  1. It was down on my end as well. Logged off a bit ago. I'll try again later, great way to maintain a solid customer base.
  2. Didn't get a chance to listen to the stream, but thank you for the cliff notes. None of this surprises me in the least, it's about what you would expect from a company with limited resources. What you have listed doesn't seem too difficult to develop and implement. As mentioned above, this is Star Wars and some fans are willing to accept this as the norm, the days of anything resembling an expansion are gone, preaching to the choir here, but nevertheless. lol This makes sense considering what little this company has to work with. This game going ftp and introducing the CM played a huge factor as to why this game was able to get by those speed bumps early in the its lifespan and it hasn't changed, so they're going to keep investing in it. This is right on par with what some of us expected, just a matter of the particulars.
  3. That's what we were told last year, whether or not that is what actually occurred, we'll never know. I've worked for Fortune 500 companies before, a lot of that stuff is PR, it's a moot point either way, the game has been passed off to a company whose only claim to fame was UO. The game is in maintenance mode, nothing is going to change that, but there is plenty of content to keep its head above water for quite some time and whatever little content gets released. If there's somehow a flurry of quality Disney Star Wars movies, this game could see a rebirth, but the Sci-Fi genre in MMO's is already a niche community compared to fantasy style games with mages, warriors, rogues, archers, etc., then you mix in this game's poor reputation which is nearly as bad as SWG's, it's unlikely things will improve. That isn't hyperbole either, almost everywhere I read, most people do not like this game and think it's only story driven, and no matter how many times I try to defend it on other platforms, noting that it's not the same game as launch, that there is plenty of end game now, people still don't want to give it another try. So after the first nine years of being a sub with this game, I come and go, if it grows again, great, it not, there are plenty of other good MMO's on the market.
  4. I'm aware of this and I've elaborated on why this game is where it's at now a few times in this thread among many other threads. ESO and 14 made the necessary changes and EAWare did not, this is a pointless discussion for anyone that has here from the beginning. We know why this game sits where it does, and it starts back at square one, launch, only for this company to compound mistake after mistake over the years.
  5. I'll throw some of the obvious ones out there worth giving a try if you haven't yet: WoW GW2 FF14 ESO New World Lost Ark BDO A couple of obscure ones that have been brought back to life over the years: City of Heroes Homecoming - Recently granted a license from its parent company NCSoft. Similar to DCO but with much a higher emphasis on character creation and builds. Well over 200 builds. Tera Starscape - Closed down a couple of years ago on the PC, brought back to life awhile back. One of the pioneers in the MMO genre with their action combat Ashes of Creation is still in the works Pantheon just announced a huge alpha testing period coming up for players, hopefully after years of work they're getting close There are bunch of good games out that there aren't MMO's as well.
  6. Pretty much. Looks like you were here close to launch so you remember the game from its beginnings. This game also didn't launch with a group finder, meaning that anyone that wanted to run flashpoints, had to meet on the fleet near the entrance before zoning in. What game doesn't launch with a group finder in 2011... GW2 doesn't have a dungeon finder, but at least you can form groups using their LFG tool, then meet at the dungeon. This game simply wasn't ready to launch and should have waited another year, but with how many years put into development and SWG's contract expiring, they felt it was the perfect time to launch SWTOR. When people compare this game to other game's launches such as the aforementioned FF14 and ESO's questionable launches, those games made the necessary adjustments, now both games are two of the best MMO's still on the market. There's too many issues to list as to why this game is in the state that it's currently in, but the red flags started at launch. This game has had a good run, and even if it continues to stay in maintenance mode with small content updates trickled in, it should still remain active for awhile longer, but it had the potential to be a lot more.
  7. At launch there were massive server queues, within a couple of weeks, additional servers were added which increased the server count to well over two hundred, people got to end game, realized there wasn't one, people left, then the consolidations occurred, I was there. The fact remains, if this game had anything close to resembling an actual end game, people wouldn't have left forcing those consolidations. You got one thing right, support was terrible, it didn't matter if we contacted them on the forums or on Twitter, it was lackluster. At least two story lines were broke and couldn't be continued, that was only a very small area of the game that was incomplete.
  8. Both Star Wars MMO's made huge mistakes with most of those happening at launch, then you mix in the fact that a Star Wars MMO is a niche genre, fantasy games such as the ones mentioned in my previous post are far more desirable. This game was terrible at launch and should have waited at least another year before releasing, but investors wanted a return. This game made too many mistakes at launch, it's that simple, not including the amount of money that was invested in this game. People were leaving in droves after only a couple of months.
  9. You've been a boon for this community for many years. Keep up the great work.
  10. If you were here at launch, you know exactly how we got here. It started with almost no end game content, no group finder, another SW MMO launches without space, the list goes on and on and on. Game goes FTP in under a year. The fact this game is still going after twelve years says a little something I suppose. lol Regarding ESO, 14, WoW, GW2 and many of the other bigger titles out there, this game will never match what those games offer other than a scifi perspective, pointless to compare. This game is still good and has a lot to offer new players, enjoy it.
  11. You might appreciate this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxU09gnBwEA I grew up watching those movies, got me into boxing for a bit and certainly lifting. Weathers was a huge part of those movies.
  12. Discussions are fine, you're not doing that, you're complaining about it every day, ad nauseam. The horse has been beaten thoroughly at this point. If you're incapable of figuring that out, which you apparently are, then it makes sense why you're still on this carousel. This shouldn't be hard to understand.
  13. So in other words, you're here to complain about the game every day, got it. Why would I know if you've run any 'legendary of the sith contant'? Don't know, don't care, and it's not remotely relevant. If you're not interested in running the content, because you hate it, then why play? Martyr? Masochist? Unsub and wait for something else to drop down the road. Your feedback is fine, but you're here every day complaining about the game, that's not feedback, that's complaining about it, your name is littered in almost every thread here. You have some serious issues, and it has nothing to do with this game.
  14. Look at that there, the same forum dweller that's here every day, shocking you would weigh in. lol If you're unhappy with the game, then unsub, this shouldn't be hard to figure out, although for you, it obviously is. You're once again preaching the choir, there's nothing you could possibly tell me that I don't already know. Once again, another pointless and redundant reply of yours.
  15. Regarding the gearing from 6 to 7, the quoted posted sums it up. If you didn't care about min/maxing your gear, then yeah, 6 was a lot easier. I ran all dps classes, all healers and all tanks, trying to min/max all of those when 6.0 dropped, including RNG amplifiers, augments, gear sets, tacticals, probably more I'm missing, but that's the gist of it, the gearing system was trash, other than getting to rating 306, which was farming Hammer Station and Red Reaper, high quality content and spectacular gearing system. lol Hard to believe this thread is still going, but with the ten or so regulars posting, not surprised either... lol People, if you're unhappy with the game, do what I did, unsub, move on, there are far better MMO's on the market than this one.
  16. It's Star Wars Story Min/maxing gear Running pugs as a healer, always interesting PvP Playing the GTN Probably more, those are off the top of my head. Overall, I've had a good experience.
  17. Probably ninety minutes as a dps running a FP years ago. It was around that time, I put a forty five minute limit on any queue that I'm in as a damage dealer. I've never been in the PvP queue more than thirty minutes though, undoubtedly due to my play time, which was usually during peak hours in my time zone.
  18. I wasn't in their board meetings, thankfully... but using the Hero engine wasn't exactly a great idea. lol If it was their way of cutting costs, again, not a good idea. What they've had to work with over the years, they've done a good job. Give it time when it comes to some the upcoming changes, judge it then.
  19. Wait until it's implemented. Over the years, staff has done a pretty good job with what they were given.
  20. The numbers have been around for years, going back as far as Dulfy, now defunct regarding this game to Vulkk, which is now most commonly used. What is mentioned above is accurate, the extra stats will be next to pointless. This new grind is just that, a grind.
  21. Sad but true. lol Nothing has changed in years with their approach, and once again, we're proven right. Good job team!
  22. Thought it might be you, not exactly a usual name. lol Legends is very active, not quite as busy as Starsider was towards the end of the game, but it's definitely active, including their Discord. There are probably well over fifty people that I recognize from SOE's game and there are always new players still joining. An option if you're wanting to play again or thinking about yesteryear. We obviously can't relive the past, but there's always tomorrow and creating new memories.
  23. I won't respond to everything as I agree with most of it, but I will highlight a couple of points. "This game has all the potential but its going to be forever stuck in mediocrity." This is why so many of us state our opinions, it's not that we don't care about the game, but it's obvious as to what has been happening, and it's been happening for years, this transition will not improve things, it's par for the course after reading the notes from the stream. "I'm honestly just going to stop playing for a time, I'll come back when the update drops and see what has changed, but I'm honestly going to move onto other games." This is your best option at this point. When asked why you're unsubscribing, make sure to mention why. I don't think it matters, they rarely listen to player feedback, but at least get it out there.
  24. You answered your own question, thus making your question irrelevant. If you're truly desirous of knowing all the legalities or parameters, contact someone that runs one of these emulators, although I find it highly unlikely that you will, you already have your answer. Two superfluous posts, good job.
  25. Nailed it. We've been going around in circles for years running the same content. From my understanding they're introducing something on the starter planets, Ord Mantell for example, that usually translates to, we're using older content, we'll give it a facelift, call it new content and release it. This upgrade is nothing more than a retread to force people into running the same tired content as in previous years, with very little sprinkled in. The main goal here to try and keep people subscribed.
