the new abilities. Anyway this thread has help me a lot to as I was also having money problems in game, so now I know these tips I should hopefully have some spare change.
