  1. Hmm... people dying in less than 3 seconds without being able to do a single action.. yeah that sounds like a rediculous reason to quit a computer game. Did you know, a rich general in Africa has £10m to transfer to the uk and will give you £1m for the use of your bank account. You sound like the perfect candidate!
  2. Easy. 8 Sorcs / Sages would lose every time.
  3. A buff for 1 class IS a nerf for everybody else. When will people remember that it is only relative strength that matters?
  4. Reading comprehension fail i'm afraid. The words 'up to' are quite important in the sentence. If there were only 2 options, queue solo or queue with 8, the sentence would read: *Queue solo or in a group of 8 players*
  5. Welcome to the world... You will soon learn that getting credit for things you didn't do is infinately better than the normal state of not getting any credit for anything you do.
  6. 'A sense of accomplishment' for clicking buttons in a mmo? If you get a sense of accomplishment from this... go outside for bit, get some fresh air.
  7. Either a game is intestesting and fun enough to be worth playing without rewards, (eg countstrike back on the day). Or a game motivates players to repeat less interesting content by giving them goals to work towards, (eg WoW and other mmos). The pvp content in this game is not interesting or fun enough to make people want to repeat it just for fun. Therefore, what goals are available for Pvp and are they sufficiently intersting to make people repeat a task that frequently isn't enjoyable? (eg playing a match where you know that your team will lose, from the first minute of the game). If you don't have a decent answer to that last question, simply saying; 'who cares' or 'i have blind faith in the devs' or 'i will only care if they remove goals from pve'. Is pointless, adds nothing and betrays a complete lack of understanding of the issue.
  8. Whilst I do understand why people dont want gear to have such a big influence in pvp. The point being made by many people about gear progression is true, significant and very relevant to the future of this game. MMOs have never been solely about pure fun, mostly because the stories aren't usually very interesting. If PVE gear progression was removed from the game, everybody would stop repeating raids. If PVP gear progression is removed, people will play far fewer pvp matches, because there wont be anything to drive them on after the 'fun' starts to feel repetitive. So what is the solution? Well, this is a bit outside the box I admit but... if there can be no pvp gear progression for your time spent playing a certain way in the game... then pvp should reward people with pve gear. Before you all start shouting about how 'unfair' that would be to pve'ers who have had to spend hours wiping repeatedly to get better gear... stop... think about the endless hours grinding out losing pvp matches... think about your own argument that people shouldn't be able to grind better gear that gives them an advantage in the game.
  9. Hmm strange, in my completely made up statistics 'top players' are of the consensus that smugglers are overpowered. Guess made up statistics aren't what they used to be. Regardless of the actual balance, games will always be at the mercy of biased players whining to protect their classes... one day people will learn that devs use actual game data when deciding whether to change class balance, not forums.
  10. Tbh you can count the number of honest posts in this thread on one hand. As usual, any threads with this topic always have people saying 'my class does 1 dmg every other class does 1million dmg'. The truth is: * the scoundrel nerf was needed, it is now good vs light armour and has more trouble vs heavy armour... working as intended. * Sages have lots of options to get out of danger / cc, but they lose 1vs1 against most classes. * Dps sages are one of the lowest dps classes for single target dps. (I would write the lowest, but dont know that for certain) * Sages are the best healers due to the aoe heal, but when played as dps the only reason for high numbers shown in wzs is due to aoe'ing constantly. (eg Not as effective as high single target dps unless you have lots of people aoe'ing simultaneously). * The classes are balanced enough that the only imporant factor is gear. If you are in centurion and you are fighting somebody in battlemaster. You WILL lose. * Most people posting in threads like this see a battlemaster killing people in greens and then instantly make an uninformed assumption that class x is overpowered.
  11. There are several flaws in your points. 1) It isnt 'player A' it is TEAM A thinks they all have no chance. So it is not about an individual being selfish, it is a whole GROUP of people who signed up to do something fun but then end up being forced to have a miserable gaming experience... if you arent having fun in a game... you eventually quit the game. 2) Currently the usual options are actualy: a) help your team even though you know you it will be boring and miserable because there is no fun in taking part if there is no chance of winning. b) do something else that is less boring and either .... still gets you some reward (aka going afk) or doesnt but frees you of the slight guilty concience (aka dropping out). There are no GOOD options, just unhappy ones. If a player logs in to de-stress / enjoy themselves and find that all their choices are unhappy ones... they will stop logging in / joining pvp queues.... (apologies for stating the obvious). The idea of punishing people who leave or go afk will simply make the decision to give up on the game easier for those people. They were willing to give things a chance, they were even willing to sit through a no-hope pvp match occasionally, they want to continue playing with their guild mates... but now, with even more issues added to remove their fun.... well.... do they have the common sense to go out and do something else that is enjoyable with their life? ..... hmm As i type this it has occured to me that I sound like im about to quit the game... perhaps... I dont intend to ... but there is only so long that any person will carry on spending their precious, free time playing games that arent fun.
  12. I delibertately didnt go into how it would work in practice.. but yeah it would have to be majority voting. So a) it couldnt be 'abused hardcore' b) If i remember rightly, WAR had a way of conceeding and it didnt end up in arguments. If the match is going so badly that 50% / 75% of people dont want to play anymore.... any random delusional people will not win the argument. c) Any other system just encourages people to go afk.... as i type this im sitting on a capped point and not even looking at the match because i know for a certainty that my team has zero chance of winning. Any system can be abused, the alternatives would be worse.
  13. Oh yeah and it would also remove the issue of being dumped into losing warzones where you have no hope of winning.
  14. We all know there are problems with the current pvp. These problems cause players to leave or go afk. The idea of being able to kick people from the group is extremely risky and if it gets abused, will put the final nail in the coffin. However.... what about if teams were able to conceed? This would allow teams that have no hope of winning to give up, collect their current medals and move on to the next match. Nobody would get kicked, nobody would have to leave or go afk and the winning side wouldnt mind because they would win faster... everybody wins..... This seems to me like by far the best option.
  15. The answer to, does winning 2vs1 against equal skilled and geared opponents = op? Is yes. I am a sage and I have no idea what the second ranged stun is supposed to be, unless you count force lift, which really shouldnt count because it breaks on damage. And no you CANT do good damage AND good healing as a sage. You either spec for healing or you spec for damage. If you try to spce for both, do you do both badly. I suspect the problem is that the meddles in pvp are set so low that even a non healer can get the healing meddles without any difficulty and vice versa. As a sage the only class I really fear are operatives coming out of stealth, does that mean the class is OP? Not really, I know my abillities and playing hundreds of wzs teaches you what to do in what order... its not difficult and can be said of any class, for most people. The truth is, if you see a sorc doing top or high dmg, it is because they are hybrid aoe specced. 1vs1 pvp or in pve, you really arent particularly strong. But if a sage specs for single target, you dont get the satisfaction of knowing that you helped your team as much as you can. The issue of lots of sorcs together being a nightmare is not class related at all. Its simply the disguised issue of having lots of ranged aoe together. This isnt new and it isnt restricted to sorcs..... its just that, in a game about starwars, surprise surprise, most people want to play the main characters, not some bit parts.
  16. Yes it is possible and as somebody who did most of my leveling in WAR online in the scenarios, I can understand why you might want to. The biggest problem is that there isnt enough variety in the pvp maps atm. War had far more maps (cant remember how many now, but it was something like 6 or 7) Trying to pvp your whole way through in this game would get very boring, particularly if you role empire on a pvp server. Endless Hutball would make you quit the game pretty quickly. Point of this post? .... the game needs more pvp scenarios to enjoy and dont try leveling only through pvp, you wont get to 50.
  17. As somebody who regularly pvp's in the sub 50 bracket I can say that: 1) There were a LOT of Ops / Scoundrels being played... eg people were rerolling as the ftm class. 2) They almost always topped damage charts, not that damage is everything but still... Of course people who are playing on level 50 characters wouldnt understand this nerf, the people who rerolled to the ftm overpowered class arent fully geared level 50s yet. But it is pretty obvious in the under 50s bracket. And yes, it is almost certain that they put bigger nerfs on the test server, so that when they only nerf the class by 10%, people dont feel as bad. Its called setting reasonable expectations....
  18. To be fair. This was a major issue that would have had a massive, negative impact on the enjoyment of a large number of players. To compare it to a very small, minority of players being unable to finish class quests because they haven't chosen to spend their points or money wisely, well.... the two issues aren't comparable in terms of game impact. If there actually were serious, widespread issues with classes being unable to finish class quests there would be a very obvious lack of level 50s, which the devs could spot a mile off.
  19. Wonder how many of these threads there have been.. think i should start saving my posts and just copy-paste them. Short version: People who do not have the skill or ability to work out the best way of playing a class need a crutch to play this game. So they ask for the meters. Good players do not. There is no constructive reason for them and a lot of destructive reasons why they shouldnt be in the game. If you are one of the people who dont think they can work out the best possible rotations on their own by doing some basic maths, join a guild and ask somebody who can.
  20. The main difference between open world and scenario pvp is that scenarios make sure that there are the same number of people on each side. Why would anybody who is genuinely interested in fair and challenging pvp prefer zerging / camping / ganking?
  21. A lot of people will choose whatever side gives them the best chance of being on the winning zerg. The only way you fix an imbalance like this is to buff the pvp combat strength of the underpopulated side. As was previously suggested if there were automatic dps / healing / tanking buffs dependant on the number of players in a pvp area, you would quickly find that the population difference would even out in pvp areas. This would fix the problem very quickly too, probably within one week.
  22. There is no valid reason to want a raid-wide damage meter or combat log. The only reasons (still invalid) are if you're a piss-poor player and you know it, and you have no ability to think for yourself. This is an MMO. MASSIVELY. MULTIPLAYER. ONLINE. You are not a single unique snowflake in your own fantasy universe, where your actions affect only yourself. Either man up and support the right for good players to have an advantage, or never, EVER set foot inside a FP or OP with other people because you are a whiny child. You do nothing but suck the challenge out of a good game and drag good players down to mediocrity. No to damage meters! TLDR? ... Only bad players need or want damage meters. If you are incapable of seeing if you or other people are playing badly without them.... well... maybe you have other good qualities.
  23. Star Trek Online.... the worst mmo i've ever played.... even worse than Final Fantasy!
  24. Ah yes... the 'unsubbed' but still posting on the forums type of person....
  25. The most obvious problem with your post is that you havent actually posted your spec. The second problem is that if you cant be bothered to look at the tool tips and divide dmg by casting time, to work out dps, why should anybody else do it for you? But yeah... actually post your spec and somebody might respond with something constructive.
