  1. Name: William Shaffer Gender: Male Species: Human, (Cybernetic eyes) Age: 24 Likes: Honesty, bluntness, sarcasm, open-mindedness, pragmatism Dislikes: Lying, stealing, cheating, being cruel for no reason, sugarcoating, stupidity Gifts- Loves- Republic Memorabilia, Cultural Artifacts. Likes- Technology, Imperial Memorabilia, Military Gear. Sort-of-likes- Courting (From females), Neutral- Trophies, Underworld Goods, Weapons Primary Stat: Cunning Secondary Stat: Endurance Primary Weapon: Blaster Pistol Secondary Weapon: Blaster Pistol Background: Born on Ord Mantell, William moved off of Ord Mantell when the Separatist Movement struck the spaceports, and he was moved to Coruscant at age 8. Since then, William has had tried stints as almost everything, mercenary soldier, goods smuggler, accountant and so on. He is well travelled, having been to every inhabitable planet in the Coreward Worlds and most of Hutt Space. Since age 19, he's found his calling working as a journalist for the Galactic Chronicle, a galaxy-wide neutral holonews. As of now, he's a recently promoted Assistant Editor for the Chronicle, and is known for his seeming lack of biases and his bluntness when it comes to touchy issues, an obvious remnant of his Mantellian heritage. Personality: William might come off as a jerk to some of the more sensitive, but he really is caring and is just plain blunt. His sarcasm and unwillingness to tolerate stupidity among his employees has earned him something of a reputation as of late. But honestly, William is a caring person and is very sympathetic to people he knows well, and he does his best to be open-minded, as seen by some of his friends among both the Sith and the Jedi. Notes: Assistant Editor for the Galactic Chronicle, Residences: Nar Shadaa, Coruscant, Carrick Station (If I could choose, I think I'd be a Consular or Knight's companion. William has friends in the Sith, but he wouldn't stay on any of their ships...)
  2. I didn't dumb it down. It was that deep from the beginning.
  3. Light side is good, dark side is bad. When the dark side bites you, you turn evil. Dark and Light are in eternal conflict. That's basically the depth of these "symbols". Most fans already knew most of this... >.>
  4. I keep telling myself Anakin was on something... Only saw a little of that.
  5. Don't get me wrong, when I am in a mood for watching people beat one another up, I'll dust off my CW dvds and watch them. They are fun in their own right, but in terms of sheer story, I'd take TCW.
  6. "Do or do not, there is no try: A lesson in lifting your starfighter out of a swamp." By Master Yoda. (Published posthumously) "Mastering the Challenging Language of Gunganian" By Boss Nass, foreward by Jar Jar Binks. "Frozen in Carbonite: Meditations in suspended animation" By Han Solo "Ergonomic Chairs: The Menace of the Galaxy" Anonymous
  7. I watch it casually, but I will say it did. The story arc involving the Cathar slavers (Well, cat-people, pretty sure they are Cathar) was really good. As well as the Umbara Clone Trooper arc, despite it's predictable ending, was really interesting and actually made you think. Early on, I will admit that it was kind of lackluster, I think that it's improved though. Okay, so that point is moot, but I still dislike Durge. I thought he was cool until he took a lightsaber wound and instantly healed himself. In my mind, if they have to do that to a villain to make him seem "dangerous", then they've kind of failed.
  8. /facepalm Just make vendors to purchase these at if you are going to do this Bioware... This is just silly.
  9. I might be wrong, but I thought that the IG's were running around taking out the clone lancers while HE went over and took out the artillery solo... I will have to watch them again.
  10. I dislike Durge to the highest degree. He was literally put in there to be an "unstoppable" character. I mean really, one bounty hunter can take out an entire array of Clone Artillery... And then proceed to never die, but can simply put himself back together?
  11. Old Clone Wars = Action packed sound bites that were good to just watch to watch things get blown up. (i.e. Mace Windu taking on an entire army of droids without a lightsaber, or Durge's constant putting himself back together just to get his butt kicked.) New Clone Wars = Wasn't a fan until Cad Bane came around. Now it's a lot better than it used to be. Becoming a more coherent narrative, with interesting stories. (Ahsoka being hunted by Trandoshans, Cad Bane taking the senate hostage without needing to be "Mr. lightning lightning cackle bad guy", pretty much all the Clone Trooper story arcs...) See, this is where we disagree. You just want pure action and "explosions", which is perfectly all right. I prefer something that I can make sense out of. "Why was Mace Windu fighting an entire army of droids without a lightsaber exactly? What does this add to the story?" "How come Shaak Ti can hold off an entire ARMY of magna droids... While Obi Wan and Anakin are able to take on two...?"
  12. Let me emphasis 1. I have a mid-level Merc, and goodness I am thankful I levelled a Smuggler to 50 first. I lack interrupts, so when the bad guy is beginning his big heal and me without my electrocute... Bam! A much needed interrupt for a class without them.
  13. I wonder how long it took you to intentionally misspell all of those words...
  14. Isn't the Empire an entire faction of villains?
  15. /signed I was doing my companion quests for all my companions, doing the Risha romance and ignoring the Akaavi Romance, just focusing on her story, 3rd convo in with her... "Are you trying to court me?" /facepalm I told her no, and went on with the Risha Romance, and suddenly Akaavi busts in... "Cheater!" In my mind I am saying, "No Akaavi... I let you on my ship... That does not mean I wanted to sleep with you... I let Corso onto my ship, and I have no romantic interest in him... I let GUSS onto the ship... GUSS TUNO!" And so I had to dump a girl I never had a romantic interest in.
  16. I think it was more like a disgruntled Raider... Jussayin'. Most die-hard RPers don't know how take down the boss at the end of the bank. (Bad joke, I know. I tried.)
  17. Maybe the Commando can set up their Assault Cannon up on top of the cover and rise and duck as the battle goes on, or maybe make a rifle-spec for Commandos based around using cover. Mercs could maybe be the same way, for them, it could be kind of easy. I agree, cover needs to be capitalized on. Heck, it could make SWTOR that much more a unique game if it's an important aspect of it rather than just an extra survival method for Snipers/Gunslingers.
  18. What I like about the game: The stories- They are well written, and after playing MMO's like WoW where the story is literally just a way to introduce new bosses, I am glad we have something better. I hope Bioware continues adding to the stories as much as they can and keep them interesting. PVP- I hated PVP in WoW. HATED IT. Even though I am usually in the upper tier in terms of deaths on my team, I am enjoying PVP in SWTOR a lot more, mainly because I can consistently do something significant. Someone planting a bomb on the door? DEUX EX MACHINMA! Stopped him! Novare Coast- This one deserves a shout-out to Bioware. I still haven't figured out the best strategy for it yet, but I enjoy it immensely. Unlike Civil War, you can come back and win it even when you look like you are about to lose. The capping system is desirable, terrain actually plays a significant role in the battle, and it allows a number of different strategies to be used. The Legacy System- I enjoy it. I keep rearranging my tree, and I am glad to see that Bioware's broken down the species-class barriers, at least for a price. My Mirilian Agent is 1/3 of the way to being here... Glad to see it will be expanded upon in 1.3 What I "dislike" (or at least want Bioware to build up on...) Space Combat- It's a good "dead-mind shooter" for when I am a bit tired and just wanna blow stuff up, but I want to see this expanded on. Free-roam, maybe with a small campaign in it for extra flavor/story, and definitely space combat PVP. But mostly, I am just wanting a different ship for my Smuggler. Character Slots- Too few. One of the things I disliked in WoW is that I only had 10 slots, not enough for me to have all the classes for both factions. I understand the "one slot for each AC" idea, but I'd like to be able to use all the kinds of AC's both sides, since I play both Empire and Republic. Maybe make further slots can be purchasable via the Legacy System. The forums- I have no clue why I keep coming back here. Those are my praises/criticisms from a relatively happy player.
  19. Bioware: Okay, according to the forums, we are in a predicament. If we take our time and do these big patches right, then people complain that new content "is taking too long", and if we try churning it out, then it will be buggy and people will be complaining that we are doing cruddy jobs with the patches. We try giving RPers a cookie, and a money sink for the rich players, and people complain that it's all "fluff" DESPITE us adding a brand new Warzone, a new flashpoint and a new operation, which we have tried to make more difficult than the last ones may I add. Sure, we may be doing well in terms of the game itself, but these forums are just depressing... Blizzard: Join the club. "We want pandas! Where are the pandas? Come on Blizzard give us pandas? You keep making concept art for pandas but it never goes through into the game!"... So we give them pandas. "*** is with you Blizzard! What's with the pandas? Where the heck did you get such a stupid idea Blizzard!"
  20. Trooper: 'Kay boss, we just killed ANOTHER bad guy for ya... Ready to deploy to the next planet with the next bad guy! Garza: Meet me on Coruscant to talk about it. Trooper: ... I was just talking about the bad guy, saying the bad guy's name and location over this channel JUST a second ago, the bad guy you don't want anyone knowing about, and yet, you want me to go over all the way to Coruscant, take my speeder all the way to the Senate Tower, then RUN through teh senate tower and go to your office, just so we can talk about my next mission when we COULD be doing it here and now? Garza: ... I'm feeling lonely.
  21. Are you keeping them geared? And are you turning on every ability they have? Those are important aspects, healing companions suck unless you turn on all their abilities as you level. When I got Guss Tuno, the Smuggler's healer companion, I was massively impressed by his healing and wondered why Dorne never healed so well. Well duh, Guss had more healing abilities turned on for him to use than Dorne. Same goes for all types of companions, hence late-game companions being seemingly better at what they do.
  22. I hope that in Chapter IV (Post-50 content when it comes around) we get optional companions. Just think. By 50, you have... Your two tanks Your healer Your Melee DPS Your ranged DPS So why not have the option to say "forget you" to any new companions coming around? Lazy bum of a Bith trying to hitch a ride on your BH's ship? Heck no! Or maybe that potential Geonosian Companion insulted you one time too many? Go be eaten by a Rancor. Sure, people might get upset, but at least people won't be losing their only healing companion.
  23. No smilie could express the urge to facepalm I am having. The story might as well be the game for a lot of players. Get your facts straight.
