I took off my chest piece, both the equipped piece and the outfit designer, walking around with my bare chest, but the sound was still the same. I didn't have another chest piece in my inventory but I'll try to equip something else at some point to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion

Oh yes sorry, I meant to add that to my last post. I tried that but it didn't make a difference so I tried to walk around barefoot. Still no difference. Someone else even suggested that the pants your character is wearing can affect it so I tried that and it didn't change the sound. I checked another character currently on the fleet and did notice that the sound would change when she was walking on a carpeted area so it looks like it's not so much the boots I'm wearing but the type of surface I'm walking on. My main is currently on Nar Shaddaa, metal floors everywhere so it makes sense that his footsteps would be louder than my other character walking on carpet but still, it's so loud! The last thing I just tried is increasing the zoom level to max thinking it would change the volume of my steps depending on how far away I am from the character but that also didn't do anything. I guess I'll just have to learn to deal with it.

Thank you for the... ideas. I assure you my hearing is just fine lol and I've played the game on several different computers so I doubt it's a hardware issue but eh, who knows. The one thing I was able to do in order to reduce the volume of my heavy footsteps is to move the sound effects volume slider all the way to the left. This worked, however it sadly also made all other sound effects silent so that's not a very good solution obviously.

I've tried this game on and off through the years and one thing I've always noticed is how loud my character sounds when I'm walking around. It's very distracting and it echoes even in large wide open outdoor areas. Someone on reddit suggested I get another pair of boots, which is one way to deal with it but isn't there some other way to either turn down the volume on my boots or maybe make them sound different? because the game is boring, stagnant, and not innovative in the least. it's just more of the same. i'm struggling to even get my lvl 48 jk to 50 before my sub runs out in two days. i just want to get her to 50 in case i ever decide to come back, but at this rate, it ain't looking good.

3/10 maybe 4/10 I am just so disappointed in this game. It's just copy paste other MMOs except they did it worse than any recent wow clone wannabes. And really, with a budget said to be north of $100 million, was $99 million of it spent on voice actors? This game is terrible, I'm sorry, it's just terrible. I had more fun in SWG even when it went NGE on us.

because don't you know, it's a new game, it'll get better, you're just being impatient, blah blah blah. i guess some people are happy to keep paying for dog food because the company that makes it keeps telling them that it will shortly be selling them filet mignon instead.

swtor made me resub to wow. that's how i feel. I haven't even logged in to the game in 4 days. i am utterly bored. wow is boring too but it's better than this joke of a game. i spent 5 hours reading about gw2 the other and if bioware had had the balls to try and innovate like arenanet is doing, then swtor would have been a great game but instead they went and copied every other mmo that came before it. bioware you failed miserably. and i hope you all enjoy this game. i sincerely do, we don't all have the same tastes in everything so i'm glad you have found your mmo home, but imo this game is headed for the discount bin and F2P land very soon.

I don't know, I got one from a quest I did on alderaan as a bonus mission, I was in my late 30s I think and I finally got one that sounded right.

Yeah people who use discussion forums to express their discontent with the game and give suggestions on how to improve it are trolls. You are the troll my friend, calling others names. The word troll is used all too often and has lost its original meaning, which was to describe someone who purposely posted incendiary remarks just to get attention to themselves. I don't even know why I bothered to post this.

I like to alt-tab to read stuff during loading screens, or to check torhead or darth-hater for information sometimes and would love it if we could have sound alt-tabbed to know when we've arrived at our location, or if someone has sent you a whisper. Thanks.

Yeah I'm 43 now and still haven't heard a peep from him or her about it. Plus I don't think that we have access to glee anselm or whatever the planet he told us to go get her on. Maybe one day. I'd love to see her again and force her back or beat her lol. Disclaimer: I am not a violent person nor do I beat, torture, or otherwise harm women, children, men, or animals.
