  1. So most people wait till level 50 before they start crafting level 8 purple gear?
  2. I farmed her affection by sending gifts in the mail from my main and her affection was at 7000 when I was level 15. This hasn't helped at all. I will try doing the lower-rated missions of the same level. Hopefully that works out. Thanks for your advice.
  3. Hey guess what everybody! This thread isn't about Armortech OR Biochem! Check it out [!]: it's about how Armstech on a Sniper yields dismal purple materials for a long *** time.
  4. Dude, I've got three characters with biochem. One has been maxed to 400 since January, one is around 290, the other in the low 100s. I'm not leveling biochem ever again.
  5. Alright, I will. I'm just getting demoralized by this bad luck.
  6. I made a Sniper recently, and decided Armstech would be fun to learn from reading the description in the codex. However, Ive run into a snag. I'm level 20 and I cannot craft any purple variants of the schematics I have. Kaliyo has bonuses to Armstech Efficiency and Underworld Critical. She makes items faster, but does not yield purple components from missions. I've gotten to level 85 Investigation by doing only level 1 Rich Yield missions, yet I have not acquired a single piece of Nyasteel. It doesn't help that there isn't any listed on the three different GTN networks either. What should I do? Just wait until I have more companions and hope for the best? Wait until I'm crafting level 30 items before I can start seeing benefits to Armstech? Am I just having bad luck? I've done dozens of missions and haven't had a single purple yield. It just doesn't seem right.

  8. This is what I'm looking for. I would really like to see this implemented, especially the black book part, if an LFG feature is added.
  9. Thank you for your invaluable insight. Please stay on topic and don't turn my thread into another rumpus room. Does anyone have any clues about the LFG system?
  10. This makes sense. As I mentioned before however having even one person under-geared for the HM is so detrimental to the group's effectiveness they more than likely won't succeed. How would the LFG system take into account players that aren't properly geared for the HM, and queue repeatedly due to their lack of understanding or for their sheer ignorance in expecting to be carried?
  11. I'm curious about the LFG system everyone is demanding. Personally I'm a little apprehensive, and here's why. Since server populations have been low, and in some cases extremely low (my server has, on average, 40 players logged in cross-faction between 9-11pm and declines steadily after that), it's been very difficult to from groups for HMs and FPs, let alone OPS. Thus, I've been eager to join with anyone right away who sends out a "LFG for 'X flash point'". This has been extremely disappointing, especially considering it takes so long to form these groups now, because I've been unsuccessful in completing the HMs. I've discovered that no matter how hard you try, or how well you play, you simply cannot complete a HM of your target gear level with even one under-geared or fresh level 50 in SW: ToR. These FPs/HMs are so particular on being up to date with your gear, so to speak. Each time I've grouped with others for a HM in the past two weeks, we've had to pull along a level 50 -not even done their main story-line- in gear with level 44-46 blue modifications or much worse. And it never turns out well. If/when this LFG feature is added, will we be able to kick or vote to kick players from the team? And what's to stop the LFG system from matching myself and my teammates with the same individuals over and over again due to low server pops? Most of the players I've encountered this way were not familiar with how difficult HMs can actually be if unprepared. Unfortunately, the few others either expected and demanded on being carried, or flat out just blamed the lack of success on the other team members with columi or rakata gear and went on to find others to carry them. It doesn't matter how good you are if your only healer has level 27 green implants, no relics, a mix between green and blue gear ranging from levels 37-45 and a level 40 earpiece from the PvP Vendor; you will not beat the first boss encounter. Essentially, running a HM with three properly geared/specced individuals, and one without appropriate gear is pretty much the same as running a HM with three people. Because of these bad encounters I've become adamant on leaving any group (if not group leader) if one player does not meet the proper gear level after performing an inspection. It's much worse to flat out wipe time and time again on a boss and wrack up enormous repair costs and have everyone get immensely frustrated as opposed waiting some more on the fleet. I can see how the LFG feature could really help with the issues perpetuated by low server populations. And I can also see the feature adding more, very frustrating issues as well, while not curing the low-pop grouping crisis. What are everyone's thoughts?
  12. That's because your a sniper. He's probably geared-out, but other than that, it should be like 100% obvious to you why you take so much damage from a Jedi Guardian. The Jedi Guardian is one of the weaker (if not the weakest) classes in the game. They do not need any sort of a "little dial dowwards." In fact, they were already indirectly nerfed by the fact that the CD on sundering strike was increased to 5 seconds.
  13. Well you're the more experienced duelist. Smugglers generally have no issue taking down Guardians.
  14. Hey there, I'm all about bringing to light class imbalances as I PvP a lot and take it quite seriously. I also take PvE very, very seriously for that matter (but I never grief people, that's for sure). I'm not sure what to make of the whole rauder/sent debacle at this time, because personally I still have grievances with the Powertech and Operative (hehe I know, I know). To be perfectly honest though, you may want to specify more on which classes your having issues with. Because, as it is, the Jedi Guardian is in no way, shape, or form over powered. In fact the Guardian is one of the weaker advanced classes, and has been since launch. 80,000 damage is quite low for level 50 warzones, even for melee classes. I typically do 100k or more each warzone with my Guardian who doesn't even have full BM gear. If you aren't accumulating as much damage as 80k per warzone as an SI, you really need to rethink either your strategy or your build. 80k as a SI at level 50 is, with all due respect, very poor. The Sith inquisitor has the advantage on most classes. Especially when you're geared out that shield he can throw up can soak up an *** ton of damage. I've had at least 5k be nullified by it time and again. I've seen Inquisitors score 300,000 damage and 250,000 healing done in a single warzone. Your lightning can crit for 2.5-3.0k each tick! Dang! As far as I'm aware, Sith Warriors/Jedi Knights only have one offensive gap closer: Force Leap. At level 50 they can learn a defensive leap which is only useable on allies. Though, this gap closer can be done twice in succession, but only as long as their force push isn't on cooldown (Force Push resets cooldown on Force Leap. and then goes onto a 60 sec cooldown if not specced out).
  15. The fact that new 50s get stomped in WZs is not because they suck. They get stomped because they don't have gear with Expertise. Simple as that. Furthermore this is worsened by the low server populations, making it nearly impossible for new 50s to get geared up as they must face the same decked out premades over and over. The fact that you see a new 50 getting bursted down in seconds and assume they suck indicates you aren't taking into account the most important (because it's so powerful that it becomes necessary to acquire) mechanic of SW:ToR's PvP system: Expertise. Ergo, you sir, suck. In fact, I guarantee you are like many of the other whiners that come on here and spew trash like this in the sense that you were able to get carried in WZs by geared players, and now you are geared, resulting in your ability to stomp freshies. You probably have no real skill in PvP. I'd even be willing to bet you roll FoTM classes, farm up as much expertise gear you can, then brag about how good you are in PvP when you beat new 50s without any PvP gear. I'd really love to see a screenshot of your UI and look at how unorganized your one, maybe two quickbars are. Even better would be a replay of you using maybe 5 of the 7 hotkeys you keybinded while you click everything else. I remember watching a replay on youtube pre 1.2 where the poster claims to be pro, and all he does is spam tracer missle with mouse clicks and manages to wrack up 35 kills. You'd probably make great friends. Oh yeah, and considering the only place you can get the prerequisites for PvP gear is from the WZs themselves....yeah, PvP is in fact the easy ticket to gearing up. Jus' sayin'. You ignant. Don't be ignant.
  16. I've been saying this since like...forever ago. Powertechs are still ungodly strong. Today I won 7 WZs in a row. None of them had a Powertech in it. Then the very next game with a Powertech in it we get stomped. At high level PvP with high tier gear they are pretty much unstoppable. They have an ***-ton of CC. They can tank even in DPS gear; or DPs in tank gear.
  17. I've come to terms with the bugs and other various issues that had me down right hating this game for the past two weeks. Now, I'm finding myself really into this game again. Mostly for the RP and the fact that I'm using my imagination again instead of just griping all the time. The problem is, like many are facing, I'm literally stuck at my point in the end-game at level 50. I can grind dailes and WZs, but I really want to do HMs, Ops, and other FPs etc etc. However, the population on my server Ven Zallow was at 40 all day (server wide). This makes it pretty much impossible for me to get a group together for a FP or HM or OP. When the server transfers come, should I move off of Ven Zallow? I really like being on an RP-PvP server. Where does everyone else plan on moving to?
  18. That's what I expected this to be. That's what everyone sort of expected this to be. That, coupled with all the voice acting and cut-scenes. This was supposed to be THE game. What we were given, however, is an unfinished, unevolved WoW clone. I would happily trade in all the time I played on this game (which is quite a lot) for one weekend of SWG.
  19. Generally you don't sell items to guild-mates for profit. Everyone already has their own private business to begin with. You don't need other players' involvement in producing your items. The crew skills make it so that you are independent of everything, even harvesting manually. The main issue with economy game-wide (including all servers) is that the populations are far too low for one to prosper.
  20. End-game has destroyed this game. You all say dwindling server populations killed this game. Well, people had to leave the game for some reason. What is that reason? End-game PvP/lack of rich content. PvP has, and continues to be one of the worst aspects of this game. It's vastly imbalanced. And it requires you to cater to a mucked up system in order to get anywhere. What system is that I speak of? Expertise. Expertise pretty much makes everything you acquire, do, learn (schematic wise) pointless because once you get to 50, the only gear that really matters is PvP gear. It's too versatile; expertise encompasses too much for one stat. And you are currently meant to grind for it in one way, buy it from essentially one source, and strive for the exact same gear. PvP gear can be used in PvE scenarios just fine, by the way. Don't even try to argue otherwise. In summation this is what we have: a game that guides you along a path and dangles shiny things that it hopes you invest your time in to acquire. Once you get to the end, it comes crashing down very hard and basically tells you, "Sorry that was all just a big joke, now it's time to do what really matters: grind your face off for this gear that everyone else will have because all the countless hours you spent doing stuff prior doesn't matter." In the end, the question that really matters is: is succumbing to an ancient system of effort/reward really worth it? Grind, grind, grind. And if yes, are you prepared to face countless hours of pure frustration due to SEVERE class imbalances? Funny, even the die-hard PvPers who roll FoTM classes and grind PvP (and who also think they're good because they do this) all left because even face-rolling others due to sheer broken mechanics could not hold their interest long enough. Oh yeah, forget to mention: No open worlds. Don't even try arguing against this, just don't. Botched World PvP. INNUMERABLE GAME BREAKING BUGS. Dozens of lazy, cheap, graphical gimmicks. Anyone ever notice that the lightsaber blade is just 6 flat rectangles meshed together to create the illusion of 3-D? Look down the blade next time you get a chance. The water is essentially unfinished. The crafting system is dull; with a lousy, sloppy trade network to boot. Can't even bid on items? Really? What about all the random, unoriginal, uninteresting NPC enemies you encounter in your pre-50 grind? Enemies like: "plutterflume," or "razorron", or "sneaky goon". Animals/creatures that don't have anything to do with the Starwars Universe! Oh yeah, did I mention yet, no open worlds. The whole game -an MMORPG for that matter [!}- is a series of instances, layers, invisible boxes and graphical cut-off points. It's 2012, people. SWG had more, and was far more groundbreaking. But we get: Starfox 64-esque space combat minigame. No real RP. Can't sit in chairs, still. Emotes are horrible and very few. The Fleet cantinas down right suck. No synced up trade networks. One Rep, one Imp, one Neutral. Way to bleed an already dying economy. No player housing. That sort of makes sense though considering the whole game is a series of dozens of instances. Where would the player housing be located? In an apartment style instance on Coruscant? Maybe I shouldn't have thrown that idea out there. Let's not even being to discuss the numerous time/credits sinks like the Legacy system or pets or mounts or essential services like stim vendors and repair costs. Oh yeah, dropping 100,000k on skills. What you get when you open the box is a very unevolved, uninspired WoW mod. This game wreaks of EA greed. A giant carrot at the end of a long stick, while running on a very, very steep incline. What happens when you get to the top? Well the carrot tastes rotten, and you do it all over again because you're promised with one that will taste better. In the end however, the 200,000 people or so who left this game for good, were severely put off by the stinky end-game PvP. We're talking about PvP guilds close to 100 members who flat out quit prior and just after 1.2. I'm very worried about the life of this game. Between December 20th and January 10th, you had to wait in line (3 hours on weekends) to access your server. Between the next two-three months Republic fleet had well over 100 at any given time (no need to mention the staggering numbers seen by the Imperial side). After 1.2 the server population declined to about 40 on each side. Now, just two nights ago, the server population -in total- was 40.

  22. It's not really an issue with the crafting itself that a weak economy currently plagues probably every server. It's the fact that server populations are so incredibly low that no one can really sell anything anymore. My server had 40 people logged on two nights ago; that's including both Republic and Empire. With such low numbers, and the fact that the level gaps are disappearing (everyone essentially getting to 50 that still plays) it's no wonder the economy is literally non-existent. We all know crafting once level 50 is reached is essentially pointless for many of the craft skills. Who will buy anything off the GTN if they can make it from their main at this point?
  23. Sorry, not to sound rude but, I don't waste my time there anymore. I don't even fill out tickets anymore. Giant waste of time. I've had a lot of trouble with bugs since launch (guess I'm one of the unlucky ones), not so much performance issues, mostly just plain old bugs. I've reported each one thoroughly but in the end it doesn't matter. I either get closed or service droid "whatever" sends me the same message. I post here now for bugs, because like myself, users tend to try and make their own quick fixes for problems, and this is the best place to ask for advice.
  24. Actually, I just did a reinstall of the program earlier today. Do you think there's some discrepancy with old/new files of the same information?
  25. Short and to the point. My client bugs out hard. Randomly loading screens will pop up and stay at 1/4 finished forever. This also happens if I minimize the client and then bring it back to front. Occasionally it causes me to get 32,000 ms for ping, and then returns to the loading screen. This actually never started happening until today. WTH is this? Why now? I'm getting tired of these random, frequent, huge annoyances.
