  1. capitol city as in the fleet? or starting planet? or Corruscant/Dromund Kaas?
  2. ^ exactly. I'm also not asking to kill a player in 2-3 hits. maybe 5. but it's pretty sad when they can literally IGNORE me as I hit them with everything I have. I should get CC'ed because they FEAR me. not to just make me an easy kill. at the worst, I should at least be threatening enough to make people quit what they are doing and deal with me.
  3. It feels like melee classes DID get a minor damage boost recently. Personally, that's all I'd ask for. the logic of which classes have the most CCs (mostly range classes) seemed like good intentions - bad execution... I think the design philosophy was "melee classes will KILL you so here's some CC abilities to keep them off you" but that was implemented with "melee classes hit like wet noodles so why is anyone even worried about them?" so yeah, IMO just boost the damage from melee and everyone is happy. if you want to get super technical, maybe give melee some kind of armor-ignoring ability in PvP...
  4. thank you, PanikSpreader, that's what I'm talking about. I have a level 40 Guardian (Jedi) and a level 34 Marauder (Sith) so I sort of know the difference. but my Jedi is a tank, so naturally my DPS feels a bit lower than my Marauder. Being the alt-oholic I am, I'm sure I'll roll a DPS warrior at some point and then I'll really be able to compare. also, I think play-styles and motives will play a lot into this discussion. For example, the warrior that posted his 5k PvP win (no offense) was clearly trying to get the most DPS and not necessarily trying to get kills. (9 and 0? though I noticed you did have some objective points, too.) but even THAT can differ... like when I'm playing with my Guardian, I'm throwing taunts and bubbles on my teammates and trying to get the most protection points, and with my Marauder I'm trying to burn down healers.
  5. well, now I'm curious. I went anni as it was so often recommended and I'm enjoying it so far. I'll say that level 10-25 was REALLY hard tho. but now it's a lot of fun. can't imagine Rage being more fun but now I don't know? is it??
  6. well, that was amusing. If the developers are right, the damage is going to be so close, we can't tell. hence all the "oh yah? my x did x-k damage so it's better!" comments. have any of you played BOTH classes? I think a more pertinent question would be "which class is easier/funner to level?" PvP is always always ALWAYS going to be circumstantial. but even then, certain patterns *could* be useful - if reported by the SAME player. for example: "I always attack big groups and try to protect/capture turrets in Civil War. When I play my Jugg, I rack up more aoe DPS, but have fewer killing blows. When I play my Marauder, I get lower DPS, but have more kills. but I also have more deaths." something like that would be more useful.
  7. QFT Here is my take on most of the "Marauders are fine" comments. 1. You are talking about AT LEVEL 50. Getting to 30 was a total PITA. 30-40 is a little better, and so on. But it's probably ALSO the case that 2. You ONLY talk about IN PVP which tells me that you are NOT QUESTING. which is where the problems with the Marauder class are the most obnoxious. So far my solutions to 1 and 2 are to PVP until I'm 4-6 levels higher than I need to be, and THEN go back and quest. Again, a little easier to quest *near* my appropriate level now that I'm in my 30's. but c'mon! stop saying the Marauder is "fine" when you aren't even playing half the game!
  8. I think the Marauder DOES get better at higher levels BUT the OP was talking about Questing, not PvP, and it seems like a lot of the responses have been "oh but I pwn face in PvP!" well?? is that ALL you do? because yeah, that's how I "learned" to play my marauder: out level my quest content by doing PvP and then going back and questing where I was 4-5 levels higher than the mobs. Do other classes have to do that? I don't think so.
  9. That's what I'm saying. the trade-off just isn't there right now. and until about lvl 30, unless you want to cry while doing PvE it's easier to out-level your content (doing PvP or space missions) and THEN go back and quest. now tell me that's true for other classes. oh wait, no it's not.
  10. Not the first to point out but... I don't think "easy/hard" is the same as "fewest/most key presses." at least when I'M complaining about the Marauder for example, i'm referring to how little damage I do compared to other classes AND how little damage I can take AND how few CC's or stuns I have AND how vulnerable I am to the other classes. PvP is HARD. PvE is HARD. not because I'm using 8 actions or 25 actions, I just get KILLED easily. I feel like the other (ranged) classes are full of CC's and stuns to KEEP ME AWAY from them - but ultimately that's just a big joke because even AT RANGE I'm not doing anything they should worry about.
  11. Solution should be really easy: let us do more damage. Make us dodge and break CC's. fine. Make us worry about melee range and mobs that are too spread apart. Fine. don't let us stun or CC anything other than weak mobs. fine. but when we DO get in range, let us do DAMAGE!!
  12. I think the answer to that would be to boost melee damage, just a touch, especially at lower levels. It just seems like for all the effort we put into playing a Marauder (in PvP AND PvE) the trade-off just isn't there compared to the other classes. If I'm clever/lucky and get past an enemy player's CC and end up not really hurting them anyway, what's the point? MAKE THE OTHER CLASSES WORK HARDER because they FEAR the Marauder!
  13. I don't quite grasp the concept of resolve bar yet. Who gets it, when do you get it, and how do you know that your opponent has it? That said, I have experiences like those mentioned. Like using my Inq-knockback in group of players and not one of them budge. Maybe I don't understand resolve, but you're telling me ALL those players had it? Don't get me started on trying to CC someone and having no effect.
  14. maybe that should be a qualifier for this discussion: sure, other classes HAVE lots of abilities, but you don't really NEED to use every one of them to be successful. unless you are a marauder/sentinel. just sayin.
  15. I mostly agree with this thread but.. I'm also starting to appreciate that SWTOR is *gasp* different than other MMOs. in short, maybe you're NOT supposed to get aggro from every mob, every time? but yeah, increase damage for all melee classes and i think everyone will be happy.
  16. totally agree. then there could have been a smaller gap between Ep1 and Ep2 which makes Palpatine's plans move faster - and makes the Jedi look less stupid for not seeing it coming. but movie wise, too, there would be better chemistry between the actors/audience if they used the same actor for Anakin in all 3 movies. and the love-angle wouldn't have been so forced in Ep 2. PLUS you can change Jar Jar's character to be more like someone else said about comedy relief - if Anakin had a bigger role in Ep 1. the idea of comedy relief is better tempered against a more serious or morally ambiguous character - example C3PO vs han Solo in the OT. Part of Jar Jar's problem was he wasn't really paired with anyone. If Anakin was a teenager - and a more serious/morally ambiguous teenager at that - it makes more sense to play comedy relief against that. PLUS PLUS the separation from his mother/not being able to free the slaves would give him more resentment towards the Jedi in general and Qui Gon in specific if he were older.
  17. I feel like a huge portion of these "warrior classes suck" threads could be solved with one minor tweak: increase melee damage. it seems like the classes are designed around one principle: the ranged classes have tons of CC's to keep the melee classes away from them melee classes don't have many CC's because they (should) have more mobility but it's major flaw is that melee damage isn't very high. so what's the point of CC'ing the melee classes when that robs them of, well, everything?
  18. fair enough, I am just speculating. if we could get some data on how many people play in PvP - and further get their OPINIONS on why or why not, that'd really help. of course we are just guessing that those that don't are not doing it either because a) they aren't interested in it and never will be or b) are interested but are frustrated by how unfair it is my suggestions would help b) - and possibly help a) - by giving them a different incentive to participate in the first place. for groups that already like it we can guess that c) people that love it the way it is because it's NOT fair and they like earning their way to the 'not fair' status or d) aren't trying to be 'not fair' but they do like being rewarded for their hard work my suggestions might help d) if they perceive the cosmetic rewards are still worth it, and well, it won't help c) as we are proposing. so really, if group c) really is the MAJORITY, then this is a bad idea. lol
  19. Good topic and good discussion. Sorry for the obvious comparison, but WoW has had years to get to the point it is now. When it launched, I don't think there even WERE any battlegrounds. several years and several millions of customers later, THEN they added BGs. so it's really hard for SWTOR (or any new MMO) to come out at launch day with X number of PvP maps and expect x number of players to que up and so forth. What BW has done really well (for the most part) better than I'd say even WOW at this point, is started from launch day with a really strong core of classes that are designed for "fair" PvP. what they've done wrong, we could spend countless discussions arguing. no brackets + all levels lumped together + uber-powerful PvP gear + not enough people queing = no where near "fair" PvP. so no arguments, I think, SOME thing has to be done. and so far, I have to agree with the OP: entering a warzone should "bolster" everyone to the same (class appropriate) stats. period. earning PvP gear should be about custom looks. period. fair and balanced PvP will be appealing to a large majority of subscribers. sure it might annoy the minority of customers that love ganking and getting cheap kills and I say too bad for them. create a NEW WAY of playing PvP. make it about "Republic vs Empire" and "I want to be in the best team" and "ranking" and all the other things that can be just as rewarding, just as much if not more of an incentive to play and keep playing PvP.
  20. I have my own gripe, and it applies to mostly Voidstar and Huttball, so it applies to this thread. get rid of the respawn shields. the maps are big. the objectives are spread apart. after I die and respawn, assuming I'm RIGHT THERE when the respawn shield goes down, I'm STILL a good 30 seconds away from combat. throw that shield up and now I'm 45 seconds away from combat. this leads to my other gripe that applies to respawn shields: getting kicked for not leaving the respawn area. more than once I've respawned, missed the timer and had to wait and so I start typing in chat and then miss the next timer (the shield is CLEAR. the timer circle thing is WHITE. it's easy to miss the timing) and then bam, I'm kicked from the match. just my 2 cents.
  21. you go to the fleet. as you leave Korriban, you should have had a quest to go to the fleet. when you get off the shuttle at the fleet, you should go down an elevator to the main space station level. you should run right into a quest giver that greets you and tells you to go to your advance trainer. this is NOT the trainer, it is a specific NPC that does nothing but tell you about/assigns your advance class.
  22. ^ this. I wrote something similar in another thread. from level 10 (or when you get to the Fleet) to about level 25, just stay 4-5 levels higher than the content. You can do a few space missions, a few rounds of PvP and get a level or two a day. and then quest. you'll get next to zero XP FROM questing but you'll get it down and out of the way with far less grief. by level 25 you'll get a 2nd companion that heals (except when he bugs out) and you'll have a few more barriers/aoe attacks and so maybe tackle same-level content. so yeah, it's not exactly fair that other classes can do level-appropriate content, but like I said, it's not *that* hard to level at those lower levels. then you'll catch up and have fun doing it.
  23. @RachelAnne that *might* have been fixed had they cast him in Ep 1. as I said in my post.
