  1. As a returning player, the current pvp is a utter joke in lower brackets. I'd say I'm surprised that Bioware has done nothing with the 30-59 bracket but hey, this is Bioware. Unless you're 50+.. more so 55+ from what I've been hearing, you're just fodder for all the 55+s running rampant in this que. You can definitely tell very few people sub 55 que in this bracket. I've done probably 30ish matches since hitting 30, only 40 and it's kinda lol seeing what the bracket has become. Generally 5 or 6 of the 8 in each match are 55+ with the remaining couple sub 55. Unless the player you are going up against is just a complete failure at life, you cannot compete with them at all. I definitely feel sorry more so for melee that are sub 55 in this bracket as they are just destroyed literally instantly. At least ranged can run or try when focused hah. That being said, it is rather humorous seeing some people rage in this bracket. which is what's kept me plowing through it. Little entertainment for you. So being a 39 lightning sorc, 1v1 against anyone 55+.. lol won't happen. Not what a sorc excels at anyways. So I do the only sensible thing in this bracket, stick with the masses, but at range or los;ing etc. This 56 maurader attacks one of our guys in huttball, I help < at range > to kill him. He rages a bit in ":say" about people not 1v1'ing him. Few mins later, rinse/repeat.. he just happens to jump at me up top. I knock him back < with the root talent via overload >, sprint away to another team-mate.. he follows, I los him again.. he dies again. He rages again in /say " wow big surprise, won't 1v1 mean again". This kinda makes me chuckle as why on god's earth at my level would I hah. Anyways, round 3. Actually skip ahead to about round 7 cause he kept coming back for me and I kept doing the same thing. Kite/bring to team-mates that are near.. he dies. He loses his marbles on the last death in say< You F#$K'ING NEWB B#$CH! WON'T 1v1 me.. YOU SUCK".. So it's things like this that absolutely make my day and make the 55 bracket bareable, at least for me as much as it does suck atm )
  2. So as the title says.. we seem to have run into a road-block on this phase. We get up to this phase with no issues what so ever and then it kinda all goes kaput after about the 2-3rd finger dies. We position our melee on fingers 1 and 2.. healers generally at the bottom with two ranged on the others. Initially we start with AE on fingers 1 and 2 then continue on to the healers fingers after 1 and 2 die which is about where the dmg seems to just be unhealable. Correct me if I'm wrong.. but no one should attack their finger until the rest of the dps are ready to all attack it at once due to the 20 sec count-down. We run sorc/op for healers with usually a merc/sniper for ranged and maurader/pt for the other two. I know on occasion someone gets hit with a purple circle which well.. shouldn't happen but does. Is there something we're missing or any small tips people might have. Suppose with anything it's just practice and more on the phase till it becomes clock-work. Just wanted to be sure we weren't completely out to lunch on what we're doing. Thanks in advance.
  3. Implementation of this patch is just lol. Coming from a pretty extensive background of mmo's/pvp.. this is just a utter laugh of a patch to oneside pvp so brutally of pretty much any patch I've seen. Warzones with 3-4 op's in them minimum on a side and seeing people drop in 1-2 secs over and over is gonna turn warzones into nothing but operatives very soon. The entire pvp group aspect has been destroyed with this. I did my daily on my own pvp op first and was just astounded at how quickly people dropped. Then popped on my pt and it was lol.. dead in 2 secs.. to be expected given what I had just experienced on the other side. Toss in the last match.. 8 operatives .. seriously.. I've never seen more then 3-4 of a class normally in a op on a rare occasion let alone 8 op's. At least the match was over almost instantly. My hats off to you bioware... guess I'll just play my op till Wildstar given how slowly you guys are to adjust anything game breaking or even acknowledge it. And then if you do.. it'll take you another year to patch anything. I thourougly enjoyed pvp up until this patch even though pubs pretty much smash imps into the ground on our server.. this though.. what to say.... I guess time will tell.
  4. Yes bad play does, that I won't dispute. What I also won't dispute is good sorcs can put up just as high if not higher healing numbers then operatives. A lot of the pvp guilds on our server run sorcs in them and are extremely effective. I guess they must be doing something wrong if they still compete just as easily as the others. I also won't say op's aren't higher then the other two.. but not by much except maybe merc/commando. Vastly though, far from it.
  5. There is absolutely nothing wrong with operative healers atm pvp wise. If anything.. mercs/commando's could use a bit more defense and sorcs a more viable insta cast ability on a short cd. Aside from that, pvp in general boils down to a ltp issue. The problem facing a huge portion of the people that pug pvp boils down to more then just one or two issues.... just a few off the top of my head would be.... 1) Never have or use stims/consumables < including bothing pvp defense adrenal and medpack one that can be used at the same time > 2) Tunnel Vision > completely ignore objectives or marked healers and attack the first thing that they see 3) Refuse to listen to people in warzones who are trying to coordinate things i.e Kill THE BULLSEYE, 2 peopel defend so and so node etc 4) Don't know how to play their class to it's full potential; yes this is a ltp issue. There are countless threads on the forums for every single class for both pve/pvp that lay out the best rotations for each spec, the stats you want.. everything and it's broken down extremely well. Reading any given post for 15 mins would do wonders for people 5) I can't count the number of people I see rolling into warzones with absolutely no pvp gear what so ever. Getting a full set of conq takes maybe 2 weeks tops playing casually. Rolling around in 72's/pve gear... yeah expect to get rolled and never be able to touch any healer that is in full pvp gear 6) Simple pvp mechanics that tie in with a lot of the above on how to split tanks/healers apart... timing burst abilities for when healers are low on health, focus fire etc 7) One that's helped myself quite a bit in dealing with other classes is actually playing other classes so I know what to expect from them and what abilities to look out for to interupt/stun etc... it helps tremendously in dealing with particular classes that some might consider a bane to their class Add all these up and countless more and you get the end result that you see in 95% of warzones unless they are premade vs premade... 1 or 2 people with 500k+ dmg and the other 4-5 dps all between 100-150k. If the other 4-5 dps upped their game.. did some research... fixed even a few of the above eg's they could easily be up in the 500k range and add up another 2 mill dmg on the boards = dead healers over and over regardless of class. I've played all the healing classes.. few dps and all classes have their strengths and weaknesses. Op's are not hard to kill at all if you know what you're doing and one good dps can destroy an operative solo. Bottom line, before people start to que que about so and so classes being op'd, they need to take it upon themselves to fix their own issues. Until I see matches where every single dps is at the 500k+ mark and one healer wether it be a operative/sorc/merc doesn't die at all, the fault lies on the people behind the keyboard, not Bioware. You want some tips on how to lock down a op.. keep them snared for 1... then they can't use their roll to go anywhere but a foot in front of them, dps them down to just above 30% then drop all your burst and they'll have no time to react, it only takes one good dps to lock down an op and if 2-3 can't do it.. you're the problem.. not the person playing the op.
  6. Hit the nail on the head right there. Aside from merc healers which I feel are a little behind the other two healers, healing for the most part is fine. DPS are the issue. 90% of warzones you do you'll see 3 or 4 dps that are lucky to break 100k dmg while the rest are 500k+ and higher. Any coordinated team can drop any healer even with guard almost instantly unless they are being cross-healed by another healer at the same time. The reality is even when healers are marked most dps just run around like chickens with their heads cut off and then wonder why no one dies and then run to the forums crying for nerfs. Are op's a tad above the rest.. maybe a bit but imo only against clueless dps that don't know how to time their interupts/stuns etc. A big part of pvp imo is knowing the other classes and their abilities. Play a few to 30ish and you'll have the gist of what their basic abilities are and then you'll know how to better counter any healing class and what to look for. I used to hate op's until I played one up a bit to find out what tools they had at their disposal and now it's much easier to deal with them. I play both sorc and op healers in warzones and have had equal success with both. I'd definately say op healing is a lot more involved then sorc healing but either one against good teams will melt you into the ground unless you have a team behind you as well.
  7. As a former pvp'er that's returned with a couple friends from a long absence to the server merge, I cannot comment a lot on people within the server. Back in the day on our old server we always ran pre-mades and things as a whole were generally equal for both repub/imp. Imps as a whole generally listened and did a lot more teamwork then they do now. There was also a mumble set up for imp side by a former Rawr member just for this which was used a lot by imps. Face forward.. imps are bleh to say the least. I see a large number of contributing factors.. population definately not being a factor. The biggest issues I see are 1) tunnel vision on imp side.. people run around like chickens with their heads cut off and 99% of the time ignore healers beating on the first thing they can tab. 2) Completely ignore objectives which accounts for a huge # of losses; they NEVER ever want to defend and will completely ignore and leave empty nodes if they see a bright shiny bar via their new shiny binnoculors on the next planet ; 3) imps rarely ever have healers and if they do.. it might be a sorc or two compared to repubs onslaught of operative dominated squads ; 4) Repubs have 10 premades to every imp premade.. think I've seen maybe a handful of imp pre-mades in the past 100 matches of which only one was good; and 5) well just bad bad pugs in general a lot of the time.. I cannot count the # of times where I'd see 4 or 5 imps with 100k dmg if they were lucky while the other couple would be 500k+ on par with the repub side. Of all the issues imps face atm I'd say #1 and #2 are the biggest issues followed by 3, 5 and then 4. Sure it would be easy to re-roll to pub side and join the faceroll or go to another server like bastion but it'll either be the same thing or just boring matches over and over. Having been on both sides of the equation before with the unliateral switches of balance, I can definately say the first reason we quit was due to utter domination in the end against repubs on our old server to the point where it really wasn't fun to play. Maybe things will swing around but imps as a whole need to fix their own issues first to get better.
  8. No one ever likes to see a class get nerfed and we've all seen what happens to a class when it happens. They get destroyed and pummeled into the ground with a vengeance. Yes I do think op's are a little over the top but it's not just the op's healing potential that is the problem. It's when you add guard in that it becomes rediculous. Mercs and sages even when guarded with focused dps can be dropped relatively quickly. A good op with a good tank and they are damn near invincible. Saw something rather commical earlier today in a nova coast match. Other team had 2 of the camps.. we had south and they only had a tank and op healer being sent to our node. I sat and watched 6 dps beating on this op healer for easily 2 mins straight before he finally dropped. Even watching the other pt try and pull the two apart did little to nothing as they were at each other's sides again immediately. I saw one cast attempt while targeting/watching the op get interupted and nothing else. Smart play on their part.. for sure. They knew how to use guard to the fullest. Even if all 6 players < which they surely were not > were keyboard turning monekys with no keybinds, there's no reason that op shouldn't of been obliterated. Point I'm getting at is the fact they can still put up 1 mill in healing being beat on an entire match and you might see their cast bar go off a dozen times. That in itself is broken coupled with guard which honestly has no place in it's current form in pvp. Buffing other healers up to Op's level would just break pvp entirely unless guard was completely reworked where it had to be strategically used and not just by pressing one button and not worrying about it again until you or your healer dies. Then I could see sages and mercs getting buffed up a bit. Either way it's a tricky subject. It's just about as broken as arenas atm where if you enter w/o a tank or healer and they have both.. you may as well /quit out.. Watching warzone pops, op's are always the dominant healing class. Seeing a merc healer in a warzone is like seeing Elvis again. Sages are a bit more common but nothing in comparison to ops and I don't blame any healer for not wanting to pvp unless they are an op. I pvp routinely with a couple op healers and they always laugh about how easy it is to heal. I really don't believe op's need to be nerfed into the ground.. just perhaps their abilities reworked somewhat to be on par with other healers where omg.. they have a cast bar )
  9. I appreciate the info and I think I'll just do the later.. do that with most classes I haven't played while sniper is one of the few I haven't toyed with. Thanks again.
  10. Just looking for some friendly advice as a returne when it concerns snipers. I've ran probably about 200 warzones or so in the past month as I've leveled a new pt back up to 50. The only class I seem to have any issue with dealing with effectively is snipers. Never had much of an issue with any other class 1v1 except for them. Now snipers w/o a clue are relatively easy to deal with as you can tell which ones have half a brain and which ones don't. Going up against a person that knows how to play the class though, I've found no reliable way to deal with them outside of los ranging them basically playing peek-a-boo while slowly whittling them down. Trying to charge head on generally results in a suicide mission due to their knock-back/root which I get pulverized. Even blowing my full burst < ap spec btw> with imo/rs/flame etc just never seems to be enough. Is there something I'm missing or are they just really a extremely hard counter class to deal with. Kinda makes me chuckle when I avg 5-6k crits at the highest at 49 atm while I see snipers in the 30ish range pushing close to 10k crits with 600-800k dmg in warzones. Is the class just a broken juggernaught of a class or does that change with hitting 50+? Thanks in advance for any tips.
  11. After being gone awhile and retuned of late, pvp really hasn't changed much. Just a different set of fotm classes. I'd like to think I have a decent understanding of most classes having leveled several to 50 and now onto 55 inc sorcs, merc, pt's, and a marauder. Back in the day it was PT's, mara's and sorcs and now it's operatives and snipers. Never played a op, got bored fast being a turret machine as a sniper < really a newb friendly class that anyone with 1/2 a brain can excell at in the early goings of pvp>. Now I know that 55 pvp is a different ball-game then the the other two brackets but having just come all the way through again with a couple hundred matches, it is truely astonishing how broken some classes are. Sorcs and merc healers are literally free kills. It takes someone with a really good knowledge of the sorc class pre-55 to excel in healing which I've seen maybe a handful in all the warzones. Mercs.. well I almost never see them. Ops are like the plague.. everywhere. They are definately killable but it takes 5 times the effort to drop an op if you're lucky enough that there isnt another healer near or tank guarding < which in a pug match, just leave the match, they won't die> as compared to dealing with a sorc or merc. The best you can normally do is lock them down and pray the remainder of your team has the brains to focus fire the healer. Balancing classes are not easy. Ops and snipers are really the only two classes I feel that need some tweaking. Bringing other healers up to op's level of healing will kill pvp if they go that route. How they'd go about bringing them down a notch to be in par with other healers is up to them I suppose. Ohh, they do definately need to add an option for 4v4 to be an option to que for. Never lost a pug match yet but pug 4v4 has a lot of luck factor on who gets a healer and who doesn't. The only healer that matters in 4v4 is ops.. rest are easily dealt with unless their entire team is competent which is rare )
  12. Myself and another 10 or so came back just before f2p to see how things have gone. None of us minded paying the 15 dollars at all. Everyone was enjoying the game again until 1.5 hit. The lag as many have stated makes prime-time extremely frustrating to play in. Would of hoped 4-5 months away from the game they'd of gotten at least the stability of the game under control. Guess we'll give it another week or so.. if it isn't fixed.. likely bye bye for good.
  13. Just curious if this Zigur is the sorc from old Space Plug and if so.. what guild is he with these days. Dravia still around in any form or shape? If so, lemme know if you could.. old guildy. I see that Rawr is still kicking.. guessing Shirt is long gone as I don't see much from him on the forums. Tahlee-Sorc/Shas-Merc
  14. Lol, welcome to a merc dps's life.. would suck to be on equal footing with other "pure dps".
  15. 1.2 was the nail in the coffin for our guild and friends that played. We only had pvp'ers left as of last weekend. We went from about 40 people on release and had 15ish left as of last weekend. Most of them played Gw2 beta on the weekend or Tera and since then, 10 or so have canceled their subs including myself. It's sad, game had a lot of potential but unfortunately all the mistakes previous mmo's like aion/rift etc made, were just doubled in this game. Wish them the best of luck in the future and hopefully they by some mircale manage to pull this game outta the gutter for the truely hard-core fans/players. If not, perhaps we'll see people around in gw2 )
  16. Your pyro's must be meh at best then on your server cause we have more then a few on ours that almost every match have 5-6k crits consistantly. Pyros definately have more burst then any other class imo and anyone that thinks they have 0 survivability, lol. They get the same shields if I'm not mistaken that a merc dps gets minus the knock-back which outside of hutt-ball doesn't mean much with such short cd's on classes leap abilities and ranged well, they'll just ranged you to death. Outside of op healers which a good one you need mutliple dps as a merc to drop, pyros and the odd maurader are the only two classes that present issues in 1v1. Good pyro dps I'll just run away even if they are at 1/2 health as I'll never beat their burst if their two shields are up.
  17. I thoroughly enjoyed both the pvp and pve in GW2 this weekend. Having 100+ people in one spot fighting with no lag was pretty nice. Brought back a lot of Daoc memories and I'll say this, they've taken a lot from both Daoc/Warhammer it seems which is fine. If you don't wanna stay with the zerg, it's easy to roll around with gank groups or just run around solo picking people off. Combat system is pretty cool as well once you get used to the mechanics of swapping weapons. Has a bit of a learning curve to understand how traits and stuff work, but once you get a grasp on it, the skys the limit on how you wanna customize your play. Over-all, probably the best beta from any mmo I've gone through pvp wise. Star Wars doesn't stand a chance on retaining anyone that actually wants some "serious pvp" instead of the joke of what 1.2 became.
  18. If you're arsenal in pvp, well yeah, you're a free kill once you're interupted. Respec to pyro and imo it's years ahead of arsenal in all categories. You have to constantly be on the move but your surviability vs most classes minus 1 is threw the roof. Use a proper rotation to manage heat where possible and there's no reason to not be #1 or top 3 every single match even vs double premades. Be prepared to have a lot more hot keys though, 20+ if you wanna be truely effective. Minus 1 or 2 abilities, you pretty much use everything given the situation at hand.
  19. I agree on most of the last posters comments as they seem to be the only classes I have any issue with 1vs1. A good maurader with his cd's up, /stunrun or you're basically dead. They have far to many defensive cd's and dmg to even try. PT's, try and go toe to toe with a really good one, simply put he'll far out dps you with burst. If there's room to kite/los you've got a good chance. Assassins, well it's kinda like the maurader. Fortunately the realy good ones are far and few between, it'll just take for ever to drop one. I run pyro myself, always have. Personally I think the only thing the class really needs for pvp is a interupt of some sort and a bit better heat management. Dmg wise there's no real issues and I really won't compare them vs other high burst classes like mauraders/pt's as they are far from balanced as of 1.2. I have little faith in bioware to address anything though so, just a waiting game really on gw2.
  20. Looking at only the bolded statement, either that is a flat out LIE or your system is bugged and broken. We've had several matches between huttball to voidstar where everyone on our team has earned 10+ medals.. been incredible games down to the end and we lose or win. Other side earns maybe 25 comms? Thats your idea of a better rewards? Do yourself a favor and fire yourself. You've obviously completely lost touch with how an mmo works these days and still continue to ignore the 1000's of pissed off posts regarding your new system. How you can sit there and try and justify your new system is just boggling. The system doesn't affect me much as I run with a reg pre-made and lost maybe a few games a night. When I see other guildies pugging it for a couple games, losing, and some cancelling their subs or saying screw pvp all together.. yeah... that's your CASUAL gamer which makes up probably 90% of your player base! They leave, well why even bother, you guys don't listen anyways.
  21. I'd have to disagree with you on the bolded comment. Sorcs were far from op'd. People are just really reallllllllllllllllllly bad in this game. Take a couple of competent pre-mades vs one another and sorcs were right where they should of been.
  22. Had a guildy who's a sorc healer and doesn't know any better that just started to pvp after the 1.2 changes. So he's completely unfamiliar with how pvp was pre 1.2 and now. He's loving it. Despite the changes, his attitude is "I don't have to worry about force at all, cause I'm always dead before I run out so I can just run right back in with full force again!" .. got a good chuckle outta it. Sadly, he's maybe 1 in a 1000 with that type of attitude.
  23. Not much, we had a warzone today where myself and a guildy que'd up. Got into huttball against a pre-made which was no big deal. Opposing team scored in the first minute and instantly, the other 6 people left. Didn't even notice it till I glanced at the raid frames and saw only two people in there..needless to say.... we both left hah
  24. I do really feel for sorcs and thank god I re-rolled after 1.2 notes went up to be ready for release. Going into warzones now, sorcs are obliterated even with guard. Out of the 15-20 names I recongized the most on both sides for sage healers, I see maybe 2-3 left that pvp. Rest either quit or re-rolled. Don't blame them one bit with this patch.
  25. It's a sad state of affairs for this patch. I've seen so many good people quit and it only looks to be getting worse. The worse part about it all is Bioware has to be aware of what is going on and hasn't responded to any of it yet. I've never seen as big a uproar for a patch as this was has created in any mmo I've played. It really feels like Bioware is trying to shut the game down or something. 75% of the 1.2 changes just make no sense what so ever. I bet all the other gaming companies are just sitting back laughing and laughing at what a joke this game seems to be taking. There's really no point in suggesting more fixes either. 100's of posts/threads have been made with logical suggestions on fixes that are routinely ignored. I'm a firm believer now that Bioware could care less about what players want and just pull random updates out of a crystal ball and patch them in.
