  1. First, congratulations on a successful launch. While there are some issues with the game the ones I have come across are mostly minor, not affecting gameplay. And as a grown up I do understand the need to get the game out the door. Anyone working in a creative industry can tell you when creative and business collide business always wins out. But you have managed to get the game playable and out the door on their schedule. Nice work. Next I'd like to say that you have done an awesome job recreating the SW universe. From the music, to the companions, to the skills, to the many different classes, races and planets, you have managed to put the player into the SW universe, and managed to do it without screwing up what is canon to SW fans.. Adding things from the EU was a huge plus. I was thrilled to learn there were Killiks in the game. I saw Episode 4 in the theaters when I was 12 and have been hooked ever since. My 3 kids followed suit. Right now between myself and them we have a dozen characters going on different servers. I'm going to need another PC if I want to get my Jedi to level 50 I get the feeling we will be playing for a long time to come. Now for a few constructive suggestions. Traveling is a pain. The taxi stands are helpful but I did find myself annoyed when I had to run back to a place I had been to 3 times already only to have to kill every creature on the way a third time as well. Personally I think earlier access to a ground vehicle would be a good idea. Maybe level 15 or 20. There are a number of graphic glitches, especially during conversations. Trees flickering and flashing in the background.. stuff like that. I had glitches galore on Taris, however I read that you are aware and working on that.. Datacrons. I happened to find one on Taris by accident. I looked up and there it was. However, I had to get help from another player to figure out how to get to it and when I finally headed there the creatures on the way in were apparently way above my pay grade even though I was level 21 on a planet marked level 10-20. It would be helpful to know how many are on a planet and a hint as to the area they are in would help. Everyone I have spoken too has needed some help to find them. Hard is good. Impossible is not. So far those are my only major complaints. Minor ones would be why are Bothans not available as a race? They make the best spies. And why are ship upgrades levels 1,3 and 5. Did they not have even numbers in The Old Republic? And this has nothing to do with TOR but if you guys are going to do another SW game, the Yuzzhan Vong have been ignored long enough. Their rich history is already laid out for you, all you have to do is tap into it. Thanks for all the hard work...
  2. In the beginning, with the exception of the Zahn books, the EU had some trouble getting it's footing. Once the New Jedi Order came along things started to gel quite well. From the NJO to the Swarm War to Fate Of the Jedi to Legacy Of The Force, all mostly good series. Not to mention Zahn has been writing the occasional book. And that man has a grasp of the characters in the SW universe. The only thing diatribe you posted does is describe the inherent difference between books and film. Plus added is own SW bias.
  3. Try the Timothy Zahn books. He is the best SW writer out there. Heir To The Empire Dark Force Rising The Last Command (The Thrawn Trilogy) Specter Of The Past Vision Of The Future (Hand of Thrawn Duology) Those 5 are easily the best of the SW novels. Then you have Survivors Quest Outbound Flight Allegience Choices of One There are over a hundred SW books, these are the best of them but there are a ton of other good ones. The New Jedi Order books were great too. As were the Fate Of The Jedi series and the Legacy Of THe Force series...
  4. 1. Jedi Knight: Outcast 2. X-Wing 3. Tie Fighter (why there is not an updated version of XvT is beyond me.) 4. Pod Racer 5. KOTOR
  5. have only done pvp twice by 27 for vanguard, but i do see that from the beginning there was "deserter punishment" which really put afkers in a spot where they had to work at it. Then the xp gain nerf came...
  6. tried knight, BH, Inq, Trooper, smuggler, trooper was best
  7. only ever happened to me once on ord mantell and certain spots on tatooine BD, it only happened in non-combat areas. Annoying, yes, but not breaking.
  8. i think they fixed it so any clipping issues with we troopers using interim JG gear wouldn't happen. I can see why you fashion-minded (to a fault) inq's would want this back though Coming from a trooper: Suck it up and lash it out at your foes.
  9. Actual translation: "Wow nerds are scared their game will be crushed under the boot of almighty ToR, and are running for their puny lives. Discussion?"
  10. kill the mobs and activate the thing before they respawn, kill them again and go back problem solved, troll
  11. Everyone raged on the BF3 forums about how sh*tty the game was. After week two and about a 1000mb patch, there was silence on the forums, because everyone was playing a "crappy" game I know, its a different story with big-budget, blockbuster shooters, where it happens in the first 10 days, but if you make it a little less extreme, it applies to most games, especially MMOs
  12. At level 27, with minimal exposure () to jaxo, i have to say i'm starting to lean toward dorne...
  13. mortars to make them scatter, and damage any lingerers, then pick out the biggest threat and use all my strongest attacks against him, use reload if i get low on ammo, and usually i end with stock strike, harpoon him if hes too far my universal rotation. In pvp i spread out my damage to heep enemies health medium-low so dedicated damage ppl can scrap them faster Groups: Mortars any area abilities i have, i use here. Normally i run in 10m range cryo and HIB sticky pulse shot a few times normally i have to reload here RF whatever recharges first, i use on highest health person, i then focus on them with whatever charges up, hammer shotting whenever i don't have anything charged. harpoon and stock strike and then just hit everyone else with whatever charges up Solo: Neural jolt, if im rescuing someone. Sticky. Cryo, HIB pulse wave or RF if out of range pulse shot until he goes down enough, using anything that pops up as charged, reload if i run low on ammo stock strike, harpoon if too dangerous to get over there.
  14. then hit them harder! yes, we have bigger delays for channeled abilities, yes our abilities aren't as pretty, but we as soldiers could care less about looks (apart from the individual colors of armor pieces), we are all about functionality!
  15. i went for a tactics-shield combo, priority shield, and found myself able to take on anything
  16. Sgen is one of the biggest factor in tanking. the other is that you're an attention getter; All the armor in the world wont help your friends if you can't say to the bad guys "HEY A**HOLE, OVER HERE!" When it comes down to it, you also can be an even better damage dealer then the commando (dare i say), at the expense of greater ammo consumption. In the end i'd say the vanguard's roles are: Tank, Attention-Getter, Burst damage
  17. Try being a vanguard, it saves your a** more than one hundred times. @OP I only use mortar volley when i'm SURE the guy won't move. if he does who cares? two shots still equals like 750 damage @ 27. When you're caught and have to tank, for god sakes, DONT USE MV OR RF!!!!!!!! Also, a Pgen is way more useful than a second gun. Bioware put these delays in for a reason.
  18. Lol, i just dump my mag into the strongest target and then use channeled abilities to give it time to recover. I then hammer shot them until an ability recharges. I typically go for the following: Mortar (when available) Cryo strongest guy Heavy shot cryo'd enemy Sticky most dangerous standard run up and use pulse wave Rapid fire pulse shot until he goes down clean up the others If im going up against one strong person: Grepple them in close Stock strike get some distance so they dont use melee abilities (cryo if dedicated melee and heavy shot) pulse wave Sticky if not dedicated melee, rapid fire Pulse shot until they go down, stock strike again if it becomes available
  19. Its like energy: it empties over time. The stronger the ability is, the more it uses. You can use a quick recharge when taking down big foes, but it takes 2 mins to cool down. Special shots have no effect on ammo consumption or regeneration. The more you use abilities in combat, the slower ammo regenerates.
  20. what's the coolest abilities you have? Single target, Area, Support?
  21. Don't worry about the conversation with T-7 eventually you will end up in a place where he will talk to you. It's not a mission or anything. I think I was in the Black Sun area of Courscant when I finally got him to spill the beans...
  22. You can get his upgrades from the "modifications" vendors.
  23. Bothan would have made a nice spy race. And since the Chiss are in there is no reason not to take advantage of the Yuzzhan Vong. Not as a playable race but for quests and such.
  24. As a tank/dps myself, i find that mortars are basically AOE taunts w/ damage. While not exactly lasting, you CAN taunt the biggest threats individually. The Harpoon also means you get the enemy's attention for a good long time.
