  1. I agree with this, and it's kind of funny because 300-400k subs is about what successful MMOs boasted pre-WoW.
  2. Tatooine's Dune Sea is pretty cool, as is almost all of Hoth. Jundland Waste in Tatooine has that 'linear valley' thing going on, but I guess it was kind of that way in the movies, so whatever. I can deal with it.
  3. MS intellimouse optical expensive peripherals dont make you pro
  4. Not really doomed I think, but I wish developers, publishers, and investors would get it through their head that WoW's success wasn't just because they had gameplay features X, Y, and Z. There were many external factors in 2004 that catalyzed at just the right time to result in the huge explosion of players it had. Social networking was taking off, and computers with weak graphics cards or integrated graphics chipsets could actually run the game, and broadband was becoming a staple of modern American homes so latency and big patches were no longer game-stopping hurdles. All that got players in the door for the first time, but it doesn't mean players want the same exact experience over and over again, which is what investors and publishers keep demanding of developers to deliver. Time and time again in new MMOs the most common overall complaint I see about new games is "this is such a WoW clone, if I wanted to play WoW I'd still be there."
  5. You should be playing EVE or Dark Souls or Tera, etc. They're all better now than SWTOR's PVP will ever be.
  6. Togruta please. My currently unsubscribed account would flip to subscribed if I could play a Togruta jedi. The crazy variety of species in Star Wars lore appeals to me, but playing human, red-skinned human, green-skinned human, pale-skinned human, human-with-facial-computers or human-with-blindfold is not really my idea of diversity, to be honest. There are lots of species that are humanoid, speak basic, and yet retain a fairly exotic/alien appearance. Togruta and cathar for example. These two already seem like they might have been intended at one time to be playable, based on how often they appear as customized NPCs.
  7. /youcouldjustnotplay also, the money spent isn't a total loss if you learn from this
  8. Maybe, but I doubt it. There was a combat log in beta. It was not very easy on the eyes. I actually believe Georg Zoeller was in earnest when he said they weren't adding it for launch, because they wanted to make it user-friendly. It reminded me of WoW's combat log circa 2005, before they made it all nice with the auto-filters and whatnot. But, even more cluttered because of the companions and the larger groups of enemies. Do you remember how cluttered WoW's unfiltered logs could be? This one was worse. Not defending the lack of a combat log here, I think it should have been given greater priority than it has been. Just saying, I don't think there's a conspiracy to keep it out of the game on the pretense that it could reveal some ugly underlying mechanics.
  9. If they'd just implement or open up the UI API for modification, players could manage this on their own. Having profiles that we can save and activate across different characters would be really convenient.
  10. Not so sure that's true. They licensed a pretty srs bsnss event auditing backend for this game that lets them sift through incredible amounts of gameplay data. There was a really interesting article on the net about it a while back, but I have of course forgotten the specific details, which makes me useless. I rather wonder if they have the manpower to track down botters and speed hackers and whatnot, in addition to all the more mundane service-related tasks.
  11. After leveling up a dozen or so characters from beta and then 6 more in live (not all of them all the way to 50)...I ride my spacebar like there's no tomorrow. The voice acting really does wear thin eventually.
  12. They ran a beta because Georg Zoeller wanted his precious metrics. They couldn't have cared less what our actual opinions of the game were. They just wanted the gameplay data generated by warm bodies occupying the servers. Mr. Zoeller articulated as much in a rather long post on the beta boards some months ago.
  13. Stupid question maybe, but.... "mando" as in mandolorians, the clans of mercs and bounty hunters, or commando, one of the mirror ACs of the bounty hunter? if you did mean the second, the BH mirror you want is mercenary
  14. Sure. And have them refund whatever amount of your $15 is left for the month you paid. Otherwise, the forums are still fair game. As is game access itself.
  15. Level 50 by the two month mark isn't rushing.
  16. I've completed bonus missions that were attached to my story missions, only to have them come back to mission log after a maintenance at 0/25 kills or whatever, and with no way back to the phase with which they're connected, because the main story mission is complete. So I can't drop them and I can't go back and clear them myself.
  17. I don't think anything will cause TOR to go F2P. If that were a model EA is interested in, I think they would have adopted it for Warhammer by now.
  18. I miss the days of being able to kill-steal by outdamaging another team. Man, what have MMOs become.
  19. Well, other game or not, the point is you're not developing a solution to a problem and then an 'undo solution' solution. Refunds as long as the window hasn't closed is simply most efficient. It's one solution which covers multiple contingencies.
  20. Playing a wookiee for 50 levels would be insanely obnoxious.
  21. instead of coding up the confirmation box, and then coding up a solution to optionally disable said box, the more elegant solution would be to simply allow full refunds on any purchases as long as the merchant's window hasn't closed. oh, and make sure the merchant windows can never be auto-closed by companions returning from missions.
  22. New races aren't confirmed with Legacy, just hinted that current races will have more class options. Or vice versa, rather. Nothing has been said about transfers. My advice? Make your characters rather than waiting on uncertainties.
  23. If they aren't there in two months, they're never going to be there.
