  1. Yes but even so, nearly everything we have (even with the hood down) has a cloak or cape. I'd say your best bet is re-modded trooper armor until you're able to get pvp armor, which doesn't have a cape at all.
  2. Since when was JK the hardest to play? Maybe sentinel, but not guardian. Playing my shadow requires a lot more attention so far, and there's less room for error. That being said, I think guardian play is more fun for that very reason. I get to enjoy leaping around and pummeling things (like a Jedi) rather than constantly being concerned about what procs I have up. I love my shadow, but playing a guardian is more fun and feels more epic.
  3. Yes! I plan on getting one ASAP for my shadow. I always loved the look of a purple blade. If you want confirmation, I believe it's in the patch notes for the test server (?). They're giving us a vendor at republic fleet for a few weeks, then all rare color crystals will move to crafting. This includes white crystals, and the vendor also sells magenta schematics.
  4. Right, but all that being said, it's still a better idea for the OP to get a power crystal than an endurance one, right? Power=more damage from ALL your attacks. KC shadows may not be built for DPS (damage per second), but they're still meant to do damage and survive.
  5. Don't forget that DOTs help a lot when fighting stealth classes. My main is a shadow and I can't tell you how many times I've been fighting a BH, cloaked, and been popped out of stealth because I had a DOT that I didn't see. They aren't worthless at all for sustained damage classes, but bursty classes won't have much use for them. Guardians are definitely a sustained damage class.
  6. Personally the 2/31/8 spec is my favorite, although I modified it because I use it for PvE as well, so I chose the AoE mitigation instead of the force slow time decrease. The question I have for people using other specs: Why aren't you putting points into deep impact? Also for those not using upheaval at all, why aren't you using shadowy veil? If I wasn't going to use upheaval, I'd get shadowy veil and all of the bottom 3 KC skills too. If you're not going to go for the extra project burst, you should at least get the defense to keep you alive longer.
  7. I guess that's the point though, isn't it? They have more important things they could be doing. We are one of the hardest hitting classes in the game AND we have stealth! I'm a mouse clicker/keyboard turner as well, and I do just fine. I don't think there's a single class in the game that can beat an inf shadow 1v1 when we hit them from stealth. Even though sents/marauders technically have the potential to do more damage, they don't have the amount of CC we do. Once we have all our procs+stims+relics+potency, no player can survive our full rotation.
  8. AFAIK, power is probably the best for a kinetic shadow (or inf for that matter). You get plenty of endurance from the survivor set, if you decide to go that route, but bottom line, a kinetic shadow is meant to do sustained damage over time, and power increases that damage. For an infiltration shadow like myself...I'd probably go with power because I chose not to put points into the 6% damage increase skill from the kinetic tree. If I did, I would probably go with crit. That's a good vid, I can't wait to get a purple crystal. Been wanting one for a while, since I had Revan use a purple double blade in KOTOR .
  9. QFT As far as mitigating a shadow's damage, I assume you were playing a Jugg or a BH, in which case it's essential that you pop your defensive CDs as soon as we "decloak." I'll usually open with spinning kick, meaning you'll be down for a couple seconds and I can get my proc building skills off. After that, I'll deliver all my nukes, and if you haven't buffed for it, you're going to die. However, if you can find a way to get out of range during our nuke rotation, you'll probably not only survive, but mow us down like a freight train. Without our procs and buffs, we don't hit very hard, and the survivability of an infiltration shadow is close to none. If you're a Jugg, if you can knock us back and leap, we're screwed, because we can't CC you, and CC is an essential part of our rotation.
  10. So...I just re-watched the Return trailer. You know, the one with Darth Malgus' assassin master. Guess what he was wearing under his (Revan-style) robe? BLACK PANTS. Or more specifically, leggings. The point is...the "lower robe" look in the trailer was actually more like an armored loincloth with slits in the sides so it doesn't impede movement. This is believable. Perhaps they just need to modify the way the lower robe looks in the game, because it actually looks really cool in the trailer. That being said, we still don't have any clothes like Satele's.
  11. Without a damage log, it's hard to say. The best test we can run is to hit a weak, heavily armored target with the basic attack, without any stacks of sunder armor, and see how much damage it does. Then, apply 5 stacks of sunder armor and see how much it does. If it does more, then theoretically sunder armor is working. If not, then it's either not working or the extra damage is done behind the scenes.
  12. Wait a minute, wait just a minute...the title of this thread makes it sound like you stomped all over a bunch of assassins. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see a SINGLE assassin in the entire vid. You fought a shadow in huttball, but all the imperials that you fought were either warriors or sorcerers. That being said, you do seem to have some pretty good survivability.
  13. I really don't, sorry. I'm fairly certain most of those sets come from level 45-49 enemy drops, so I would check Voss. As a matter of fact, I think the Voss commendation vendor has a lot of pieces from this set. If they don't have them, then it's probably from Voss heroics.
  14. Actually, I think he was *sarcastically* saying exactly what you are . As an infiltration specced shadow, a shield really is useless to me. I never go into combat technique, and a kinetic shadow should never be out of it. Keep in mind that when the guide was written, the kinetic build wasn't as good as it is now. Hybrid specs were more viable then, and infiltration was king. A few patches later, and now infiltration specs are far less common since kinetic builds are so useful. Perhaps shield gens are more useful now...they might not shield you from nukes, but any amount of damage mitigation will help you stick in the fight longer, which is what a kinetic shadow does best. In the mean time, I'll keep my spinny saber .
  15. Haven't been around much, but I finally updated the OP with the torwars pants article since I was feeling lazy and didn't want to type it all out myself . I've seen a TON of these on the GTN lately. It's a black/dark gray robe with some green on the inside, matches the seeker upper robe quite nicely. Imo the seeker robe has one of the best color schemes for that style, and the lower robe look has grown on me a bit while standing around. I'm still going to keep my white pants though, we look absurd riding a speeder with a dress.
  16. If there was a "like" button on forum posts, this would get a million .
  17. I doubt that whatever they do will break it more than it already is. I'm so tired of getting zapped by sorcs and not have an instant retaliation skill that deals heavy damage. Granted as an infil shadow, I have to have my procs up for project to do heavy damage too, but it will be nice to have both project and breach instantly. Now they just need to work on speeding up the force wave animation...
  18. I think they'll slowly but surely reintroduce the social gear...they said new outfits are coming in 1.2, maybe it will be some of these. If anyone wants to see all of the social sets, you can go to the darthhaterdb and search for social items. There's a lot of really cool sets.
  19. Indeed! Its one of the social and/or dark side sets that used to be in beta. They took a bunch of them out for some odd reason, because there used to be medium and heavy social sets too. In general, anything you see on torhead with a light/dark side requirement that isn't boots or gloves isn't in the game. (Yet)
  20. I was browsing the PvP weapons vendor at fleet and came across the Shadow Strider double saber. Kind of an odd place to have it though.
  21. Very classy . I have exactly the same gear except I have the seeker's headgear and the Muse lower robe. Looks nearly identical, I love the green robe. I'm level 44 though, so still have a while before I can use it. I'm not sure what Ill do once I have everything I want...I want the deception robe from red reaper and the padded vine silk robe from Voss. All look equally great. As far as wanting what others have...its not just that. People want options. For guardians, that involves looking like they though they were going to look like...heavy armor with hood down, like Master Zallow. For shadows, I think a lot of us want hooded options, just like in the holonet screenshots. The point though, is that people want to look how they want, and with the upcoming 1.2 and subsequent hood toggle, we're getting ever closer to being fully customizable. Now when Ill actually stop complaining is when they fix hood clipping so we (and Miraluka) can wear our awesome masks with our hoods up, as was originally intended. Its going to be the coolest mix of creepy and heroic ever. A "righteous avenger" sort of vibe, if you will. Looking forward to it .
  22. Here's something I've been wanting to ask a 14/27er for a while...why not take Shien form? Do you normally just stay in Soresu or (gasp) Shii-cho? It just seems to me that as a Viligance spec, you'd want to do all the damage you can, while the 14 points in defense keeps you alive. What do most people do?
  23. This is the first I've heard of this. I assume that if we have pants on, they won't turn into robes when we click the match option, but I could be wrong. It would be a nice way to finally get black or brown pants.
  24. The QQ is heavy today, it seems. Why didn't all of you roll knights? Play both, switch back and forth when you get tired of it.
  25. I had an "unwavering" head piece drop from one of them once(Taral V or Maelstrom), but I have no clue as to what determines you getting the regular version or the unwavering version. It could, of course, be completely random.
