  1. I do not like Space missions. I do not play them so i do not care what they put on cash shop. But it clearly gives an advantage to the dedicated player that buys the space pack on terms of the rewards. I do not know or care how anyone will define it, P2W or not, it only feels to me that is a clear P2W situation. And how about the future and the so called Super Secret Space Program? Are they going to do the same? I am worried.
  2. If you really want to get some valuable feedback to evaluate your F2P model you need to open a Free player only forum. You wont get much info from Fb or Reddit or twitter. Giving prefs 2 additional hotbars is a great start along with the addition of character slots but these should have been there from the start. You could have avoided a lot of flameposts and negativity if you went rational early. And, frankly, i m very worried since i heard you were examining the option to monetize spacebar function during cutscenes. Thank god logic and not stupidity prevailed on this one. Lift only a handful of the most annoying restrictions and win by changing the bad mood and bad reputation this game has on the MMO playerbase, do not restrict but entice and always be true to your playerbase. Be close to them, free or subs do not really matter, because if you play your cards right and make people happy then those people will spent. Do not force them but oblige them. And be reasonable for a change. There are only very few of free players that havent ever played a MMO but if they have even a quarter of a brain they surely will not like the restrictions you impose to them, punishing them for being "freeloaders" and not thanking them that they chose your product to entertain themselves. Make them happy and they will pay. Else you are not going to get a dime out of them.
  3. While i still believe that selling UI elements is absurd and greedy, i have to give credit to the decision makers because this action is on the right track. I hope that they ll do the same to F2Ps and soon, it will benefit the game in the long run. This good decision might calm the internet negativity a bit but i wonder why ,and after all this feedback against the mentioned restriction, they did this any way? They might have gained some dollars out of it but all this bad publicity created by this surely cost them more that what they gained from. Again, good call EA/Bioware, only few things are left to do now.
  4. I do not post frequently and when i do, my posts are criticizing the direction SW:TOR has taken. But i want to be constructive with this one. So, ideas for motivation to get off the fleet. Dynamic events like a weekly treasure hunt. With fake or valid clues spread to the planets and even fleet. Different clues for different classes. Crew skills could play a small part as an added but minor assistance. Lvl 50s only. The player could need to spawn and fight a boss or some mob for the clue, or even PvP for it. Maybe the clue could be available at a certain time frame. It doesnt need to be voiced, just make use of a machine or in game computer like the dailies we get for PvP. Added clues could be given if a WZ is wan (but not needed) or when you finish a certain mission on the railshooter mini game. There are so many possibilities but they must be diferent every time for this to work well. The rewards could vary from PvP to PvE commendations or something like a social gear. A monthly treasure hunt like that could reward a mount.
  5. I am very sad and want to express my sympathies to all the people that lost their jobs, and wish they find a better and more secure job elsewhere. However, i hope that some of the terrible decision makers were included in this restructure, it was their fault that TOR seems to be sinking. Lets hope for the best.
  6. I ve resubbed when 1.2 launched after letting my sub end some time in March. I wasnt happy about the changes, the Legacy system adds nothing at all to MY gaming experience, except the buff ofcourse. Here are MY Important reasons why i will unsub again. 1) My guildies, my friends are gone or unsubscribing. We were a guild that run an operation 2-3 times a week, but from a point and on people were logged in only for that occasion. There was not something that could hook them in, and we were a guild that had 20-30 people active. We all agreed that the overhyped Legacy patch was a bunch of nonsense. Especially since the 1.2 nerf some of our Battlemaster/Operation experienced healers decided to unsub or wait til sub ends. This goes for our tanks and dpss. 2) Performance issues. Minor to mid concerns but in crucial areas. I had that nasty lag with my Slinger in PvP and in daily Belsavis areas that ruined my experience, while in other areas of the game i had no problem. They chose the wrong game engine, Ilum is a grand example of this failure. Before someone flames me for this i have a PC capable of running flawlessly most of the modern games and MMOs WITHOUT that kind of frustration. Too many loading screens fall to this category too. 3) Crew skills. I happened not to choose Biochem as a crew skill and stood by my decision. That was a grave error for me, even with the 1.2 crew skill changes they unnecessary complicated the crafting procedure (i.e. adding slicing material in armstech high lvl augments). Usually i play the crafter/merchant in MMOs with quite good success, but in this game it is a real pain and headache to make things work without being bored. Ofcourse the server population and class play a big role on these. The devs announced some additions to the crafting system for 1.3 but it really needs a bold overhaul by making things simpler. 4) PvP as of 1.2. I am not a hardcore PvPer but i ve enjoyed playing PvP before the Legacy patch. They way things are now (especially for my Slinger main tuned for Operations) is very painful and rewardless to participate in battlegrounds if i do not want to be a free valor target. It wasnt like that before 1.2. I entered the WZs and enjoyed PvP, felt i could contribute, now the gap is very large for me to fill. This comes to... 5) Lack of dual specialization. I dont want to change specs everytime i want to do PvP AND pay for it. That is absurd. I want to try things and experiment yes, i could pay for it if i had a second spec to work on. It is credit cost and boring to respec every time. 6.) Leveling alts is boring. I enjoy the class stories very much, no complain about that, but doing all those boring world quests again and again is really boring. Few quest stood out of it namely the Black Bisector ones, the others are a pain to do. Something like and experience mechanism for alts should be from launch at least to minimize the need to do all those world quests. Also some quests are very WoW like and i hate the dailies as an obligation to gear up. I hate the dailies, over all. 7) Space fight. Unimaginative rail shooter. I ve played a lot of space sims in my gaming history like Tie Fighter or Wing Commander. I kind of expected something like this, and if that had a PvP element it would be awesome. But it isnt. 8) Bugs. So many bugs. Patches that fix some bugs and introduce new ones. Oh. I believe SW:TOR holds so much promise to be GREAT MMO. The class stories are very good, i like the non auto attack combat system, some planets were great to watch and play, i have no complain for flashpoints and operations they are well made (aside from Bugs), some group quest content is great. I like that i had the pleasure of experiencing them, but i am not satisfied with the game as much as would have. I dont know what Bioware/Mythic can do about those issues but i ll wait till my sub ends and hope for the best things to come and bring back so many nice people that have left the game. Forgive me for any typos or grammar mistakes. English is not my native language.
  7. I am certain that the long-awaited 1.2 patch will determine the future of SW:TOR. Lets hope it will be worth waiting for.
  8. I m in a small casual guild of 30 people that has created a great relationship amongst it's members, many of us met on playing SW:TOR and quickly became friends, thanks to this game. Yesterday we had our monthly guild meeting and we talked about our future here. A small minority (4 peeps) said they are not happy with TOR or on what 1.2 brings so they will not resub, and an equal minority was satisfied from the game so far. The rest of us decided to give SW:TOR a chance till 1.2 hits and we actually see all those things the devs are making for us, but we are all very frustrated from the lack of variety in endgame content. Other issues mentioned were the large number of bugs and the lack of basic functions, few of them addressed(?) in 1.2. Allthough we like the story content in TOR we find that making alts is not as immersive as the first time. We agreed to do the usual events as Operations and PvPs but we are focused to spent our time on other MMOs just to pass time till 1.2 hits live. So the majority of our guild will stick around. To my understanding 1.2 will determine the future of this game. If it is successfull then people will resub and more people will come, if it is not, well there is a huge MMO market out there....
  9. Always nice to see devs responding, especially mr Zoeller. But.. The so called ranged defence of 20% or so applies only to ranged attacks, in other words Snipers/GSs. In reality very few play Snipers/GSs so we are not having a great defense ability. As for the Crouch/Take Cover mechanic, i use the middle button as a convenient and fast way to get into cover but by adding one more button to my over-buttoned abilities, just for doing the needed action is one button too much (Even if i could switch the middle button to Crouch is still an unforgiving annoyance). As noted by many SN/GSs there is an issue while taking cove on a ledge or on some obstacles that is very time consuming and it leads to certain death on most occasions. I like PvPing with my GS, i have great time most of the time, but those bugged mechanics and some more, are causing me frustration. As for our DPS, as stated in so many threads concerning the matter, we can do good damage but there are other classes that do the same and have more utility and/or survivability than the SN/GS. I m not asking for a buff but i would like to see some changes addressing all those real issues.
  10. All i can read on those Q&As is : Dont leave folks, we ll fix them in 1.2. Issues that should have been addressed BEFORE launch. Bugs noted from beta testers. Fundamental MMO appliances that should have been from the start. And i have no faith n the so called "strike team" to solve all those bugging PERFORMANCE issues, an problem that should be addressed BEFORE launch too. Seriously, they stopped those guns from firing to boost performance? A joke. As for Ilum, a huge failure, three months of childish experimentation. No imagination, bad ideas, just a stupid kill grind. They just do not know what they are doing, they try one thing and pray it works. I really like this game, i had a great time leveling. I enjoy WZ PvP and i am no PvPer, i like the flashpoints and operations (i think that HM Operations should be more rewarding just for replayability) but the number of Bugs in this game (hello SOA the bugged one) are making my gaming experience very frustrating. I am waiting for the crew skills additions and i hope that we ll see many fixes on GTN and UI. But i have lost faith on the devs. They had 4 years to make this game and now they come to address fundamental problems which could be avoided, in 2 months time? I dont think so.. I welcome the new content but i am very sure that it will add its own amount of new bugs. I m thinking on staying a couple of months to see if they are going to fix most of the issues but i do not like to be a paying Beta Tester.
  11. Good thread. Good discussion. Sundragon poses the right questions to be anwered, for a World PvP fix. If i may add a fourth one. After we implement our ideas, can they run it or it will turn to a slideshow?
  12. This is my experience on Ilum world PvP, some will find it familiar. Happens every time. 1) I get the daily from fleet. 2) Get to Ilum. 3) Find out on what instance the zerg is. 4) Join and wait at the Rep Base. 5) Imps come we kill some, they kill some. 6) At the same time "slide show" starts. (bad fps, lag etc) 7) Some times i get CTDed, some not. 8) Chase imps till the half of the map, some kills on each side. 9) Go back to Rep base. Repeat till 30 kills are done. Note that i have never participated in a "trade kill exploit" nor i will ever do but the way things are played now on Ilum feel just like we are exploiting. I dont know about you but this is not my idea for World PvP, and this is not "Blowing my mind". If this "works as intended" then i do not like or enjoy the devs intends. Dont get me wrong, i really like this game, and i do enjoy WZ, win or lose them i dont really care. But they really-really need some new ideas for world PvP, and i hope those ideas will come the same time they fix their troublesome engine problems also. And they really have to redouble their efforts for those fixes....
  13. Quoting: "DarthBelkar: Can we look forward to server-wide special seasonal / short-term events? Daniel Erickson: Yes! Expect them to fit into the world and setting, involve a fair bit of discovery, and offer special rewards that will be there one day and then gone forever. And expect them soon." And asking the devs having a serious consideration: What about those people that have not the pleasure to log in daily but only a few days in a week due to their heavy work schedule, such as myself or have some unexpected engagement the event day? Would those events last a reasonable period to be done or we just have to be lucky the day they are on?
  14. I will definately resub. I ve made a lot of new friends here, i am in a good guild and i like the content of this game. Overall, i am having a very good time here and i like where SWTOR seems to be heading However, i am still frustrated by the countless bugs of this game. Ilum is a mess, for me this is not a mindblowing experience but a slideshow that leads to CTD every time i go there. Memory leaks, lag issues and bugs are ruining my experience but i am trying to be patient about it. The ideas they had on Ilum are totally wrong, the devs never planned this World PvP correctly. The engine used on this game still needs a ton of work to be polished and there is a serious issue of bad coding. Still, i admit that they are trying to work thing out and fix all those frustrating issues, but they must redouble their efforts, fixes are coming slow. Some elements promised for 1.2 should have been at launch, like guild bank, but those are minor issues. I do prefer for them to fix bugs (Hello Soa) than release new (and some times buggy) content. I can accept that this is a new game and as of all new games, bugs happen.
  15. Although OP offers some valid points of consideration, things with GS SS are not as bad as they seem. IMHO, cover which is our ability trigger, should be faster and should have some other damage defense bonuses and not only vs ranged attacks. Nothing too high or extreme of course, but something that will slightly help us withstand other forms of damage. The 3sec dodge ability is a laugh, not very useful on PvP, a little help on PvE. For PvP, GS SS takes a supportive role that promises high damage but it all comes down to positioning, energy management and luck. Sometimes you get into a nice spot, depending on how the battle goes and sometimes you dont, so you have to adapt to the fight. Fighting is not easy when you have spent all your CCs and you depend on your groupmates to help out, just like when you help them out with your dps. As for the PvE part, the Gunslinger SS is a good and useful member on any operation team. brings the crit buff and high DPS just as intended. Current Operation fights favor the ranged classes so even an average GS (i consider myself as such) can shine. The class is more difficult to master and more demanding than any other classes on swtor, but is a fun class to play.
