  1. That is one of the funniest (and truest) comments that I've read on the forums so far.
  2. lvl 39 infiltration spec. I use Tharan for two reasons: 1) Obviously, I like the healing (even though he's not always the greatest healer) 2) I just love, love, love his Holiday Projection that stuns. A mob of 4, I mind maze one and he Holiday's the another. I'm left with only two to dispatch. For bosses, I'll just switch over to combat tech. However, as other posters have stated, it's really a matter of personal preference.
  3. I'm currently lvl 39 infiltration and definitely appreciate the info. Hopefully, someone can help with a couple of questions. Believe it or not, this is my first MMO (i've always played COD or Battlefield) and learning all the abilities has been fun & overwhelming at times. I love the shadow and have no plans to re-roll; however, when I read your post regarding "Pop the prerequisites" it seems a bit intimidating. Do you really hit 5 different keystrokes to pop all of those or do you use a macro? I'm just curious and would like a little bit of enlightenment. Thanks
  4. I watched your first video. I had a couple of questions if you don't mind answering them. 1) What ability/gear gave you 3 force potency charges instead of the normal 2. 2) What adrenals were you using during the warzones 3) I kept seeing an ability or proc with 8 charges. Is that something that comes from better gear or it is another ability outside the infiltration tree? Thanks
  5. Don't forget that if you go Infiltration Spec you also get Shadow Tech as well. I'm a lvl 39 infiltration spec and I never use Force Tech anymore (I have several procs based on shadow tech). However, in PVE, against big bosses or soloing elite mobs, Combat Tech cannot be overlooked. Also, in PVP, switching to Combat Tech during Huttball is almost a must if you catch that stupid ball. Just my opinion, but Force Potency followed by Project and Force Breach is a nice burst of damage.
  6. I'm lvl 39 now and found myself wasting a lot of money on building stuff for each lvl, which kept me broke (getting the right underworld metals sucks and the market is way over priced for them). However, I changed gears and used the same mods and armor for 5 - 6 lvls at a time. I also started selling droid parts & earpieces on the market, which sell fast and for lots of $$. Currently, I have around $200K and I just spent $50k on expanding my inventory by one line. So, as long as you don't try to get the pink stuff for every level, you can make some nice $$ with cybertech.
  7. you made me laugh really, really hard.
  8. I'm not 100% sure, but I thought it only gave you 100% increase while in shadow tech and 300% in combat tech. Either way, I sorta agree with the OP to a certain degree. When the ability is active, I'm then dependent on a 25% chance for my shadow technique to make use of the ability. I'd prefer to have the lvl 50 Vanguard ability....25% increase to crit chance!!! Anywho, with all that said, once I hit lvl 50, I suspect I'll activate it as often as possible, because I'm a junking for damage
  9. I'm just not sure that taking two points in SV would equate to a 80/20 split between offense and defense, respectively. I'd say it's more like a 95/5 breakdown. Anywho, I definitely understand your position.
  10. Well, I see a lot of people using those two points in the kinetic tree (Applied Force or Double-bladed Saber Defense). Personally, I think SV>Double-Bladed by a landslide. As for Applied Force, it's a trade off between offense and defense. I feel like I already do a lot of damage, but my squishiness needs some help. Once again, I'm not sold on SV; so, I'm definitely curious to hear others' thoughts.
  11. I'm lvl 39 and I'm working my way towards the Upheval build (2/31/8). However, after going through 39 lvls, I keep finding myself eyeballing Shadowy Veil and wondering why nobody ever includes it in their builds. I'm also lvl 36 valor, so I've done my fair share of PVP and I can honestly admit that the extra 30% of armor looks and sounds appealing. Below is a post I read on TORHEAD regarding Shadowy Veil. Couple SV with Jedi Resistance (from Balance) and you're looking at approximately 6% damage reduction. Points well spent in my mind, but I'm interested to hear what others think. From user at TORHEAD Undervalued talent by most people, armour rating is on diminishing returns, so even though 30% of heavy armour is a bigger points gain than 30% on light armour, the actual increase in damage reduction is very similar In standard blues you will gain ~3.9%, full Battlemaster PVP 4.34% extra damage reduction from melee and kinetic/energy damage attacks which is a common type of damage So it's 43 damage taken off every 1k hit your opponent does, it adds up & could keep you alive for enough time to get one more spell off, and that one spell could hit for 3k+ so it may make all the difference in a close duel If you are full Infiltration build then you probably have the choice of 2pts in this, or subduing techniques/celerity, you may decide those provide more utility I am just saying this is not as worthless as it is made out to be
  12. We had two players on my server that were constantly AFK. Everyone kept reporting them (I sent 2-3 player tickets a day). The player is gone now. Now, I'll admit that it took a lot longer than I had hoped, but the player eventually was removed.
  13. No shadow speced in infiltration would ever use Taunt. We're already a squishy class; so, why would I want to take 50% damage from a sage or other dps player. You missed my point. Not all shadows can just switch to a tank in mid combat.
  14. This is a case of knowing a class before posting a deceptive comment about it. Yes, all shadows have combat tech, which provides 150% armor boost and some small amounts of healing. However, I'm speced in Infiltration, so using combat tech actually nerfs the majority of damaging dealing abiliities. So, I become a semi tank with no damage....not too viable. Also, did I mention that it takes 50% of force points to activate it. For the OP, better bracketing would help a lot, but you guys do have a serious advantage in the cc department.
  15. I have Mind Control bound to one of my keys, but I almost always forget to use it. I wasn't aware that you'd get metals for it. Thanks for that bit of insight.
  16. I'll make this comment without ever playing the Sentinel; so, take it with a grain of salt. Shadows Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Life gets much, much better at lvl 22. Force cloak and stun come at that point. They make a world of difference. Forgot to mention, life got a ton better once I got Thacken as well (you get him on Nar Shadda). He's a healer. I dumped that lizard tank so fast his head is still spinning.
  18. Well, you can always roll a JK. Personally, I love the shadow's mix of melee and force abilities. I actually find the JK boring....
  19. lvl 20 shadow now. the only time I use Telekinetic Throw is to hit a runner. What's that you say? Well, after administering a beat down on some poor soul, he or she takes off running. I then it the ol' Force Potency and WHAM....pebbles to the head. As for shadow strike, unless the find weakness proc is up, I'm fairly certain the cost vs. damage isn't worth it. Someone else can provide the specific math, but I think a Double Strike, Double Strike, Project combo does more damage (no position requirement) and leaves you with some force left. You could even through in Force Potency before the project as well for that added POW! just my two cents
  20. I'll say it since everyone else is beating around the bush....BS. No way you get 3 consecutive SS on a target in PVP. Won't and Can't happen. I'm lvl 17 shadow infiltration. No matter what rotation you use, force management is the biggest hurdle and unless the find weakness proc is up, a single SS is not worth it much less 3 in a row.
  21. Given the cost vs. damage output, I personally don't like shadow strike unless the find weakness proc is up. Just my opinion.
