  1. A little pain now will result in a better balanced game in the long run.
  2. I'd be content with them adding some more textures and details to current NPC species and using them for playable characters.
  3. Not sure about the GPU, but you can clean a motherboard by stripping it down COMPLETELY--I mean take every single attachment off--CMOS battery, cables, CPU (!), RAM, everything. Then soak it in distilled water for a while. You can brush very lightly with a soft brush, like a baby toothbrush. Give it a gentle shake to dislodge water from the various slots, and let it dry for a few days to make sure all moisture is completely evaporated. If you have any doubt whatsoever that it's bone dry, don't power it. If the splotches on the GPU are just on the surface, try rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Be gentle.
  4. If I'm posting next week, it's because the forum allows unsubbed and unpaid accounts to post still. I have no idea if that's the case. If it's not, then you won't see me next week. Guaranteed.
  5. Nope, account isn't subscribed at the moment. But fear not, I only have one day left to get my money's worth of entertainment out of SWTOR before I join all the others who've left and may or may not ever be back for a second look at this game.
  6. I already did quit the game. Haven't logged in in over a week. There's nothing stopping you from logging in, playing, and enjoying TOR, so why are you here?
  7. I'm pretty confident that's not going to happen. We'll see what happens over the next three months. And just to head off a response I sense coming, I never made predictions about the first month. I've always maintained that signs of where the game is headed will be seen at 3 and 6 months.
  8. My sweet little game? What? I enjoyed the last beta weekend. I look forward to the next. You're mad.
  9. ROFL, gotta find any meager means to attack a perceived offender, eh? And yes, I know what you're referring to. I'm aware of NCSoft and Bluehole's legal dispute. There's no "link to pirated software." Stop being hyperbolic.
  10. It is an interesting title, but it's easy to plan. Harder to deliver.
  11. Eh? Anyways, nice. But 7gb, damn. That's a lot of textures. 24th can't come soon enough.
  12. In this thread, fanboys attacking someone personally for not liking the game.
  13. I'm well familiar with the DA2 metacritic debacle. There were just as many raging fanboys stuffing the site with 10s as there were raging haters stuffing it with 0s.
  14. I wonder if you will be singing the same tune, should it come to pass that 1-1.5 million of TOR's initial subscribers don't remain past the 6 month mark.
  15. Well you should pick it up. It's excellent. 2011 was an awesome year for action RPGs--Skyrim, Witcher 2, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Amazing.
  16. Well then, I guess a huge portion of gamers are wrong, and Dragon Age 2 for example really was a fantastic and widely well-received title. Yes yes, I know, /v/ hatemonger conspiracy.
  17. While I don't disagree with your last comment, I can name these games. 1) RIFT. I could have sworn it came out in 2010, but nope. Was almost a year ago now. 2) Witcher 2* There is absolutely no way that SWTOR competes with Witcher 2, or Rift. And just for disclosure, while I did love Witcher 2, I hated Rift. Anyways, industry awards are just fluff for publishers to plaster all over their marketing campaigns. I don't know a single person who judges games based on awards, or really even pays attention to them at all. The only time I hear them invoked in conversation is when some person is launching a fanboy defense against critics. *yes I know Witcher 2 for 360 was announced, but it has no release date and was delayed into 2012 at the earliest. Maybe this magazine took that into account, maybe not.
  18. They cancel out the fanboys giving games a perfect 10.
  19. 5 (or ~50%) is below average for most reviews. "Average" games usually fall somewhere in the 80-85 range. Using your own metric is perfectly acceptable of course, just don't be surprised when people see you give a game a 5 out of 10 and assume you nearly hated it.
  20. They knew what they were dealing with, since Bioware are the ones who created Taris, rakghouls, and Revan.
  21. All the (meaningless) awards that are indiscriminately doled out for every AAA game that releases? Please. Show me a AAA game from a major publisher that doesn't get a bunch awards, that would be more surprising and noteworthy. in before lock?
  22. *uses option to hide legacy name* *acts like a jerk across various alts on the server with impunity* Yep, legacy names sure kept me in check
  23. Bioware's standards have been in decline since EA took over. Yeah, it's a commonly heard whine and it used to annoy me, but the degradation is plain to see. Dragon Age Origins was the last real Bioware game imo, everything since (ME2, DA2, TOR) is EA-Bioware, and in more ways than just corporate branding.
