  1. there is quite a bit of 'rubber banding' caused by lag..this was a huge issue when tor first came out; well that and the general laggy feeling of combat (ability delay ect..). I've been gone for a while and it feels like they have made some improvements. However several times I have hit my force speed (whatever you call it) and ran away only to be 'jerked' right back in front of the melee because he stopped me with something. And I have also seen a few of my targets run off and than appear back in front of me, where I had stunned them. I also have a screen shot where I am dead and still have over 2k hit points left, according to my UI anyways. My game reports I have about 30-36ms latency.
  2. Been out of game for a while and just getting back into things (have remained a subscriber)..I don't understand that statement, is that ment just for people who have been doing ranked pvp?
  3. I actually agree with you..I guess some of the bugs didn't bother me too much, like the sliding on the floor thing..it was annoying but not game breaking. But I think we both agree that SOE should have fixed the existing game instead of making it into a wow clone. I could be wrong about the galactic market..I thought they added that later in the game tho (before the nge stuff). I remember you used to have to find the good stuff by visiting vendors/shops, word of mouth..going to coronet and watching the barker spam..haha.
  4. Agreed. SWG was fine as it was other than bugs..which were mostly livable. I liked that all classes were not equal; I loved the player run economy, I loved the resources. SOE just did a horrible job managing the game, eventually even admitting their mistake of implementing the NGE. But the down fall started when they started to be more like wow. I even hated it when they put an auction house in the game. ToR is cute, its okay..I don't hate it and I have even enjoyed it; but it feels more like a single player game to me. Its nothing like swg, which was a world you could truly live in.
  5. Thank you OP, very well said post. I also like TOR a lot, I plan to stick it out and see where they take it. But I would also re-sub to a SWG or a SWG2 in a heart beat. I still think it was way ahead of its time; roaming mobs that hunted each other; watching the two suns set on Tat, the list goes on as others have mentioned. When you think about all that was in that game and realize what we were playing it on...a Pentium 3? Or 4 if you were spending the bucks?? And what a 2mb graphics card, or a 32mb card if you were top of the line? (I don't even remember what was out in 2000 lol). From what I understand the initial designers didn't stay with SOE when the game was released and the code was so complex (and yes buggy) that they had a very hard time working with it. Database issues seemed to be a big thing with so many player made items. However I wonder if todays tech would minimize some of the problems they had. Anyways, at least TOR has the initial design team on board so thats a bonus. Also we have Rich Vogel who worked on the initial SWG and Jump to Lightspeed (the space game of SWG). He left before the CU/NGE btw. So I am hoping that he really brings some of those aspects, especially the space ones, into TOR.
  6. "its better than this guilt trip" haha..that kinda cracks me up every time lol
  7. Woah.. didn't read all the way through, but just wanted to add to what many have said: SWG had one of the best crafting/resource systems ever
  8. Strength users are force users..so willpower increases force abilities.. Aim/Cunning use tech abilities to increase their dmg/ect.. both can use power to increase dmg/heals of their abilites
  9. All the extra air locks are annoying and not necessary. In 50 levels of my Jedi I think there was one quest where I met an npc in an airlock. I honestly almost fell out of my chair But the biggest thing that annoys me: why does my ship take off every time i get in it? What if i just want to sleep on my ship for the night, or use my holo-terminal, or whatever. Yes I can just hit the space bar and skip the cut scene and pretend I didn't launch into space. But why not have the cut scene until after you select a destination IF you are still on the ground (or in a station), but not before. I realize this is probably because there is no scene to look at out of your window while docked or on the ground.
  10. As far as pvp goes, the poster that talked about sages dieing a lot was pretty accurate. While as my gear is getting better (three champion pieces including saber), I can match or beat the other healers; its usually with 5 or 6 deaths to their 1 or 2. Once a dps class has me in their sights I pretty much reserve myself to being dead..often I don't even try to heal through it and just take the death to get back in the match faster. Every once in a while I might be able to get away, or someone will come to my aid..but thats not the norm at all lol. I'm not saying the other healing classes don't need some adjustments, but I don't think the Sage/Sorc is quite as OP as some are indicating either.
  11. Yes please. Do I need a second line? There should at least be a confirmation box that says..this will add a last name to ALL characters on this server regardless of faction.
  12. haha yes..my Watcher outright said at one point..'we have to discuses your actions' or something to that effect..I was snickering to myself lol
  13. I agree..and I don't mean the 'you suck why is everyone at mid what a bunch of noobs' type rant that happens. But simply communication or, 'hey only 2 on the other cannon'...stuff like that. More often tho its eerily quiet during matches.
  14. My thoughts exactly! I don't remember people cheering when Alderaan was blown to pieces lol
  15. Hmm..I've seen a lot of Republic looses turned around simply by someone (sometimes me sometime someone else)..start giving some orders/ideas...like calling incoming, or try this side get out of mid..ect.. Just a little leadership or communication from anyone goes a long way in winning. I'm not saying what server I am on because I feel like its actually pretty balanced and I don't want to ruin it
